This place was highly recommended. First time going. I didn't see a reservation option online and they aren't on OpenTable. We arrived and it was an hour wait:/ we decided to stick around wait. Thankfully it didn't feel that long because we walked around and enjoyed the views until our buzzer went off. We initially got a big pretzel and some chips and salsa to start off with. Yum:) My son got the Seafood Lovers plate and loved it and I got the Surf and Turf. Delicious. Our waitress was wonderful. Would definitely go again and just hope for a less wait time.

Still love this place! So much so that we did eat here twice in the last 3 days and I have no regrets. Great location on the water with excellent views. I've also found my new fave dish which is the Doc's Yard Bird! Can't wait to take my mom and mother in law here soon! Also, if you have a military ID you receive 10% off your meal. :)

We visited with a large group of 7 adults and 2 children, which can sometimes be a challenge for a restaurant, but this place exceeded our expectations. The menu offered a great variety of options that satisfied every type of eater in our group. From fresh seafood and fish tacos to burgers, salads, shrimp dishes, and kid-friendly favorites, everyone found something they loved. Every meal that came to the table looked fantastic and was cooked perfectly. The fish tacos were fresh and flavorful, the shrimp dishes were delicious, and even the burgers and fries received rave reviews. The drinks were equally impressive, with refreshing cocktails and non-alcoholic options that complemented the meal perfectly. What really stood out was the service. Despite our large party, the staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly. Food arrived promptly, drinks stayed filled, and we never felt overlooked. The restaurant itself was also clean, welcoming, and well-maintained, creating a comfortable atmosphere for both adults and children. Finding a restaurant that can successfully accommodate a group this size while delivering excellent food and service isn't always easy, but this one did it effortlessly. We would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal with family or friends. We had such a great experience here at the bar with Rebecca while we waited for our table. We ordered a few drinks and came on military Monday so we got a discount since my partner is ex-military. I got the Vida Rum Runner. The rest of the table ordered a Paloma, a shiner, and a straw Basil. We also got some chips and salsa. Once we moved to our table, we had Skye as our server. She was awesome and gave us some really great suggestions. We ordered shrimp po-boys, salmon, clam chowder, and another appetizer. Everything was yummy and we especially loved being able to watch the live sunset for dinner. Special thanks to Skye for making my mom's birthday so special. She turned 82 during our visit!

Lots of seating. We couldn't sit on the outside deck, but were close enough to get up and see the dophins playing! Our server, Shay(?) was a delight. Friendly and recommended some delicious things. We ordered the clam bites and the chicken fried steak.. it was huge! Came with 2 big portions. We shared it and still took some home! They had live music too. All in all a great place to come for dinner.

Came to Corpus to celebrate our daughter's birthday- choose Doc's for dinner. So glad we did. We were a party of 9 and were seated right away even though it was extremely crowded. James was our waiter and he was amazing. Our drinks were never empty long , appetizers came out fast ( the seafood queso and souther egg rolls were amazing !). We had a wide range of food- salad/ buffalo chicken sandwich/ hamburger / and all the specials - red fish - tuna -flounder and they were all amazing : have eaten many times in Port A and this tops them all and worth the drive from Port A to eat here. The Sunset was also a great ending to dinner ! One more shout out for waiter James he was so amazing !

One of my favorite places on earth, and I have reviewed it several times in the past, but not working in CC anymore I only get here during Sandfest. It was a chilly, overcast day so none of the standard beautiful sunny views, but the food was as good as ever. I almost always get the special, and this day was no different. I had the blackened redfish over rice, and it was fantastic. A couple different local brews and some great company made it a complete day.

Our dining experience here tonight was so amazing! It was a busy afternoon but we were able to get seated right away. Our server, Ally, wade the sweetest and so attentive. She gave us her recommendations and the specials. We ordered drinks as well as some of Ally's recommended entrees. The food was so flavorful. I highly recommend the crab stuff flounder. The key lime pie was exceptional. While I no longer live in Corpus we are adding this restaurant to our family favorites and will definitely be back.

