Visited this place in June 2025. I was getting recommendations on restaurants to try and Black Cat Harbor Shack was mentioned. The dining experience was great! The night I went there was live music. Though it was packed, I got a nice seat tucked away from the crowd. My waitress was great. I started off with the virgin pina colada which was tasty! For my entrée I ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries. The sandwich was delicious and filling. The spicy mayo really gives it a nice kick! Great atmosphere and wonderful staff I will be back!

Good was great! They sat us quickly with no reservation. Go early! Food was delicious! Lobster grilled cheese was a game changer!

Great place near the harbor in Hyannis. Definitely a pub food menu. Waitress was friendly and service was quick. I had a crab cake sandwich, family had wraps and fish and chips. I had a party of 6 so it did take some time to get seated. I recommend this place for something simple and quick

If you zoom in, can you see the boats on the "waterfront" that they advertised?

Practically swallowed my warm, buttered Lobster Roll whole. Somehow, it wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was lobster, it was warm, and there was a whole LOT of it. Overstuffed. But hell... that cost me almost $40. I think I deserve it. Came with 3 slices of jarred pickles and a bag of chips. Now... if you're looking to support a "green" business, you may have come to the wrong place here. Drinks all served in disposable plastic. Straws? Plastic. Lobster rolls served in... plastic take-out platters. Tacos served in a sort of paper plate. I know it's almost impossible to be true "green" these days, but I do look for some sort of effort to be made. One thing that really kind of pissed me off was a feeling of being misled. I found this place because of a brochure at my hotel. I showed my daughter, and she fell in love with the "black cat" thing (we have one of those at home), the "biggest lobster roll" thing, and the "waterfront" thing. Now I don't know if it's the "biggest lobster roll" around, but it absolutely was big. But... waterfront? This place is across the street from the waterfront, at best. Check out my photo of my view of some boats in the water. I'm sorry, but if I can't really see it, it's not part of the ambience. I couldn't even smell it from here. That's costing then one star. The service was basically fine, and a new waitress was being trained. There was some time when I couldn't find them, and I wanted the check so we could get on our way. I didn't feel like the manager or hostess were that open to giving us their attention... My wife liked the tacos (and she's Mexican, said she thought the tortillas might be hand made, which is cool), and we liked my daughter's crab cake... very good. Not sure I would be so fast to return though. Nice ambience, decent food and service, but no need to misrepresent IMO about waterfront. We probably would have come anyway, and they'd have gotten 4 stars instead of 3.

We have been stopping here for the past 3 summers on our day trips to the Cape, and it's been nothing but a great experience. I am not a huge seafood person, so eating by the Harbour is tricky sometimes, but Black Cat has amazing non-seafood options! I usually get the angus cheeseburger or the Buffalo chicken wrap - seriously soooo amazing. The shoestring fries are also very good, and it's a $2 increase if you want them as your side (typically the side dishes here are cape cod chips). Would also recommend trying the lobster cake, it has the potential to convert a non-seafooder. It also served with potato salad which is delightful here. Food is consistently fresh and delicious. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but it's worth it every once in a while for great food. Portions are decent, not big but I've never left hungry.

View, good service, and location. Oysters, Shrimp cocktail, carpacio were all of good quality. Service was friendly & prompt!

Awesome place for a casual bite, good atmosphere, and delicious drinks! The Black Cat has 3 parts - the harbor shack, the outdoor back area, and the tavern. We ate at the shack which had plastic cutlery and is more casual dining. The food was all delicious! The Oreo mudslide was the hit of the group. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We will be back!

Service was fast (probably because there were a lot of people being trained). The back seating felt like a full summer day with low top chairs and high top bar seating. The lobster roll itself was decent with enough Mayo (35 dollars). Chowder was good & standard (10 dollars for a cup). Only one single occupancy bathroom, which was pretty clean. Prices were higher than I'd like (everything was 10+ dollars).

    Lobster cake sandwich. Delicious!

Only outdoor seating. Service was good. We had the lobster cake sandwich, lobster roll and fish and chips. We love coastal towns with fresh seafood. Try it!

Very slow service for overpriced food, definitely better places in the area. Waiters/waitresses could have better attitudes.

Katie was our waitress, and she aimed to please from the wine tasting to make sure we like our choices from the wine list We both selected the fish taco with pineapple salsa with a very nice dressing The unique potato chip fried fish was so fresh We opt for the garlic bread to go with our wine and that too had its special flare I know we both said this is a first but not our last trip to enjoy the food ,service and ambience . Thanks Katie for answering all our many questions and making so many extra trips to the kitchen for us Jackie S

My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers.

Both drinks were very good. After our drinks were served, I asked our server a few questions about the portion size of the calamari. Since we were still undecided about our selections, the server left us to consider our options. Once we had made our choices, however, we had difficulty getting the server's attention. My companion had to first motion to the server and eventually call out to get their attention--three times! We both started with a cup of New England Clam Chowder, although I ordered a bowl with my meal. There is definitely a noticeable difference in portion size between the cup and bowl. The chowder itself was excellent--thick, flavorful, and delicious. For our entrées, we selected Clam Strips and Calamari, both as side-dish portions. The food was very good, as were the drinks. Overall, we enjoyed the food, drinks, and beautiful harbor-side patio setting. Unfortunately, the service was only just okay, primarily because of the difficulty we had getting our server's attention after we were ready to order.

My boyfriend and I had such a great experience here our first night of vacation that we decided to come back our second night. So we went to the hostess and said table for 2 and took the buzzer and were told 45 minute wait. It was an hour wait but I loved the experience and was ok with waiting. So when our buzzer buzzed. I headed to the hostess stand and there was a long line. I didn't want to be rude so I said the lead hostess "hey I just got a buzz" she said "ok maam I will be right with you." She continued to take down the names of the multiple groups of people in line. I decided that I would go to the back of the line to be respectful. As we were just about to near the front I hear her say "table ___ is a no show we are giving away to table ___" the people she gave the table to were people who were bothering her about the long wait time while my boyfriend and I patiently waited. She went to then give me ANOTHER buzzer as she gave our table away although we were there on time and then ignored. I gave the new buzzer back to her and told her that we previously were there with our buzzer and told her and she told us to wait a minute but ignored us. My boyfriend chimed in to say that he saw her give the table away to the next people on the list that were bothering her while we patiently waited. The hostess didn't say sorry and let us leave after we were very respectful. As someone in the industry it breaks my heart. I have been in her position and have done everything I could to make it right and to allow my guests to have the best experience possible. All she did was stare at us as we expressed concern. I was deeply hurt after this interaction and left wondering what I did wrong. All I tried to do was be a loyal customer and be respectful and I was patient and was punished for being patient and respectful. All I want is some recognition and apology.
