We like to rent from Dollar because they're usually easy to work with, reasonably priced and have a quick checkout process inside and out. This location is a little more "old skool" in their processes and really goes over existing damage and wants you to do a full inspection. We had a miscommunication about what was and wasn't important so we had to walk all the way back in to clarify that. Had this been a location in a bigger city like San Jose they likely would have workers inside and out (in the lot) but not here. Once inside they cleared up our concerns and we were on our way to enjoy our vacation. These are franchises and each chooses to do business however they see fit so we get it. It would be nice though if they would have associates inside and out so we don't have to walk more at the end of a long day of air travel and connecting flights. AWFUL! Never use them unless you want hidden fees and horrible customer service! I rented a car from them for $120 on travelocity. My husband went to pick it up and was charged an extra $120 for "daily fees." This was not included in the invoice. I know most companies do a $150 hold for damages and other things then return it at the end of the trip. NOPE not this place. They charge you twice as much as you thought. Then when you call their office, they place you on a 15min hold. I hung up and called back. They hung up on me. Called a 3rd time and was hung up on AGAIN! 4th time I called back, a lady asked to place me on hold, I told her "no way not if it's going to be 15min again." I asked to speak with a manger. She said one second and the same man that placed me on the 15min hold got back on. He said they were busy and would take my name and number to call me back. If I could give Dollar Car Rental Management @ Spokane Airport a half star rating I would! A year ago I had to make an Emergency flight due to my Dads health/Emergency heart surgery and rented with Dollar. I work in the Maritime (Ships Mechanic for the US NAVY) industry and due to the severity of the health emergency I ended up flying out w only my Sea Bag & the clothes on my back(after being out to Sea for a week and no sleep for 36+ hrs) and didn't even get to shower let alone change during my 24hrs of using my rental car. To say my Sea Bag and Coveralls stink of smoke, oil & grease is an understatement. When I came to return my rental the woman who checked my car in says/HOLLERS at me "YOU SMOKED IN THIS CAR!" I tried to explain my situation and showed her my Sea Bag and Coveralls to show her that's where the smell was coming from. Not only did she not give a sh*t she actually threw a piece of paper at me and said "Oh well! Fill this out if you have an issue, but good luck with that and getting any of your money back!" I contacted Dollar Car Rental Corporate Office with the issues I had encountered and again explained what had happened and they actually refunded of my $. Due to this kindness and understanding I promised I would remain a loyal customer as I have been for years. Fast forward to July 1st of this month and year. I kept my promise and did business with Dollar Car Rental and had a car booked for my visit. Upon arrival (2230 flight arrival) at Spokane Airport Dollar Car Rental Desk I was met with ATT-IT-TUDE just off the bat. I was totally gonna let that go because it was 2300 at night and she was the only one working and there was a WHOPPING 2 CUSTOMERS IN LINE INCLUDING MYSELF. That being said I just smiled and tried to be polite. Once we got through all the pleasantries (PUN INTENDED)we got to the total cost portion. I was told, and I quote, "Oh there seems to be a note from our Manager that you will have to leave an EXTRA deposit due to you smoking in our car last time you rented with us." I explained this ENTIRE THING to her and told her how it was a misunderstanding and her company had refunded my $ due to the mistake their check in lady made and the way I was treated. She just starred at me and said "Oh well! Do you want the car or would you like to try and find another one this evening?" I reminded myself that I had made a promise to stay loyal to this company and so I rented the car. I should have said F IT and went to another place, but it was 2300, I was exhausted from traveling across the entire country and just wanted to go and surprise my Family so I just bit the bullet and rented with Dollar. I was EXTREMELY PISSED & DISAPPOINTED however I wasn't going to let it derail me from seeing my Family for the 1st time in almost a year. To make matters worse I emailed Dollar Car Rentals Corporate Office to voice my dissatisfaction with the apparent PERSONAL ISSUE their local Spokane Branch has with me and asked for some sort of reply or explanation as to why I was charged extra for something they had refunded me on the previous year. ZERO...ZILCH...NADA...NOTHING