Everything else was overpriced and definitely not worth what they charge. The service was extremely disappointing. Our server seemed to completely forget about our table after taking our order. We were not served water, banchan, or even had our BBQ grill heated up. He spent most of the time standing around, and I eventually had to ask him a question just for him to realize that he had already taken our order. The food also came out much later than what we typically experience at other Korean BBQ restaurants. We also asked for the check three separate times. By the third request, I was half expecting to spend the night there. We waited so long that I honestly felt like I could have just walked out without anyone noticing. The music was so loud I was convinced I had accidentally walked into a nightclub instead of dinner. It was honestly louder than some movie theaters and clubs. I had to ask the staff to turn it down because they either didn't realize or didn't care. I felt especially bad for the babies and young kids dining there. No restaurant should have music blasting at that volume. One more thing to watch out for: the suggested tip is calculated on the total after tax, not the pre-tax subtotal. If you prefer tipping based on the subtotal, double-check the math before paying. The seafood pancake and tofu stew were the only highlights. Located on the south side of 32nd St's K-town, Miss Korea BBQ is on the 2nd and 3rd floors. They used gas grills in the table (vs wood briquettes which definitely provide a better flavor). The wait staff moves fast and are efficient. They are used to handling as we saw lots of large parties at other tables. Miss Korea BBQ serve the typical banchan, side dishes that are served ahead of the main dishes: Kongnamul (seasoned soybean sprouts), Eomuk bokkeum (fried fishcake), broccoli, kimchee (spicy pickled cabbage), scallion salad, etc. We ordered the marinated grill platters: pork belly, short ribs, galbi, bulgogi, prime ribeye. The stone pot bibimbap bulgogi lacked the crispy rice edges. The Sundubu Jjigae, Korean spicy tofu soup, was delicious. The BBQ portions were small and the prices high - probably spent almost a quarter or double what we spend at other Korean BBQs. We came here kind of early at 5-5:30 on a Saturday- and the restaurant was beginning to get full. Service was fast, a little too fast because they actually cooked our meats too fast for us to keep up with eating it (I think because it wasn't super busy yet) so our meats ended up cold and dried. We ordered the non-marinated meat set (S), cold buckwheat noodles, and soju flight. The side dishes were actually all good and unique, and the soup typically has doenjang but theirs didn't which felt lighter and we actually preferred it. We were honestly overwhelmed with the amount of side dishes and things on the table but in a good way. Buckwheat noodles could have been sweeter in my opinion but was still refreshing- also had a unique subtle taste. Soju flight was fun but not really worth the price. Found this place because we were starving after a New Year's party, so it was the first meal of the year, and of course, it had to be Korean! They are open 24 hours and advertise themselves as one of the best KBBQs in the city, which seems to be true, as it was packed when we arrived, and we had to wait about 30+ minutes, which wasn't terrible given the day. We got a good seat and were greeted right away by our server, and after placing our order, we got our banchans (see pictures). Keep in mind this is not an AYCE spot like in Flushing, so we got the pork fried dumplings and marinated beef short ribs, and it comes with free rice. The ribs arrived, and our server was on top of it, grilling them and cutting them up for us. Taste-wise, it was good; I feel like the seasoning could have been more flavorful. It seemed mild. We came here on a busy evening with a reservation for two. We went all out with the signature beef grill platter, as we were in the mood for a variety of short ribs on this day. The meat is grilled tableside by the servers which is an experience unto itself. We did find it rather hard to small talk across the table with the grill separating us, but we had come more focused on eating on this day anyways. The wall was full of large screen TVs which was perfect with the World Cup game on, and left my eyes wandering from the grill to the TV and back, often. Today I had the pleasure of catching up with some former colleagues from Deutsche Bank over a Korean BBQ dinner in Koreatown. We decided to try a spot called Miss Korea, located on the second floor of a building that houses several other businesses including a few bars. It has a nice energy to it before you even sit down. The meat was excellent. Honestly, great Korean BBQ starts with a good cut of beef, and once that is on the grill the experience tends to take care of itself. Miss Korea delivers on that front without question. The rice was flavorful as well, though notably spicy, which is not really my personal preference. The dumplings followed the same profile, bold and spicy, and while they tasted good I found myself reaching for water more than I would have liked. My friends had a completely different reaction. Their response to my spice concerns was essentially "what spicy?" which tells you everything you need to know. Heat tolerance is personal, and if you enjoy bold spicy flavors you will probably love everything on this menu without reservation. For me the highlight was less about the food and more about the company. There is something genuinely refreshing about sitting down with old friends, catching up, and sharing a good meal. I've been coming to Miss Korea BBQ for nearly 15 years, but after my most recent visit, I won't be returning. The quality, service, and