I am close to 9-10 years as a client of Delores. This is close to a record for me. I love the work of Ashley. She is meticulous and never rushes me. I am now retired and I go every four weeks, primarily because I decided to grow a beard. Ashley's boyfriend has a beard, dark and it lies smoothly as though it was trimmed hours earlier. Me, not so lucky. I love the beard but it does not lay smoothly like many African-American men for example. I Could not be more impressed and satisfied with Delores's and especially Ashley. I came to her originally with red hair via a box and wanted to be blonde, and I appreciated her honesty about what my options were and the price. I got a hot stone facial from Melissa at Dolores Hair Design and WOW! Melissa was amazing. This was the first facial I received with hot stones, and the goodness doesn't stop there. Melissa used a mini "vacuum" gun to help suck out all the nasty gunk from my pores. That is a deep clean right there. The vacuum was fun, it felt like a little octopus tentacle running across my face. Then she gave my head a mini massage and included an ear rub. By the time I was done I was in deep relaxation mode, feeling truly pampered. Right now the facial room is in what seems to be a little closet at Dolores' but I heard that they are moving to a larger space in the plaza giving more room for Melissa. This Salon is AMAZING. I have never stayed with one particular hair stylist for any amount of time until I met Michael a couple of years ago. I went to see him using a Groupon and have continued to go to him since then. I can't stress enough how much I love this man!!! I am biracial and have some crazy hair and he always manages to do wonders with it. I wouldn't go anywhere else!!! The Staff here is great. Very warm and friendly. I'm honestly not sure how anyone could have a negative thing to say about anyone here. I'm no one special and they have always treated me awesome and I have always received great service. I purchased a groupon for a haircut with Melissa. I was looking for a new stylist because mine recently moved out of state. I saw great reviews for Melissa on groupon's website so I thought, "This should be good!" I got there and she seemed very disinterested. I had two photos on my phone of two different but similar styles (one with bangs, one without) to show her. I acknowledged that they were different but she just said, "Those are two totally different styles." I felt silly for showing her the photos of hair styles I liked after her reaction. Later I thought, wouldn't a photo be better than me trying to explain to you what I want?? I had some sinus issues when I went in, also. I was not contagious. I know she wouldn't know that but she said to me, "Are you sick? Because if you're sick I'm gonna have you wear a mask! I can't get sick!" I respect that you don't want to be infected. There are ways to approach this issue and the way she did so was not a good one. It was very abrasive. I felt very uncomfortable after that. She styled my hair curly without asking what kind of style I wanted that day. I told her I wore my hair curly sometimes but she never asked how I wanted it styled and just went for it. She was all-together disinterested in cutting my hair and asking questions about what I wanted. I think she asked me which side I parted my hair on but that was about it. I'm not a difficult person to please by any means but I was put off almost immediately after sitting in the chair and seeing her cavalier attitude. I was hopeful to secure a new stylist but apparently that wasn't in the cards. read more

My normal stylist has very limited hours due to a new job opportunity so it was time for me to "interview" a new stylist. And by interview, I mean, let someone cut my hair and see how it goes! While scoping Groupon, I found a deal for Michael Cremar at Dolores Hair Design. I was able to easily schedule an appointment with him online for a date about a week after my Groupon purchase. Michael is fantastic!! He really talks to you to find out what you want and he gave me a beautiful cut! I am delighted with his work and...it's close to home, it's easy to get to, he works very efficiently (shampoo, cut and blow out in about 45 mins) and the prices are exactly what I would have paid at my previous salon. Don't let Melissa near your hair if you have or want blonde highlights. I went in expecting a professional natural weave of two blondes, one bleach, one light blonde. I even brought a picture. I have been to many stylists over the course of 10 years of having blonde highlighted hair. I didn't expect to be treated differently because I had purchased a groupon but apparently, any hair length past your shoulders requires an upcharge. I have never had a professional stylist impose a charge like this before. She also told me that to get my level of lightening she would need to use a toner and after spending $37 on a groupon worth $100, she wanted to charge me $50 extra. This would have been ok if she had done a decent job but the chunky highlights she did looked like something a teenager doing their first foil highlights would do. To give you an example, my normal stylist would use around 50 foils on the top of my head to achieve a natural weave pattern. She probably used less than 15. Now I look like I'm stuck in 2002, versus 2018. I told her I wanted it to be closer to platinum than golden and after the first shampoo at home, (using a purple shampoo) my hair is super yellow and nothing like what I wanted or showed her in the picture. Also, Melissa does not ask you how you want your hair styled, she just curled my hair after drying it (which I think she did to cover up the bad highlights)and she wasn't gentle with the brush when drying my wet hair, which can cause a lot of breakage when it's just been bleached. Overall, I would not recommend her or ever go back to her. She is not on the level of any other professional hairstylist I've ever been to. She needs to go back to school and learn some natural highlight foil weaving techniques. read more

