Waited an hour and 15 minutes for two dozen chargrilled oysters and a kids meal while most of the tables in the restaurant were empty and there seemed to be plenty of staff working. Had to flag down the waitress over an hour in just to get a water refill. The kids meal was warm and perfect, and one dozen oysters were ok, but the second dozen were so overcooked they were almost impossible to get off the shell. After waiting again for the waitress to come back by, we were told the manager would come out, but they never did. The only solution offered was refunding the kids meal. Really disappointing experience overall after taking 2 hours to receive and eat 2 dozen over cooked oysters and a kids meal especially considering how slow the restaurant was and only seeing our waitress twice. read more

My first time ever trying Acme. I ordered the house special oysters, which came with a special sauce and an extra kick. They were very flavorful. For my entree, I ordered the half po-boy half cup of soup/gumbo. I got the crawfish tail po-boy with seafood gumbo. The gumbo was very tasty but only had two shrimp in them. I wish I had gotten the shrimp po-boy. The crawfish tails were so small and slightly overfried. I asked for the mayo on the side but there was a type of yellowish sauce on my sandwich that was pretty good. Service was good considering they were packed. Given the dining room is one big empty space, I could see that everyone received good service. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit and will go back again. read more

They've got the best chargrilled oysters in town. Even after I've tried some of the place that others have recommended. It's nice to sit at the bar when it's not too busy and have a dozen. The last time I was there was during Christmas meeting family who were in town. They'd already eaten by the time I arrived so I got a desert with them. Peach Cobble. Wow. It was great. Never heard of it before. My only issue with this place is the acoustics. Love the bar but if you're sitting on the floor everything can get loud and echoey making it hard to talk to the people in your party. This last time we didn't get any of that. We were able to have conversations and were able to hear one another but still keep that in mind. The waitress was very nice cheery and happy, maybe because of the holidays but it made our experience a lot better. My sister's husband got oysters and I can't remember what else but he loves to complain and I didn't hear anything bad about it so that's a good sign. And if you love beer, I remember they used to serve beer in these big giant fishbowl glasses, which I'm sure they still do even though I didn't see any this time around. We went for lunch at Acme Oyster House. If you sit at a table in the bar area you can see them grilling the oysters. My husband ordered a dozen of Chargrilled oysters. He said they had a good flavor but way too small. Not worth the price. ($29.99) We ordered a crab cake and it was very good. Didn't get the corn with it but the manger stopped by our table and I asked about that. They do sell just the crab cake that comes on a bed of lettuce which is not on the menu. The menu has crab cake with Corn Maque Choux. The manager went get us the Corn to go with our crab cake. R&B music was blasting, setting a lively vibe, and the receptionist greeted us warmly, seating us promptly. The wait staff was on point, and the restaurant was clean--same for the restroom, which was a nice touch. I ordered a red sangria cocktail, but it came off a bit watered down. For appetizers, we got chicken wings, crab claws, and chargrilled oysters. My youngest, now a bit of a foodie, called the crab claws so-so, and I'd have to agree. The wings were pretty tame, lacking that bold kick. The chargrilled oysters had good flavor but were overcooked. The boys opted out of entrees, but I went for a sausage po'boy and the chicken and sausage gumbo--or so I thought. They served seafood gumbo instead, and it was bland, more Midwestern than Louisiana. Even with a heavy dose of Tabasco, it left me wanting. The final bill stung--three other nearby seafood spots could've delivered more for the price. I went to Acme Oyster house for a Saturday night out to watch a local college game. To our surprise, it wasn't as busy and packed as we thought it would be. We sat in the bar area that had plenty of tvs, so it didn't really matter that where you sat. We started with the Patron Margaritas and they were so good, we kept ordering them all night! We ended up trying the Crab Cake for our appetizer, which I would highly recommend. The Crab Cake is huge, tasty, and very dense! It's more than enough to share with two people. For our main entrees, I had the 1/2 & 1/2 Shrimp & Fish platter. It didn't take long to come out. The shrimp were fried nicely, but the fried fish didn't taste like catfish. It really tasted and looked more like tilapia. The chicken andouille gumbo was okay as well. Of course, the chargrilled oysters are the star and they never get that wrong! Overall experience was good because our server was amazing! The food could use way more seasoning and spices though. read more

