I'm going to start by saying that this place has so much potential. It took about 7 minutes after we(party of 5) sat down to be greeted. We were one of MAYBE 10 tables in the restaurant. Our server did a good job, it's what came out of the kitchen that was disappointing. We had fried flounder, fried shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, and stuffed flounder. For a plate average of $18, they're definitely needs to be something that tastes GOOD other than the cocktail and tartar sauce and the French fries. Everyone was so excited to go after reviews and pictures. Every single dish lacked any kind of seasoning and had zero salt. Maybe it was a bad day but after a $140 check, we have zero interest on returning. read more

Got to enjoy this amazing gem to kick off restaurant reopening day after 6+ weeks of no in restaurant dining! I have to commend the stay for being so energetic, attentive and hospitable. Service when I went was very good, our server was very nice and it didn't take long either to order or get our food. We had a few minute wait to be seated but not too long. I think the prices are maybe a couple bucks too high for what you are getting but that's probably for the ambience. They had live music on Sunday evening, it was a bit loud. We happened upon Doc's while on our way to the restaurant next door. We didn't like the vibe of the first place so we popped over and are SO GLAD we did. Amazing food and great service. Right on the water, we watched some barges go by under the bridge. We had oysters on the half shell, crab cakes and the catch of the day...while I sincerely cannot remember the type of fish, it was spectacular. The Louisiana shrimp sauce on top was to die for. My picky young ones were even gobbling up my fish. So affordable for fresh seafood with a water view. read more

This was a fantastic place for lunch. The fried flounder was crispy and tender. The crab stuffed flounder was cooked to perfection and the blackened red fish with Laguna shrimp sauce was heavenly. Riley our server was very attentive and her suggestions were all delicious. The location is great, right on the water immediately after crossing the bridge from Corpus Christi. And the decor inside was very much in line with coastal living. Laid back and unbothered. 10/10 would definitely recommend. read more

Came to Doc's after a weekend of camping at North Padre National Seashore Park. Atmosphere was actually quite charming since it's located right by the water, and you can see boats going on by. It feels very beachtown-y. The service was excellent. We were seated quickly, and didn't have to wait long to order and for our dishes to come out. The manager came by to check in on us. The bathrooms are pretty clean, and there's this lovely salt scrub (made by a local artisan in the area) in the women's bathroom in addition to soap! Food is hearty and fills you up. I had the blackened yellow fin tuna sandwich; the sauces are excellent, and the fries were great, but the tuna was just okay. The tuna itself didn't have that much flavor, and it wasn't that melt-in-your-mouth tuna that you crave with seaside seafood places. My friend ordered ceviche, which was the same sort of thing; the seafood was pretty firm - not that melt-in-your-mouth kind of fresh seafood that you crave. Drinks were fine; would recommend the Tsunami (it's pretty and blue and has coconut rum!), but, very sadly, the summertime sangria was not at all how it was described in the menu. It tasted artificial and did not have any fresh fruit at all, unless you count the one lime slice and one lemon slice. :'( Though the food was standard and drinks disappointing, I would give this place 3.5 stars instead of 3 stars because of its excellent service and nice beachy vibes. read more

Might not be able to beat the view, especially during sunset BUT you don't have to burn many calories to beat the service. Don't get me wrong, the wait staff was nice enough but they couldn't get out of their own way. Not enough place settings, forgetting what some of us (4 in our party) had ordered, not refilling drinks, and it goes on and on. I would go back but I would have a lower expectation going in. The coastal breeze sweeping across a shaded stilted deck adds the best ambiance while you dine. I had the Seafood Lovers and the fried crust is a well orchestrate mixture giving the food a light taste. Our server, Bethany was exemplary. We came with our dog on a Friday night and I got in the takeout line at 6:15 with about 5 people ahead of me. I tried to call in our order but the receptionist on the phone said it would be faster if I stayed in line and ordered. When I finally got to the front of the line to order, they said they couldn't take anymore orders for 15-20 min because they were swamped. I am pretty sure something similar happened the last time we came here. The food is good but service is not...and not sure the food is good enough to deal with the terrible service. Didn't eat here bcuz they only allow service animals, even if it's two tiny dogs in a stroller. They allow animals downstairs but you have to get to-go orders brought down to you, and it is very dark, damp and dreary (dreaded Three D's!) downstairs. Headed to Snoopy's where they have a nice waterside dog-friendly patio. read more

