2lb Ribeye with crab boiled potatoes
    jessica d.

First time at this restaurant. We went for my brother's birthday. The server was very nice and made the meal enjoyable. The restaurant was this country style kitchen and had homey feel. I enjoyed the food but my family definitely liked it more than I did. It was an okay steak, but didn't wow me for the price that it was ($88 for a 2lb steak). My family ranted and raved about it. The house salad was delicious. I absolutely loved the house dressing! So yummy and tangy! 8/10 The broiled shrimp was very tangy, almost too tangy but still enjoyable. I prefer the steak, so the shrimp for me was 6/10. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and had a nice crust which I enjoy. Seasoned perfectly....just not worth it in my book for that price. 7/10 The potatoes were the stars of the meal to me!The French fries are cut in house and taste amazing! The crab boiled potatoes are cooked just right and seasoned nicely! 8/10

Doe's Eat Place, 3723 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. While my Restaurant Week review is slightly delayed, I'm pleased to share my experience. Following recommendations, I sampled both the tamales and steak. Although the tamales weren't part of the three-course Restaurant Week menu, they are highly recommended. The three-course meal included mushroom soup, a 24-oz steak with mashed potatoes and collard greens, and a dessert (the name of which I regrettably forgot). I plan to return to Doe's Eat Place to enjoy the tamales again and explore other menu items. #tonylameats #batonrougela #doeeatplace #doeseatplace #steak #tamales #restaurantweekbr

Sorry I dug into it rather fast before taking the picture. This was a 24 oz ribeye steak part of their restaurant week set menu

Had never stopped at that restaurant before and with my birthday coming up soon decided to treat myself to a steak dinner since it's restaurant week in Baton Rouge. Their set menu offered three different types of protein but I was in the mood for steak so I ordered the 24 oz ribeye which was the steak option on the restaurant week menu. It came with garlic mashed potatoes, a house salad with a bright vinaigrette and a strawberry shortcake dessert. The salad was a nice portion with a very bright and tangy vinaigrette. The steak was absolutely HUGE - I mean the menu said it was 24 oz but I didn't realize how big 24 oz was until they brought me the plate. The meal was well seasoned and delicious and they cooked it exactly as I asked for, just pink in the middle and not mooing. The strawberry cake option on the set menu was a little disappointing. But I was already so full having eaten half of the steak and potatoes that it was just a touch for dessert which was fine. Don't think I would have ordered it off the menu at a separate price though. They did have two other dessert options but I was so full by the time the waiter came around to ask what I wanted for dessert that I chose the strawberry shortcake thinking it would be super light, which it was. Took one star off because although the steak was wonderfully seasoned and cooked to perfection, it was not the most tender steak I've ever had. Not tough, but not super tender either. Certainly acceptable for the price that I paid which I think was $60 for the set menu of salad, steak, and dessert for restaurant week. They had two other protein choices for the restaurant week set menu - a pork chop dish and a lamb dish. Will definitely go back there to try their hamburgers and their club sandwiches for lunch.

Hmmm... atmosphere wasn't for me. I went at lunch time and I felt a little out of place, my server was nice though. I decided on the lunch burger. It was okay. I didn't like the fries at all. Nice price point for lunch. My meal was less than $20.00. I probably won't return.

The place is amazing. The ribeye is worth every dime. The fries are great. It is the highest quality, best tasting food. And, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. Kit is the best. She's friendly, engaging and makes the visit enjoyable.

I I just can't stop coming here. I love everything I've tried. I love the Filet! The chicken fried steak is massive. It's huge and it's not one of those things you get at the grocery store. It's an actual sirloin if they beat tenderizing sells huge stick it covers the entire platter a hand batter season it up and fry it comes with plenty of brown gravy or country white gravy, which ever you like the best. I love the white gravy.. the french fries or hand cut and homemade you can't beat how good they are but they have mashed potatoes if you prefer. The mac & cheese is also a delicious thing here and today I went for lunch and I had to the roast beef debris poboy. It tasted like I was down in the Quarter the French quarter that is if you haven't been me to get down here and give me a try I have a big old parking lot and the service is always friendly and good.

This was a nice vibe spot. Food was good. I dined here my other con workers. Service was good. We were early birds so seating wasn't a problem. We had a good time. I will definitely return with my wife and see what her take is on it.

No corn husk????! No season but salt and pepper. Make it homemade if you're going to charge homemade prices.

Everything was so bland, don't advertise something that's supposed to be one of your top sellers like tamales, and it comes from a factory

Two pound porterhouse with red potatoes.

Perfectly cooked steaks and good tamales. Not your usual steakhouse combination, but it works. Even though there is a limited menu and the steaks are insanely expensive ($50 and up), most of them are big enough to share. And very good - well seasoned and perfectly cooked to order. If you are a steak lover, this will hit the spot. The broiled shrimp appetizer is, essentially, a good New Orleans bbq shrimp (very good). The angry shrimp is a good sweet and spicy fried shrimp, but not too spicy. I'm told the fried asparagus is good, too. I'll have to believe my friends on that one (everything else is very good, so I'm sure the asparagus is, too). There is a story about how tamales became a staple of the Mississippi delta, but whatever that is, the tamales here are a fantastic example of tamales done right - perfect ratio of meat and masa, and served with a good chili. Overall, a very good experience with great food. Even if it's not affordable for a weekly adventure (you could have a steak salad for an affordable price), this is definitely a fantastic place for good steak!

I guess this is basically the same thing as our restaurant in Port Alan instead of barbecue, they specialize in fish and shrimp. I did get shrimp as my protein for the potato and it was delicious Definitely go, give it a shot. The server was very nice and friendly. Parking very simple. Interiors mostly white. They've got some art on the wall, looks like it's done locally. Most mostly of their other restaurant. If I had to complain and be picky, I would say take that Christmas tree down. I always find the tacky when restaurants or businesses leave their Christmas tree up all year. It's never the flex they think it is. But who cares. The food is good.

And shows how disgusting your place of business really is. SEE UPDATED PHOTOS BELOW! On March 23, 2025 I purchased crawfish from B&T seafood and was absolutely horrified to find a hair scrunchie with actual hair still tied to it mixed in with my food. This is beyond disgusting and completely unacceptable. It raises serious concerns about the establishment's hygiene, food safety, and overall cleanliness. What made this situation even worse was how the business responded. When I brought this to their attention, they showed no concern, no accountability, and no professionalism. Instead of apologizing or offering any type of resolution, they responded with dismissive, passive-aggressive remarks, essentially telling me I'd be "surprised" by the things people find in food--as if a scrunchie with someone's hair in it is a normal or acceptable occurrence. I am disgusted, disappointed, and frankly, traumatized by this experience. Not only was my food completely inedible, but the business also refused to acknowledge the severity of the issue. They have made no attempt to resolve this--no refund, no apology, nothing. Their lack of basic hygiene and their unprofessional attitude make it clear that they do not value their customers' health or trust. I am filing this complaint because this business needs to be held accountable for its negligence. A hair scrunchie in food is not a small mistake--it is a serious food safety violation that should never happen in any restaurant. I expect this matter to be addressed immediately. I urge the BBB to investigate this establishment, as their complete disregard for cleanliness and customer safety is deeply concerning. No one should have to go through this kind of experience when purchasing food.
