One of the top 20 best pizzas in CT? Nope even better!! Well worth the 35 minute drive for us! Crispy crust but not super thin, although very delicious. The 4 cheese was heavy, but so good!! We've come to this location many times and the pizza Is fabulous BUT last night while Dining In the restaurant our Pizza arrived Warm not hot (it was not a busy night) and we called the waitress Over Because we thought they forgot a topping and she said "no there's one" right there, pointing at the pizza. We ordered a large pepperoni & a large sausage & mushroom pizza for take out. When I picked up the pizzas they were already wrapped & stapled closed inside a paper bag. The sausage pizza was fine but the pepperoni pizza was burnt like I've never seen before. Not only was the meat burnt but the entire crust was charred. My husband called & instead of apologizing the manager argued that it looked burnt because of the type of pepperoni they used. The manager finally agreed to issue a refund on our Visa but never apologized. Just to show the poor quality of the pizza my husband returned the pie & left. We ordered a pepperoni pizza from Spartans next door. Which by the way was perfectly cooked. This is our go to pizza spot in Southington. There is a long wait time for takeout so definitely keep that in mind that it takes about an hour to get your order. The pizza tastes great and the ingredients are fresh. We also like dining in sometimes. It's a casual dining setting with lots of seating. Highly recommend. read more

I understand why D & V only has 3.7 stars on Yelp. The pizza can just be so hit or miss. Sometimes it's more thin than other times. Sometimes it's more well done than other times. And what GOOD pizza is square cut? I'd expect this at Dominos and even they pie cut their pizza. And the super pathetic thing is that even when you ask for it pie cut - they screw that up most of the time. What happened to customer service?? Unfortunately - the pizza is AMAZING when it's great which keeps us coming back. Don't expect pie cut even if you ask for it. The ambiance and service leave a lot to be desired. Lucky for them - we've been getting their pizza for more than 30 years so we know what to expect. Dom&Vin have 5 deck ovens... all have patina from time and wear... credo there... Staff is amazing (Southington).... Pizza is in the top 3 for Southington. I always order pick up because I like their hot lips pizza which is amazing , the perfect blend between sweet and spicy . Today I decided to dine in , but to my surprised I was disappointed. The service was negligent towards my table . I only say this because the tables infront of me received such a nicer treatment. I ordered 2 beers and a medium pizza and yes I forgot to order water at the beginning, but I expected to get my servers attention when she was around but not once she looked at my table. Easy parking at this unassuming restaurant. Upon entering inside, the seating is very dated. Restrooms were clean. Square pizza, great presentation on one of those raised platform things. This used to be my go to for pizza and classified as one of the best or top five in Central Connecticut, and a top 10 in all of Connecticut What happened? My last two visits, the pizza was just OK. We've been to Dominic and Vinnies pizza many years ago at a different location, and found it to be good. Since we were in the area we decided to try it once again to bring home. We ordered a large cheese pizza. This is more like an extra large. It is square instead of round, and is 20 inches cut into 16 square slices. The crust is very thin, topped with plenty of cheese, and was cooked to perfection. Very good pizza.This is the only pizza restaurant I know of that puts it in a bag, not a box. Not that it's a bad thing just different. On a very busy Friday night it was ready at the exact time they quoted us. Will definitely be returning. read more

So I have been going to Vinny's pizza in Southington for over 10 years. I love their pepperoni pizza. It is my favorite. But today I wanted to order my favorite but could not overlook the rudeness when I called. It is their normal practice to answer the phone when they are busy with. ".Dominic's and Vinny's please hold" And before you can say a word you are on hold. I spoke to the manager and told him how rude I felt it was. I suggested that they just answer the phone something like this. "Dominic and Vinny's pizza. Would you please hole." Wait for a response and the. Put the customer on hold. It only takes a few more seconds and much more Professional and respectful. They lost my order tonight and if I call back and get the same response they will lose my business each and every time. Today I am going to Angela's pizza. It is closer to my house and they are super polite and friendly and make great pizza. The manger just wanted to give me excuses as to why it was okay. No thanks. In this case i am taking my money elsewhere. Based on the mangers attitude, it does not seem like he cares. I will try again in the future and hope I get treated better. I have had this pizza now a few times. My orders of pizza have been to go so I can't really give much info on sit down service. The restaurant inside looks very 80s and in need of a remodel. Oddly it kinda fits the location/area of Meriden/Waterbury Turnpike. Seen better days for sure. Pizza always has been ready when I go in to pick up, so they are on time. They serve the pizza in a bag rather than a box which is different (more of an old school style). The pizza does stay pretty hot so that's good. The pizza itself is pretty decent. It's seems like the issue with this place is consistency with the pizza. I have had some really good pies and some average ones with a bit of an aftertaste I can't put my finger on. They typically cut medium/large into squares even though it's more Italian tasting than Greek. Kinda thicker I'd say. The small pizza is normal triangle slices... a bit larger than most small pizzas so it's def worth the price. I would say you can do better but at same time you can do way worse than this place. This is the best pizza spot in Southington for sure, and probably in the top 10 pizza places in CT depending on who you ask. It's a thin crust pizza, similar to the New York and New Haven styles that dominate the scene here but it has its own local twist. The Southington Domenic's and Vinnie's has a new modernized sign up outside their establishment. This indicates to me that they are here are here to stay. According to the new sign they have been around since 1949 (although not at this particular location). I applaud this. Pizza--so many kinds and variations--so many choices--particularly in this area, which I am extremely grateful for. Like the changing tides, moon phases, moods--each day is different. I have seen lots of reviews comparing this to New Haven style and other pizzas. This is not that. So when the mood strikes you--get this pizza. I have only had take out but know that this place is ALWAYS busy and has limited hours. I love their sausage and pepper pizza--eggplant is great. Love that pizza is cut up in squares and not put in a box. Locals love this place and are very loyal. It's a great option. We stopped in for pizza after bowling no one in the restaurant but us. We ordered are server was wonderful are pizza was brought to our table was hot and tasted great til we got to the piece with the hair in it. We asked a server to come over told her about it she offered a few different options to take care of the problem we decided to go with a new pizza no hair she said great to it took it to the kitchen and the cook(manager) that's back there was loud rude with his response. This week we got two different small pizzas. Clams casino and sausage and pepper. My clams casino was good but the sausage and pepper tasted totally different from last week. My expectations for D &V's is typically high, so for me to write this review, I had to be disappointed. My wife ordered a simple pizza, the Margarita (with sausage).We picked up the pizza, opened it (of course) and noticed that their was little to no cheese on the pizza (less then expected) also, and most important, it was bland. There was no (I mean nooooo) taste to the pizza. The sauce had no taste to it, the dough (the most important ingredient) was firm (how I like it), but tasted like nothing. Where is the freshness, fresh basil, tomato and mozzarella? We all wondered if we had Covid. Obviously, we don't , sooooo , yeah. Let's hope that next time, we can get a better quality pizza. read more

