Their espresso is superb, the document hot chocolate is not only esthetically pretty but it's delicious and their document lattes are phenomenal as well. I also enjoy dog watching on a bustling Saturday mornings at this dog friendly coffee shop. Love the vibe, barista, unique decor (minus the fact that the chairs are too hard and uncomfortable to stay for more than 1hr). It's inconspicuous when you try to find this place from the parking lot. Was looking around for a few minutes but I'm so glad that I didn't give up. There is an outdoor area on the parking lot side with a few benches surrounding plants. It's cute! My friend had been raving to me about cold brew coffee in LA and so we both were super excited to try this place out finally today while I was down visiting the area! Honestly, compared to other cold brew coffees I've had back at home, this beats them all easily. I can confidently say that this is my favorite place to get cold brew coffee, it's super refreshing and has this rich taste that cold brew coffee typically lacks (as opposed to its hot counterpart). The one thing that I didn't like as much about the place is how crowded it was (and noisy), even on a Monday afternoon...! But the coffee flavor makes up for it, so it's still a 5-star coffee bar to me. I've tried several nearby cafes (i.e. MCO, Alchemist, etc.), which are all great as well, but I always find myself leaning towards Document whenever I'm craving some good coffee in the area. My personal favorites are their cold brew, hojicha latte, and document latte. Pastries are okay - not the best here, so I'd pass on those. The layout of the shop is a bit odd too. It's definitely a more "community" style/vibe with long tables and multiple chairs occupying said tables, almost like a school cafeteria. However, because the competition is so stiff, i find that the taste of the espresso really has to stand out or at least be up to par. This review was way overdue. I have been coming here for a year or so now and every time I have a good experience. First, coffee well made is always a good start. This place has a few options to pick from and I have tried their mocha and ice latte and both have had a nicely brewed and fresh flavor. You can order in to-go or stay and hangout cups which are great. This is definitely a nice relaxed location for those looking to get some caffeine(or tea) to go with their projects. I literally haven't even tried anything else because I can't imagine any drink living up to the goodness of cold brew. There's always people studying but there seems to be a good amount of community-style tables for everyone. Mainly for the coffee. I ordered the Iced Soy Latte, Sister had the Cold Brew and Brother had the Flat White. My latte was decent, seemed overflowed by the soy milk, that I couldn't even enjoy the coffee. The Cold brew, unlike any cold brew, includes milk and a tad of maple syrup. Whenever the bf orders a cold brew, it's usually black. Again, the milk overpowered the natural flavors of the coffee. I do like that they have a great selection of blends. One of my favorite coffee beans are from Costa Rica, like crack, and they have them here. Had lunch with one of my favorite unnies and she told me I have to try this place because it is so goood. LOCATION-we went in through the back door where the parking lot is. Its valet parking even at lunch time. Its 3 dollars but if you are stopping in and out in less than 15min, you can just park for free. SERVICE- there were two guys that were working when we went in and one of the guy that took our order was very helpful. He suggested the document latte since I told him I like something with milk and with some sweetness. ICED DOCUMENT LATTE-at first, I just thought oh this is good coffee but as I kept drinking it more and more, it really grew on me. The coffee itself was very flavorful and the sweetness didnt overpower the drink which was awesome! They have ample amount of seating where you can study or hang out with friends. As a coffee snob living in K-Town for more than 6 years, this is my goto spot whenever I get lazy to brew a cup of joe at home. Before Starbucks decided to invest and expand into K-Town, Document, along with a few other specialty coffee shops have been serving the community to this day. As a purist, I mostly go for Espresso and Americano, which are on point. My wife loves their Document latte. Drink: Normally I take my coffee black but when here, I make an exception: I come here specifically for their chicory cold brew. The cold brew is essentially a latte with chicory(a type of root), milk and maple syrup. It is very smooth and bears a unique depth as well as aftertaste that is unforgettable (been three years since my last visit). Few coffee places in LA have chicory coffee (it is a Southern thing during a time when coffee was scarce and chicory was ground and drunk as a substitute). Blue Bottle has chicory "New Orleans" coffee but I tell you it is the worst cup of diluted crap you can ever hope to drink so don't bother. Here their chicory coffee is of good quality and is definitely worth a try for those who have never had chicory coffee. Ambience: Innovative and Hipsterish. Service: Service is good: staffs are friendly and polite. Price: It depends on what you get: a pour-over usually runs from $4.5-$5 per cup depending on the kind of bean(s). Here their pour-over runs on average $5.50; if you're a fan of pour-over, it may be fine but I personally find the price a bit high for my taste since I am more of a siphon guy and I can usually make pour-over at home. However their chicory cold brew is a unique drink that is hard to find elsewhere and the $5 they charge for it is more than reasonable. Tip: I don't recommend the meter parking since it's $1 for one hour and you cannot park from 11 am-2pm. Park in the back instead: $2 for valet and 1 hour free for self-park. read more

I came on Sunday (8/16) around 3:50pm and feel so bad for not asking the girl working for her name to rave about her! I've been driving roughly 25-30 minutes each morning for this coffee! From their basic americano to their Document Specialty beverages (Cold brew and horchata) are worth trying! However, I went in today and the barista went above and beyond reminding me why each minute is worth while! She was so sweet and recommended extra oatmilk in the the horchata! I definitely will start adding extra oatmilk for the extra creaminess! She did such an excellent job interacting with me and really educating me on what she knows on their products (that's huge)! She could've gone on her phone because of how slow it was but she decided to interact with me! I ended up getting a drip coffee to try! OMGG!! This is why I love coffee! Stumbled upon this place when COVID first started and this place is an absolute GEM for coffee lovers. A wall of portraits, ceiling lamps made with buckets, wooden plank counters, and a patio deck made with 2x4s. Not pretentious, just simple and somewhat artsy. While you are waiting for your coffee, enjoy the diversity of LA locals with the wall of photos. Single origin coffee is probably the selling point here. There are more than 6 types of beans from different regions and processes for pour overs. While I haven tried everything here, Document has a decent menu for coffee and tea. Someone is bound to find something they like here. My favorite drink to get is the cold brew and I would say they have the best cold brew in town. The flavor profile has a good balance, fruity while having some body. Outdoor seating is available in the back. There is ample seating, but the wooden tables tend to be narrow and the school-inspired chairs are somewhat uncomfortable. Outlets are sparse, so make sure your devices are fully charged before plunking down for a few hours. Wifi is fortunately reliable. While it is certainly possible to chat with your friends here, most people are doing work, so if your voices rise above the background music, then you'll stick out like a sore thumb. Drinks range in price from $3-6. I enjoyed the rich notes of my single origin cold brew ($5), but can't justify paying that much for coffee on a regular basis. Still not a bad place to splurge once in awhile. Parking is available in the shared lot behind Document, but there is usually street parking (1 hour between 8AM and 6PM) out front. It's also easily accessible via public transit. Note: Not sure if I misread the sign, but starting July 7th, Document will apparently close at 7PM.
