If I could put zero stars I would. I am very very very disappointed in this place where we used to feel like family at. My aunt and I went to have lunch on Wednesday March 30,2022 and felt very uncomfortable by the disrespect, attitude, and disgust that we were treated with. Upon arrival we did not get seated or asked how many we were completely ignored and there was a server named Kathy that made comments directed toward a my aunt upon her weight and it was constant and excessive with looks towards my aunt every time she ignored me when I asked to be seated and said she was busy as she picked up one plate from a table. My aunt has a journey and story and that doesn't deserve to be judged by anyone. The amount of disrespect and to see the difference in treatment as others entered and were seated. It feels really horrible to now not want to go out , my aunt refuses to be at a restaurant over this traumatic experience. I bless the server and hope she is ok in her personal life because to be so bitter, rude, judgmental, disrespectful, and horrible customer service takes a certain kind of evil person. I will never return here and the trauma is carrying on without the establishment taking responsibility for its workers and staff. I will be taking this up with the owner of the establishment. I'm sorry if anyone else has experiences such treatment. read more

Okay, Domenick's doesn't get Michelin stars but my rating is for the reliable homemade Italian food and a warm welcome. On weekends, try the chicken dinner. We shared the chicken dinner (1/2 chicken) that comes with pasta and salad. They even make their own Italian dressing. My other favorites are the pork chops Italian-style topped with a sautéed onion, mushrooms and lots of garlic, or their delicious pizza and rigatoni with a sausage and peppers sauce. My friend has been coming here as long as he can remember and loves the Italian sub. So we went today and although the sandwich was good it wasn't great. It lacked oil and vinegar. So I asked for more and they don't really use vinegar. He gave me their Italian dressing. Well it wasn't the same so I'm not convinced. We also wanted to try their pizza since some of the reviews we iffy on that. I ordered a personal size one with pepperoni, Italian sausage (was crumbled not chunky like I like it), black olives and mushrooms. You need to order it well done and it happened to be thin crust so that was nice. It wasn't great but it was okay. The sauce lacked flavor. I'm not talking about more salt on just more seasoning flavoring but thats just me. We also got cheese bread. I would say the bread is the best thing there. Also the potato salad was good but they don't even make it there go figure!! But the best best thing there was Adrian our server. Hands down made the food taste better. This place has been a Carson staple for at least 48 years. That's because I found out our server Barbara, has been there for 48 years! My colleagues remember her from the late 70's, but that was only 33 years ago. You can get good, hearty, and relatively cheap Italian eats here. This pizza house has been a staple in Carson for well over 40 years. Growing up we would come here on Friday nights. Sadly, I walked in on a Tuesday around 4pm, we were the only customers. Our server (older female) was AWEFUL! she was rude, was throwing our glasses and utensils at us, and seemed irritated every time we asked for something. After waiting for 30 min, our food arrived cold! yes cold, the guy in the back who I think was the cook delivered our food. Im guessing he brought it out because Ms. Personality was too busy chatting with the other customer that came in after us. Now onto the food, its definitely not the quality of food it use to be. I've lived in Carson on and off for 30 years, and never been there...So i went to check it out.... The portions are HUUUUGE, the taste is ok, not great. I ordered an 11 dollar Calzone, It's big enough to feed four people, Im a big mofo, and I was able to finish about a 1/4 of the thing. It's not bad, but not really good. The crust was nice and light, and flaky, the ingredients ok, but not great. Better than something you could get at a dominos or whatever, but not as good as I would have liked. The people I went with had lasagna and spaghetti, and their portions were equally huge...they reported the food was ok, but not great. The place probably looks the same as the day it opened in 1956...They really need Chef Ramsey from Hell's kitchen to go in there and tune the place up. read more

The food can be hit and miss. Its usually pretty damn good but the last few time ive gone, its been underwhelming. It doesnt help the situation when the older waitress, barbara I think is her name, is serving you. She can be and usually is really rude unless you been going to eat there since 1955. The last time we went, my daughter ordered chicken alfredo and the alfredo sauce tasted like country gravy. Came here for lunch with my co workers we first intended to go to Rosario's but decided here. The place was packed. Ordered off the lunch menu and got the meat ravioli it came with salad and garlic bread everything was good for salads they drowned it with dressing. Which was not good at all. The garlic bread was good though. My only gripe is the older lady who sat us down and took our order was not friendly at all no smiles or anything. We asked questions on the menu she just pointed and that is what you get. Not sure if i'll be back to this place maybe if i have the craving for ravioli. read more

