Visited this place in June 2025. I was getting recommendations on restaurants to try and Black Cat Harbor Shack was mentioned. The dining experience was great! The night I went there was live music. Though it was packed, I got a nice seat tucked away from the crowd. My waitress was great. I started off with the virgin pina colada which was tasty! For my entrée I ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries. The sandwich was delicious and filling. The spicy mayo really gives it a nice kick! Greeted by friendly staff on sidewalk & at host stand. Service was quick. Cups of Chowder were wonderful. Scallops were delicious and a generous portion. The hot dog roll was a bit stale. Skinny fries were tasty. Watermelon salad was great, wish it said that the steak tip topper had a marinade as I would not have ordered. Cocktails were fun. Practically swallowed my warm, buttered Lobster Roll whole. Somehow, it wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was lobster, it was warm, and there was a whole LOT of it. Overstuffed. But hell... that cost me almost $40. I think I deserve it. Came with 3 slices of jarred pickles and a bag of chips. Now... if you're looking to support a "green" business, you may have come to the wrong place here. Drinks all served in disposable plastic. Straws? Plastic. Lobster rolls served in... plastic take-out platters. Tacos served in a sort of paper plate. I know it's almost impossible to be true "green" these days, but I do look for some sort of effort to be made. One thing that really kind of pissed me off was a feeling of being misled. I found this place because of a brochure at my hotel. I showed my daughter, and she fell in love with the "black cat" thing (we have one of those at home), the "biggest lobster roll" thing, and the "waterfront" thing. Now I don't know if it's the "biggest lobster roll" around, but it absolutely was big. But... waterfront? This place is across the street from the waterfront, at best. Check out my photo of my view of some boats in the water. I'm sorry, but if I can't really see it, it's not part of the ambience. I couldn't even smell it from here. That's costing then one star. The service was basically fine, and a new waitress was being trained. There was some time when I couldn't find them, and I wanted the check so we could get on our way. I didn't feel like the manager or hostess were that open to giving us their attention... My wife liked the tacos (and she's Mexican, said she thought the tortillas might be hand made, which is cool), and we liked my daughter's crab cake... very good. Not sure I would be so fast to return though. Nice ambience, decent food and service, but no need to misrepresent IMO about waterfront. This restaurant has a nice outdoor patio, with plenty of electronica dance music---- really this is Cape Cod. One good thing is that everyone is socially distanced. The fish and chips are great and the clams were average to good. The service was excellent and the food was very hot when it came out. So overall the food and the service were good with the exception of the incredibly overpriced cauliflower. I got about eight pieces of cauliflower for $13, such a bargain! I think next It's not that the cauliflower wasn't good, it was just that it was incredibly expensive. read more

We have been stopping here for the past 3 summers on our day trips to the Cape, and it's been nothing but a great experience. I am not a huge seafood person, so eating by the Harbour is tricky sometimes, but Black Cat has amazing non-seafood options! I usually get the angus cheeseburger or the Buffalo chicken wrap - seriously soooo amazing. The shoestring fries are also very good, and it's a $2 increase if you want them as your side (typically the side dishes here are cape cod chips). Would also recommend trying the lobster cake, it has the potential to convert a non-seafooder. It also served with potato salad which is delightful here. Food is consistently fresh and delicious. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but it's worth it every once in a while for great food. Portions are decent, not big but I've never left hungry. read more

The lobster roll itself was decent with enough Mayo (35 dollars). Chowder was good & standard (10 dollars for a cup). Only one single occupancy bathroom, which was pretty clean. A must stop on Martha's Vineyard. Its own little complex, complete with souvenir shop, bakery bar and restaurant. Food was outstanding. The best chowder on the Cape! Located near the harbor with parking across the street. Walked in without reservations and say indoors. Atmosphere is nautical and clean. We ordered the oyster hot shots that were delicious to start with. Service is great and food is fresh, and absolutely delicious! Came with out teenagers and they loved it too. The food and service were good. My family ordered the crab cake sandwich, the clam chowder, fried clams, oysters, and a burger. All of it was good - especially the French fries. The crabcake sandwich I just the right amount of spice, the burger was cooked perfectly, and my boyfriend's clam chowder was the best he had had so far in Cape Cod. Note about the clam chowder is that it is on the thin/runny side versus the super thick and chunky side. And it had a lot of clam in it. One other note for someone who may not be used to fresh fried seafood: the clam in the fried clams is soft and chewy. Most people are used to them being hard and sort of gummy, almost like calamari, but these are the real deal. Just a heads up! read more

The issue I have is the food is just average and way overpriced for being served on paper plates and plastic utensils. We came to black cat harbor shack for a late night snack. We got the fried oyster taco as well as the fried calamari side. The fried calamari side was super good and the portion was decent. It was crispy on the outside and just the right amount of chewy on the inside. The fried oyster tacos were pretty average. The portion was very small and it just came with a small pack of chips. The tacos were definitely not filling. We also got the harbor punch cocktail which was nice, it was your classic sweet cocktail - nothing too special about it. For the amount we paid we didn't exactly leave full or fulfilled. I did wish the portions were bigger. However they definitely had good fried calamari! read more