integrity that kept me coming back have really gone downhill. The biggest issue was the 숙주나물 (seasoned bean sprouts), which was clearly spoiled. As a Korean, I know exactly how it should taste, and this was unmistakably bad. I let our waitress know right away. Instead of removing the spoiled side dishes from our table and replacing them for all five of us, she simply said they couldn't replace them. She later returned with one large bowl of a completely different banchan for everyone to share. That is not an acceptable way to handle spoiled food. It also made me wonder how many non-Korean diners unknowingly ate the same spoiled bean sprouts because they wouldn't have known the difference. We also ordered beer and soju, both of which were served lukewarm. The waitress eventually brought us a pitcher of ice water so we could chill the bottles ourselves. That helped a little, but drinks should be served properly chilled from the start. Another disappointment was the grilling service. The waitress kept cutting our meat into small pieces before putting it on the grill. That's not how quality Korean BBQ should be prepared. The meat should be grilled as a whole piece first to retain its juices and flavor, then cut as it cooks. It felt like she was doing it to make her job easier rather than to provide the best dining experience. We eventually had to ask her to let us cook it ourselves. The most frustrating part was when I tried to explain the spoiled bean sprouts to the manager. Before I could finish, the waitress interrupted and spoke to the manager in Korean. Since I also understand Korean, I knew she was not accurately explaining what had happened or acknowledging that the bean sprouts were spoiled. Instead of taking the complaint seriously, it felt like they were trying to dismiss it. After nearly 15 years as a loyal customer, this experience was incredibly disappointing. Food quality, service, and honesty all matter, especially when you're representing Korean cuisine. Sadly, Miss Korea BBQ no longer lives up to the standards it once had. The server (could not get his name) was overall excellent even if he brought the wine bottle and glasses and left it on the table for us to open ourselves..His skills on the grill and his explanation of the Korean items was absolute Michelin star worthy!. The negatives start off with my wife and I encountering a dour 60ish man at the entrance to the restaurant who had a ipad that showed the reservations for the evening; i had made a reservation for a table for 6. He asked me to wait outside while he went inside for a good 3-5 minutes and somewhat curtly nodded for us to go in where a waitress led us to a table close to the entrance. A few minutes later I spotted my guests (a family of four Caucasians from Spain) talking to the same man at the entrance whose face seemed transformed into a genial smile. The next thing I knew my guests were escorted to a side entrance to the 2nd floor. I ran out to the entrance to find out what was going on and was told they had been sent up to the 2nd floor, a secluded and quiet space with "private" rooms, which was nice. I asked my friend as to what happened and he said the dour usher/owner said "his friends" were upstairs and had been led to an unknown couple of other Caucasians. Clearly, as a brown Indian, my wife and I were not deemed worthy of the 2nd floor. Completely unacceptable but not surprising, given my decades of experience with Korea (I have been to Seoul 3 times) and the generous sprinkling of racism in society there. read more

The four stars are for the kindness and generosity of Miss Korea's staff. My friend was hungry. Low blood sugar was making him irascible late on a Wednesday night. Restaurant after restaurant had closed their kitchens. Miss Korea is open 24 hours. The food was fine. Perhaps the meat isn't Wagyu quality, but the prices aren't either. We left Miss Korea full and content. Later that night, my friend noticed some legal papers were missing from his possession. Convinced he left them at a bar in Harlem, we planned to take the subway to 125th Street the next day. Alas, the bar could not find the papers. I mentioned that perhaps the cache was misplaced at Miss Korea. Skeptical but with nothing to lose, we trained down to Miss Korea. With the assistance of the executive chef, my friend found his papers and more. He didn't even know he had left a bundle of mail at Miss Korea. I was able to make a last minute reservation for Miss Korea in ktown for 7 people on NYE and it seemed like they had multiple times available for whatever party size. This is a MAJOR plus because if you're craving kbbq with a big group you should be easily able to grab a table last minute. It seems like there is a ton of space inside and we were seated on the top floor in a beautifully decorated room. The space was a little tight and being able to reach all the food was slightly difficult. I felt the service was a little rushed because the meats were basically all prepared at once it felt like which had some of the meat go cold quicker because they were ready before we even could get through the first batch. I also found the platters to be a little pricey. We took the beef platter large combo which was $300. We ordered 2 for 7 people and if I were to go again, I would order a large followed by a small, even with a group who likes to eat plenty of food. We also got multiple yogurt soju cocktails which were delicious but again, a little pricey ($22 per small bottle). I didn't think the quality of the food matched the price point or rushed experience. I realize that very few (3?) places offer charcoal bbq, anymore, although they do here--but, they give you about five pieces of charcoal and the fire goes out before your food is even cooked.
