I'm fairly new to the area and wanted to find a salon to get a Brazilian, near me. This was one of the first places that popped up in google which appealed to me. I don't wax often, but I've been getting waxes for 5+ years now, so I know the drill. I walked in to a very cute and inviting salon. The receptionist had a sash and a crown for her birthday, which was adorable and just showed the warmth of the office. Sarah was my waxer and showed me to my room. She explained everything to me and told me to ring a bell when I was ready for her to come in after I freshened up and undressed. The have hygiene towelettes for you to use on yourself, I've never seen this before and actually prefer it to the waxer cleaning you up. When I tell you this girl was very thorough...she got closer than I have to that whole area. After tweezing, cooling, and cleaning up, she told me to let her know if I saw anything she might have missed, there was nothing! I was on a plane the next day and had no irritation or bruising which I have had in the past. 6 days later and the hair is slowing growing in. I will be going back and recommending her to anyone who asks. read more

I have been a customer at the Gambrills location and due to a scheduling conflict had to cancel my deluxe Brazilian appointment. While doing so on schedulicity.com I discovered that I can see the next available appointment at any of the three locations (Annapolis, Crofton and Gambrills). I got in early Saturday morning and was in and out in a brief period w/o no complaints about the service rendered. Tammy the owner actually performed my services. She was thorough, timely and great to talk to. You have her to thank for the inviting decor, cool playlists and professionals working at the three locations. Plenty of parking out front and plenty of chocolate inside. You can make your appointments in person, by phone, as well as online. If you have a particular person you prefer for your services make your appointment before you leave to avoid having to wait longer than you want. Check Yelp and Groupon for the specials that are available for services. Request a loyalty punch card and after five visits receive $10 off your next service. Needed a new home for my waxing needs so when I heard a lot of great reviews for this place, I went ahead and booked an appointment. The experience wasn't that pleasant. Meg didn't pull the skin tight before ripping off the strip, had to keep re-waxing in the same area (which wasn't pleasant), and ALOT of tweezing after the fact. I've gotten many brazialian bikini waxes done prior to coming here and this was the worse experience of my life. The table that I had to lay on was covered in paper towels and of course us women sweat during waxes so when I was done and had to get up, the paper towels were sticking in all the wrong places. The sad thing is I told her about one previous experience I had with someone else who didn't grab the skin tight and she totally understood. I think once she started waxing, she totally forgot. Needless to say, I experienced bleeding and scabbing. Everything healed completely about a week and a half later. I will say that the atmosphere of the salon was awesome and she was nice. I do understand no one is perfect so I would give the salon another shot when I'm ready but with someone else. I mean they have good reviews otherwise so they must be doing something right. read more

I found doll wax on Yelp and my first time visit was in Gambrills with Tammy (the owner). She gave me my first Brazilian and it was the best service ever. She talked me through everything and was super friendly. Last year I realized there was a Crofton location, which is much closer to my home, so I made an appointment with Meg. I was a little nervous because I was so use to Tammy, but I just went for it. Turns out Meg is just as awesome as Tammy. Professional, friendly, and to top it off, hilarious!! It's a little awkward having a stranger down there but she makes you laugh the whole way through. On top of everything the facility is always clean and neat. Every person I've encountered have been welcoming and friendly. The affordability is a little higher than some places but I think it's worth it for the service and how sanitary they are. They also run a lot of promotions if you sign up for their mailing list and a loyalty card. I referred a couple of friends, who also love the place. One friend drives from silver spring just to come here, so it has to be amazing. If you like friendly, caring people who do good waxing, this is definitely the place. read more

I go to the Crofton location. I have been going for almost a year and I have never been disappointed. The location is clean, and very well-appointed. My esthetician is Jess. Jess is amazing. She is very professional and knowledgeable. She thoroughly explains every service I receive and checks to ensure my comfort level throughout the process. She educated me on the different types of wax used, and longterm maintenance. A Brazilian can be awkward and uncomfortable, but it's not here. Jess and I talk the whole time and it's over before I know it. Great customer service, clean and appealing environment, and fair pricing. I am a doll 4 life! Lol. read more

