We were looking to try a new sushi place and Domodachi came through! We ordered take out, but the staff was so friendly they all gave us big smiles and thanked us for ordering (even the chefs). The spicy tuna roll was amazing and the salmon avocado roll was to DIEEE for. The quality of the sushi was outstanding and you could taste the freshness. 10/10 would definitely recommend this place. I'll be ordered again soon!

Pretty disappointed with this place. The special rolls were good (the crazy salmon was the best thing I ate, fuji mountain was so so). The sashimi and sushi were not good. The fish was too fishy and didn't taste very fresh and we couldn't even finish the platter. Sad because the service was very good :/

Delicious and creative sushi! Loved every roll we tried, this is going to be another one of our favorites in the area. We tried the following specialty rolls: dynamite special, lobster popcorn tempura, wow shrimp tempura, crazy shrimp tempura. They were HUGE and full of flavor. Also tried the spicy scallop and spicy tuna crunchy regular rolls. The spicy mayo is actually spicy here. They gave us a complimentary side of edamame in soy sauce which was delicious served that way. We got delivery via seamless, which had a lot of extra fees, but worth it when you don't want to drive anywhere. Overall the prices of the actual food were not super inflated like others we have been to lately. Would like to dine in at some point too but so happy they deliver all the way to my house! They're also open on Monday when my local place is closed.

One of the best sushi places in the area! The sushi is extremely fresh and tastes amazing! They start the meal by serving soup and edamame on the house. We then got the special sushi for 2 to share. We were so full by the end of the meal that I practically had to crawl out of there!! The service is wonderful and people are very warm. It is byob and there is a liquor store right opposite to the restaurant for people like us who forget to bring a bottle of wine! Overall I'd definitely come here again and again because this is going down as one of my favorite sushi places!

Absolutely love the sushi here! The first time I ate here I underestimated the serving sizes. They definitely don't skimp out on the rolls! The restaurant itself has really great ambience with wooden decor. Staff is super nice and helpful, which makes the dining experience that much better. Seating is on the more limited side so I'd avoid large part sizes. I highly recommend the Fuji Mountain. It's piled high and jam packed with some great stuff! I really want to try some of the kitchen entrees next time because the sushi has been stellar both times we dined here!

This place is SO good. We got the Spicy Salmon Crunchy Avocado, Salmon Mango Avocado, and the Dynamite Roll (Special). All three rolls were amazing. Service was great. Portions were solid. 10/10 experience. My fav was the Spicy Salmon Avocado with crunchies on top and a side of spicy mayo. Definitely will be back

Had gone for lunch yesterday, and I have to say it was great. The sushi was fresh and I LOVED the edamame they served. So good, it's not just salted. Not sure which ones what sushi, but I have to say it was super filling and so good.

Solid sushi! I liked it! It tasted fresh, it was good and the precautions were pretty good when I came to pick up my takeout. We ordered the Sushi for 2 Deluxe and it came with a lot of sushi for $65! I thought it was a good price for what we got (Sushi Deluxe is 24 pieces of sushi, rainbow roll, dynamite roll and california roll). I thought that was a pretty good deal in itself but they also included some free edamame! Usually I'm pretty indifferent to those fuzzy green soy beans but these were yummy! They're seasoned differently than just with salt like how most places do it. Definitely try this place! (FYI- it's located in the old location of Nizi Sushi.)

DomoArigato, DomoDachi! When my Yelp Elite Bro and Sis asked what I was craving for dinner I said, "Whatever." That whatever turned out to be my favorite meal that week. We called ahead for takeout service. We ordered several different rolls, a bulgogi bento box, a chicken katsu bento box, and dumplings which came with miso soup and complimentary edamame. All the rolls were delicious with the flavorful sauces, the crispness of the crunch, the perfectly made sushi rice and the fresh tasting fish. Each bite was enjoyed thoroughly. The dumplings tasted homemade and not from a bag in the freezer section at the grocery. They were stuffed with goodness and did not need to be dipped in the sauce because they were packed with plenty of flavor. My picky, McNugget loving God-kids devoured their bento boxes. I was hoping they didn't want the shumai so I can eat them but alas they loved it and ate it all. Looking forward to visiting DomoDachi again!!

The last Saturday in May. We have ourselves another #YelpsBigNightIn on deck. I wasn't going to pass up the oppor-tuna-ty (warning: low-flying dad puns!) to try a newer sushi place a town over with a perfect 5-star rating here on Yelp. The prior residents at this location (Nizi Sushi) were (and still are) wildly overrated in my humble opinion. But the current occupants? Positively delectable. Immaculate looking rolls that were overflowing with flavor. (The aftertaste lingered a good hour after dinner and kept reminding me just how good their food was.) A bonus container of free (!) delicious (!) edamame was a nice surprise. My wallet wasn't too happy (almost $20 for their 'Japanese Hot Dog Roll'?!) but the food is firing on all cylinders. Cool staff. The restaurant looks great inside (even though take-out is the only option nowadays). There's plenty of sushi heavy-hitters within a ten mile radius and Domodachi has definitely broken into the Top 5.