Stopped to eat at Doc's Seafood & Steaks on the trip home from Port A. The parking lot was full and the restaurant was very busy on a Sunday night. We were able to find parking and were greeted by the host. We were seated quickly with no wait and got a large booth in the dining area to accommodate our party of 7. It was too dark by the time we got there for us to enjoy the beautiful view. They had a live music performance which was enjoyable. The service was very friendly and attentive. Was very engaging with the kiddos at the table and a very friendly demeanor. I have to say that this time around the quality of the food was not as good as I remember. I ordered the Coastal bacon wrapped shrimp, 6 jumbo shrimp stuffed with cilantro lime cream cheese and wrapped in applewood bacon. The specialty side was squash and zucchini and a side of rice. They did provide me with a butter dipping sauce upon request. The shrimp was a bit overcooked and chewy and they were also a bit smaller than I remember. The kids in our party had a cheese burger and grilled cheese kids meal with apple sauce. When the grilled cheese sandwich came out and the kiddo did not want to eat because it was greasy and shaped like a circle; the server took it back to the kitchen to address the concerns. Also ordered the fried shrimp platter, 8 shrimp hand-breaded in panko and comes with fries, slaw, and hush puppies, tartar and cocktail sauce . Also had the catch of the day platter with mahi mahi served with rice and the vegetable of the day. The Costal cob salad with chicken includes fresh mixed greens with pico de gallo, cheese, egg, bacon and avocado. Over all a good dining experience with attentive and friendly service. Just wish the food had been on par with the last visit.

This place offers great food with stunning views of the sunset over the water. It can get busy, so expect a wait. If you have to wait, you can always head downstairs and hang out. They have a bar down there and a couple of games to play, like cornhole. I will warn you, though, parking can be really tough for dinner - even parking on the street can be hard to find. They have live music on most nights, but I'll warn you, sometimes the performer in the dining room can be a little on the loud side and just a tad annoying - it's not absolutely terrible though. They offer a decent selection of local and regional beers, but none on tap. They also have a full bar for your favorite cocktail. They have covered outdoor seating on the deck, but you can still see the sunset from inside if you are seated in the right area. When I was there, they had the big doors open, so a decent breeze was coming in, and you could see the sunset. The crab-stuffed flounder was my favorite - it's a must try! I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Great service and food. Went on a Friday evening around 5pm and they were too busy. Got a seat outside on the patio and they had additional fans going to help keep it cool. Grant, was the person who assisted and I got one of the specials - Parmesan crusted redfish. This was amazing! The crust on the fish was crunchy and gave a nice contrast to the delicate fish inside that was cooked perfectly. The sauce on top was equally delicious and the only negative was it was a shrimp sauce however there may have been one or two pieces of shrimp. So, that could have been better. The green beans were seasoned well and the rice also flavorful. The restroom was sea decorated and a different set up with a split stall, one right by the entrance and the other on the far side with the sinks in-between. The views were great! Overall delicious food and good service, I'd recommend to pop in especially if you can make it for the sunset, has to be amazing.

Docs Seafood and Steaks is an absolute must if you're in Port A! We came just in time to catch the sunset, and the atmosphere was incredible, relaxed, coastal, and the perfect way to end the day. The service was fantastic too, quick, attentive, and super friendly, even during a busy season. I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Snapper, and wow, it was huge and absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and easily a dish I'd get again. The rest of the table had the Fiesta Burger (with a veggie patty), a seafood platter, and the mahi-mahi, everything looked amazing! For appetizers, we tried the hush puppies and Wisconsin cheese curds, and those cheese curds are a 10/10 must-order. But the real star for me? The clam chowder, creamy, rich, and so good I'd come back just for another bowl. I'm definitely giving this place a four out of five, for the only reason of being the veggie burger had a little too much soy, and the fries were a little dry! But that is no reason to not come! This place is amazing! If you're looking for great seafood, friendly service, and an unbeatable view, Docs is the place to go!

If you're looking for seafood that'll make you question why you ever settled for frozen fish sticks, this is the spot. I went all in with the Seafood Lover platter: 1 flounder fillet, 4 shrimp, and a crab cake fried so perfectly, Gordon Ramsay himself would have shed a single tear. The shrimp? Honestly, I'm convinced they trained for the Olympics before they ended up on my plate. Now, the margaritas. I started with Doc's Margarita and thought, "Hmm, this is kind of weak." Fast forward to the last sip, and suddenly I'm smiling at strangers like we've been best friends since kindergarten. The Skinny Margarita, though? Hands down the winner-light, refreshing, and sneaky in the best way. Add in some great live music, an atmosphere that says, "Yes, order dessert, you're on vacation," and a waitress who deserves her own fan club. We had such a blast that we broke the golden rule of vacations: never eat at the same place twice. Yep, we went back the very next day. 10/10 -highly recommend. Bring stretchy pants.

