This place is a national treasure. I have been going there forever and it's a treat every time. The best of the best. In the top 0.001% in all of greater Boston. I had the chicken parm , which was wonderful, just like always. The bread here is the rock they build their sandwiches on.Its crusty enough to stand up to extra sauce. Dominic's is the fire!!!!!!!!!! I ordered Doms Special and it was amazing. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. And I'd be willing to bet that everything else on the menu is as good as Dom's Special. Went inside this place after looking at their yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. They had samples available when I visited the restaurant, I tried the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was also amazing! The staff was extremely helpful and sweet also. Omg their eggplants parmigiana!!! My coworker ordered lunch from domenic's today. They suggested me to try their eggplants parmigiana. I was a little sceptic to try because ( born and raise in Italy) I am a "little particular" with my Italian food! I am glad that I tried because the eggplants were so good!!! Well stay-at-home time seems like it's going to be over pretty soon so I'm taking this time to try out some takeout places in my neighborhood that I know I wouldn't usually try. Today I was in the mood for a really good sandwich and whenever I drive past Domenic's it's always really full. After looking at the reviews I decided to pick up one of Dom's Special paninis. I ordered through the Yelp app and the order was ready long before the estimated pick up time. The sandwich was really yummy. You could tell the bread was fresh and there was just enough meat. Ordered a "Ribeye Steak 11.99 Hand-cut Creekstone Farms angus prime rib cooked to order in cast iron skillet topped with verde salad (or top how you like)". What I got: literally, a piece of meat in a piece of bread. (See pic) Where's the "verde salad" that it's supposed to be topped with? And why does the meat not cover the whole sandwich? A local gem! A huge selection in sandwiches, hot paninis, pizza, pasta -- all of which looked and smelled delicious. When my friend brought me here, I thought it was a going to be a diner. Instead it was a tiny shop with only a couple bar seats along the window. I ordered the hot lamb sandwich and she got a tuna fish sandwich. The bread had a good crunch. The lamb was thinly sliced and very moist. The lady behind the counter recommended either the lamb or the bomba. So I need to come back and try the bomba sandwich as well. How is Dom's so highly rated? I drive by there weekly heading to Market Basket in Waltham. I had to give them a try... Went twice in the past week and underwhelmed on each occasion. First time was dying to try the popular chicken parm panini. The bread which they are famous for was not fresh and had no taste to speak of (probably because it lacked salt). The filling was a mess of chicken, sauce, and cheese, nothing special. The sandwich was brought down mainly by the flavorless ciabatta bread. Wanted to try Dom's again figuring they had an off day on the first visit. This time looking forward to the Classic Italian that many rave about here. This time the ciabatta was fresh and crispy with plenty of flavor. So off to a good start... I popped the top off to see how this classic is made: mortadella, salami, and provolone. There was one slice of each and some lettuce, onion and tomato. Skimpiest Italian sandwich I've had in a long. Most non-Italian sub shops can do a better Italian than this one. Even Market Basket has an Italian sub with 3 times the cold cuts at half the price. I am guessing this may be another one off and the guy making the sandwich wasn't trained properly. I have a love-hate relationship with Dom's. I love them for their bomb-ass sandwiches, but hate them because I'm trying to "be healthier" and whenever a coworker asks, "Wanna get Dom's?", I respond, "HELL YEAH" and my diet goes out the window. My go-to's are the Sopressa and the Parma. Although I go back and forth, I think the Sopressa is the favorite. It's loaded with yummy salami and topped with hots (cherry peppers) - man I love me some hots. It also has argula - so I tell myself it's healthy. The line goes fast and they tempt you at the end with a giant arancini ball staring you in the face (it's freakin delicious). You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Except maybe a salad. How difficult is it to warm up a slice of pizza for a customer? Domenic's - a Waltham staple. 