The famous balls were good, a touch salty but perfect with a squeeze of lemon juice and the sauce on the side. Stopped in for a late lunch after a morning of geocaching along the C&E Canal. Let's get the negatives out of the way. The name- and all the merchandising inside the resturaunt- is clearly sophomoric. Come on... this isn't a college campus...can't come up with a classier approach? The other gripe is the prices. Inflated. $17 for a crab cake sandwich, fries and an iced tea. Everything was overpriced. Positives? The crab cake sandwich was good, fries were likewise tasty, old bay popcorn was interesting, and others at the table liked the crab soup. Also, the interior of this old inn was very cool. Not period, by any means, but pretty cool. Table clothes were brown butcher paper. I'd come back...exactly once. No more, no less. Food and atmosphere are the redeeming qualities. read more

My husband and I had carry out from here on Mother's Day. We're new to town and wanted fish so this place fit our need. We'd driven to Delaware City from near Wilmington and looked up fish places on Yelp. We called other places but they weren't open due to the pandemic so Crabby Dick's won our attention. We both ordered 'Fish and Chips' from the to-go menu. It took about 35 minutes to fill our phone order when they said 15-20. The food was hot and came with plenty of tartar sauce. We each received two fairly long but thin pieces of fish. I don't know if it was the fish or the batter but the taste was just ok. Nothing special. The fries were good but again, just ok. This was my first visit and it was for a business lunch, and we were in a rush. The wait staff was very friendly, and we were seated right away. We let them know about our time constrains and both they, and the kitchen staff, made sure things were out for us right away. Great customer service. I wish i had the time to eat the crabs. But we all were going for "quick". So, I "settled" for the Oyster sandwich. I say "Settled", because there was nothing second rate about this sandwich. I definitely didn't "settle" for second best. She informed us of the best sellers and made a few recommendations. Her personality stood out from many other places we have gone simply because she was friendly and polite. The meals were delicious! I never have a bad visit here, to the point that I just had my wedding reception on the deck, which was also perfect! We had quite a few people that had never been to the restaurant and can't wait to go back, due to the food, service and relaxed atmosphere. There are water side views outside, but that certainly does come with some flies and whatnot. If you don't want to deal with that, ask to be seated inside - they will certainly accommodate you! The beginning of this dining experience started with an overwhelmed hostess. I told her it would be a party of 6, and she looked as if I told her it was a party of 60. We followed her to the back of the restaurant and assisted her in moving tables together before settling on a small table in the back. The menu was amusing and charming which we all expected given the name of the restaurant. We weren't informed of any specials or changes in the menu. After we placed our orders, we were informed that a number of the menu items were out (oysters, coconut shrimp, limes for drinks, hard crabs). That was unfortunate. Five out of 6 of our orders came out. My boyfriend's food, however, took quite some time to be prepared. At first, the server brought out the wrong dish. As he waited, they did bring out his side dishes. By the time my boyfriend's food was ready, everyone had already finished their meals. I assume the manager brought out his meal, for it was not our original server. The manager was not apologetic as he placed the late dish in the middle of the table instead of placing it in front of the person who clearly did not have a plate in front of him. The server was apologetic of the wait and discounted half of my boyfriend's meal. She expressed that she would pay for the other half if the discounted meal was not good enough. She was clearly upset for the delay, and it seems like she had gone through this situation more than once on this day. We took the discount and tipped her generously. If this restaurant had good management, the manager should have apologized instead of having their servers do the dirty work. read more

