At this point in my life, Alamo has become my default rental car company and this time around the experience was as great as I have come to expect from Alamo. [Counter]: The rental car counters at Spokane International Airport (GEG) are all located within a 5 to 10 minute walk from all concourses. There is no need to take shuttles or trams. [Rate]: Approximately $90 for a one-day rental of a midsize car. [Checking-in]: I accidentally waited in the wrong line and ended up having a staff member from National assist with my Alamo check-in. National and Alamo are owned by the same parent company (Enterprise Holdings). I had already checked in ahead of time via email, but I still needed to sign the rental agreement at the counter. [Pick-up]: To my surprise, I picked up a brand-new Nissan Sentra with only 8 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately, I was a little confused because there was no exit booth for checkout and I actually circled back to the pickup area & double-checked with a staff member. Unlike other rental car centers at larger airports, once car key is secured at the rental car counter then just simply drive out. [Drop-off]: Easy drop-off, but I had to flag down a staff member as there was only one person handling the return process for all returned vehicles. [Conclusion]: Overall the service was friendly and efficient, but it would be even better if (1) there were one more staff member supporting the pick-up and drop-off processes and (2) staff provided clearer airport exit instructions to avoid second guessing. read more

The Alamo counter is in the airport and cars are close by. The line moves fast and the check out process was very quick and efficient. The staff members were very friendly, caring and helpful. We were in and out in a couple minutes. Prices were very reasonable and we loved our experience here. Great job Alamo! read more

I've rented vehicles from this location a couple of times over the past month and its been fine. Check in only took a few minutes and returns were the same. I rented a small economy car the first time and it cost about $53 for one day. I needed the car for one day and four hours and that ended up costing me a little over $40 more for those few hours. With taxes and fees the total was about $135. If I would have known that an few extra hours would almost equal another full day's charges, I would have tried to get an earlier flight out of the airport so I could have brought the car back sooner. The second time I rented another small economy car but they said they were giving me a "complementary upgrade" which in my experience with car rentals, means they didn't have any economy at the time. I got a midsize instead. They also gave me two sets of keys which wasn't necessary but they wouldn't let me take only one so I had to carry around two sets of bulky keys everywhere. This time the cost was about $60 for a day and I only had the car for around four and a half days but they charged me for "a full week" of five days. With taxes and fees the total was a little over $400. I'd rent from Alamo again, at least this one anyway. read more

Apparently Thrifty had different holiday hours so they left before I arrived to pick up my car. Others were in the same boat so we had to migrate over to Alamo. Charles helped me get a car last minute with a free upgrade. Cost was ultimately cheaper than what I had originally booked with Thrifty. Great service, quick and easy! read more

Because I didn't realize/wasn't told that I could not use my debit card to rent the car I had reserved on June 7, I was unable to make it to Seattle to see my granddaughters! I should have researched more, but I made the mistake of assuming if I could pay for the insurance with my debit card, I should be able to use it otherwise. read more

SOOOO ... I booked my 1 week rental of a car, full 7 days (168 hours). I didn't realize my return flight was off, so I was late in returning my car by 2 hours. The rental for 168 hours cost me $538 ... the 2.5 hrs of overage cost me an additional $144 ... Tried to dispute with CS and got a "that is what is charged for the overage". This is a very poor customer experience. Lesson to others, overstate how long you will have the car rental by a few hours at time of rental, or make sure you return by end time :-( .... read more

There is nothing more disappointing than getting off a flight that landed 20 minutes early on Thanksgiving Day, and spending the next 45 min waiting in line for a rental car. It was raining outside and every person in the airport was in line in front of us. (No joke). We happened to be the last people to get to the front of the Alamo counter and the girl (Debbie?) who helped us was so sweet. She offered us a free upgrade to a Jeep, which we declined since the snow-free roads sounded more fun in a Dodge Charger. Once we finally were able to get to the front, the process was quick and painless. Got a great deal on the long, holiday weekend too, and the entire rental cost was under $100. Our return flight home on Sunday was at 5:15 a.m., before the Alamo rental counter opens, so we used their key drop-box system and it was really simple and fast. Just parked in the spot we grabbed the car from (or nearby since someone was already in our spot) and leave the keys in the box on their counter. We have a few more rentals coming up with Alamo in Arizona and Nevada, and I'm looking forward to more great cars for the lowest prices, with friendly customer service. read more

