The money you spend here, they will give to local communities and schools that help your children. They try to accommodate the customer as much as possible. Almost always, (ALMOST) they are super friendly and go out of their way for the fellow patron. They carry your groceries out and have a conversation with you, not taking tip money. You can get something quickly and get out quickly most of the tIme. They will special order something for you. This pharmacy is one of the best we've ever used. I wish we could have brought them with us when we moved. Sales are pretty good! Theeir CAKE decorator is super awesome and the prices can not be beat. Like for real!

I see these women at the deli standing around, but they stalled and not order when I walked up. I notice the guy working there is a young black guy, I look, but I didn't want anything, just as I was about to leave and he starts handing out extra large boxes of fried chicken from deli that were on top of the counter to these black woman who were standing there and come up to him without saying a word, like they had it planned. They just had a smile and a smirk in their faces. I think they got them free because there were no tags on any of the boxes and just put them in their carts. Not sure if they paid at the register, but if the guy is just giving them away, how often is this happening? Isn't the store suppose to repackage them in the containers with the plastic covers to resell the next day, or weigh all waste to get tax credit. To Brookshire ( Be careful who you hire)! Someone always loses!

We may not have a ton of grocery options out here, so it's really nice having a store that feels clean, fresh, and genuinely welcoming. Everything was stocked and fresh :) Big shoutout to Janet at checkout... patience of a saint. She helped me work through some coupon issues while also juggling helping several other customers at the same time. You can tell she really cares, and it did not go unnoticed. Thanks for letting me know about the blueberry coupon!! Also, Kevin in seafood was awesome. Just friendly, smiling, and helpful. Honestly, everybody in the store seemed happy, which makes a difference these days. And whoever was in charge of the music deserves a raise because hearing Janet Jackson's "Miss You Much" while shopping in the bread aisle really made my day. You officially have a customer for life.

I want to start by saying I genuinely love HEB, it's our favorite grocery chain, so much so I will…read moredrive 45min to go to the McKinney HEB. Most locations deliver on that reputation. The Melissa location, unfortunately, is a real disappointment and doesn't reflect the standard HEB has set elsewhere. The store frequently feels like it's operating in a state of disarray. Shelves are often bare, items are regularly out of stock, and the overall organization leaves a lot to be desired. More frustrating, the product quality has been consistently questionable. We've picked up cheese that turned out to be molded and tortillas that were stale, almost as if they'd been reheated and restocked rather than rotated properly. Produce tends to be overripe or outright unusable. These aren't one-time flukes. It seems like it's a pattern. The staff experience is also a notable departure from what you expect at HEB. Employees frequently seem frustrated, and the warm, helpful vibe that defines most HEB locations is largely absent here. The online order pickers are a particular issue. Their large carts are routinely parked across aisles while employees chat, making navigation difficult. Politely asking them to move is not well received. I understand they have a job to do, and I respect that, but at every other HEB location I've visited, it simply isn't a problem. The cashiers are flat out grumpy. They will fling your items across the scanner and down to the bagger, and the customer frequently has to bag their own groceries. Which I don't mind normally but they could be a little nicer about it. We also attended the crawfish boil event on the first Sunday it launched, we got there about an hour in, and it was a mess!! They were already nearly out of supplies, staff had no answers about whether more food would be prepared, and one employee admitted live crawfish were sitting on a pallet somewhere but he had no idea what was happening with them. We ended up driving to the McKinney location instead, which was well worth the extra miles. I hope HEB management takes a closer look at this location. The potential is there, it just isn't being realized. Until things improve, we'll be making the drive to McKinney. 2 stars because I love HEB and everything they do for Texas but just not this location.

THE SCENE While on vacation in McKinney, friends of ours…read moremade this statement: "If you guys love food, you have to try this place down the road. It's arguably the best burger you'll ever have." *Ding, Ding, Ding!* I'll take 'let's go right now' for $200 Alex! Well, needless to say, we have a slight difference of opinion in the definition of "best". The recent history of this place is rather sad. The previous owner was accidentally killed in an incident involving a riding lawn tractor last year. http://www.scntx.com/articles/2011/05/26/mckinney_courier-gazette/news/9822.txt Although the new owners try very hard to maintain previous standards, the food appears to have suffered with the loss. My friend did not tell me it had been several years since his last visit, which was prior to the death of the original owner. So he was also a little surprised with the taste. The folks running the place now are very friendly, but also take their time in delivering your food. I was on vacation, so I had all the time in the world. But if I were stopping on my lunch break, I would have been very annoyed. ---------- - - - - - - - - - - THE DETAILS Date & Time: Thursday, July 12th, 2012 @ 12:15pm Dining Companions: my good friend What to expect: Old school tables & chairs, simple decor, signature wall Decor: reminded me of an old classroom trailer (except much larger) Service: Friendly Liquid: Vanilla Root Beer (bottled) Ordered: 1/2 pound & reg. burger, Jr. burger, 2 fries, onion ring, drink Dislikes: Charred onions and black charred remains from the grill on my burger Total: $19.78 ---------- - - - - - - - - - - THE FOOD My 1/2 pound cheeseburger ($5.89 + .50 cheese) was very good, but a long way from being considered the best. I liked the toasted bun but disliked having charred grilled onions which also still had the skin on prior to grilling. Instead of a beautiful caramel color, they were burnt and ugly. Also, I can't properly describe it, but the juiciness of my burger was marred by the fact it seemed too dark in color (see napkin on pic). The fries on the other hand were excellent! I also ordered a local vanilla Root Beer brand labelled Frosties. The 4-pack containers these drinks come in made for whimsical table decorations (gotta love country folks). Unfortunately, it had a medicine taste to it, so I really didn't enjoy it as much as I would have hoped. THE VERDICT Overall it's a decent burger choice and BONUS, they let you write comments with a permanent marker on the wall near the entrance. I probably will not visit again, especially now that In-N-Out Burger has a store nearby. However, I did enjoy the experience and met a few really nice people.

Fourteen months ago I started eating carnivore and although I was already buying my meat here I feared that a carnivore diet was going to be too expensive. I found that not only are the prices very reasonable but that I can buy a variety of animal proteins that I enjoy, like turkey thighs, duck, along with chicken parts. I have found that I spend considerably less eating carnivore than I did when I was buying vegetables. I have been very pleased with the quality of the meat and the prices over all at the store. The people who work here are also kind and helpful. The people in the meat department recognize and greet me. They have so many different cuts of beef and I often ask questions on how they need to be cooked. When I have asked other staff for the location of an item, they stop what they are doing and escort me to the location, which on several occasions were on the top of the shelf and being disabled it is hard to stand and reach things when sitting in a mobile cart. My only complaint has been that often the mobile carts are inoperable, and it's very frustrating not to be able to shop when there are 4 to 5 mobile carts sitting there that don't work. Thankfully they have gotten them repaired and purchased some new ones but they still need to be more diligent in making sure they are plugged in when not in use so it is charged up for the next person.