Let's start by saying we were seated and then 15 mins later waitress came and took our drink order. Just so you are aware an original margarita is $14.00 a drink yes that is correct. After receiving our drinks it was other 14-16 mins for the waitress to come back for our dinner order. Here is where it gets good. 36 mins later waitress comes to tell me they have no clams and I will have to order something else. 36 mins!! We could no longer wait being there for over 1.25 hrs. We arrived here by boat and as we came to the Restaurant for lunch we were told that they were not seating people because the kitchen was overwhelmed. (Saturday 1pm) We walked around for 5-10 minutes and were seated around back. CD's offers free popcorn sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning. Just an average crab/seafood restaurant. Food is ok, but not great. Out door seating is nice, service good. My old fashioned was well made. We shared one of the pots, and while the food was ample without any hot sauce of some sort...even just a hot brine, by the time you get half way through the mussels et al are cold. We went there for dinner one Friday night. The restaurant is located right by Delaware City waterfront. There is a small park right outside. I left my 15 mo old played there a little bit before we went in. There is also an ice cream shop right next door and a few other shops on the same street. Parking was easy since there were not many people and plenty of parking around the restaurant. When we went inside, it was actually quite packed. Everything inside was a bit old but it kept the Victorian style that I like. As for our dining experience, we ordered the "Best of Both" soup, famous balls and the Admiral bucket. The soup was quite tasty and so were the balls. When it came to the steam bucket we had, it was $24 for a few shrimps, 1 snow crab and 1 corn. I think it's totally overpriced for what you get. The shrimps we got were not de-vained. And the snow crab was not fresh. You can tell it was frozen before. In terms of service, it was not good. Our server was nice but he was not there most of the time. He didn't bring out any trash bucket for shells of shrimps and crabs. He didn't give us a shell cracker. All the empty plates kept piling up and no one came pick them up. We kept asking whoever server I saw to help. Even when we were trying to pay for our bill, he was still missing in action. We left cash on the table and had to walk around to find a server to let them know we are leaving cash on the table. it seems more like we served ourselves more than we were served. read more

Oyster PoBoy was pretty good. I prefer a harder bread/roll, but that is personal preference. The hushpuppuies were the best we've ever had!! Moist, cooked perfectly and served with a bit of powered sugar. It is the first time I've ever had it that way, and the mix of sweet and savory was really nice. Also had a coffee at their store next door and it was peefect! Even had the added bonus of being served with real whipped cream. Keep in mind this review is of my dinner with friends on May 4th 2019. It was very busy. They had a live country/rock band and the food was excellent as always. But..... The service was awful. Our food orders were done incorrectly three times. I ordered the chicken and chips. Its a simple dish, fried chicken breasts, fries and slaw. I got corn on the cob, no fries. Not that big of a deal but my dad ordered the fried oysters platter and got oysters on the half shell instead? There were several other issues but the odd thing was they took our food back and then brought it back wrong a second time. I got the chicken and cob again but no slaw but rice? I also asked for napkins and a ice water. Both of which I never got after asking three times. Our server seemed completely unprepared and lacked any real training for high volume restaurant servicing. She kept offering excuses for the issues but she clearly didn't care about her job. But did care for a cute guy sitting behind us, because while we waited on our drinks she sat And chatted with him for 10 minutes. Now it may have been her break but it left a sour taste in our mouths. My dad and I finished eating and paid our bill. It was $56.73 and that's with a $5.00 tip. Normally I would tip at least $10.00 on a tab of $50.00+ but her service or that lack of showed the tip she would get. read more