This location has a general manager whom feels it's appropriate to not only take advantage of the disabled and veterans but make sure they know he will do everything in his power to insure your experience is painful! My flight from Phoenix to Spokane was delayed (big suprise). Called Alamo and spoke with Bret that are new arrival time would be 11:34 p.m. He told me that they usually stay until a little after midnight so that shouldn't be a problem. Our flight didn't land until 12:30 a.m. I hustled down and Bret was still there waiting for myself and another traveler who had also been delayed. I needed the car to drive to Sand Point, ID to spend Thanksgiving week with my elderly parents (who are in ill health) as well as my brother and his family. First of all, the car I reserved was not available so they gave me an SUV (gas hog). I looked the car over and it looked fine. No agent was with me so I guess I wasn't thorough enough before I drove off. I only drove the car a few miles the whole trip. There was no rain so didn't use the windshield wipers at all. Only drove on the freeway to get to town. When I returned the car the person who looked it over immediately lifted one of the wipers and said there was a chip. I believe the chip was there already but couldn't prove it. I just received the bill for the chip and they replaced the whole windshield. $500+. Beware of renting a car from Alamo. If you do, make sure you look over the vehicle thoroughly before driving off. I never thought to lift the wipers. They should have someone with you to document any damage before you drive off. read more

Don't rent from them unless you want to wait over an hour for your car to be "disinfected". Every other car company in this airport has gotten their customers out the door as they check in. Less than good customer service. If you don't like people, or are bored, probably not the job for you. Tim was the person on deck on Tuesday (9/10) when I picked up my vehicle. If I choose to decline an upgrade, or if I carry personal insurance for rental cars, that's my choice, and I don't appreciate the condescending attitude I received from the clerk at the desk. Apparently repeat business is not a priority at Alamo. I don't enjoy writing a review like this, but personally I would want to know if I were the manager. I had a rental reserved for late in the evening, and my flight was delayed until after they closed, so I called to see what could be done, and was told that they would stay open up to 2 hours for delayed flights if my flight info was on my reservation. It was (I added when I made the booking over a month ago), so I thought we'd be ok. After a long and stressful travel time, I get to the counter only to find them very much closed. I had to get a hotel, which cost me $170 and a day of my holiday time. I came to the desk on a bit of a warpath the next morning, and was told that the 800 number tells people that but it's not the case and they shouldn't say that. Not my problem right? So I was pretty upset about the issue, and was initially offered a discount of 1 day, which did not even put a dent in the extra $$ I had spent, not to mention my lost travel time. Ultimately, Cassi and Ian treated me very well and I was satisfied with the solution we arrived at. To be honest, I went in there in full Karen mode, and they handled themselves with excellent composure! Thanks for taking care of my issue, and the only reason it's not 5 stars is because I had the issue in the first place - the staff and service at this location are top notch! read more

I ended up getting a car at this location through Vacations by Marriott since it was a package deal. The total cost for both the inn and car was $180 dollars which is not bad in my opinion. Alamo was located within the terminal and it was easy to find. Once I got to the front of the line, the process was quick and smooth. The person that was helping me seem like he was bored and wanted to leave. He told me that I would also be charged a "young renter fee". So if you are younger then 25 you will also be charged this fee. I wish that they had mention the fee before instead of having a hidden/surprise fee since it was not mention when I booked the deal. You then go out into the parking garage and get your vehicle. I rented a Nissan Sentra which was in good condition and very clean. It also cost $23 for Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). Since I was from out of state the CDW was something I was interested in. For new people renting cares a CDW is the company waiving its right to collect a high deductible from you if the car is damaged. Just keep in mind that the CDW does not eliminate the deductible instead it can reduce the cost. read more

