As one normally does, a craving for something cold, creamy and sweet hit in between trips to the beach, so naturally we wandered into Dolce Banana for just that reason! We had our eyes on the froyo, but were a little disappointed in the lack of precautions they had for the toppings. I could deal with the self serve part of the actual froyo, but the toppings were out in the open, only protected by a small plastic shield that sat about 20" above the counter. It was less than appetizing given the current state of things. Additionally, they only had about 6 of the flavors for yogurt operational, but when the Cookie Dough was tried, it was melted and not ready to go. The ones of us who were not after froyo, gravitated towards the candy wall which featured off brand jelly beans and a few selections of gummies. The candy wasn't bad, but definitely wasn't the best either. Service was less than stellar, as the attendance was in the back majority of our visit and only came out once the store got packed. At this point, it was too late for her to gain any type of control on a line for check out vs a line for ice cream. Our froyo legit began melting we waited so long to check out. I mean, it wasn't the worst thing in the world, but definitely wasn't the stroll down Center Street eating our dessert that we envisioned. The ice cream was good. We got vanilla, rocky road, and cookies and cream. We liked all the flavors we got. The 3 stars is for the lack of precautions they're taking for Covid. They still have self-serve for the frozen yogurt. They don't have hand sanitizer at all. Also, the chocolate frozen yogurt came out as liquid. Random froyo place we stopped by on our beach visit. It was good after a long day out in the sun. It was kind of dirty, but the cookie dough and cake batter froyo was good. We came here last night looking for something sweet after dinner. Only ten people are allowed in at any given time, but there was no wait. Masks are required as well. Inside you'll find a counter for hand dipped ice cream, self serve froyo, and self serve toppings. Considering we're in a post-Covid era I was kind of surprised to find everything was still self serve. It's not being sanitized regularly either. I opted to get the froyo and toppings instead of my kids so only one of us had contaminated hands. We also ordered a smoothie and a milkshake. Around this time a group walked in and with only one employee, it got busy for her quickly. I didn't mind the wait, but I felt bad for her. This review is for the ice cream shop. We did not get coffee or food at the cafe. The ice cream shop has good ice cream. That is why this review has 2 stars. But getting the ice cream is a very confusing experience. This shop needs to decide what it is selling. There is fro-yo at the back of the shop with toppings up front. Ice cream is scooped at the counter. There is a wall of candy and a cotton candy machine near the door. You line up to order ice cream across the entrance. So you have to push through the line to enter the shop. You select the ice cream flavor you want. One scoop is $7, but you can add a scoop for $1. So if you are a couple, you can get 2 scoops in one cup for $8 or you pay $14 for 2 scoops in 2 cups. Either way, you cannot get any toppings on the ice cream no matter what you are willing to pay; even though the toppings are right next to the server. Those are for fro-yo only. They could easily say add $1 for one tablespoon of any topping. If you want to serve yourself fro-yo, then you push through everyone to get the machines. There are people who are waiting for their milkshakes and scoops in front of the toppings. When you get in line to pay, you have to wait for folks to order their scoops and your fro-yo melts while you wait to pay. There are no signs about where to line up, where to wait, or what to expect when you step up to the counter. It would be much better if they told you the flavors on a menu above the counter or if they posted the rules about fro-yo, toppings, and ice cream, so you know what to expect. The establishment needs a traffic flow or some kind of organization. Lastly, they need another register. This place could double their business on a busy summer night with a second register and one more staff. Otherwise, the chaotic experience might keep people from coming back. The ice cream was yummy. Great little spot right by the beach! It's perfect for a sweet treat after spending the day on the beach. No indoor seating but there's some outdoor options available. Masks are required as well. Me and my friend had the mango fro yo and açaí fro yo mixed...it was delicious!! They had plenty of topping choices and sauces. I had the strawberry sauce and it was also amazing. This place is absolute trash, their boba tea is tea with pumps of syrup in it & their smoothies are made from concentrate -- there's not even a piece of fruit in it?!! Look at the irony in my picture of their ad and their concentrate behind it. Astonishing. Fro yo there is nothing special & a bit watery. Their AC is sub par at best along with zero indoor seating. Their employees couldn't seem less interested in existing let alone doing their job. We will be trying the pineapple hut next hoping that it's better. read more

Great ice cream spot near the beach. You can get ice cream or frozen yogurt. It can get pretty busy during the heat of the day. I thought the frozen yogurt was good and found the toppings to be pretty fresh. The servings are huge. My husband and I split an ice cream and that was more than enough for the both of us. read more

Awful experience here. We walked in and there were no other customers there; one staff member came in and out from the back, didn't acknowledge us/say anything to us, but continued cleaning up front. She would go back and forth between the front and back, ignoring us and continuing to clean the front. We waited patiently, but after several minutes of being ignored; we had enough and left. Luckily, we left, because we found good and way cheaper ice cream right on the pier. You are better off walking to the pier and grabbing much better priced ice cream with a great view. Sometimes I like to get something from here before hitting the beach and there are some visits that come after a long day at the beach which is also a good time to stop in. They have a wide selection of menu items that I like, but my favorites are the ice cream and smoothies. It's regular southern style sweet tea.... with pumps of syrup, and Boba. So, they did have actual popping Boba but it is not what anyone who's had it before would expect. It was awful - like drinking simple syrup. I went to the coffee shop that is connected to ask the other people if this is what it was supposed to look like, just in case the employee was mistaken and they confirmed it was made correctly. Just opened in the past couple of months or so, this is a good place to stop by for frozen yogurt (especially this time of year). Like all yogurt places around, there's a great selection of yogurt flavors and toppings to choose from. I definitely enjoyed mine (Birthday Cake Yogurt, Wild Berry Yogurt, a few sliced strawberries, & some sprinkled Heathbar pieces). It's all self-serve and the price is based on weight. Place was dirty and they listed one of the flavors as chocolate, although it was chocolate banana, didn't figure that out until after we purchased. I sat my fro-yo on the scale to be weighed, it was about $4.00 until the girl stuck two spoons in it which raised the weight, as well as the cost. Final cost was around $4.70. What as skeezy was to make some extra change. I imagine that wasn't the first time she'd done that. Also, employees acted like they couldn't care less about working, I wouldn't recommend this place. I got the chocolate mint yogurt and added some toppings to it. The yogurt was fine but what really tick me off was the lady that was up front. There were 6 of us in there. As we all were getting our yogurt or ice cream she was starting to put away all of the toppings. I mean, how rude do you have to be to take all the toppings away as customers are still using them? She had a blast face and you could clearly see she was pissed and was ready to close for the day. Awful service and her attitude couldn't have been worse really. Will definitely not return here whenever I am in Folly Beach again. As stated, the yogurt was just ok, the ice cream according to my wife was bad and was melting as soon as she got the cone from the girl serving it.
