Don Don is a low key KBBQ joint that serves only pork, which definitely distinguishes it from other KBBQ places. They specifically focus on dry aged pork, which I have had before but not in KBBQ form. My husband and I got the sampler, which comes with banchan, jigae, steamed egg jjim, and three cuts of pork: fresh pork belly, dry aged pork belly, and dry aged collar. To be honest, when the cuts of pork came out, they looked really small and not worth the money, but overall the meal was very filling and we ended up skipping the free ice cream. I thought the meat was tasty, but there wasn't really that much of a noticeable difference between the dry aged meat and regular meat. Also, the heat source for the grill is induction, so it didn't have the same char that you would get from coal or gas, and the two forms of pork belly actually got taken to the back kitchen to be seared and then got finished on the table grill. I do agree with other reviewers who commented on the lack of ventilation in the place. Your clothes and hair will smell when you leave this place. That being said, the service was amazing. Every person we encountered there was so kind and gracious. Exceptional on that front. read more

Food is great! We ordered the pork noodles which is amazing and surprisingly good! We started with scallion pancake and then pork belly both were also delicious. They make their own grape soju which is also good the strawberry once tasted like a smoothie with alcohol. Love the food! The service though is a bit off, I know it's a busy restaurant but whenever we finished a dish they would ask 3-4 times if we are done to clean the table. They also keep opening the door when it's SUPER cold out. Came here for an early Friday dinner with my husband and we had the tasting menu. It came with many pickled ban chan, choice of soup, egg soufflé and 3 different pieces of pork (fresh belly, aged pork collar and aged pork belly) that the server cooked for us. Our favorites were both pork belly and the collar was good. The server cooked the meats to our liking and was very attentive to our needs. The only negative was the smokiness during cooking and our clothes definitely still smelled smoky after leaving the restaurant. Compared to when Don Don first opened, the quality has gone down a bit sadly. Most noticeable were the dipping paring options--they used to use fresher wasabi (that has a slight crumbly texture) now they use one of those flavorless bright green paste; they used to use authentic Jeot-Gal (fermented seafood) but now they've switched it to plain Ssam-Jang (bean paste mix). The menu has also changed so there is no longer "special meat of the day" type item. Even though it's a "free" item, the pancake is oh so good. I wish I could get a few just for me. We also ordered the steamed egg. I absolutely love the steamed egg here. The flavor is so good unlike other places I've tried. Since it was our first time here, we got the meat combo so that we get to try all the cuts of pork. Honestly, I thought it looked like very small portion but it turned out to be a good amount of food. I love all the cuts of pork honestly. We also ordered veggies to eat with the pork. It also has these cooked garlic on the side and a lot of sauces and banchan to pair the pork with. I particularly love the soy bean sauce and the roe, so much so I asked for more soy bean sauce. We also ordered a noodle soup and every bit of that noodle soup was fantabulous! Don't sleep in the noodle just because the main attraction is the bbq here! To round out your meal, you also get a free cup of ice cream with black sesame sprinkle. The sesame taste is very mild but the ice cream is not your regular vanilla ice cream. The butcher's special is lowkey a steal to try the multiple cuts don't sleep on her. You get the loin, ribs, jowl, collar, and belly enough for two people for $80!! (Spoiler: pork collar might be even better than belly) The sauces they come with are also slightly different from your typical ktown classics. I forget all of them but there was a ssamjang with anchovy that I CLEANED up. Also these don't come with rice so you gotta order that separately. We also ordered the Gogi Guksu which was a tasty clean broth with thin noods and no shortage of thinly sliced pork belly in it. All this was more than filling for two hungry bois that just played 5 hours of tennis. And just when we were thinking of getting boba, they must've heard our thoughts cuz they brought out complimentary cups of black sesame soft serve which is not on their menu but I would've definitely ordered cuz that sht SLAPPED. Perfect way to end the meal. The ambiance is also lively and with the servers walking around to take care of the cooking. I need to know who was on aux cuz the krnb bangers were hitting. I love the decorations and the vibes for this restaurant! It's small and more of an intimate feeling compared to other larger KBBQ places. The service is also really on top of things. They cook it for you and are always checking to make sure your meats are cooked properly. The food was just average to me. I would give it a 3/5. We love that we don't have to go to Koreatown just to satisfy our cravings for good korean food :) We always order the butcher's special. The meat is so tender paired perfectly with the ssam veggies and delicious garlic. You can always request the server on how you would like your meat to be cooked. The garlic can be refilled just ask the server. I love the sauces here - it was made by the chef and not bought elsewhere. I always look forward too with the perilla leaves in their ssam veggies. It just makes a perfect bite for me with the meat. The banchan's quality are really good - similar taste profile with what they have in their michelin star restaurants Mari and Kochi. Daytime here is more quiet but if you eat in the evening, it can get noisy and busy. They also serve beers and soju so this could be a good place to bring your friend for a chill evening. read more

At first, I was excited as it was a SAMGYUPSAL/ Korean grill concept. What I had in mind was different. However, it did not disappoint. The item you should order is the Butchers special. At $80 total the special easily feeds two people. If you've been to Cote this is the butchers feast substituted with pork.