He spent quite a bit of time with me making sure we were on the same page, as he wanted to do my cut, color and highlights exactly how I wanted it done. Everything came out just like I wanted. After being disappointed time after time at Charles Penzone (it was "ok" but certainly not worth the price) I tried this place. I absolutely love Michael. Not only does he do a great job, but he listens and "hears" exactly what you want. He has MANY ex-Charles Penzone clients. In 1 hour I can get partial highlights and a trim. DO NOT GO HERE I've never written a review on here before, but I had such an awful experience that I needed to share it. I am a new customer who purchased a Groupon for a "Haircut with Michael" Here's the story: I scheduled the appointment for 1:30pm on a weekday. Admittingly, I was 5mins late. When I walked in, I was not greeted, and told the receptionist that I had an appointment with Michael. Another customer chimed in behind me and said she also had an appointment with Michael (at the same time). When Michael entered the room, he immediately went to the computer to look at the schedule, and (I am assuming he double-booked us), asked the woman if she could come back - so spent about 5mins rescheduling with this woman. After that, he signaled me over to the chair. Before I could sit down, he told me to wait while he swept the hair under the chair and clean the workstation. During this time, I asked if I could run to my car to get my phone charger and he responded with "Hurry up, because we're already late." Upon my speedy return, he directed me over to the sink, but I explained that I had just washed my hair the night before and could skip the hair washing. We agreed upon a dry cut. Then I sat in the chair and explained the type of haircut I wanted. He interrupted and said, "Oh no no no, we don't have time for that!" - and went on to (loudly) proclaim that I have "two options: either refund the Groupon, or schedule the appointment for another day!" I honestly did not know how to respond. I explained that I drove 30mins for the appointment, and that we were both late - however since we are not washing my hair, perhaps a quick haircut was feasible. He continued to repeatedly yell at me (in front of other customers) and tell me this is all because I was late. I could have went to the receptionist, who was silent throughout this dramatic brawl, but was so traumatized by the experience that I could not speak. I would not recommend this place to anyone. MICHEAL WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND EXTREMELY RUDE. He could have easily explained that we did not have enough time to complete the service, and kindly rescheduled me, but instead berated me in a dramatic manner. Can I give a no star for Michael if I could? I bought a Groupon for a package for cut and balayage $55.00, and also added a grey coverage $25.00 in salon. The hairstylist, Michael, was giving me a mouthful of attitude over the phone when I first called to make an appointment telling me some negative stuff about a longer hair will have to pay extra and how went on about how he hates people who doesn't read the fine prints when they are buying Groupon. So wondering why the hell is he doing business through Groupons?! Anyways, since I can't get refunds from Groupons, hesitantly I made appointment. I watched how he interacted with other clients, and couldn't help notice that he treated me with less mannerism compared to his Caucasian clients because I'm an Asian. The salon was so dark and the lighting was shinening offset away from his booth and I couldn't see the final results too well. Next day, I showed my new hair style to my friend at work. She said she see something that should NOT be there on back of my hair. She took a picture of an orange polka dot on my dark hair! The balayage was a complete disaster like a tri-colored calico cat with orange, ash blond, and dark brown with wide painted highlights looking like I let a little child paint. My grey coverage which I paid an extra dollars were not covering anything except for my front portion where I can easily see. He should noticed all of these terrible flaws when he was finishing my hair but said nothing other than, "You look gorgeous!" at the end. In spite of Michael's under skilled results, I still gave him a chance to fix the problems and called him and made a follow up appoint,net in one week. He texted me saying he caught bronchitis and cannot do my appointment in another week. I replied and said I don't want to wait another week having these crappy hair and I requested refunds. I gave him over a week to get better. He still has NOT Replied nor Called me back ever since. I left him another VM today but he never called back and completely ignoring. Michael does a cheap service to fit the inexpensive Groupon price and cheats out of the clients with dim light to softens the flaws. He is a fraud business and not worth the money! He should be reported to the Groupon for complains of providing poor service. Very unprofessional and irresponsible. I want my full money back for his less than a mediocre service provided, so I can get my hair disaster fixed elsewhere by a real hairstylist. read more