Docs was very very good. If you are in CC and want a great dinner and atmosphere this is a place not to miss!! I had the fried shrimp, and my honey got the ribeye steak... Both were really good. If you like Long Island Ice-T's try their giant one, with top shelf shots in it... It was really really good too! read more

Views and drinks are great, food okay. Get the fried food-Much better than the other options. Ordered Flounder - not good for the price of $28. I was expecting something much better Crab cake- looked prepackaged not freshly made. Perfectly round like it was frozen; which it probably was. If you go in with the expectation of getting more of bar food rather than seafood restaurant you'll be fine. Also....With the growing retirement community in the are you would think they were more ADA friendly. If you have older individuals in your party, know that there is no elevator and it's a LONG walk up the ramp for grandparents (if they don't have a wheelchair). They need an elevator or restaurant wheelchair to help people up to restaurant. read more

The place is a tourist trap for sure. Avg seafood at best. Four us ate, had two beers, order of hush puppies and cheese fries for app and four entrees. Bill was $177 w/o tip. Very little value. Best to go to HEB and buy your seafood and make it back at the place you are staying at on the island. read more

This was a great choice! We had to wait about 45 minutes for our table. But while we waited, there was a downstairs bar with great drinks, games and views! I didn't mind waiting at all. Docs does it right. First off the location, overlooking the ocean is amazing - Great outdoor seating allows you to take it all in and invites you to sunset view from their 2nd floor seating deck. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. Pricing is a bit higher than I love to pay but it's not overwhelming. Kid friendly and a good time for the family. read more

This place is super cool! We went during lunch, so it wasn't as busy as the evening dinner rush, but it was yummy! We couldn't get enough hush puppies! I had the coconut shrimp which was pretty good! The atmosphere of this place is great, as its a restaurant upstairs and a seaside bar downstairs. The view is to die for! read more

The seafood lovers platter was really good, the fried fish and shrimp were great, can't say I liked the crab cake. My wife ordered the Cobb salad( she doesn't like seafood, and added chicken for $5, the waiter dropped the hard boiled egg as he brought it and said he would replace it( he didn't) she said the chicken wasn't very good and the single layer of salad greens for the price was a rip off. Along with the egg being missing. Still my food was good and the view of the water was really nice. Dolphins were in the water nearby and have to say the view and seafood is worth a return visit. read more

This place is a must if you are ever in Corpus!!!! The restaurant is beautiful and clean...The staff is very nice and helpful...And the food!!!!!!OMG!!!! Make sure you are very hungry when you go because remember you're in Texas!! It was all fresh and hot! And the taste!!! Everything we ate had its own flavor and sensation!!! First thing that got me was the smell. I really wanted to eat on the water so I knew the smell would be off putting potentially but I wasn't expecting how strong it would be. What made it worse is that we were sitting above the fish cleaning station & the fishermen were cleaning a ton of fish. But, once the wind started blowing the opposite way, it was bearable. The view was beautiful. We got the seafood queso. 7/10 - as the queso was VERY thick. But the shrimp inside was so good. And the chips were perfect. I got the tuna tacos. The tacos were 6/10. Could be greatly improved by cutting the tuna smaller & using 2 tortillas to ensure the bottoms don't bust out. Because they're very saucy from the slaw. I got a couple pieces of very large tuna that was cooked medium & I couldn't bite through. It was very tough. Yet other pieces were very tasty & the perfect texture. Hubby got the fried shrimp. They were incredible. 10/10. Cooked perfectly!! The fries were very good & THICK but lacked any seasoning/salt at all. The tarter was very good. read more

Our food was terrible. Shrimp tasted like boxed frozen, fried shrimp. Fish was not good. Green beans cold. The Cole slaw was warm and even the iced tea was horrible. Plus it was expensive. Don't waste your money or time there. read more

The service was great. Our server was on top of everything and was willing to take care of all our needs. The Flounder stuffed with crab and covered in crawfish sauce was cooked to perfection and just the right amount of seasoning. The fried shrimp was a big hit along with the fred fish. Then for dessert it was fried cheesecake and Key lime pie. Great place to go relax with family and friends. read more

