A very fun spot to check out for chicken fingers. There are times where you would have to wait around 45 minutes before your order is ready, due to lunch-hour-rush. It is good to call-in your order for pick-up. If you do decide to walk-in and wait-in line, it can move fairly fast. There is always a server ready to take orders for chicken fingers only, so you can skip the line for people who want sandwiches and other food item on their menu. Fried chicken fingers and grilled chicken breast are my go-to item at Dominick's Deli aka Dom's Deli. For $10.99 per pound, you can divide that up, and get 1/2 pound chicken fingers and 1/2 pound grilled chicken breast (approx. 3 slices). Most importantly, the creamy and addicting honey mustard that comes with it, is the secret to making all chicken taste better. Sandwiches here are also good. Made with simplicity so it can hit the spot more quicker. I have tried a couple of sandwiches from here before and they are all generously stuffed for around $11. I was on Facebook, and people were talking about their favorite, Deli's, on Long Island, and as soon as somebody mentioned, Dominic's I noticed all the "likes" & "loves",, So I Obviously had to go check out the hike, and yes, it lived up to expectations, they do have the best chicken fingers on Long Island, You're so famous for it and requested that they have a special line just for orders and pick ups, full service deli sandwiches are huge portions. Everything was delicious very creative. All the sandwiches were wonderful Tasty I even met one of the owners Nick and he was very nice very polite, friendly treats, everyone nicely, we've been in business since 1995. They ranged from $11.95 + tax to $16 - ORDER THE GIO SPECIAL $14.50. The fig jam is my absolute favorite. I also really like the Nicky Boy $11.95 because the pesto is perfect and not over powering. I came at 4:30 on a Tuesday and was given a taste of the chicken fingers (was delicious!!) so I ordered a pound of chicken fingers costing 12.50 which fed my wife and myself for two meals and was delicious!! I've been coming here since my family moved out here over 25 years ago last year I stopped going to this place because the pricing is just gotten ridiculous I get it prices go up, but this place is taking it to another level a pound of turkey being $17.99 is bonkers than during charging percentages for me to use a credit card or a debit card now a sandwich is probably pushing close to $13 or possibly more depending on what you get and when you got a sandwich, they used to give you a little Dixie cup of potato salad, macaroni, salad, or coleslaw, which was cool then it became just a specialty sandwiches then they just got rid of it completely ever since the pandemic the prices have gone up dramatically in the past five years the customer service could be better. The food is great. Things have just gotten so stingy with this place that I will not come back. Have been meaning to try this deli out but the pandemic delayed us, until recently! The deli is spacious with a wide spread of choices to select from. The cult of personality around Dom's in the Mineola/Williston Park neighborhood is the only thing that keeps this place afloat. Here's what happened when I went into their store today: - I walk into a mostly empty Dom's and place my order for two sandwiches... and had to repeat myself 4 times to the deli worker because he kept forgetting what was supposed to go on what (more on that later)... - I stepped to the side to wait (ultimately it was 20 minutes), and when I did so, the manager - who was already screaming at an employee while on the phone taking a catering order - yelled at me that I was standing in the wrong place... - A senior woman comes in and proceeds to try to order their famous chicken fingers at a window that used to only sell those items. The same manager started berating HER for standing in the wrong place... - I receive my 2 sandwiches 20 MINUTES LATER and try to pay but I'm told that the line I'm in is only for advanced orders. I go to the other cashier who then leaves to go help the line I just got off of... which is now allowing anyone to pay. So I switch back and now get behind the long line of people who came in after me and received their sandwiches earlier than I did. - I drive home and discover that my Gio Special sandwich (Breaded Chicken Cutlet, Burrata, Fig Jam, Prosciutto, and Roasted Peppers on a Toasted Garlic Hero) is missing half of the ingredients. I wish I could say this is an outlier experience, but every time I walk into this place is an adventure that usually ends up provide some sort of story to share. Yes - the chicken fingers are fantastic, but you can get the SAME RESULT at home by marinating your chicken in Heinz honey mustard and some sugar (that's literally it, people). They do not make it worth it to deal with the disorganization and open hostility they treat their customers... but the lack of better options in the area keeps this place enshrined in the minds of the community. This is all without mentioning their catering, which my in-laws frequently order for get together's, and which has NEVER been ready on time, NEVER been correct, or been paid for without being told that the issues with our orders were OUR OWN fault... by the same screaming manager, no less! Do yourself a favor and stop in to get their chicken fingers and don't forget the honey mustard! I've had them many times but recently got a tray of them to bring on a weekend getaway and they actually reheat pretty well and still taste amazing. For a half tray of chicken i called ahead to see if I needed to place an order but they told me to just go in at anytime and they were able to fill it right away. The only downside is the lunch hour rush will have you waiting a little while at the deli counter but the line moves fairly quickly, there are a lot of people behind the counter to take/make your orders and there is a separate person to take just chicken finger orders (yes, they're THAT good that they have a separate line just for chicken fingers). Was excited to try these famous chicken fingers everyone raves about, but sadly, they didn't live up to the hype. There's a tinge of sweetness in the breading, but otherwise no other seasoning or flavor. Nice chunks of chicken and the honey mustard is good, but overall, they're just a decent chicken tender. Maybe better fresh? Got them takeout and ate them nearly 40 minutes after pickup. Their sandwiches were really good. Chicken parm hero was solid. The Italian was excellent. Better than many I've tried. The eggplant and roast red peppers added great flavor. The Caesar salad is just a side salad with Caesar dressing packet. Pass on that. This is what I love most about Dominicks, they have something for everyone. They are also doing amazing during the pandemic offering curbside pick up and you can order over the phone. They also do catering, which I have used several times, never disappoint, always great including their heroes. Dominick is the owner and he takes pride in his business serving the community. The deli is on tucked away on Herricks Road and I happened to pass it on Super Bowl Sunday and there was line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot. A lot of hype. I went here for the chicken fingers which are "world famous" but i found them to be under whelming. I can't think of why a chicken finger should be sweet. I got a tray but even the people i was feeding didn't seem too keen on it. Rice balls were very tasty however and the red sauce is well balanced. At $8.99/lb, these Chicken Fingers are worth every penny and will keep you wanting to come back for more. Dom's Chicken Fingers has been a personal neighborhood favorite of mine since High School. I've had friends who have tried their subs and other menu items which I've heard nothing but great things about--whatever the order may be--but I will ALWAYS go to the Chicken as a go-to order. There's just something about that breading and oh, especially that Honey Mustard, that never gets sickening or tiring. I've brought friends from out-of-state back to try these Chicken Fingers, and even they were blown away. You'll never go wrong with an order of these. If you're wondering how the sizing goes for the single-serve orders, the Chicken is served in those plastic Chinese-take-out-style containers. 1/4 lb. fits that small sauce container you would get from Chinese take-out places (~2 in. tall). 1/2 lb. of chicken fits the 16 oz. container, and 1 lb. of chicken fits the tall 32 oz. container. Best Deli in New Hyde Park area, and right around the corner from my good friends house, we walked here during halftime of the giants game. The market is filled with everything you need. Drinks, Snacks, An Amazing Deli, Ice Cream, Meats, Cheeses etc etc. Place is legendary, I grew up coming here for sandwiches during high school. The fan favorite is the chicken fingers, they are out of this world, probably the best ones I've had in a long time. And remember to get the dips, they got all the sauces.
