I thought this place was really good. Their gelato is a bit on the pricy side but it's worth it. I got their vanilla latte and cookie + tramontana gelato. Their mask policies are a bit odd though, sitting down masks can be off, but even standing next to the table you are sitting down at, masks have to be on. Considering it's such a small store, maybe keep masks all the way on? or masks all the way off? not sure there is a difference in standing or sitting. read more

I absolutely love this place! Friendly staff and fantastic coffee. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and having newly arrived from California where coffee is truly an artistry, I have not been impressed with DC cafes. Furthermore, many cafes using dairy substitutes cannot get the right consistency. Dolcezza has got it right! I haven't had a beverage here yet that has disappointed me. It's dangerous to live so close to this shop. Their flavor options offer a great variety & are delicious! I usual like mixing a chocolate and fruit flavor so I got the lemon sorbet & dark chocolate gelato. They went together so well and offered a rich sweet chocolate contrast to the light tart of the lemon. The staff were very helpful too describe flavors since we can't sample right now. I always get the dulce de leche churros- OMG they are so good. Crunchy on the outside soft and chewy on the inside. Even better warmed. I tried the salted caramel gelato. It ws so smooth, thick, and rich with a nice salted caramel flavor. I paired it with pistachio. Which had an intense pistachio flavor. I appreciate them weighing your product. Because it's February, it's a bit too cold to have Gelato or Sorbet for my taste, so I simply got a warm cup of latte while exploring the Dupont Circle area recently. The Gelato and Sorbet menus looked very unique with flavors like Honey Avocado really made me curious and second-guess my decision to skip those frozen treats. The latte (fairly priced at around $3.45) that I ordered was not overly watered down with milk as some lattes are from other shops, and the fragrance of the coffee they used to make the latte was noticeable but not overwhelming. The interesting part was that the latte was not as foamy as the ones that I am used to seeing, but nonetheless, the coffee taste standing out was enjoyable and tasted really fresh. Overall, the shop had a casual and fairly comfortable atmosphere, but it was a real shame that there was only one large table with a seating capacity of around 8 or 9 towards the front of the store and 4 window bar seats behind one end of this table, which at first left my friend and I standing around towards the back of the store (with plenty of space to fit another small table or two to seat 2 to 4 people more), waiting for seats to open up. The modern music was also upbeat, which kept the mood rather up in the store. The cashier was very friendly and warmly explained different menu items we inquired about as well. Overall, it would have been nice to have more seats available in the coffee shop, despite it's small size, it was definitely spacious enough to fit in some more. Also, after finally snagging two seats at the end of the large table that seated most of the customers who choose to stay to enjoy their drinks, I wished that the shop offered for more privacy for conversations by having more separate tables rather than one large one. For sure, I want to try their Gelato or Sorbet that I see people raving about on reviews once the weather warms up as well as the Gibraltar iced coffee drink that sounds amazing (I really love Horchata)! read more

Absolutely loved this place and it stays open late! Service was great, super friendly and the place was super clean. I got the golden milk flavor (like a turmeric latte) and it was delicious. Not too heavy, and not incredibly sweet. Some places give you way too much too but not here. I want to go back and do some work while sipping on a coffee next time. One of best friends and I was lost in DC and we found this little gem behind a Starbucks. I was so glad that we did. The environment felt cozy and calm. It's a perfect place to get homework done or just to read. The Cafe Latte felt smooth, tasted bold, and not scalding hot. The gelato tasted fantastic! I ordered the vanilla bean and Vietnamese cinnamon gelatos, and both was outstanding. If I'm ever back in DC, then I'll have to find my way back to this cafe. AMAZING gelato! I came here after lunch with my friends and felt instantly at home when I entered the store. I felt as if I had walked into a little cottage. The front part of the store has a large table with about 12 or 15 chairs around and was filled with people -- some chatting, some reading, some studying. There is also a countertop along the front window. The cashier & coffee/pastries were next to the large table and this section of the store had exposed brick walls and was so quaint and cozy. The back was more modern -- where the gelato goods were! :) There was a dozen of gelato flavors and quite a few sorbets as well. The flavor choices were SO unique: clementine, cranberry apple cider, marscapone, sea salt, black sesame, pineapple honey lemon ... mmm! We were able to sample as many as we wanted -- the woman behind the counter was so patient and friendly. I ended up with a small dulce de leche. YUM. It was rich, creamy, and just perfect. My friends and I were able to grab a few seats around the table and enjoyed our ice cream together while chatting in the intimate setting. read more

Had the best coffee ive ever had in DC here (el salvador). Cakes and sorbet has so far been fantastic over multiple visits. Lovely decor and atmosphere with the big central wooden table. Not a lot of seats and a bit of wasted space too. Best mid-week I guess. Staff are pleasant although the ordering system is a little disjointed - resulting in one of our espressos being luke warm by the time we sat down to drink it. But easy to look past this when all things considered. Overall a real gem. read more

We tried Salted Caramel / Peanut Butter Stracciatella and Georgia Butter Pecan / Stracciatella. The Salted Caramel was tasty, but very strong - a bit too salty for my tastes (and I like salty). The Peanut Butter Stracciatella was everyone's favorite. There were some pints and push pops available for sale in a little freezer off to the side. The staff was nice and there are a handful of seats inside and a bench outside the front window. Overflow sat on a bus stop bench or just stood out on the sidewalk. read more