IN THE WAY OF A REPLY IN ALMOST A MONTH!!! I can deal with rudeness and people at airports being short with customers. I've used this particular Dollar Car Rental three times since August 2019 and will probably be using them again next month. I will say they are still behind from other Dollar's at other airports. I am an express member but there's really no express when it comes to this one. We scheduled a rental car in Kansas City in May 2019 and they had a tv screen up front for Express Members that tells you where your car is located in the lot and you just go get into the car, drive up to the exit booth and they confirm who you are and that you're in the right rental car and your on your merry way. That is express. This one isn't. While it is very convenient not having to take a shuttle to and from the airport to get there I think they need to up their "express" for their dollar express members. The guys at the counter do try to sell you on upgrading to another car or getting other types of protection. I flew in at midnight on Valentine's Day so that I could take a test for a potential job and the guy at the counter tried to talk me up from a standard sized sedan (KIA Optima) to a vehicle with AWD because of snow, there was no snow while I was there, and when I said no I'll stick with KIA he said that the KIA was still under maintenance and gave me keys to a AWD sedan. So that hints that if they try to upgrade you and you decline, you may still get the upgrade with no additional cost. And to add to that same trip, when I returned the car, there was no staff out on the lot to check in the rental car like they have in the past so I followed the instructions on the lot booth window by dropping the car keys in the drop box inside the terminal. Well, when I got my email receipt confirmation the next day, they charged me an extra day and for a larger sized vehicle. I did have to call to get it fixed and it was no problem but the guy on the phone wasn't very friendly. The price for their cars are good but I'd much rather pay up front for my vehicle but most of the time I have to choose the Pay Later option online because they don't offer the Pay Now option, this way I know exactly what I'm going to be paying and can budget my money, ya know, since Dollar and Dave Ramsey are partners with each other they should always have the Pay Now option. read more

The desk staff are attentive to details, make sure I have the best rate, and offer alternative cars. Nyisha was a pleasure to work with. She helped me get in and out very promptly despite having to accommodate my last minute change in schedule and it was a great experience. Much appreciated! I own my own business, work out of Spokane, and I rent midsize trucks for client visits to central Washington as well as further onto the wet side of the state. I usually pick up the truck the evening before, pack it and tarp it before it gets too dark, and then return to the airport the next morning on our way out of town to sign up my employee as the second driver. I purchase the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) as strongly advised by my insurance agent because he cannot get me coverage for the loss of use specified in my Dollar rental agreement. If I left Dollar, it might be for a rental car agreement where I could rely on my business vehicle-for-hire insurance coverage. Either that or it would be to get the equivalent of Dollar's 4Business™ status where I can register my employees driver's license online or by email. Apparently from the resounding silence from Dollar in response to my online application, my incorporated business is too small, and my projected rental volume (I have rented vehicles at Dollar 4 times (14 rental days) in the last 6 weeks) is insufficient to qualify for that status, but truly, I am not actively looking to change rental car rental agencies. I like Dollar. It is just that would like them a lot better as a 4Business™ partner. There are no gas stations at the airport. When I am coming in from the West per my usual, I fill up along 1-90 at one of the two gas stations at Exit 176 (I-90) before covering the last 5 miles to the rental car drop off to the airport. If you are coming in from the East, you can fill up in Spokane. Exit 280A is your last chance for gas if you are westbound. read more