Such a cute, fun place. We went to watch the sun go down and were seated in a primo location. In reality there really isn't a bad spot in the restaurant to see the beautiful sunset. I ordered a mai tai...delish an for my entree the grilled tilapia also another great choice! The live music was very tropical and fun and the service was fast and friendly. I couldn't think of a more perfect way to end your day than to have some good food, a yummy cocktail, watch the beautiful sunset on the water and be with the one you love. read more

We rolled in at 7 pm on a Monday night in March (early Spring Break season) and had an hour wait. The place was hopping. The atmosphere is fun with live music. It buoyed our spirits and made us feel like the world might just survive this COVID mess. When we finally got seated, we ordered bacon wrapped shrimp and oysters on the half shell. The sides of potatoes and green beans were good, as were the shrimps. My spouse sucked down all of the oysters and was super happy with them. The kids ate fried shrimp and chicken fingers. By the time we were seated on the patio, it was very dark. The best part was seeing a dolphin swimming in the water. It kept coming back to the light and jumping for us. read more

This place needs some real special recognition for their bloody Mary's. We're on vacation here for a few days and are on our second trip over to Doc's for some drinks. Check out the pictures of these things! The bacon is marinated in brown sugar and pepper corns. It's to die for! The service was great and so was the food. The bartender was great! Think her name was Maya. We ordered the crab guacamole as an appetizer and it wasn't the best, just okay. Couldn't really taste any crab and I think we only got "chip portions" or the last of chips. We ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and the crab stuffed flounder. Both of these were amazing. The food came out so fast and normally we would feel rushed to get in and out quickly in a place like this for the establishment to serve more customers but this wasn't the place. Even though we visited mid-September, there was still an hour wait. We decided to sit at the bar, which wasn't very comfortable (and I know the history with bar and why it is still the way it is), this and the appetizer disappointment being my only reason for not giving 5 stars. Went there for a couple of drinks and ordered crab cakes to go. I would recommend the Padre island as an alcoholic beverage, it's a tad fruity but strong. The crab cake was okay, I didn't like the bread crumb around it, the inside was good though. It was made with fresh crab meat. The service was decent, the bartender was nice. The view was very nice, if your lucky, you can see dolphins too. :) There is an upstair and downstairs, the upstairs is where you dine and drink comfortably, the downstairs is more of a bar area with picnic tables. This place is fantastic! We passed by numerous times and wouldn't stop because they were ALWAYS packed.... WELL I UNDERSTAND WHY!! We ordered a grande Bloody Mary and good lord it was AH-MAZING! We got the seafood queso and an order of huppies with dipping sauce.... by now I'm clearly eating past my limit but both were mouth watering. The seafood queso was rich and hearty with big chunks of shrimp in it with chips that had just the right amount of salt. I ordered the grilled coconut shrimp and added a crab cake with a side salad. The shrimp had the most flavor the coconut wasn't over powering at all! It had grilled pineapple also!! The bar offers a huge selection of adult beverage makings. We were celebrating our 39th anniversary, so a restaurant of this caliber is certainly appropriate. The drinks, a Tanqueray Martini with an Orange twist for her and a Manhattan straight up with four roses bourbon for me, were perfectly sized and delicious. The restaurant boasts a large freestanding humidor with a nice selection of cigars. I also noticed a wall of personal humidor lockers for customers to keep their personal cigars available. This all suggested a cigar room, but I never saw it. The wait staff, were mostly attentive. Instead of depending on your bartenders to deliver food, I'm more accustomed to restaurants, of this caliber, to have a dedicated wait staff for bar dining patrons. Especially considering they have a large number of high top tables for dining in the bar. Friday nights, like when we were there, get pretty hectic for the bartenders. The calamari, instead of the rings so commonly served, were calamari strips. If you like Lamb this is a great dish, oh and the chops were huge! The Bad. Nothing to see here. The Disappointing. I ordered the USDA Prime Ribeye with Citrus-Braised Baby Carrots & Whipped Potatoes and a Dijon Herbal Butter. I order my steaks cooked medium-rare "Pittsburgh style". First, everyone knows what a ribeye steak looks like, it has that very distinctive shape, you can't miss it. If what they served me was a ribeye, then I'm the true Bad Bunny! When the entrees were delivered they didn't give us steak knives, we had to ask for them. Now maybe they were that confident in the tenderness of the meat that they didn't feel we needed steak knives. Or maybe, just maybe, they should be tending bar instead of delivering food. Second the menu clearly states USDA Prime Ribeye. I know what that is, and what was served me wasn't that. As I stated I order my steaks "Pittsburg style". What that means is the steak is first cooked to an internal temperature that is 5 to 10° short of medium-rare. The steak is then immersed in either melted butter or tallow and then immediately thrown on a very hot grill. This causes the grill to engulf the steak in flames charring the outside of the steak and raising the internal temperature to medium-rare. I do it all the time on my backyard grill. While my steak did have some charring, it wasn't Pittsburg style. Conclusions. Would we go back? Absolutely if for nothing else to get that crispy calamari. Would I order the steak again? Not without getting some assurances that I get a Rib Eye and they know how to cook it Pittsburg style. I guess, in the end, this has all the potential to be a high-end steakhouse, for our visit I felt they didn't meet that expectation.