Perfect location with parking across the street. Grab a table to watch the boats roll in and out of the harbor. Food is excellent just like the service. Some of the best calamari I have ever had. Went to area to visit a college friend and tried Black Cat based on yelp reviews and location. Extremely clean, fresh comfortable atmosphere. We ordered the mussels, the best muscles and flavor I have ever had. Also got the lobster roll, extremely fresh, tasty and great bun. We were on our way to Provincetown and we stopped at this place for a quick bite. We heard the lobster around the area was good, so my boyfriend really wanted to try. I gotta say, we were not too impressed by this place. It is well located, and the host/receptionist was so welcoming. However, out waitress was not very friendly. When we asked her about the wifi password she said she didn't know and that we had to go back up front to ask. We thought it was a bit odd, I get if she didn't know the password by heart but she was a bit "rude" about it. Apart from that small incident, she was ok. The food is not the best. My partner did not love the lobster, he said it was alright, nothing out of the ordinary. The sweet potato fries were good. Nothing exceptional. I did not enjoy the buffalo cauliflower I thought they had a bit of seafood taste (maybe fried on the same oil or too close?). My boyfriend however did not think so. Stopped for lunch by the water and was pleasantly surprised! I had gotten a little nervous being from Connecticut when I saw the Lobster Roll on the menu was a "lobster salad" (cold and drenched in Mayo.. no thank you) I had asked the waiter about doing it hot buttered and he assured me it wouldn't be a problem and I am SO happy with that choice! There were huge chunks of lobster and not lacking by any means! Only downside is I love it drenched, practically swimming and the bun was not buttered and toasted as well! Ordered the kids Fish and Chips and it fed two (very hungry) kids under the age of three no problem! And of course had to get soft serve after in which our AMAZING waiter brought my daughter out two small bowls of toppings so she could decide if she wanted any on her ice cream which was so sweet! He asked about where we were from and if it was the first time to the Cape as he was ready to give us any recommendations of things to see and do! Loved that! After a long day at the beach the Black Cat was a great option to grab some food for 4 hungry gals. The restaurant was outdoors on a covered patio with all the right social distancing practices in place. Our seat was shady and set up in a picnic style setting. We were seated, feed and out in about an hour. I ordered the hot butter lobster roll and it was delicious - not the best one I've ever had but still spot on. The bread was toasted and the lobster was plentiful. The downside was that the meal didn't come with fries but a small small bag of cape cod chips. For the $26 dollar price tag I would expect at least fries to come with the meal. We also ordered oysters and they were HUGE and very tasty. If I was in the area again and looking for a place to stop by after heading to the beach this is a great option. The menu is pretty large with aloe of seafood favorites to heighten the feel of seaside town. With 2 other restaurants owned by the same company you have lots of choices on the vibe you would like whether that be. More traditional indoor experience, a raw bar with a shady outside patio/bar and the harbor shack with a more backyard feel. read more

Decent stop for some post-beach grub if you're in Hyannis. It's great for causal, sit down dining close to Main St. This place was super busy when my friends and I went, and definitely seemed popular with the locals. We got a nice round table on the patio, and the set up feels more like a picnic than a restaurant with its plastic utensils and disposable trays. The menu is pretty reasonably priced, and you can get some yummy seafood options. I was happy with my lobster cake sandwich. Although I wouldn't splurge on the oysters, I've had much better in downtown Boston. read more

After a long day at the beach in Hyannis we came here for dinner and it hit the spot! They have a TON of out door seating available, and something for everyone in the party to eat! The menu is very diverse, raw bar, tacos, burgers..... they have it all. The food came out hot and quick! I ordered the cheeseburger... the best part about it was the bun, which was toasted and crispy. It comes with a side of chips, which you are unable to substitute without an uncharge. It does come with two slices of cheese, score! This was a bit disappointing, but not the end of the world. We also ordered the select oysters, which were huuuge and delicious! Members in our party also ordered the lobster roll and fried lobster sandwich ... and they loved it! Definitely a great spot to check out in the area. The service was good, and the dining was outside and shaded. All the waiters wore masks, and there was hand sanitizer available if needed. Definitely a more casual spot, which is great after a Long Beach day. I recommend if you are hungry and in the area. read more

None of the staff seemed like they wanted to be there (or like they were working for tips) with the exception of the trainee. $17 wedge salad had a couple crumbles of bacon and cost 50 cents to prepare. $13 cup of lobster bisque had one piece of lobster and tasted like a bowl of cream. Then they have the audacity to charge 4% for credit card payment as if they're not making 90% margin on every customer. After a very stressful day dealing with the ferry situation and cancellations, we pulled into the parking lot to grab dinner. We turned around to feed the car in the right direction and someone else pulled in and then we were told.... last spot, but go to the other side. Thankfully, this is where we met our highlight. Donnie. Friendly, courteous valet that took great care for us. He was just the friendly face we needed. Upon checking in with the hostess, we were informed it would be 30min wait. We find a spot at the bar and met a very nice bartender. She was just telling us we could order dinner from there, when our pager when off. It was so quick we didn't even get a chance tinkerer a drink. Priscilla our waitress took excellent care of us once seated and the food was very good. Overall, great experience, but the best part was Donnie.
