August 10, 2025 - Port Townsend We arrived an hour too early to the Ferry Terminal for our reservation, so we drove downtown to find a place to park the RV for an hour and grab a quick bite. When we finally found a place to park, we had to walk back to the main part of town. The first place we spotted was Dogs-a-Foot, so we stopped. They had outdoor patio seating, which worked for us since we had our pup. I ordered the "Build Your Own", Ball Park ($3.75), with mayo, mustard and relish. Very quick, very good hotdog. I'm not much of a hot dog fan, but I enjoyed this one. read more

This seasonal hot dog stand is one of the (many) things to look forward to in Port Townsend when spring rolls around. You can't go wrong with their corn dogs, the Not-so-Plain Jane, or any of their other options - or customize a dog yourself! The staff are friendly, professional, and prompt; the people-watching is great during tourist season; and, if you visit on a sunny day, there are picnic tables on site with a view out across Pope Marine Park. I was in Post Townsend and felt like having a dog. After a Yelp search I found this place. I ordered a Chicago dog and sat at the outdoor tables awaiting my meal as I was hungry as a bear coming out of hibernation. Well my dog arrived and I looked it over. It looked very tasty but I was wondering were the rest of it was. It was rather small I thought. At that moment I was disappointed but, it wouldn't last long. I went ahead and took a bite. Oh my! The texture, taste, and flavors of this modest sized dog were incredible! Quality over quantity. This place made an incredible dog using good ingredients. Well done. Turns out that dog provided the hunger satisfaction and I probably saved a few calories along the way. If you want quality and taste... this is your place. If you want quantity absent the taste or quality.... Head to that big box store headquartered in Kirkland and spend your buck fifty. As of now.... No more $1.50 junk in this pie hole. First time in Port Townsend. Had my dog along and needed a dog friendly spot to eat. Nice little outdoor eating area with picnic tables and a lot of hot dog and sausage options, including a foot long. I'm a hot dog fan and this place was excellent! This might be my favorite place in town to grab a quick bite. Open for 3 seasons (closed through winter), Dogs-a-Foot serves up delicious hot dogs, brats, and vegan dogs with many options for customization or pre-customized dogs. Friendly staff, right across the water, and affordable. Highlight of the food experience are the buns. Exact ambiance you want for a spring day especially sitting outside. Oh my how this place has gone seriously downhill since new ownership/management. Truly sad to see. Dogs-a-Foot was once the greatest hotdog stand in all the Pacific Northwest but alas, no more. Not even close to what it used to be. I took my birthday off work and drove the hour from Port Orchard to Port Townsend just to have a Dogs-a-Foot birthday hotdog like I've done in years past. What a complete let down. Just cheap, skinny, low-grade dogs and grocery store buns - no longer cooked to perfection like the first decades of D-a-F existence - the actual hot dog seems a MUCH lower grade, much smaller, and same with the bun - just plain old "grocery store white bread" buns. I ordered the "Foot Loose" with bacon and cheddar cheese, with the dog "burned" like the old owner used to specialize in it seemed! The bacon was flavorless, hard and chewy, and clearly just microwaved. I had to take it off and trash it. The cheese was completely flavorless, as was the hot dog itself - all served on what amounts to a grocery store plain white bun. I only ate half the thing. With the old owner, these hotdogs were a TREAT worth driving an hour to get. Not so much now and that's really sad. $6-$8 for a mediocre hotdog is not worth it. Just "OK" - not the amazing experience of many years past until the change. I hope they can pull it back together to what Dogs-a-Foot was for decades - but for now, it's just a mediocre experience. Meh - I've experienced better. 2 stars for this update with the new owners. I wish them well but won't be back any time soon. read more

Their vegan hotdog is the Beyond Meat brand. It is way better than the vegidogs they used to have and more like the size of a sausage! The gluten-free bun looks like it came from a bakery - big, delicious and sturdy enough to hold all the fillings. I had mine with sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard. Yum! It's a meal! read more

This seasonal Hotdog shack is located toward the end of the main strip in lower Port Townsend. The dogs are served up with generous toppings and the coleslaw is really good. There are many choices of hotdogs, sausages, and veggie dogs. There's even a "Bowzer" hotdog for your pooch! Seating is outside at picnic benches with large umbrellas. read more

The spicy Kraut was not spicy and the kraut tasted very old. The Chicago Dog doesnt come close. Bun was correct but stale. Ball park sausage instead of Vienna. No peppers, and the addition of cucumbers are a mystery. The quality has suffered with the ownership change read more

Another reason why I adore Port Townsend. We don't have anything like this here. Well, we would call it a Roach Coach but it's way better than that. Maybe it's the location?? Or the clientele? All I know is that it's great. Dogs-a-Foot is obviously family friendly because whenever I walked by, there were kids and parents everywhere in addition to just your average adults w/o offspring (like me!) and teenagers. We ordered our dogs and found a picnic table. The view is great. You can people watch as they go in and out of shops or look across the street and get a glimpse of the water. Makes the waiting time go by pretty fast. The dogs are scrumptious. Perhaps the fresh air makes them taste even better. And when things slowed down a bit, the owner left his kitchen and walked around the tables and asked how we liked our hotdogs. He even apologized to us for the wait! We saw that he got slammed with the lunch crown and told him that we didn't think we waited long at all. What a great mom-and-pop shop! read more

Disappointed that we drove 80 miles to try their hotdogs only to find out that they decided not to open on Wednesday June 30th. A call to their number goes directly to voice mail. Sad way to run a consumer oriented business. I do not recommend this establishment. read more

I have been going to Dogs-a-Foot at least twice per year for over 20 years. The stand has changed owners three times since I started enjoying their dogs. This is one of my favorite establishments in Port Townsend! Every time I am in town, I have to stop in for a hot dog or two. There are a few reasons I go - the HD is simple with a beautifully toasted bun, sweet onions and a expertly grilled beef wiener. The place is cheap, fast and easy. Although the original owner cooked the better meal the latest owners are close and produce a significantly better HD than the last owners (confused?). The latest owner seems to run a cleaner operation and has put some money into some much needed maintenance and upgrades. Dogs-a-Foot are a true PT experience with outside seating only however there is rain or sun shelter available. read more

After a 5 mile hike at North Beach we spotted this place in town. I had the Mambo Jumbo and JC had their Chicago Dog. Both were excellent for the money. If you love dogs like we do you won't go wrong stopping by. The staff is friendly, helpful with great smiles. read more

Great selection of freshly prepared hot dogs and sausages. I highly recommend this place for a casual meal to eat at their picnic tables or carry across the street to the city park. As a past employee of 6 years, I could not have imagined a more upbeat and friendlier place to work! The owners are some of the most kind hearted and genuine people I have met. The hospitality and personal interaction that these two provide to the customers is special about Dogs A Foot. The food is definitely something to brag about too! Amazing little food trailer in a gravel lot in downtown Port Towsend. I'm not someone who goes crazy for hot dogs, but these little doggies and brats had me going wee wee wee all the way home. While passing through, the wife and I stopped here for a quick bite. The service is fast and we discovered that you can customize your dog's with a plethora of condiments. I tried the spicy kraut (pretty hot) and Turkey dog with kraut. Very tasty and cheaper than a lot of lunches in town. If you are in a rush, want to spend low dollars, and want something meaty and tasty, then try this place out. I know I will be back next time I'm around here, which should be soon. read more

Great dogs, friendly staff, fair prices, prompt service. On a sunny day, it's the best lunch option in Port Townsend. I thought that the business was a goner when a vacant lot showed up in the space during the winter months. But, the doggy diner came back to serve up a terrific selection of tube steaks.
