My girlfriend and I stopped in today as she wanted to "talk" A "talk" is never good in my experience. This place is close to the house and we both know where it is. My first impression was really good. It's open, airy, clean and the staff is extremely pleasant. I had a beer and a burger and both were just right. The beer was icy cold and the burger was hot, juicy and well made. You can or outdoors or indoors or right on the cusp of both which is really cool. The parking is plentiful and the parking lot is safe. There was a few transients in the parking lot asking for change but this particular parking lot near Home Depot has a real problem with this year round. I was quite happy with my meal, my beer and the service. I will happily return. And the best thing? It wasn't a bad "talk". My girlfriend told me she loved me and wanted to ask if we could move to be girlfriends, officially. Of course I said yes. We make a great couple. I love her deeply. read more

First time here as I was meeting some friends nearby. I had the Ceasar Salad topped with blackened chicken. My wife had the Nachos Supreme. My salad was delicious. The romaine tasted fresh and the chicken was only slighty overcooked. A copious amount of croutons topped the salad. My wife's nachos were gorgeous and were sumptuous. They were meaty, cheesy, and nicely flavored, but the jalapenos were the star. The sevice was excellent and responsive. The tavern is clean albeit a bit rustic. read more

We moved to Bear Valley a few months ago and have been coming here at least weekly ever since. It has a great dive bar feel, the food is outstanding, and the staff is so friendly. 11/10 recommend. Cheap, ice cold beer. Stellar burgers. A decidely blue collar crowd. No frills and uncomfortable booth seating. Dog House is petty much everything you could want from a neighborhood dive bar. We really love this place and come back whenever we want to enjoy a casual, IDGAF spot to unwind after a long week. I think what I like most is that whether it's your first or fiftieth time there, the staff makes you feel like a regular. They are as attentive or hands off as you want them to be and really know how to hustle if it's busy. Food doesn't sit in the window and beers are poured and served quickly. It's actually a little dangerous how much you can drink in a short amount of time. We've also tried a few menu items, all of it standard bar food but made fresh and cooked well. No frozen crap thrown in the fryer to save a few bucks. What keeps me coming back are the burgers. Meat isn't a mass produced or cooked into a hockey puck. They're thick, juicy and filling with all your favorite toppings. Nothing crazy or hipster, but still thoughtfully made. We're yet to stick around for late night shenanigans, but that's not really our scene anyway. Come enjoy the patio and a cold one this Friday. We'll see you there. read more

This place is your typical bar and grill with a friendly neighborhood charm. This is a great place to grab pub food and drinks. The food is really delicious and conistent. We come here for lunch often but have grabbed late night bites as they serve food until midnight. The staff is amazing and a big part of it's charm. It seems they have low turnover because we see the same employees every time we go which is a couple times a month. They always remember us and make a point to say hi. The service and food is always super quick! I can easily get in and out in 30 minutes while I'm my lunch break. This is a great option if your looking for a bite to eat in Bear Valley!! read more

Came in looking for a beer and a quick bite. When the server finally wrapped up her conversation with the numerous regulars and decided to acknowledge me, I could tell I was inconveniencing her. A single diner, probably not worth her time. But, I was able to order a 16oz draught and my thoughts turned to food, I should be getting a menu any second, everything's going to be fine. Instead, the server went back to her conversations, then wholeheartedly welcomes another set of regulars walking in the door. As they exchange pleasantries my patience begins to wane. But what's this I see? She's grabbing a pint glass and pouring a beer (this must be mine, it's the kind I ordered after all, not a type that's hugely popular) multitasking, a hallmark of any good bartender/ server... Nope, she hands my beer to the regular, and asks his guest what he'll have. That was it, I got up and left. I was in the Doghouse for probably 15 minutes, served nothing but distain and indifference. So you're grabbing a neighborhood dive bar with above par food. Place has a divey bar feel, but the food is pretty decent. Nothing extravagant, but solid pub grub at market prices. We came in around 9pm and needed to grab some food after a meeting. Not bad food (I'm a food snob so give me a break), interesting environment and surprisingly good service. Good luck finding this place. Think King Soopers off of South Sheridan, then go way back, see the casino bus place to the right, and keep going. They're on the corner of casino bus and no man's land. Sorry if this is confusing, but it took both my wife and I in separate vehicles 10 minutes to find this place. Worth it! Food was really pretty good - pulled pork hoagie covered in slaw with a side of fries was $7.95 or something like that. Fries were really good. Sandwich was solid. Totally full with the amount of food. Actually should have stopped sooner as I was too full. Service - absolutely ecstatic with the attention to food, drinks, checking in. For a divey bar this is their winning point. Atmosphere: divey not biker, sports not cheering, music I have no idea: we had country and Metallica in the same 45 minutes. And a little loud. I literally moved within a mile of this place and while I'm not necessarily the bar hopping type, it's nice to know there's a cute little watering hole within walking distance of my house! There's ample and open seating with booths accessible by two sides, and it's just a casual atmosphere. They offer a decent menu of your typical bar food eats like fried pickles and hot wings... CAUTION their hottest sauce is truly hot AF!!!! I love hot stuff... like I eat jalapeños for breakfast, lunch and dinner but these hot wings really kicked my ass! Hahaha. So have caution when the servers actually tell you that their hot sauce is hot. If you like a healthy burn in your mouth but not your bum, stick with the buffalo. We ordered several Moscow mules. They were so good! Plus the service here as awesome. I really loved our server. He was this tattooed young guy who had the perfect balance of talking to his customers but still checking on everyone in a timely manner. Worst experience I have ever had at a bar. I have come here multiple times and never been treated the way I was today. I have come here many times and seen people on the patio with their leashed pets. Today there is floor work going on at my house so I thought I could come stay outside on the patio and have a couple drinks while the dogs are tied up and I could get some homework done. Unfortunately as soon as I sat down someone came out and told me dogs are not welcome. I can't very well take them home. Why I was singled out when there have been plenty of pets here is beyond me but me nor my family will be going to a place that picks and chooses who to enforce rules that are not posted on. read more