what is this place called? the sign on the road and building say "Domenic's and Vinnie's" .. some of the others just says "Vinnie's Pizza" .. i guess that doesn't really matter though. Ok .. a co-worker that lives near vinnies has hyped this place up for years and never mentioned the pizza is thin and square or came in paper bags. their hours are pretty non-standard too - 3:30 PM TIL CLOSE.. I tried to go here a few times for lunch, but no luck unless i took a really late lunch. It's too bad because I would eat this pizza often if they were open for lunch. I ordered my large cheese pie ($17, not too pricey but not cheap) .. and waited 15 minutes for it to get cooked. While i waited a lot of orders came in on the phone and lots of people picked up their pizzas. By the time i was leaving the time for a pizza was 45 mins. - they are popular at vinnie's. as i mentioned - they don't use those bulky cardboard boxes like every other pizzeria - they give it to you in a big brown paper bag. my pizza was pretty good, not the best i have ever had and i do know i need to go back and eat in the restaurant - taking it to go in a brown paper bag probably made it a little less awesome. the crust was good, crisp, not too thick and stood up to reheating without turning to a rock the next day. the sauce was a little on the tomato pastey side with an interesting after-kick and an initial sweetness, not very typical. the cheese was a nice chewyness, lots of dense cheese coverage on the pie. overall, ordering take out with a 20+ min drive and the pie was A-OK, and next time this will probably be a 4 or 5 star pie in-house. they take charge cards, and they dont have a website. read more

I read this was good pizza, so we had to try it. Kitchen is huge. I never saw so many pizza ovens in one place. Ordered a medium cheese pie. It was ok. Some folks think it is great, but when compared to other outstanding pizza in Southington, i don't think it compares. E pizza, Nonnas, Southtown are all much better. Last night I was given a suggestion for another pizza place to compare to Pepe's. Challenge accepted ... This place has only pizza and drinks on the menu. You have to appreciate a restaurants singular focus on one thing. On the menu they did have some interesting fare ... including a mashed potato pizza. It only seemed like I was at Cheers, where everybody knows your name. Everybody around me seem to know each other or the chef or the waitresses. I heard several times, see you next week. This is also one of those places were they have limited hours/days of operation. I had been by this place twice and they were not open. All that being said, I went for the standard combo pizza (pepporini, sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms). I ordered a medium thinking a small would likely not do. The medium pizza was food for 4 grown men (who love to eat). I am ashamed to say I could not even muster up the strength to eat half of this thing. The pizza itself was good. They mention that the way the cook it, the crust can get burnt and that is ok. I am all for the crunchy crust but burnt is burnt and burnt is not good. The cons: no delivery, no traditional pizza boxes which makes it challenging when carrying multiple things and definitely more risky, very acidic - I am not sure if it was the grease or the sauce, but I rarely get acid reflux and a few slices of pepperoni pizza made for a terrible night. The pros: they use fresh pepperoni, pizza is cut in squares which I personally really enjoy, the paper bags for the pizza- while it was an adjustment it's easier cleanup, overall nicely cooked thin crust pizza. As this isn't my "regular", local pizza joint, I wouldn't necessarily get from here again. However, I also wouldn't avoid it at all costs. It was tasty while eating it and I would try a different pizza as perhaps it was the pepperoni and grease that caused my agita (Ive eaten quite a fair share or pepperoni pizza and never got agita from it tho)... read more
