Waited an hour and 15 minutes for two dozen chargrilled oysters and a kids meal while most of the tables in the restaurant were empty and there seemed to be plenty of staff working. Had to flag down the waitress over an hour in just to get a water refill. The kids meal was warm and perfect, and one dozen oysters were ok, but the second dozen were so overcooked they were almost impossible to get off the shell. After waiting again for the waitress to come back by, we were told the manager would come out, but they never did. The only solution offered was refunding the kids meal. Really disappointing experience overall after taking 2 hours to receive and eat 2 dozen over cooked oysters and a kids meal especially considering how slow the restaurant was and only seeing our waitress twice.

My first time ever trying Acme. I ordered the house special oysters, which came with a special sauce and an extra kick. They were very flavorful. For my entree, I ordered the half po-boy half cup of soup/gumbo. I got the crawfish tail po-boy with seafood gumbo. The gumbo was very tasty but only had two shrimp in them. I wish I had gotten the shrimp po-boy. The crawfish tails were so small and slightly overfried. I asked for the mayo on the side but there was a type of yellowish sauce on my sandwich that was pretty good. Service was good considering they were packed. Given the dining room is one big empty space, I could see that everyone received good service. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit and will go back again.

I wanted to take a moment to share an update. Monique from Acme reached out to me personally to discuss my recent experience. She was both understanding and sincerely apologetic about the situation. Monique went above and beyond to make things right, which to me reflects top-notch customer service. Thank you, Monique -- because of your professionalism and care, I'll definitely be giving Acme another try.

They've got the best chargrilled oysters in town. Even after I've tried some of the place that others have recommended. It's nice to sit at the bar when it's not too busy and have a dozen. The last time I was there was during Christmas meeting family who were in town. They'd already eaten by the time I arrived so I got a desert with them. Peach Cobble. Wow. It was great. Never heard of it before. My only issue with this place is the acoustics. Love the bar but if you're sitting on the floor everything can get loud and echoey making it hard to talk to the people in your party. This last time we didn't get any of that. We were able to have conversations and were able to hear one another but still keep that in mind. The waitress was very nice cheery and happy, maybe because of the holidays but it made our experience a lot better. My sister's husband got oysters and I can't remember what else but he loves to complain and I didn't hear anything bad about it so that's a good sign. And if you love beer, I remember they used to serve beer in these big giant fishbowl glasses, which I'm sure they still do even though I didn't see any this time around. The bloody Mary's usually hit the spot as well.

We went for lunch at Acme Oyster House. If you sit at a table in the bar area you can see them grilling the oysters. My husband ordered a dozen of Chargrilled oysters. He said they had a good flavor but way too small. Not worth the price. ($29.99) We ordered a crab cake and it was very good. Didn't get the corn with it but the manger stopped by our table and I asked about that. They do sell just the crab cake that comes on a bed of lettuce which is not on the menu. The menu has crab cake with Corn Maque Choux. The manager went get us the Corn to go with our crab cake. I had the half oyster po boy (which comes with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and mayonnaise) and seafood gumbo. It was delicious.

Craw puppies and they were good!

Stopped in on a late Friday afternoon and immediately greeted and sat. The server was so nice and attentive. We ordered half a dozen raw and charbroiled oysters and I have to say they weren't great. The regular were bland and watery. Probably my least favorite of any I've ever had somewhere. The charbroiled were good but a tad overcooked. Great flavor in those though. Our 2 meals were ok though. We did both enjoy them. Shared a little of both. The butter beans were delicious. We would go back and try more because the ambiance and the service deserve that. Its casual BR vibe makes it feel cozy.

This was my first time at Acme and I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped. The oysters were pretty decent but I've had better. The redfish was okay. The veggies literally had no seasoning. Not even salt and pepper. I don't know if I will be coming back :(

Located off the interstate and in a busy shopping area. Parking is normally not an issue. Restaurant is well staffed and clean. My daughter ordered chargrilled oyster. They were very good. I ordered shrimp poboy. It was okay. Nothing special and was very dry By husband had red beans and rice with fried fish. It was good but also nothing special. Oysters as to be expected are the best thing. Everything else is just mediocre.

I LOVE Acme and will get it every chance I get. My favorite location is the New Orleans French quarter location but I've visited the Gulf Shores and now the Baton Rouge locations. The food is incredible. Always satisfies. My favorites: 10 napkin roast beef poboy, charbroiled oysters, butter bean plate, fried catfish, boo fries.

We found Parrain's Seafood while searching for authentic Louisiana food and a good po'boy/seafood…read morespot before making our drive back home to Houston. We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

I had really been looking forward to trying Parrain's Seafood, but unfortunately my experience was…read moredisappointing. Our waitress, Kate M., didn't have the best customer service. She came across as short, unfriendly, and overall not very pleasant. I first ordered a Banana Foster's Martini, but she came back and said they didn't have the ingredients. No problem--I asked for an Espresso Martini instead. A few minutes later, after bringing everyone else's drinks, she returned and simply said they couldn't make that either and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I just declined. When it was time to order, our table had nine people. She took my husband's order, then went around the table taking everyone else's order. By the time she got back to me, she said, "Okay, is that it?" I had to remind her that she hadn't taken my order yet. I ordered the crab and corn bisque, a salad, and the stuffed catfish with creamed spinach. The salad came out quickly and was very good. Then everyone else at the table received their meals while I only received my bisque. After waiting, I was told my stuffed catfish "didn't come out right" and had to be remade. At that point, I honestly wondered if it was a joke. It wasn't. By the time my entrée arrived, everyone else was nearly finished eating. To the restaurant's credit, they did remove the stuffed catfish from my bill, and I appreciated that. However, the entire experience left me feeling overlooked from start to finish. My biggest suggestion would be for our waitress to work on her customer service. A smile goes a long way. Saying things like "Give me that plate," slamming cups onto the table, and appearing annoyed throughout the meal doesn't create a welcoming dining experience. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.