Sucks because night one of our vacay we really enjoyed dining here. So much so we tried eating here before we left town. The hostess clearly does not listen to customers because she wrote us down for twelve guests when I told her two adults, two kids, and a high chair. After an hour and a half waiting, I sent my husband upstairs to check on our table where he was brushed off. Once I realized the whole waiting area downstairs had cleared out I checked on the table where the hostess assured us we were not passed. When they tried to sit us at a twelve top I understood what had took place. My kids at this point starving and miserable I y tried to shake it off. Mistakes happen. Next, after almost an hour of waiting for our food I realize they had sat a big top at the twelve top table they previously attempted to sit us at. The large party had ordered and were being dished out their plates while we- At this point still no food- and furious. I left. They offered to pack up food for us but serious at that point I'm not spending that money on a bad experience and cold seafood takeout. Staff didn't care at all for their errors. My wife and I headed to Corpus for a little R&R and as usual we hit our favorite restaurant in Corpus. I always read yelp to see if they are still up to par and see what to avoid. On one review the service wasn't up to snuff but we couldn't believe that based on our experiences we've had in the past and the crab cakes took a few hit's, which happens to one of our favorites on the menu. We came in on a busy Saturday night and the wait was less than ten minutes and as usual we where greeted like we eat there every day. We didn't stray to far off our usual favs on the menu. We started with the crab cakes and they where off the chart as usual. We moved onto the Shrimp and Avocado Salad that they gladly split for us and it was fresh and very tasty. My wife had the Yellow Fin Tuna and is was cooked perfectly and fresh with the Avocado Baja Sauce was crazy good. I had my old standby the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and it delivered. The views of the bay and service is my we always find ourselves hitting this gem of a restaurant. I wish they where in Dallas. read more

Only good thing about this establishment is the view. Beautiful view but horible restaurant. The staff at Doc's are mostly a bunch of kids who could care less about you or the service they provide. Plan to wait a very long time for very over cooked over priced food. The waitress never returned to our table after taking our order. No refills on drink here. If you are lucky enough to flag down a kid waiter they act upset you want another drink. I do not have anything good to say about Doc's except for the view. Will not be returning back to Doc's. Snoopy's is right next door I can get the same view with better service and edible food. read more

Doc's is wonderful. You can't ask for a better atmosphere when wanting to eat seafood on the beach. The entire place is open air with a few coolers and fans around to create a cool breeze. The food is absolutely wonderful. The service is great. Staff was friendly, music was great and food was fabulous. Lovely view of the water with interesting ship traffic. Depending on where you sit you can get a killer view due to the open sides. The crab stuffed flounder was incredible. I recommend the Tsunami drink next time you visit the Doc's. This place sounds more appealing then it really is. Docs is an extremely dirty restaurant with very incompetent staff. The service is so bad you should not go there hungry cause your not going to get served anytime soon. Our waitress took our order and never came back. Finally got our food and it was just awful. This is by far the best seafood place Ive tried in a long time! I travel weekly so that alone speaks volumes. The service and food was immaculate. I originally came for the stuffed chicken but ended up with the blackened flounder topped with a crawfish poblano cream sauce, roasted red potatoes and green beans. The best thing about this restaurant is definitely the view -- it's absolutely beautiful and makes for a lovely atmosphere. The service was also very friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't quite live up to expectations. Every time my husband and I come to Corpus we have to stop here. Amazing and always friendly staff, and we've yet to have a bad meal. The chicken sandwich and shrimp po boy are our favorites, but everything we've had is always good. Great place to catch the sunset, but the atmosphere is always relaxing and never too loud.