There are a number of places that have rude horrible service. Yet we still go there. Oh, you ask why? One of the best, non-chain family Italian restaurants ever. Funny thing is, I've never even had their pizza (although I've heard it's pretty good). Order their lemon and herb chicken dinner, and you'll be set! It's so HUGE, you'll be able to split it between two people. They like to douse their salad with their amazing house dressing. My salad bowl had a little lake in it once I devoured all the lettuce leaves, but you can ask for the dressing on the side if you prefer your salad to not be THAT wet. Whether it is on the good side of the tracks or the bad side of the tracks on Avalon Boulevard has changed more than once in the 45 years that my family has been patronizing the family-owned pizzeria. I won't ever forget a childhood spent drinking root beer out of their red plastic cups while playing "Billy Don't be a Hero" on the jukebox. In the early days, the rotund and effusive Domenick would greet each table with warmness and enthusiasm. The original Domenick is long gone now, as are the first two sons. The third son, Domenick Jr., is now running the place himself. The smiles and hugs are still there, but no one forgets Domenick Sr., whose jolly likeness dominates the wall. Over all of these years, Domenick's has retained its old school pizza house vibe, the same recipes, and the same menu, with cringe-worthy sandwich titles like "the Mussolini" and "The Dago Burger". The sandwiches at Domenick's are stunning, especially the Italian sub, made with mortadella, provolone and salami. The crust of the warmed bread crackles with each bite until it gives way to the soft, supple interior and fatty fillings. The meatball sandwich is enough for two people, with giant meatballs and a tangy red sauce causing you to take bites that are too big to be good for you. The burgers are served as a hoagie-shaped patty on the same Italian bread. If you are tired of nouvelle regional Italian restaurants and pine for the old-fashioned red-sauce joints, Domenick's is your place. You can still order a variety of mix and match old-fashioned pastas that will make you nostalgic for the old days. The ravioli are perfectly cooked, and spaghetti with red sauce is offered as a side dish. Domenick's pizza toppings are spot-on, with thickly sliced pepperoni cooked until it is crispy. I have had pizza from here when we catered it from work for 10 years, but have never actually ordered here myself until this year. Man, is this place amazing! Small mom and pop place (run by mamma) with big portions and even bigger flavor. Its the only local Italian eatery I know of in the area that is not a corporate chain. They have unusual methods like packing their salad to go in a Chinese food container that actually fits twice the salad and seems to keep it fresher (I can never eat the full portion so I save the salad for the next day). They have a delicious Tuna pizza which I had never heard of and ordered one on a dare. Its my favorite now... I don't understand the negative reviews. Maybe those people need a sense of humor, but if you are looking for good down to earth home made Italian food this is the place for you. I have no idea what the exact menu names were, but I think we had pepperoni pizza and their house salad. I'm not much of a pizza person, but I do know that this place is known for their pizza. It was pretty good according to my books, but again, not a pizza person. Their salad, however, that's a different story. It was definitely full of garlic flavor with ham, lettuce, and cheese. But the most memorable thing from the salad: GARLIC. I love garlic, so it's not a problem for me, but they do put in so much garlic that it's AMAZING. Love it. Most people that eat here either love it or hate it. I find it tolerable, we eat lunch there every so often. It is your typical mom & pops joint. Outdated interior, exterior - like stepping back in time. Years of grease on the inside and years of tar on the roof. The food is okay. I'd recommend the pizza, steak sandwich, godfather sandwich are all good. Pasta is so-so, their sauce is not to my liking. Portions are plentiful. the kind of place where if you order a salad, you get a giant bowl of lettuce with a giant bowl of dressing. The one thing that may put people off is the service. On the surface, it borders on being rude. It's a no nonsense approach. My co-workers and I have affectionately dubbed the lady that runs the joint the "Italian Nazi" (as in Soup Nazi from Seinfeld). She is an acquired taste. You sort of get used to it and then the more you come in, the more she recognizes you, the friendlier she gets. Don't dilly dally when you order though, just get your order out and move along or . . . No Soup For You!!! If you are picky about your food, don't go there. They do have their local clicks there, many times open tables will be "reserved" for the local guys wearing blue jump suits (BP refinery workers I think). Now for the food. EXCELLENT! The salad with their house dressing is a must have. How they can make a simple salad of romaine lettuce and red cabbage taste so good is just the beginning. The pizza is fantastic and for lighter appetites, they offer a personal size pizza which is not on the menu. Another great dish is their baked Italian chicken served with a lemon/herb/garlic sauce which is to die for. Ask for a side of the lemon sauce, as you will want to dip every bite of chicken into it! Pretty Good Stuff. It has that good old fashioned pizza joint ambiance. Candles on the table, brick & wood paneling and the prerequisite red vinyl booths. The staff was friendly and pretty attentive, coming around for refills and the like frequently. We ordered the Dominick's specialty pizza. it was basically the loaded (supreme) pizza. The crust was a good thin crust and not greasy. the toppings were pretty typical and it was not oversauced. The toppings were piled on almost too much (never thought i'd say that) It made it a bit hard to eat, had to use a fork. normally thin crust you can just roll up and stuff in but this was more like pan style toppings on thin crust.
