For seventeen years, I have been the self-appointed Sultan of Slices, driving my son to every reputable pizza joint in the area and essentially telling him what "good" tasted like.  It was a hard job, but somebody had to do it, may as well be his Dad right? But apparently, the student has become the master. My son hit up Jet's Pizza in McKinney yesterday and came home claiming he'd had "the best pizza of his life." Now, at 17, his opinions are legally his own, but as the man who funded his palate for nearly two decades, I had to put this bold claim to the test. If he was wrong, I'd have to revoke his "pizza-picking privileges" indefinitely. I walked in and ordered the Super Special: a heavy-duty combination of pizza sauce, premium mozzarella, pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. The Verdict: I hate to admit it, mostly because it means my son is actually growing up and making sound life choices, but the kid was right. The crust had that perfect crisp-yet-airy texture that makes you forget about your fitness goals entirely. The toppings were delicious, the cheese didn't mess around, and the combination of ham and pepperoni on the Super Special provided a salt-to-sauce ratio that is frankly dangerous for anyone with a lack of self-control. It was very, very good. In fact, it was "I'm-not-even-mad-that-my-teenager-is-smarter-than-me" good.  I may have to get this kid a YELP account!! To Jet's Pizza, thanks for the great meal. I know kitchens get busy and stuff happens, but a chunk of metal in the box with the food we're about to eat is not something I can just laugh off. That's a safety issue. Yes, it's a little pricier than you might expect, but you can absolutely taste the difference and you can tell they use quality ingredients. We ordered two minis, a small specialty pizza, loaded fries, and the cinnamon dessert pizza. Everything was excellent! Growing up in Buffalo, NY, I was sold the moment I noticed they use the kind of pepperoni I grew up with back home. Joe and AZ came out to check on us, asked for feedback, and were genuinely great. That kind of hospitality is rare and it really made the experience. We live close by and can't wait to come back during the week for the pizza buffet and we'll definitely be ordering from here regularly. We look forward trying other items on the menu!

I was also puzzled by how many small slices the pizza was cut into, which made for an odd presentation. The wings were equally underwhelming. They reminded me of frozen, pre-cooked wings from the grocery store that had simply been reheated in an oven. Having lived here for four years after moving from New York, I've tried a lot of local pizza places. This was, without question, one of the most disappointing pizza experiences I've had.

So I can't speak on any other options other than the price of the pizzas. We wanted to love this place soo much. We ordered the Plant Based Chicken Tikka Pizza and the Combination Pizza. Be cautious of the spice level for the Tikka Pizza. We had a level 2 or 3, but spice is all we tasted no other flavor components for the listed ingredients. The combination was a huge disappointment. It seems like the frozen toppings were just placed onto the pizza and put in the oven. I'm not sure if they should have been cooked a little first or thawed, but all toppings were soo dry and not tasty at all. He also mentioned they would get new menus with updated pricing and make sure their prices are reflected on every site. For the sake of customer retention and transparency I hope he did this.
