My favorite bartender from another establishment is now working here and that is what has brought me to this bar. I have been here a few times in the past and also when it was Bear Valley Inn. The doghouse is much nicer, cleaner and friendlier than the old BVI was. They feature Jim Beam for $3 all day!! My favorite!!! The food menu is better than the average bar with smoked wings, lots of burgers and an interesting take on giant hotdogs. The nachos are different than at other bars with chips layed out and drizzled with guacamole, sour cream and other goodies. Very clean, fun and friendly!! read more

Ironically, when I walked into this dog-themed sports bar, Sarah McLaughlin's "Angel" was playing... and then the music got better. Much to my dismay (but not surprise) because it's called "Doghouse," no dogs allowed. The burger was very good and juicy, probably a juicier medium/medium-well... Or maybe it was greasy. I'm unsure, but I liked it nonetheless. The bacon, Swiss, & mushrooms on mine were pretty tasty. The fries were generic and disappointing (so much seasoning potential!), but edible. The double burger was comparable to the 1/3 or 1/2lb at other places. I went at 2pm, so it was quiet with just a bunch of people sitting at the bar, so I can't speak much for the crowd, but it seems casual and friendly. There's a jukebox and a pool table... I imagine people come here to party, but it seemed like the afternoon crowd was just relaxing. Patio has a garage-window opening, which I imagine is nice in the summer. DISABILITY-FRIENDLINESS: Restrooms both have a disability stall. There are tables, booths, and tall tables, as well as the bar itself... You may have to weave in and out of chairs a little, but it's overall very flat, smooth, and open. GENDER-FRIENDLINESS: seems pretty neutral.. I doubt you'd get harassed, except by maybe a random asshole. Bathrooms are multi-person occupancy. Both have at least one stall for privacy (men's only has one stall, 2 urinals). read more

a few of my friends and I stopped by for a few drinks. after about an hour these 2 guys tried to pick a fight with us after we nicely turned down their attempts to get us to take shots. the other customers told us to just leave because the other regulars would back them up rather than doing the right thing, and the bar tenders had zero control of these regulars. as we're trying to defuse the situation and just leave, my friend ended up getting punched in the face by that regular on our way out. we will never stop in again. for a regular to be allowed to come back and drive away business makes no sense. DO NOT COME HERE. THE REGULARS WILL ACT AGGRESSIVELY UNPROVOKED. we did end up calling the cops and no one wanted to give up the name of the guy who assaulted my friend, despite claiming he was a regular and they knew his information. when the cops arrived they informed us that they regularly have to come to this establishment because this happens so often so they are familiar with this location. read more

This place used to be "ok" now it's just bad. Used to have a decent steak sandwich and a good spicy veggie wrap ... Neither are on the menu anymore. The booze selection is slim. The wait staff is HORRIBLE. I mean horrible. The greeting is "what do you want" ... We hadn't even been offered menus yet. Waffle Fries that keep you coming back along with a nice long Happy Hour. Their Buffalo Chicken Wrap is also amazing really spicy though so look out if you aren't into spicy food. Great deal on pints during happy our and usually have Titan IPA on tap which is a plus. I highly recommend this place for a casual hangout. It is hard to find, you have to go all the way back past Cici's pizza in the Bear Valley Shopping Center-well worth the search. read more

This place is tucked away in the back of the Bear Valley shopping center, but it's worth it to hunt it down. Service is always great, and everything on the menu is above average for a bar. This is an amazing little neighborhood pub, with equally amazing food!! We go for the smoked hot wings that are absolutely hot and divine. These wings aren't baby wings either, so an order is quite filling. We also love the waffle fries and fresh pub chips. My kids love the chicken strips (but don't order the kids menu chicken strips, they're lesser quality. The grown up chicken strips are pure perfection). In fact everything we've ever ordered was awesome. Great juke box, lots of televisions for those sporty types. The staff is average so they lose a star, but we love this place anyways :) read more