We got right down to the business and ordered half dozen char grilled - dang these are good! Next my wife had the crab cakes with spicy remoulade sauce. OUTSTANDING! We decided to take a drive and pick a spot from the internet. I chose this one. From the pics (or my closed mind) I thought this was a white tablecloth establishment. It is NOT! Upon walking in I badly wanted to walk out but I was there for the oysters and decided to give them a try. I got a dozen of the chargrilled. Other than them being really small the char was right. I then decided to get the grilled shrimp dish. Not in my smallest dreams did I think they would have bbq sauce on them. The dish reminded me of something I let my 13 yo niece make and smile to make her feel good. The hush puppies were ok tbo. The hubs had some type of fish with gravy ontop. Another first for me. The lady who i assume was the waitress had an attitude out the gate. No greeting just how many. She counted the menus and silverware as if she were annoyed, she put us in the doorway for seating. I politely asked if we could have a seat further back out the entry- multiple ppl walking in and out, we have elderly ppl. She slammed the menu and forks, said pick wherever and walked off- didn't get her name but i have a picture. Myself & father were stunned and confused at the dramatics. We stood a couple of minutes with stuff of teens just standing behind the plexi glass just standing around. eventually a different person came out the back named zack. He sat us at a table along the wall. Zack wasn't terrible just wasn't good. We never got a refills, orders were wrong, asking for anything took 5 min but he at least tried and we did tip him & very well. Service was so slow. No one rushed him but the young man seemed lost or like it was his first time waiting on a table- service was extremely lacking. Bill was $357 and i have had better food at Mcdonald's. No one really liked their food. Multiple Food orders were in correct. My cousin ordered a chicken cesar salad and rather late they brought out a shrimp salad. We gave it back to zack and it was another 20 min to get the chicken salad. We had 4 side salad and they brought out 3 and 1 full salad. As zack was taking an order one cousin asked for the ponchatrain platter instead of bowl of gumbo although he had not put in the orders it took 10 min to change her order. Drinks took 10-15 min to come out. Once again no one rushed him but we gently reminded him multiple times about missing items. My food was a crab cake platter. It was dry, salty and came with no sauce. It was dressed in the most ridiculous cheap way over ever seen. Literally place the dry crabcake on the single piece of french bread with 10 fries sprinkled around it. The oysters were really tiny as well. We won't be returning and i don't recommend this place to anyone especially a large party. I think those young waiters need a manager and they all need to be retrained. appetizer dishes were left on the small tables as meals came out. never got refills. We were never checked on or asked how is the food. The level of attitudes, standing around and just being unpleasant at 11 am at your job is ridiculous. I've eaten here before and I'm torn on the review. I go for oysters and was disappointed with the charbroiled ones this time. The customer service was excellent. Over all the food was ok, but since I was disappointed with the oysters it tainted how I feel about the visit. I have sat at the bar and eaten five dozen before and they were good. The raw ones were really good. Not salty and fresh tasting. The chicken tenders my grandson had didn't taste great the next day and he really enjoyed the fries. This location is fairly easy to get to. If you're coming off the 10E ramp you'll want to go up to the light and turn in where Trader Joes is located because the way the GPS tells you will have you turning in the gas station that doesn't connect parking lots. We walked in and went to the bar where there was a table open and ordered food. The whole restaurant was short staffed which is normal. It took about 20+ minutes to get 3 dozen chargrilled oysters, fried onion rings and French fries. We moved into the main eating area to have more eating room and they initially wanted to seat us back to back with another table. I didn't like that part. We were able to be seated at a larger table where we were away from others. The waitress eventually came over to take our entrees. The fried shrimp was over seasoned and I didn't finish it, just put it in a to go box and gave it away. I'm on the fence if I was truly happy with the oysters or not. But, the company made up for it. My first time in Baton Rouge and the first restaurant I got to try out! I had never had étouffée or alligator before so take my review with that in mind. But everything I tried was delicious! I think étouffée is one of my favorite dishes now because of this first stop honestly. The fried alligator was good too, kind of reminded me of chicken but gamier? Very tasty with the little dip of sauce they served alongside it. Service was so nice and helpful with suggestions from the menu. This Acme location was a huge disappoint with regards to food taste and quality. I've been to the location in New Orleans many times over the past 15 years and always highly recommend it to others. When I saw there was one in Baton Rouge I was so excited to eat here. The ambiance is the same, chill with 80s/90s vibes, welcoming staff, and a busy bar. The raw oysters came out extremely dirty and sandy, as if they weren't thoroughly rinsed before shucking. The black dirt from the shells were all over our oysters. They also were not fully shucked, so the underneath was still partially attached. The cocktail sauce was extremely horseradish heavy as well. I ordered the soft shell crab and while it was good, it was extremely salty. The fries were generic (probably frozen). Two of my friends got jambalaya and said it was underwhelming. I will say the one thing that continued to be delicious was the chargrilled oysters. Always the best chargrilled oysters I've ever had. Overall disappointed and probably wouldn't go back if I'm in town but would recommend the chargrilled oysters. read more