Every year I rent a large van or SUV for a week and take a bunch of teens to camp about 6 hr away. In recent years I have used a different rental company but this year I decided to do some searching and found a good rental price from Alamo by a little over 150 bucks! The rental was for a 15 or 12 passenger ford transit or similar. Now I am well aware of the "or similar" phrase as I have rented ( and been disappointed) many times before. But usually what I got was at least in good shape. Instead of a nice ford transit with nice seats and a backup cam, I get an worn chevy express that while functional is a rough experience inside. None of the niceties of the ford transit, this is a bare bones, scraped up, dusty, 15 passenger van. I also make sure to put another driver as eligible just in case something happens, what I didn't realize was it was another 70 dollar for someone who probably won't drive unless there is a problem. This makes the value less great and more in the realms of ok. If it was a nice vehicle I would have swallowed this without a problem, but what I received was far from nice, I wouldn't buy a vehicle that looked like this. Unfortunately I didn't really have an choice at the end but to take what was given, I just probably won't make the Alamo choice again. On our way up to Canada, we had a low tire pressure message come up on the vehicle which turned out to be a screw in the tire that needed repair. We messaged Alamo to inform them of this. After a long day of travel and multiple delayed flights, I was ready to start my vacation by picking up my car at Alamo Rental Car. After several conversations with Britney about the delays and an assurance that they would stay later than the location hours I arrived to the Alamo Rental Car counter to find no one. They had left while all the other rental counters still had employees still working (Hertz, Avis, Budget, Dollar) to ensure they could honor their customers' reservations. We were told by the airport service staff that they had just left. No one bothered to check our flight information (which they had) and no one bothered to call us (they also had my phone number). All that was left was a hotel coupon for the airport Ramada -- not a voucher but a coupon for a discounted stay so we could pay an additional $90 to stay at an airport hotel to wait for them to show up again in 7 hours. This was an incredible frustrating experience, it cost us an additional $500 to get a new car reservation at 1am on a holiday weekend (we needed to start driving that night and couldn't afford to wait till the morning), and no one from Alamo cares. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. You will be better off working with any of the other rental car companies at Spokane Airport (Dollar, Budget, Avis, or Hertz). At least you know they will still be there when you arrive. TL:DR - Alamo left us when we had a long hard day of travel. No employees. No car. They just needed to wait 5 more minutes but didn't... don't use them THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. read more

The price is right and the SUV was great. They could use some more personnel to help out though. The fellow at the check in counter was very friendly. The SUV we wanted was not ready so I was told to stand by the curb and wait while they brought it to me. I stood waiting and watched as someone drove up in an SUV and parked about 50' away. He exited the car and walked inside. Being as I was the only one waiting curbside I didn't think that was our car or he would have stopped when he saw me rather than drive by me. About 5 minutes passed and no one came so I went back in asking where our car was and the man at the counter said the guy didn't see anyone at the curb so left the keys for me at the counter. I realized he wasn't looking for me - he was just delivering a car. Disappointing. When we returned the car there was no one outside to check in with. The sign said to go inside so we had wait in line the same line as the others who were renting cars. There was only 1 person at the counter so this took quite some time. I would agree with the person that said they were understaffed. There was only one person at the desk for check-in which made the process slow. The car itself was brand new and great. Return was very efficient and quick. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend a better inspection of the interior of the cars before they go out, ours had something sticky spilled in the back seat that was missed when they cleaned it. read more

I liked that the rental car office was right in the terminal at Spokane, and the cars were right outside the terminal, very convenient. Slightly disappointed with the car, a full size Chrysler 200, a bit underpowered with a 4 cyl engine, was hoping for a Ford Fusion. But it drove well on the highway, and had plenty of room. Also got good gas mileage, about 32 on Hwy. Very supportive, helpful Alamo staff, drop off was a breeze. This is my second Alamo rental, wouldn't hesitate to use them again when their pricing is good. read more