I don't know how this place has so many five star reviews, but this is easily the most disappointing sashimi I've had in years. The quality of the fish was around supermarket sushi. It was just bland, flavorless, and for the sashimi assortment, I got mostly salmon, which is good, because I had to spit the tuna and the other fish out. The dark spot on the one piece of sashimi? That's a fish scale. There were a few other fish scales interspersed, so I don't think they were really keeping clean cutting boards while prepping the fish. I typically order from a different place, but they had a much longer wait time on UberEats and now I know why this one had a much shorter wait time. What a waste of money.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Everything was delicious and super filling! My boyfriend and I go here often for dinner and the food is superb and staff is so kind. All of their specialty rolls are great. The tempura is a little different but still delicious. FOOD I RECOMMEND: the seared salmon appetizer, soft shell crab tempura, the lobster roll, anything with seared crab on top, NOTE: It is a smaller restaurant, they don't seem to have a proper reservation system so it is first come first serve for tables. bigger groups may have to wait longer. BE PATIENT. Often times I see people come in and leave soon after because they can't wait- then 5 minutes later a table opens up. The staff is trying as hard as they can to seat you! Just be assertive but kind (remind the the woman and male host, how many are in your party). It's a small business, don't be rude! If you can't wait just order take out :)

I absolutely love this place, the workers there are always nice and make sure you are taken care of. One of the workers there she is a sweetheart and always places this orange sauce with wording on my plate. The rolls are beautifully made and the sizing is perfect. I definitely recommend this place to everyone, they have a lot of options to choose from and you won't be disappointed. read more

Nizi, who? Filling the shoes of the former Nizi Sushi location would seem pretty challenging, but Domidachi did just that and even more. Went here for an early lunch with my girlfriend and had the best service and amazingly fresh sushi. Was greeted cheerfully as soon as we came into the small restaurant on Union Avenue and we were seated immediately and had our bottle of wine opened within a couple minutes. Before we even ordered, our server brought us over an Edamame appetizer on the house. It was the most flavorful edamame I've ever had. I wish I knew what spices the chef used. After that, my girlfriend got miso soup, which didn't disappoint. We were then brought over the biggest plate of sushi I've seen. We had the sweet potato tempura roll, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, avocado and cucumber rolls. Even though we were bordering on not being able to breathe from being so stuffed, everything on the plate was finished. It was just too good to leave any leftovers. Highly recommended. You won't miss Nizi. read more

I recently found this place while I was in the area. I love the sashimi and the sushi there, it tastes really good. I definitely recommend coming here, the staff are really nice and even though the place is small, it is worth your time and money. I am really happy that there is another sushi spot that I can get tasty food from. This will definitely get into my list of places I will order from whenever I get the chance. read more

I have been waiting for Japanese sushi place ever since the previous restaurant had left. I saw finally this new restaurant opened. I tried lunch hour on Friday, which sadly the place was empty. However, Ms. Kathy welcomed me with a nice smile. I ordered Domodachi Lunch Box to go. They offered me a nice hot tea and crunchy salmon hand roll! That was delicious. The inside the restaurant looks brighter than previous one with a new wall color and nice tables/chairs. Lunch box was very nice and enjoyed it. Next day, I stopped by again around lunch hour and ordered Dragon Roll, EAT therford Roll and Crunchy Salmon Hand Roll to go. Ms. Kathy, Ms. Julie and Mr. Charlie the chef are all nice and friendly staff. My BF liked Dragon Roll and I enjoyed EAT therford Roll. Among all, Crunchy Salmon Hand Roll was our favorite! This restaurant is now opened on Sunday. (They are closed on Tuesday). I wish they are offering lunch box on Saturday though. I will recommend this new place! read more

Ordered from here to see if the spot that replaced the old Nizi could fill its shoes. Sadly, it did not. The staff was incredibly friendly - however the food we got was very subpar. Really no reason to go back with Nizi around the corner (even Yamada would be a better choice). read more

Very nice hole in the wall location for fresh fish. Super sweet family manning the tables and sushi counter together with a roll named after their daughter. Edamame was perfectly done, sushi fish (mackerel, tuna, and squid) was delicious, and excellent tempura. read more

Highly recommend their special rolls -- especially the Blue Bird and Honolulu rolls. They don't skimp on ingredients which I could definitely tell through their fresh sashimi. Their edamame is also really delicious - they use a special sauce to flavor it. It's better than the generic salted version every other restaurant offers. Would definitely come back! read more

Love this new local sushi spot in the neighborhood. We were never a fan of Nizi so this is a welcome change. Very fresh fish, nice sized rolls and nigiri sushi, large lunch box portions. Working our way through the menu and love everything so far, esp. salmon teriyaki roll, spicy salmon roll and the sushi appetizer. The edamame appetizer is also really good - sautéed in a delectable savory sauce. We will be regulars for sure. read more