But once we were seated, everything was good. Our waitress, Lindsay, was great. She had a fantastic personality&provided excellent service; even after we were seated at close of business!!.... We ordered the crawfish fries as an appetizer. They were delicious!!.I ordered the stuffed flounder with fresh green beans. My daughter had the burger&my son had mini corn dogs. Spent the day at the beach on Padre Island. We stopped in reluctantly after reading the 3 1/2 star reviews. THIS PLACE IS A FIVE STAR!!!!! Location, view and service were all amazing, but the food!!!!! So good! We started with hush puppies and seafood quest dip with chips. All were so tasty. Hubby had the bacon wrapped shrimp, I had chowda and daughter had the seared ahi tacos! All parties enjoyed their lunch. We definitely would recommend. Love love love this place. read more

Stopped for lunch today. My wife and I ordered peel and eat shrimp for starters. They were either over boiled or old. Trying to get the shell off was like chipping paint off the wall. The shells were virtually glued to the meat of the shrimp and had to be peeled away in small pieces. They were also tuff and chewy. I then ordered the flounder platter. As was advertised on the menu. The fish was breaded in Panko. It was seasoned so strongly that I couldn't taste the fish. I ate a half of one piece out of two. I couldn't stomach the rest. I don't own a restaurant, but if I did. I would think people come to a seafood restaurant for the taste of seafood, not a box of seasoning. I'm 73 and have been eating seafood most of my life. I my younger years, my father in law owned a shrimp boat in Rockport, Tx. We spent many nights gigging flounder. I know what they should taste like! read more

This was our first time at this restaraunt. My husband and I assume this must be a franchise or chain restaraunt. Regardless, the food was delicious. The protion sizes provided for each dinner were WAY too big. We split each meal into two and ate leftovers for lunch the next day. The pina coladas were terrible. They tasted like those cheap, commercial pina colada mixes from the grocery store: The drinks basically tasted like corn syrup and fake flavoring. The other drinks were decent, and the view was phenomenal. The overtly loud music playing in the upstairs dining area wasn't my cup-of-tea, but if you like a loud party atmosphere then this is a good place to visit. Wanted brunch ended up with sushi....... Wanted Brunch because of the huge billboard offering it.... got there at 12:15 and they quit serving brunch at noon....every other brunch I have ever been to ended at 2:00 or 3:00 (Google it if you like), The billboard should say brunch till noon if they are going to end brunch earlier than any other place that offers brunch. We also witnessed another couple ask a server about brunch while we were there. Anyway now we are there so we order..... Wife Ordered the Tuna tacos but what came out was basically sushi, What came out was huge tuna steaks cooked rare on a tiny tortilla. The tuna was so rare it was cold inside, if my wife wanted Tuna steak she would have asked for it, these were everything but tacos, waste of $24 on that meal. Then wife had to order another meal. This is a fail in menu description and a fail in the server to make its clear to make up for the bad menu description. Also I am not sure what smells so bad but the closer you get to the kitchen there is a awful old burnt oil smell very gross and hard to eat there because of that smell. read more

We were hyped to try a local hangout with an awesome ocean view so we tried Doc's. The restaurant was busy and ratings seemed favorable so we thought we'd try it out on our recent stay in Corpus. We sat at the bar to wait for a table. My husband ordered a Pina colada which was very sweet, syrupy and a little warm and also came from a dispenser (like a slurpee) and I had a Long Island which was actually okay. We waited 25 minutes for a table. The highlight sitting there was enjoying the live music. I love country and the couple playing did a pretty good job of some old Cash songs and some newer 90's stuff. We were finally seated and given menus . Took a bit for the waiter to make it to our table so we could order and a lot longer to get our food. He was friendly, I think it was just very busy. Not a lot of people leaving, just sitting and drinking and enjoying the view, which is pretty great. I grew up on the westcoast and enjoy seafood. Not a fan of deep fried seafood but there was mostly deep fried on the menu. Ordered calamari to start, which could've come out of a box in the local grocery store freezer section, not impressed. My husband ordered a shrimp cocktail which was more chips than anything and the shrimp was chopped up and thrown in with some pico de gaio. He was perplexed, the best part of a shrimp cocktail is usually the size of the fresh gulf shrimp! For our mains, I ordered fish tacos which were dry, fell apart and covered in too much sauce (likely to compensate?) My husband had bacon wrapped shrimp which was okay. Over all, an unremarkable dinner and somewhere in the whole mess, my husband ended up with gastro intestinal issues that night. (I'm thinking Pina colada from a dispenser).