I would stay FAR away. They blamed me for damage that we didn't do and it ended up costing us over $1,000. They didn't show us to our car at night, they told us that if anything was wrong with it to just come back so they can give me another car. We had to drive to the nearest street light as their section was dimly lit; we didn't find anything wrong with the car so we drove away. Big mistake! When we returned to the airport just after 5 am to drop off the car there was no one there to receive us, so we had to drop off the keys. Dollar opens at 5 am just like everyone else at the Airport. About one month passes and I get a weird call from PurCo claiming to be an insurance company for Dollar (that's an egregious lie, as they are a collections company registered in Utah). She claims we damaged the front right bumper and wanted to charge us $2,300 to fix it. I told her to pound sand--I didn't know who she was or what PurCo had to do with my rental. I then get a bill for the same amount with no proof of damage and I call them asking for before and after pictures. They only provided pictures of the damage (which was a small scrape on the front bumper which was taken 5 hours after we dropped it off). She then told us that we also damaged a radiator support and that the labor would be several hours. Since we had no way of fighting it because no one was there to receive our car, we had to get our insurance company to cover some of the costs... They have a racket going on, and there seems to be extortion in the works here. If I were to steal money from my own customers, this is how I would do it: 1. RENT THE SLIGHTLY DAMAGED CARS AT NIGHT, 2. RUSH CUSTOMERS TO SIGN AND PAY, 3. THREATEN THEM WITH LAWSUITS AND DINGS ON THEIR CREDIT, 4. EXTRACT MONEY FOR REPAIRS BUT DON'T REPAIR VEHICLE., 5. RINSE AND REPEAT. GO TO ENTERPRISE NEXT TIME, I'VE NEVER BEEN RIPPED OFF BY THEM. PAY A LITTLE EXTRA BUT WITH PEACE OF MIND. read more

Too bad there isn't a way for 0 Stars!! I made the huge mistake of not looking for reviews BEFORE I booked from this location! In October of 2015, I rented from Dollar. Like so many others who wrote a review, I arrived very late to the airport only to find a near completely dark rental lot with no one to help locate the car or review it with me. After a few days in Spokane, I returned the car and once again there was no one there to walk around the car with me. About two weeks later I get a call from Purco telling me of damages and that I was responsible for them. I have repeatedly told them of the situation and how I saw no damage whatsoever but they don't seem to really care about this. I'm still fighting this claim as Im convinced this is a standard practice of Dollar at this location. (I did submit a formal complaint to dollar corp and have been extremely disappointed with their seeming lack of interest). When renting the vehicle they try to pressure you into adding insurance and prepaid gas to the point of arguing with you and when you fill the tank up with gas on the way back they top it off and charge your credit card for an additional charge. Don't use Dollar Rent a Car at the airport in Spokane. Use anyone else. Not only will they require you to sign up for insurance (even if it's not on your reservation), they'll charge you for pre-paid gas, even if you don't want it. It's not worth the risk, unless you don't care about your money or time. To add insult to injury, after I contacted them about my experience, they waited two months and then falsely claimed that I'd damaged their car. Arrived during a good time in December. No need for AWD or 4x4. The front desk attendant tried to convince me the vehicle I reserved was REAR WHEEL DRIVE (which we all know is not great to drive in the snow). When I said there was no need to upgrade to AWD because I was only doing in town driving and forecast said only rain for the week. He then tried to tell me about an upcoming snow storm. He again tried to up sell me into an AWD at an additional $20 a day (my rental was for 5 days). So this would've been costly. I said I'd take my chances in the Nissan Versa. Jerk. read more

My wife and I landed at the Spokane airport a little before midnight; tired and just wanting to get our vehicle and get out to make the 45 minute drive to our destination, we ran into Destiny and Nyisha. Both of these young women are absolutely hysterical! I was astounded by how jovial and light hearted they were. We probably spend 15 minutes talking, laughing, and just enjoying the company (I know, it's crazy!) They really gave us the little boost of energy we needed and we hope the company sees how hard these two gals work and how their customer service is beyond over-the-top. Spokane does have one of the nice touches with it's airport: the rental car places are on site. The rental cars are at the far end of the terminal complex and it is a bit of a walk from the security checkpoint to the desks. You've got a number of options here but I always choose Dollar. Well, actually, my company always does that in advance so I don't have a choice, but it's not a bad one. The desk people have been friendly and efficient. The cars are a little bit more toward the self-serve end: they give you the number of the stall where it's at and the keys. Although there's no valet service like some places, it does get you in and out of the terminal quickly. And who likes to hang around in the airport? For returning cars, there are a number of big signs that direct you to the lot. So for the business traveller, it's a pretty easy system. read more

