Unfortunately, this missed in the flavor dept. the asada lacked seasoning and since there was a lot of rice it made the burrito dry. Definitely can be split into lunch and dinner. Wrapped in 2 tortillas and must weight 3-5 lbs at $22.75 before tax. Order at the counter under the menu and pay in front at cashier. The service was really nice. The carnitas are crispy and moist, 10/10 would recommend !! They add lettuce and jalapeño to the burritos/nachos which I think is pretty unique compared to a regular taqueria. Unassuming storefront with a gem of a mini taqueria in the back. Staff were all inviting and engaged. The portion were very generous and everything felt like good quality. ¡Buenisimos! This is the The place to be for jumbo-sized entrees! Yep, this Jumbo burrito is legit - not just in length but in girth. It turned out to be over a foot long going 1 and a half feet! Not only that, it was packed thick as I had to palm it like a football or nerf basketball. They definitely filled it completely. No skimping on ingredients here. A little taqueria located in an unassuming corner grocery mart. I ordered ahead and our two burritos were ready within 5 minutes - super quick! I like that they have the option of a regular and baby burrito and there is actually a noticeable size difference between the two. Both burritos were stuffed full of ingredients although they felt a little rice heavy. I could have used more protein in mine. While the burrito was tasty, a lot of the wet ingredients were all pooled on one end which made it messy. Don Chuys located in Excelsior neighborhood is a liquor store/taqueria. It's a nice change of pace from the normal good taquerias on Mission street. It's almost like it has a neighborhood taste to it. How is that you ask? The steak they use also isn't regular beef on the griddle but some sort of stewed chuck or shoulder beef. Not the normal flavor but it's nice that it's tender and moist chunks of meat.They are also the original taqueria to come up with the gut busting Jumbo burrito to my knowledge. I'm talking over 20 years ago, I was ordering these mammoth, my 600 pound life sized burritos. Prices have changed as well however. A super burrito is now $11.00, the regular is $8.50, the jumbo comes in at a $18.50. So my order totaled $55.40. Mucho dinero muchacho! The people who work here are friendly and awesome. It has been a hidden gem in the neighborhood for years, and I have been going here with my family since I was a baby. Food is always hot and ready to go, made just right and made right in front of you. The chips are made there and are the best tortilla chips ever, don't even need salsa to eat them. I'm so happy I found you Don Chuys!!!! I found this spot due to having a job site nearby, and ever since then I go out of my way to come grab a burrito, even when I'm across the city or not even IN the city at all. From the outside, this looks just like a little typical convenience store, but you walk to the back and there's a spot to order all types of great Mexican food. I've only had the burritos so far, but that alone is outstanding. I love adding all the hot sauce they offer along with the jalapeños, I typically get a regular asada burrito.