I'm EXTREMELY picky when it comes to sushi. I typically judge any sushi place based off of my favorite roll. If I order my favorite roll and it tastes amazing, I assume everything else at the restaurant will taste amazing and will be the reason I come back. I've passed this sushi place on the way home countless times but never thought to try it and of course I was craving sushi today and came to yelp to read reviews. This place has had nothing but 5 star reviews so I had to try it. Ordered my favorite sushi roll (here it's called the Alexandrea's Roll) not only was it amazing- but it's 3$ cheaper than where I usually get it!! And I got free edamame. Nothing makes me happier than free food. Will definitely be coming back so that my boyfriend can try it and enjoy it with me! Yumm!! read more

Service was super nice. Fish was just ok. Avocado for all 3 of us was hard as rocks. Didn't have a lot of options. No fish belly, humming bird egg, no uni, asks for ponzu got something that wasn't ponzu. read more

10/10 the best sushi we have ever had. We usually order from Nizi and we are die hard fans of that place so that comment is not an understatement. We take sushi serious here. This place lacked in no department. The sizes of the rolls were huge! I had to take 2-3 bites of each piece, I couldn't fit the entire thing in my mouth. Flavor was amazing, fresh ingredients, you can tell it's made with love and care for satisfaction. But the best thing was by far the edamame. It was SO flavorful and ON THE HOUSE, made in a nice special sauce omg it was amazing. I want more!!! Miso soup was amazing, nice diced pieces of tofu, seaweed, and scallions. The fried gyoza was great. Everything about this place was amazing. It has now become our go to spot, and we are so excited to try more things off the menu. read more

I found my new sushi spot! We enjoyed Nizi, but this place is on another level from the food to down to customer service. Amazing! I called 10 minutes before closing not realizing that they close at 9:30pm, the lady was so pleasant and said she would gladly take my order. Upon arrival, she apologized to my husband for not being able to deliver. (We didn't ask, we knew we had to pick up). Now onto the food, everything was so fresh and tasty. I regret not ordering more. I almost didn't want to share (not that I ever want to, but exceptionally this meal). I have nothing but the best things to say, honestly. Welcome to the town, we are happy to have you! Really great to have a neighborhood sushi place again, that knows how to take care of the customer. Domodachi I was told means Best friend or friend and that's exactly how I was treated. Just like the old sushi place, I was given free food and a large mug of green tea while I waited for my take out. Didn't wander to far off the reservation with sushi, California rolls and spicy tuna but it was great. They threw in a bonus of free edamame when I opened my bag at home. Not for nothing but excellent quality chopsticks. I will return. read more

A well-fit restaurant name for the vibes that it gives off. Domodachi means friend in Japanese, and I would describe it gives off that friendly atmosphere. Decor is homey, simple yet comforting. When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by a nice Asian woman who has a smile that makes you feel like you're being gently hugged. I felt immediately welcomed as soon as I stepped into the restaurant, a sensation that's rare when you enter most establishments. My party and I ordered a wide variety of rolls/sashimi, I HIGHLY recommend their white tuna sashimi, it teleported me to the ocean, it tasted that fresh. All the other rolls that I tried were amazing as well, it's pretty obvious that the chef here takes great pride/care in their craft. Additionally, I would say that the portion sizes are quite generous, I did not leave hungry (which is something I can't say for all sushi restaurants without paying an exorbitant amount)! All-in-all a 5/5 on my end, please do consider stopping by this restaurant if you're in the area! read more

food was great ! my 5yo loves it. Only suggestion, make shrimp tempura roll smaller in circumference. Sloppiest shrimp tempura roll I've seen and my wife couldn't eat it. Chicken Katsu box, excellent.. Eel roll , excellent.. but first impressions are first impressions , and we order shrimp tempura rolls everywhere, as my wife seldom eats raw fish. A day may come when I personally have a hankering for some sushi and I may just have to order for myself . read more

OMG! By far one of thee Best Sushi Restaurant. The Salmon skin and the Eel.... To die for. I have NEVER been so blown away by sushi, this place did it! I would LOVE to take photos, but as soon as the food arrives any thoughts other then consuming it are just lost. read more

I was a big fan of Nizi who used to occupy this space so I was a little hesitant to try a new sushi restaurant. A friend's recommendation along with the positive reviews were enough to get me to agree. I was so happy I did! The new owners gave the space a face lift and it looks great. The service was friendly and fast. Most importantly, the food was fresh and delicious! My friends were raving about how fresh their salmon sashimi was and that it melted in their mouth! If you want sushi, no need to think about where to go, just go to Domodachi, the sushi here is delicious. I now know where to go whenever I want sushi. You can get the best quality sushi without paying too much money. If anyone were to ask me where to go for sushi, I would recommend this place without any hesitation.