After having a not so great experience in the past at the Gambrills location, I decided to try the Crofton location and I am glad I did. I love it! At the end of the day your health and safety is #1 and this is the only place in the area that I am positive DOES NOT double dip. A lot of places, if not most (even Just Browzing in Crofton which appears to be competing but I don't know), do double dip. This is against MD regulation AND is GROSS! Skin to skin infections can and do occur when places double dip. Doll Wax Salon cares about customer safety and health. The staff at the Crofton location has always been very nice and professional. And there is NO double dipping. It is well worth the price knowing that you are SAFE. I won't go ANYWHERE else! My humble and sincere apologies for the negative reviews before. Nicely appointed facility, friendly and professional staff. I usually use Jess at Crofton, who is outstanding, but have also been pleased with every other service provider who has helped me when Jess was unavailable. This is a good place to try if you feel shy or intimidated by the waxing process, as it's a small and friendly place, and they're good about communicating with you and ensuring your comfort. I've only had one problem in the YEARS since I've been a customer-a billing mistake that I didn't recognize until days later. I emailed the salon and the owner personally responded and remedied the situation right away. Wonderful customer service. Lastly, this place has EXCELLENT sanitation protocols! This was especially important to me in light of the COVID 19 crisis. They are very clear about the steps they take to maintain a clean and safe environment for guests. I really like this place! It's clean, the rooms are cute, and the staff is always friendly. They have a pretty convenient scheduling system online too. My eyebrows always look fantastic! They're usually running specials that they post about on Facebook so I would definitely recommend looking at their page for those but even without the specials their prices are very reasonable, especially given the great job they do. They do make a big deal out of being on time for your appointment BUT they've been on time every time I've come in so it makes sense, they run a tight ship and it's really just courteous to all of the other customers. The boutique is spotlessly clean and a calm environment. My second time I got the French Bikini and loved that too! I can't tell you how disappointed I am after my visit today. I was scheduled for an eyebrow a wax with Jess in Crofton. This was my second visit. I had to bring my daughter (15mo) with me so I put her in the stroller to keep her contained during my very quick appointment. However, when I went in (after struggling to get through the door in front of the receptionist who offered no help), I was told I couldn't have my daughter with me unless she was in a baby carrier. I was not allowed to bring the stroller in the room for a 10 min brow appointment! They told me I could reschedule- as if I would! I will not be going back. If you have kids you know the struggle of juggling appointments and children. I understand not wanting kids running amuck while people are receiving services which is why I put mine in her stroller. If you have children, be aware of this ridiculous policy. read more

I was really excited to try this place and could not have been more disappointed. The Brazilian wax with Meg was good with great attention to detail (they are one of the few places that tweeze at the end) They don't pull the skin tight while pulling the strip, so be prepared for that: but it was overall really high quality and relatively painless. Then I had a leg wax scheduled after and waited 15 minutes with two estheticians sitting there doing nothing. When I asked how long it would be, the manager explained she had a 2PM client but my service would start at 1:40 with another esthetician. When the manager's client showed up at 2:00, she didn't check with her employee or even acknowledge that I was still waiting. By 2:08, no one had shown up, and I couldn't even cash out from my Brazilian so I could leave. I literally just sat there alone for more than 30 minutes past my appointment time. The scheduled esthetician never even popped out to say, "I'm running behind." That is unacceptable. Finally at 2:10PM, I just called out, "can someone please at least cash me out?" The manager offered a 20% discount on my leg wax if I wanted to come back tomorrow. But I have 2 small children and work full time, so that won't happen. If she'd offered to do it later today, or right after her client, I might have tried. read more

I've been going to Doll Wax for almost two years. When the pandemic first came on, all appointments had to be cancelled, but regular customers were told they would get the F/U price when the salon opened back up. I showed up for my first appointment as soon as they were allowed to reopen, only to be charged for a regular appointment, not a F/U. When I asked, I was told "oh, that special ended last week". I was hugely disappointed and haven't been back since. I felt I was being penalized for the pandemic and the closing of the small local business that I've been supporting for almost two years. Had an awful experience today. I had an appointment at 6:45 pm - at 6:50 I receive a call from Meg stating she would have to reschedule my appointment. Fair enough - but I'm pretty sure I'm in the shopping center where your store is. I just spent over an hour fighting through traffic to get here. Instead of Meg taking a minute to help get me there (since it was my first appointment at this location) she instead keeps reiterating that she needs to reschedule. No need Meg - I will NEVER return to your location. Plenty of other better salons out there who understand that customer service really means. read more