It was looking at yelp reviews trying to find a cute coffee shop to chill at before meeting up with my brother for dinner. I saw this place had some great reviews so decided to step in and immediately it was a very inviting cozy atmosphere! I just wanted a cup of chai latte but the gelato looked too inviting so I said what the hell to this cold weather and decided to get some gelato. After trying some samples I decided on the pineapple honey lime sorbetto and the Thai coconut milk gelato. OMG it was THE PERFECT combo. My mouth is salivating just thinking about it. Man now I'm craving it! I absolutely love this place. The most amazing gelato and pastries, not to mention amazing chai and espresso that rivals some of the big name french cafes in NYC. Only 4 stars because every time I have ordered a quiche it has been forgotten (4 times) and then waiting for it has made me late for work. Additionally I've had my chai forgotten twice. I frequent the place and truly love it's quality, maybe a better form of communication between who receives the order and who makes the drinks would be nice. Word of mouth tends to lead to come confusion during busy hours. (PS: I just waited 15 minutes for a quiche and when I asked she told me she had forgotten and just put it in which means I have another 7 minutes to wait. If it comes out early it's always cold. Amazing customer service!! The barista was so patient as I asked her about the different drinks and she provided recommendations. I had the Vanilla Bean! SO GOOD! Im very picky about coffee and this was so delicious. Not too sweet and just enough flavor. I would highly recommend it. In a city with many many food and dessert options we actually came here twice during our two day stay. On the first day my husband and I sampled a wide array of sorbetto and gelato flavors settling on dark chocolate and banana foster, and grapefruit Campari, strawberry thyme, and blueberry lemon. Although the cups seem small, the portions were generous. I just wish my cone as made a little neater, the banana foster was melting, the chocolate was sliding off the top, and instead of fixing the scoop, I was handed the cone sideways and told not to drop it. The second day, we came back and my brother tried the clementine and blueberry lemon which he loved. the mascarpone and berries was also delicious. A little pricey, but worth it for the scenic walk near the water pads and good quality. read more

I'm a sucker for Dolcezza having visited the Mosaic location more times than I can count. While in town for a conference, I was footsteps from this location and it was my saving grace. Service was pleasant on each visit and the product is always reliable. They have really excellent coffee!!! I tried the almond milk latte and iced coffee on two occasions and each time they were worth every cent. A few steps above Starbucks. Food is also really good. I can't say enough good things. Their gelato is AMAZING. Easily the best I've had in DC. I knew I would have to come back for their coffee someday. Months later I finally made it back and was extremely pleased. I've been looking for some good coffee in my neck of the woods for some time. Service was fantastic, they explained their menu and made recommendations. They were very quick with the coffee and when I let them know there weren't lids the cashier immediately went and restocked them and handed a couple to us as well. I got a dulce de leche latte, and it was exactly as she described to us - not too sweet but no need to add any sugar; the amount of syrup is just enough to add flavoring. It was about $4.50 for a 10 oz cup of coffee with 2 shots of espresso, so it's definitely a treat and not an everyday place, but I will definitely be back when I'm craving a delicious cup of coffee. There's probably less than about 20 seats total, so get here early if you want a good one or are coming with a couple people! read more

Open late so the perfect close out to the night with tout being weighed down by sugary desserts! Gelato was creamy and had awesome flavors. We tried the Georgia butter pecan and white peach prosecco. I need my coffee how I like my men....strong, semi-sweet and a lot of personality. So if I had to describe this place I would say it fits the bill. The service is super friendly, and the coffee is great. There are way too many cafes/coffee shops that have a lot going on but the coffee falls short. This is not this place. Grab your coffee and enjoy inside, the window seating is great for people watching but it was a beautiful day so we kept it moving. They happen to have gelato and saw a few folks at 10am already enjoying, no judgement, I just was in need of a jolt. Great location, great coffee and service. Every time I go to DC, I have to get my lemon cardamom ricotta and mascarpone with berries gelato! I'm addicted to their gelato. They also have wonderful coffee! There aren't many places to sit at this Dolcezza, but my friend and I just sat at the Starbucks nearby. read more

3.5. This place has a few stand out flavors, but what always gets me is the price. I think my go to flavors are strawberry tequila sorbet for something fresh and the lavender gelato. A few of the other gelatos were a bit too sweet like the Thai Iced Tea and the Marscapone Berry. I love ice cream so I'll probably be back at some point, but overall it's nothing over the top to make my way just to eat the gelato here. read more

Honestly best ice cream I've had in ages! Was passing by, and had to stop to satisfy some sugar cravings. Me and my husband both tried the berry mascarpone paired with lemon ricotta cardamom; the flavors shine through and don't taste artificial like some ice creams are, rather bursting with flavor till the last morsel. Stopped in very quickly to get coffee in the middle of a work day. The cafe is really cool on the inside. It's very rustic and divey in the best way. I got a Dulce De Leche iced latte and it was delicious. It didn't cost too much money and it was ready before I knew it. Their other drinks looked great as well! Everyone was very nice and friendly. Pretty pricey for the amount of gelato/sorbet they give you, but it was very good. I got a peach flavored sorbet. They give you two scoops in the small, which is nice.