I'm going to get the negative out of way. 1. We sat down at a table with a dead fly on it, only to find that the whole inside of the restaurant had houseflies in it. 2. They have cloth table cloths with texture on it so all the crumbs from the people before us were still on the table when we were sat. I really wanted to get up right then but my boyfriend is very laid back and after wiping the dead fly and crumbs off the table we continued to sit there. They seem to love honey mustard there. We got crab balls and they came with honey mustard. We got hush puppies that came with honey mustard. And i got a crab ball po-boy that came with....honey mustard. Just seemed strange. First of all.... The bathrooms were DISGUSTING! My son went into the men's bathroom and there was crap all over the toilet. The place should be called CRAPPY dicks! Now into the main dinner....we ordered crab cakes, crab legs with shrimp, a hamburger, and a pasta dish. While we were waiting 55 minutes for our dinner my son and I had the highlight of the CRAPPY dicks adventure playing the Claw game trying to catch a crab stuffed animal. Clayt told us our food will be out soon and the delay was due to the fact another server took one of the hamburger dinner. Finally, the food came with only 2 hot meals, the pasta and hamburger. The 2 $25 seafood meals were cold. Clayt didn't come back after he dropped off our food for 10 minutes, knowing the was a high possibility the seafood meals were not warm. The crab cakes were awful along with cold and the crab legs and shrimp were barley editable. Overall we had the 'best' worst meal we ever had. And plan on never going back and recommending one to NOT go to CRAPPY DICKS! p.s CRAPPY DICKS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have eaten here a few times since it is a nice trip on the motorcycle. It's real close to the Delaware River and you can take a short cruise nearby over to Fort Delaware. The food is good, staff is good and the popcorn with Old Bay on it is great. Always ate outside here. read more

I totally felt like a food snob going here yesterday as I have never been so disgusted by the food at a restaurant. My guests had the fried crab cake. I didn't know that deep frying a crab cake is a thing until yesterday. Why do some places equate seafood with frying? Not all seafood has to be fried!!! The guest that got the cole slaw on the side found it had nearly no dressing on it. It looked bone dry. The second had green beans that had what they said was an onion skin in it, but it looked more like a cellophane noodle (but they did not have any Asian dishes). It truly looked like snot. The manager asked if we wanted them replaced, I clearly said no, but she still brought them. I got the fish tacos thinking it would not be fried and expecting at least something like those from a food truck, but it was literally a friend fish stick in a tortilla. Nothing else inside. It looked so sad. The cole slaw on the side was dry, and the pineapple salsa, also on the side, had the grey coloring of being a few days old. It came with tortilla chips that were stale too. The entire meal cost way more than it should have for barely being late night bar food. I wanted to go into the kitchen and show whatever "chef" they had how to at least prepare one dish freshly. It felt like they are torn between being a kitchy dive place and wanting to be a real restaurant judging by what sounds like their attempt at a decent seafood menu. I think this is more a place you go to have drinks on the waterfront and maybe get an appetizer, but save your money for ANY PLACE else for a meal. I would get a hot dog from 7-eleven before going back into this place. I agree with one of the reviews that they theme seemed to go a little pervy. This is my second time coming to this location and it won't be my last!! The service for one makes you want to come back. From the two girls that seat you to the people just walking around. Everyone is always nice. Our Server this time was Kevin. Very sweet and attentive. Answered all of our annoying questions and never once was short with us. We had soooo much food. The new menu is amazing. We ordered 2 bbq nachos, 2 pizza balls , cup of both soups, crab pretzel, a bowl of cream of crab, and we had a couple beers. We did an outdoor table last weekend during COVID and the wait staff was a little rusty and out of practice. But they were trying... Everyone was trying hard. The food was very good. I think if I went back next week they would get five stars, but unfortunately, I don't get down that way but a couple of times a summer. I had the crab cake sandwich and there was plenty of crab meat. It was not all bread & fillers like so many other places. The outdoor seating was comfortable, even on a hot day, because you're so close to the Delaware River (or bay maybe, it looked pretty wide). Stopped in for lunch Sunday 24Mar19 and wanted to order our usual "Ball Sampler Platter" and was told we don't make that anymore. We ordered the corn balls and when they came we gasped, they were half the size they use to be! My wife ordered the broiled fish tacos and payed extra to change from chips to fries. When her order came it was fried fish with about 10 fries on her plate! I ordered the shrimp wrap, it was good and changed my side to macaroni salad which came in a little bowl the size of about four spoonfuls. Took forever to get our second round of drinks. I definitely think something happened to this place since they sold Lewinsky's or we just picked an off day. Will try again in future because we did love this place! read more