Very easy to work with, great customer service, if you want a 4 wheel drive vehicle, you need to specify that on reservation. I believe the easiest way to do this is call directly so there is no confusion with booking sites. They had me in an SUV and inquired how many people I would be traveling with, they advised that I would probably be better suited in a different vehicle due to baggage limitations of the original vehicle. High pressure to take the extra insurance. Assured me that ANY door ding would result in large charges, like they would be hoping to find one. Car not where they said it would be in the lot. Had to go on a hunt with the auto unlock to find it, in a completely different row/space #. Made sure while driving the rental I parked in the hinterlands everywhere I went so no minute scratch would be found. When returning the car EVERY car rental agency had a sign up directing you down the appropriate aisle except guess who. The ONLY good part was the two employees at drop off were friendly & nice. I'm giving Dollar a 5 star rating specifically for ADAM - after dropping off my rental, I realized I'd lost my debit card when I reached the check in counter at the airport. Panicked, I raced back to Dollar to see if I'd left it in the car. ADAM told me they had already taken the car "back" ( I assume to prep for next customer) but he literally ran back to check for me. Unfortunately it was not there, but ADAM offered me a bottle of water, and reassured me as I was quite shaken up. Please know that the Branch Manager Lonnie Mellon at this location deliberately lied to us to get us to upgrade to a large SUV. He told us that the minivan we had reserved would not be allowed to enter Canada because it didn't have 4 wheel drive or snow tires. The upgrade was $128 more. The rest of our group rented from Enterprise and drove a Dodge Caravan and two Ford Focus vehicles across the border with no difficulty. Border patrol had no such regulations. It was a deliberate lie to rent a vehicle that was too large for me to drive and which also had very poor gas mileage. I've already notified Travelocity of this incident, as they were the site I had made the reservation at. Poor, poor PR!! I will never again rent a Dollar vehicle- also Lonnie Mellon gave me his business card and it says Thrifty. I will no longer rent from them either! read more

This has truly been a nightmare of an experience. I rented a vehicle earlier in the month (6/24-7/1) and that vehicle had a dead battery, when I called in to see what could be done, I was aggressively confronted and ridiculed by Arthur, my initial complaint. Loni, the manager contacted me after my initial email and offered me a 50% discount of the going rate if I would give the company another chance. He stated that he would also upgrade my vehicle to a Jeep, like I own. I agreed to this deal and wanted to leave my complaint at that. I arrived to pick up my rental about 11:30pm on 7/4 where I was being helped by Arthur who proceeded to make the situation awkward by bringing up my email and complaint. He then physically grabbed me to "hug it out". Very uncomfortable and unwanted. We looked at the vehicle for any scratches or damage and I quickly left. I noticed what I thought to be the passenger seatbelt light flashing, as I had my bags on the seat and thought nothing of it. The next day I called to verify the discount since Arthur had not seen it in the notes. The manager (John?) had no idea of Loni's offer and another headache ensued while we tried to reach Loni via cell phone. Finally, everything with the pricing was worked out. The rest of the week I went to work and home as normal almost always placing my purse and nursing equipment on the seat. I dropped the car off in the exact condition as it was given to me in. Last week I received a call from a man stating I needed to elaborate on an airbag light, I stated that light was on when I picked the car up. Today, I received a bill for an unplugged connector under the seat. I can honestly say this has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced. This is not damage, this is an unplugged wire, probably by your cleaning crew, as I never placed anything under the seat and as I previously stated, the car was in this condition when picked up. I have been inconvenienced by a dead battery and told to fix it myself, berated by an employee, then battered by the same employee, offered a deal that I had to struggle to actually get, and now being gouged for an unplugged wire. Corporate has failed to contact me back so far. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. I'm contacting the BBB now. read more