I was very surprised. We happened to be in the area, and didn't want to eat crizap. We Yelped of course, and found this place. There were comments about burgers and good service so we figured why not? He had a burger (single) and I had a burger (double, heh). We ordered tots and fries, plus drinks. The burgers were actually VERY good. My husband rarely compliments anything, even real magic or unicorns, but he complimented this burger, and this says something. I was in the area during dinner time and decided to check this place out. I ordered the fried mushrooms, a basket of onion rings, and the Good Ol' Boy burger with fries. The mushrooms were okay. It comes with a side of ranch that was flavored with what I believe to be dill. Very overpowering. Not a fan of the ranch. The onion rings were basic beer battered and nothing special. The burger was best part of everything I ordered. The meat was juicy and the bacon crisp. It was quite large and I could only finish half of it. The accompanying fries were nicely seasoned and crisp. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. I'm assuming it's called the Doghouse due to all the pictures of dogs on the wall. It's located at the end of a strip mall, so there is ample parking. read more

But it was hardly welcoming and never got a hello, thank you, etc. I don't think this was on purpose, but the staff when I visited were pretty oblivious to details. For example: - I ordered a whiskey and coke, for example, and the barkeep poured vodka. 2 out of 3 times. - She mentioned that the night was a bit slow, but then proceeded to wash and loudly stack glasses right in front of me, which wasn't my idea of winding down. I covered my ears but this clue wasn't noticed. - I wanted something to snack on, but didn't want a full meal and so I asked if they did half-portions. The reply was no, because they food is "great." I would have liked to have tried the some wings, but the minimum order was $10 for 8, which might be the most pricey in town. Not so relevant for this review, but should you be employing this strategy, on the day I was here, the DMV averaged about 2 mins per number... Meaning I had 2+ hours to kill to cover the time between #600 and #674. That's time for lunch and two beers. The place is a little hard to find - it's really tucked away. It's at the far south end of the section of strip mall containing the DMV. From Home Depot, go east across a though-driveway to the other section of buildings. The bar faces south. As far as the bar itself... slightly too nice for dive. There's a jukebox, pool table, a few TVs, and a golf game for entertainment. 12 taps: 6 macro lagers (bud and friends), 3 great divide, blue moon, Tommyknocker maple brown, and NB seasonal. The usual bottles. Big bar with seating for over a dozen, hi tops, tables, and a few booths. The burgers are pretty solid, very homestyle with a buttered, toasted bun. Burgers come with fries or house-made, crispy, skin-on chips. Overall, tasty food, pretty solid beer selection, and okay ambiance. About a thousand times better than sitting in line at the DMV. read more

Like all bars owned by this bar's parent company, Doghouse Tavern is a great neighborhood spot. The menu is no-frills bar food but it's always well-executed (e.x. "medium" = pink). The tap list is well-rounded, but this isn't a craft beer bar. It's a neighborhood watering hole and anyone specifically looking for craft beer should check out other options in the area (there are several breweries nearby as well as The Pint Room). There are always folks smoking on the patio outside. As a non-smoker I wish they'd have a little better separation between the spaces since it can smell smoky near the patio, but there are almost always a few tables elsewhere. I've gone to the Doghouse Tavern on both busy nights and slow nights and never found the service to be anything but good. There's an internet jukebox (worst invention ever IMHO), pool table, and golf video game if you need something to pass the time beyond friendly conversation. read more

For a vegetarian, having a bar that serves veggie-friendly food is very impressive in itself. You would not believe how many times when I went out with friends I had to resort to fries or onion rings, and MAYBE a salad. I went in about a day after they had first opened in our area. I went in and ordered a spicy veggie wrap. It was pretty good, and they give you a huge bounty of waffle fries with it. I went again, and this time ordered the veggie burger. VERY GOOD. I believe they use Morningstar products. They offer chips as a substitute for free, and $1 more of you want a salad side instead. Because I'm a salad lover and want to be more healthy, I usually opt for the salad side. At first I didn't like that it was an extra dollar, but they gave me a large salad that made up for the price. It is usually tradition that I go with my sister because this place is our "hangout". When I ask for it to be split, they give us two FULL sides. So the $1 extra for salad is easily worth it. The drinks are very good. And best of all, I love the staff there. They know us by name now, and even named a table "TabbyKat" after us. They are VERY friendly, and are very good at keeping an eye out for the tables when drinks and food are running low. The atmosphere of the place is very relaxing. People bring in pictures of dogs and it is mounted all over the walls. The lighting is dark, but not so dark that it is hard to see. During warmer months, they lift up a garage-style partition and there are plenty of shaded tables on their patio to choose from. Careful though, only one toilet for females and males which can be bad if you've had one too many drinks. :) read more
