We've had five sessions so far and in those five sessions, along with the homework that I gladly do, I have helped my dog be more controlled on the leash and be more controlled and regulated at home. She's more comfortable and more confident now than she was when I got her. Even though I know the work isn't over, I'm confident knowing that I have Drea to help me and to inform me on best practices. He's a 2 year old American Staffie/Basset Hound/Chow/Terrier mix from Florida--a sweet, cuddly, goofy, hunk. Otis was SO ready to be loved and properly cared for, but as he settled into his new home it became clear he had never been socialized, showed physical and emotional signs of severe abuse, and had major anxiety/fear of strangers. We felt in over our heads, and worried Otis might harm someone out of fear (no fault of his own) but felt committed to giving Otis every chance we could to thrive. We found Drea on Yelp and were drawn to her experience with rescue dogs in particular. We contacted her right away and had an appointment set up within days. Drea came to our apartment to meet us and Otis and it instantly felt like the stars had aligned. She had total confidence upon meeting him-- no fear, and a great openness and connection with him and us. The first thing she said when she met Otis was "ok, you guys got yourself a real southern hound!" We knew we had found the right person. Drea observed right from the start that Otis is a pack dog and how important it was going to be for us to grow his pack and take steps to build both his and our confidence. Drea's training method focuses on the role that both owner and pet play and how those roles need to be established and reinforced through commitment, repetition, and positive motivation as the key drivers of success. Over the last 10 months we've learned how to use our voices, bodies and body language to do everything from solidifying Otis' basic obedience skills to being able to take Otis and ourselves out of our comfort zones and introduce new people, places and experiences into our lives. The results are tangible--a traumatized rescue who used to cower and tuck his tail between his legs on walks now barks with enthusiasm to go outside and wags his upright tail like a helicopter. Otis' behavior with, and fear of strangers is also noticeably different. His default reaction used to be aggression, but he's learned to control those urges, be calm and put his trust in us that all is okay. While we and Otis still have work ahead of us, the tools Drea has and continues to give us have provided invaluable confidence, patience, and a keen understanding of what it means, and what's needed to own and love a rescue pup. We couldn't love our Otis more and we are so grateful to Drea and know she will be a part of our pack for the long haul.

He was going to be left home alone overnight unless I found someone to take him in. I posted in a local Facebook group in a panic, and Devin reached out almost immediately and welcomed my dog into their home. From the very beginning, they went above and beyond to put me at ease, proactively sharing their business information, reviews, ID, and certifications. They sent updates and photos throughout the night, and it was obvious my dog was being treated like one of their own. My dog came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. Robert is very personable and never made me feel like I had messed up my dog's training (or lack thereof) previously, or that I was a bad owner for that (like some trainers can). He immediately began working with them and me, thoroughly explaining the why behind everything we did/will do to address their behavior concerns. I really enjoy that his approach is based in ABA and operant/classical conditioning instead of dominance/alpha methods. After just two session, we have had our first real loose leash walks, the barking at the doorbell has decreased and we have a plan in place to continue to eliminate it that is progressing well so far! And one of my dogs has finally learned "stay" for the first time. Our first session, there was a cancellation due to a snowstorm, and they were very communicative and had my session rescheduled within the next 2 days! I bought a package for my then-11-yr-old Puli, who I'd recently brought to NY after spending the majority of her life living with my mom in Florida. My dog is quite anxious and barks a lot, and struggled with the transition from living with one person to 8 overnight. I sought Twahlee's help in correcting my dog's anxious tendencies because at this stage of her life, the proper training techniques Twahlee has to offer would have been extremely difficult to implement. He helped give me an array of tools to help teach my dog stronger obedience, which would then lead to greater control over my dog. About 2 years later, I moved into a new home with a housemate who has a dog that can be aggressive with other dogs. Because I hadn't used my entire package, I asked Twahlee if there was a chance he could come by and apply one of my pre-paid classes to visit our home and assess how the two dogs exist in the home. He let me know that packages expire after one year, but that he would come anyway, because ultimately he just wants to help others. This was highly generous of him to do, and I'm extremely grateful for his flexibility. At the end of the day, choosing to work with a trainer is less so to train your dog than to train yourself on how to better manage your pet, and Twahlee did a great educating me on areas I could be doing better. His help and kindness over the last few years has been greatly appreciated, and I can say with great confidence he can make a meaningful difference in every dog and trainer's life.

In a few sessions, Lily started prancing next to us as we walked. She sat and looked at me when the big dogs passed by. We were even greeted by a neighbor with, "Here comes the best trained dog in the neighborhood!" When I got my puppy, Fred introduced Lily to Rocky and they are best buds.