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the receptionist, my esthetician, and the manager. Everyone was so nice and so friendly. Jess helped me with the paperwork (literally like 5 questions) and took me back to the room. Gave me some privacy while I disrobed, and gave me this awesome little bell to ring when I was ready for her to come back in. She talked me through the entire process and almost (almost) made me forget that I was having hair aggressively ripped out of my lady parts. I love Tammy and her staff and all of the love and effort they put into making the waxing experience as pleasant as possible. The 1st was Meg she did my eyebrows, she's pretty amazing...straight down to business and she did a great job..very meticulous. Michelle has taken care of me both times. Friendly, keeps you talking so there's a little less pain because your focus is on the conversation instead of the hot wax. I picked this shop from the reviews posted on their Gambrills location. The office is not easily found due to being off the road, behind another couple is shops. Once inside, the atmosphere is welcoming, beverages and snacks available. The first visit there's a form to fill out and was advised to be ten minutes early but only took a few to complete. Michelle took me to the room, asked if this was my first waxing ever. Told her no, just the first in Maryland since moving here. She proceeded to cover the process, answer all my questions, ask again if I needed to use the bathroom before. Instructed me to uncover the area, sit on the table and ring the bell once ready-of course, if the area being waxed is usually covered my a bathing suit your provided a towel to cover up with. Once ready, you ring a bell. I felt a little discouraged by this at first but at my hesitation, she explained it's less awkward than knocking too soon or the customer "yelling" ready. I have been to both the Gambrills and Crofton locations, and can not say a bad word about either! Wonderful service, staff, and decor. Very knowledgeable, yet they make it fun! They also always have great deals going on. I've only had the Brazilian wax at both locations, but will now be going back for more services. I first went to owner, Tammy, which was great. She assured me, if she was ever booked, any of the girls would take amazing care of me, and she was right! I loved this place so much I couldn't wait to write a review! Normally for basic services (brow wax) I hate making appointments.. I just go when it appears I need to go.. Or in this case when someone told me my brows looked bushy! I went to their Gambrills location first before I realized they were appointment preferred.. Since they didn't have any appointments they directed me to the Crofton location (only about 15 mins away) and they were able to take me that day.. I walked in and was greeted by Kerri who was the person I was getting my services done by. She was super sweet and informative letting me know step by step what she was doing as she waxed my brows.. If they are that great with brows I can only imagine the service you get when your getting other things waxed there! I also appreciate her precision in making sure she got all the annoying stray hairs around my brows! I will surely be back to this location for all of my future waxing needs! read more

I found the location via Groupon and was more than skeptical about a reduced priced Bikini wax, but I'm going on vacay to the beach and needed a wax. I went online and was easily able to book something within 48 hours! When I arrived the receptionist was friendly and personable. I met Jess and she asked all the right questions. The convenience of scheduling an appointment online is an added bonus, immediate confirmation upon scheduling. Upon arrival, greeted by specialist that will be performing your services. The room is set-up like a massage parlor and everything is clean. I have been receiving Brazilian waxes for a couple of years and trust me the pain never gets better. I had been there one time previously and enjoyed my experience as much as one can for a Brazilian. I scheduled another appt for today for 1140am. I called a few minutes before 1140 and said I was on rte 3 but was stuck in traffic bc of an accident. She informed me that any later than 5 minutes for my appt, they would need to reschedule. I actually made it to my appt at 1145! I walked in and there was no one up front. A guy comes in from the back a minute later and sits down to look at the computer and says that I'll need to reschedule because it's 11:46. I said well, when I got here it was 1145. He said that his computer says its 1146. After we went back and forth about the clock, he asked if I wanted to reschedule. I declined. Too much pressure. It was a ridiculous conversation that I'll never have to have again. I've certainly learned my lesson. Nice work, Doll Wax. PS- I get that I was a whole five minutes late (not 6) but I'm sure I could have shaved off a few minutes by changing quickly both before and after. I certainly don't want anyone to feel rushed (especially the guy at the desk) but I did my best given an unavoidable car accident and was still turned away. read more