Decent little neighborhood spot especially if you are within walking distance. Food is OK at best but the fries have changed we think. We swore the fries were much better at one point. NO FRILLS, dive bar atmosphere where it seems like the Postal Worker near retirement would hang out after his shift. Bunch of older guys and if you are looking to meet younger people it wont be at this establishment. Been here a couple times before earlier in the day with good food and service. Tonight was a packed house, but the was not enough servers to go around. Only 3 in the whole place. My husband's first beer had a solid mark of lipstick left on the glass. We ordered salads that came seconds before the meal. I could see our food sitting in the food window for a good 10 minutes before it was even brought. I don't know if someone called on sick, or poor scheduling was involved. Clearly just not enough staff for a full house. But lipstick on a "clean" glass, not cool. Normally the food is good, as long as it doesn't sit in the window forever. I went here a few days ago with some co-workers for a quick bite to eat and none of us left happy. The service was awful, the atmosphere was dull and the food was okay at best. Our server was a younger man (maybe 30), he was very disrespectful and seemed to lack all Motivation for his job. We ended up ordering some onion rings to start things off and they came out soggy and lukewarm. To top things off, the meals were even worse. I wish I could give more stars, but did not have the chance to taste the food or have a drink. After reading the great reviews here, my son and I headed over for happy hour for a beer and quick bite. Upon ordering, we were asked for our ID's, which is fine. The girl was nice, but said she isn't allowed to accept a "vertical ID", and would have to ask her manager....she did, and the manager came over and explained that in CO, a vertical ID expires 20 days after the person turns 21 and he can't take it because of the law. Well, my son is visiting me from Ohio, and this is not the case there. While I understand and respect each establishment to reserve the right to their own policies, what I don't understand is the fact that my son and I have visited several other establishments in CO during his visit, and he was never questioned or turned down because of his "vertical ID". This includes the airport and many other big establishments that can't afford to make a mistake when they are under the legal eye constantly....So, unfortunately, I must give one star for what I feel is some type of discrimination and overall bad business. read more

My friends told me about this place and said I should try out their famous onion rings, so I decided to go the other day with a couple friends and they came out undercooked and soggy, the manager Aaron was very rude to me and my friends and it took forever for him to take our order and it felt like he had no appreciation for his job. I have to agree with the other negative reviews.. Bad beer selection, they have the normal domestics and a couple of micros like upslope and tommyknocker which really are regional now. The. food was okay, but not anything to be excited about. It's bar food. The worst is the service, they spend their time flirting with everyone rather then taking care of their patrons. The atmosphere is pretty lame and the crowd is 45 and over. It has the potential to be a great little spot IF they improve their food quality, add additional beer choices and greatly improve their service. The atmosphere is really drab.. I get that it's doghouse tavern, but the theme is only noticed by the 1000 small photo frames of black and white pictures of dogs. This place is one of those alcoholic hangouts. If you just want a drink with no frills this is the spot. If you want a "experience" choose one of the 100 other brewpubs that offer something unique. This place is nothing unique. Sorry, no more of my $$ will be going to this establishment. Do something to impress me in the realm of either food, drinks, atmosphere or service none of which impressed me here. read more

Once the Bear Valley Inn known for the best burrito in Denver, the space has known become the Doghouse Tavern. The Doghouse has continued the tradition of serving great food at decent prices. They always have great drink specials. The only thing the Doghouse lacks is live music; however their jukebox has all the hits. read more

Just moved to Harvey Park neighborhood. Doghouse Tavern shows up on lists of bars nearby. Very happy with beer on tap selection: Titan IPA for $3 during happy hour. I had the burger with provolone, mushrooms and jalapenos. It was DELICIOUS! Wife had the Turkey Avocado Melt, again DELICIOUS! They have a jukebox, a pool table, and few arcade games. Have outside seating, but it was also the smoking section. Well lit on the inside. Great atmosphere. Will be back for sure! read more

We stopped in after doing the thrift shops in the area, (which I found rather unimpressive relative to driving time). Yelp said that this place had killer burgers. This is true. I got the Texas Burger. My son got the sliders. Both were phenomenal. Skip the Mac n chz. It's just kraft, and it's not worth an extra 1.50 to sub for fries, which they say are hand cut. I'm a bit suspicious of the hand cut fries claim, but they were pretty darn good, so I don't think I care. Just go with fries. They're good. And, they're included. The burgers were cooked medium. The buns were fresh and toasted. And, KU whopped up on TX while we ate. Good deal all around. Servers were very personable, worked as a team to get food and tickets out, and made us feel welcome in what seems like one of those locals only joints. Also, that BBQ sauce had something special going on. Green chile for sure but that wasn't all. I'll be back to investigate next time I'm in the area. read more