3 years ago, when I first moved to the great ~Watch City~ to further my education and become more worldly (I hail from a full 45 minutes away), I quickly found myself adapting to my new life and surroundings. My University's arms of community enveloped me in a tight embrace of new friends, knowledge, and... A HANKERING FOR ITALIAN CUISINE. Haha, know what I mean? I tried out all the spots: Sabatino's, etc. etc. Actually, I only tried Sabatino's, but it was good. The thought of their pasta dishes still gives my stomach a mildly sensual pleasure. But on3 thing always eluded me, was always missing - I could feel it gnawing at the back of my thoughts during the day, hear it whispering in my ear as I was gently lulled to sleep by the sounds of campus tomfoolery at night: I was missing a truly great Italian style sandwich. (I just mean something with red sauce, not like a cold cut sandwich. Ok? Yeezh) I heard about Domenic's from the internet. The internet raised me, I am simply a product of sperm, egg, and wi-fi connection to be frank (I'm not Frank, I'm Brian - haha, right?). Always a yelper at heart (though I didn't start penning my own critiques until recently ;) I saw that many of the "locals" had rated Domenic's very highly. Let me tell you, the loyal residents of Waltham did not disappoint. It was a b*tch to get my hands on some Dom's though. I "dining-hall-it" every day during the week, but sometimes on the weekends I want to give myself a little treat, you know? Maybe crack open a cold one with the boys and sit back with two hands full of bread, chicken, red sauce, and cheese. Domenic's unfortunately, is closed on Sundays, and only open until 4pm on Saturdays. But to be certain, I would drive to Dom's at 6am in the morning if I had known then what I know now. After about 4 failed attempts to obtain Domenic's (once post 7:30 on a weekday, once on a Sunday, once after 4 on a Saturday, and once during an admittedly awful snowstorm), I had almost lost hope, but on one fateful day I prevailed. I would be lying to you if I said I knew the specific day of the week or date (I am not really one for detail). The food is great. 10/10. read more

Once again you run across an establishment that is more on the 4.5 level than the 4, but not quite at the 5 spot. I wish Yelp would let me do the half ratings, but I am going to have to go with a 4-star for this spot (really a 4.5). Dom's is somewhat a hole-in-the-wall spot in Waltham and most of the people who work in Waltham or live there, know Dom's very well. They have some of the best eggplant parm I have ever had. I went here to show Kelsey what this spot is all about, and I was not disappointed. It's not really a sit down spot, although they do have some tables outside and some high tops against the windows on the inside. It's a hot bar, sandwich bar, and a bakery all in one. The bread is made fresh in house and you can taste the homemade quality to it. It's a floury bread that I've had been very soft or very hard. If it was always soft, that would be ideal because sometimes it gets a little hard and rips the roof of your mouth all up. We had the Italian and the meatball sub. I'm a little bit of an Italian sandwich aficionado and this was a 7.5/10 for an Italian. The hots spread offers more of a kick than most Italian's, but I like that. I wish there was a little more meat to it, but overall it was delicious. The meatball was messy to eat and could have been better with less sauce, but the meatballs are delicious. The texture is perfect. They seem like they really grind all the ingredients together to have an almost velvet feel to the inside of the meatball. I could eat nearly everything on this menu. They also had some arancini samples to try and those were possible the best arancini that have ever grazed upon my stomach. read more

On this occasion, I got some takeout for lunch. The pickup process was easy, the staff was friendly, and the storefront seemed organized and clean, but ultimately I was disappointed on my first visit to Domenic's. I ordered the Nastro Azzuri Panini. The bread was good, the chicken well-breaded, and the truffle aioli didn't completely overpower the flavor of the sandwich like that flavor can. Unfortunately, the chicken cutlet was room temp despite me picking it up at the "ready" time, and driving less than five minutes back to work. It was also completely missing the prosciutto, which is kind of the marquee ingredient, and likely why it costs $14. It was also on the small side for this price compared to similar establishments in the Boston area. 2.2/5. Seems to be a smooth operation with good lunch options, and maybe I just caught them on a day off. But paying a premium price for a cold sandwich that is missing one of the most important ingredients is pretty disappointing, and seems to be a recent trend. read more
