I went for the restaurant week lunch special. The service there was phenomenal and the sides were good. We started with the fried chicken. I recommend the salt and pepper chicken which was incredibly juicy and crispy. The spicy one was very good too but the sauce was nothing special. It comes with kimchi, broccoli, fish cake, lotus roots, lotus and more as sides. The fish cake was a little too tough, kind of like jerky. I thought the meats were very tender and the marinade for the beef was very flavorful without being too overpowering. The cuts to the meat make it very easy to chew so it almost melts in your mouth. I also loved that the cooking stove has the vents on the side so the air doesn't even hit your face or clothes. The staff will cook everything in front of you as well so you don't have to worry about a thing. With that being said, do I think it's worth the price? Debatable. It's a very typical Korean bbq and you're not getting anything very special. It's nice for the ambience of a nice date.

Went here for restaurant week. Food was really good and very good value. All the meats were high quality and tasted good. Service was also really great as well. Pear sorbet dessert was amazing. The other ice cream was ok. For the appetizers, the fried chicken was yummy and the dumpling was good as well but was too mushy.

the cold acorn noodles here are very good and not too expensive, especially compared to everything else here. very nice service and banchan.

Yoon is something of an institution, securing its spot on the NYT top 100 list for several years now. Obviously, anything Wells and Co suggests piques my interest, so I visited on Thursday, somehow managing to snag a walk-in seat for two at 6. Upon seating, we were immediately greeted with a small assortment of banchan accompanied by a side salad. We ordered the marinated short rib and fresh short rib. Both were absolutely sumptuous in every definition of the word, with the fresh short rib being our favorite of the two -- indulgent with its ultra beefy flavor. Do order the cold noodles!! Not sure if they make the noodles and broth in house, but wouldn't be surprised if they did. Might be one of the best naengmyuns I've had to date. Even comes with sliced raw pear, which is unfortunately hard to come by on our side of the Mississippi (SF Bay Area). After having recently returned from Korea, my standards for KBBQ are noticeably raised, but suffice to say, Yoon holds up.

Amazing all the way through, especially the marinated short rib, busan pancake, kimchi stew, and spicy cold noodles. Two meats and a bunch of sides was way too much food.

PLASTIC FOUND IN MY SOUP I found a fairly large piece of clear plastic in my short rib stew after I had already eaten about half of it. It looked like it had melted and deformed from being in the hot broth, which was really disturbing. What made the situation even more upsetting was the restaurant's initial response. There was no apology at first, and it felt like they didn't take the situation very seriously. The first thing I was told was, "Since you already ate half of the broth, I'll get you a refund instead of recooking it." I later came across another post from someone who said they had also found a piece of plastic in their salad at the same restaurant. If that's true, I'm concerned this may not be an isolated incident and that there could be a bigger issue with their food preparation and hygiene. The broth for the short rib stew takes hours to make, and other soups, including yukgaejang, are also made with the same broth. I really hope they actually discarded the rest of the batch after this happened and checked everything thoroughly. I hope the restaurant takes this seriously, looks into what happened, and reviews their food preparation process so this doesn't happen to another customer.

We picked this placed not really knowing anything about it. Later on, I saw a video that mentioned it was on the top 4 rated Korean BBQ spots on Beli. We ordered the marinated package not expecting anything. We have our list of places where we love marinated short ribs or ribeyes. Boy, were we surprised when we took our first bite without any seasoning, as suggested by our server. The cut on the meat made it very tender and the seasoning was on point. This blew away whatever notion we had of good marinated meat. It was spectacular to say the least. Even though our server jumped from table to table, he was very informative and attentive. Service from the other staff was also good. When our banchans were running low, they asked if we wanted more. We love our banchans and usually have to ask, but not here. They treat you like family. It was also our first time to have lotus root, it was phenomenal. The place is impressive, good ventilation. Let me say, this gave a whole new meaning to Korean BBQ for us. This is now our favorite spot for KBBQ. Thank you!

Marinated Short Rib and Silken Tofu Stew lunch set menu.
    Ted K.

Got the lunch set menu of marinated short rib and silken tofu stew which seemed like a bargain for $37 but I probably made a mistake. The meat was cooked in the kitchen not tableside and was good. But I probably sound have ordered à la carte and have it grilled at the table. Sigh.

We were blown away. The value, quality, staff service, and interior design - this place has it all. In fact, we were so impressed that we are already planning out trip back to New York to come back here. We came during lunch and ordered from their amazing value lunch sets. The four of us all chose the marinated short ribs as we wanted to try their famous galbi. Haeundae galbi is very famous and popular in Korea. We chose soybean stew, silken tofu stew, and kimchi stew. And since we don't come to New York often, we also ordered Uni Mentaiko rice and spicy cold noodles. Oh man, everything was amazingly delicious. The galbi was high quality ribs cooked to perfection and cut in perfect sizes for easy picking. The stews were all fantastic. The shrimp and crab inside the silken tofu soup were huge and fresh. The soybean stew was amazing. The Uni Mentaiko rice was savory and super delicious. And the cold noodles? I still dream about it. One of the best Korean restaurants, ever. The lunch set was a steal at less than $40 for its quality.

Service was a 5/5, and I really appreciate the server cooking our meat for us. However the meat cuts that we ordered was just less good than at other kbbq restaurants and cost about $48 per cut. The brisket was the best thing we ordered but was on the oilier side due to the interesting grill shape that pooled all the oil inside instead of leaking into an oil trap. The marinated short rib was cut into a crisscrossed shape to have more surface area but it just wasn't my favorite was of cooking short rib. Lastly the haeundae style bulgogi was just odd to me, cooked in the marinade so it was effectively boiled with enoki mushrooms and sauce. It lead to a rather chewy ground beef texture and was not the grilled style I prefer. The fried dumplings here were thick and tough instead of tender, but were quite fragrant from the chives. Overall I think that this place is unique and may not be everyone's cup of tea, as it definitely wasn't mine. The atmosphere was classy and nice though, and if you do your research before coming you might like it.

    Glass noodles
    Elizabeth X.

Everything was so delicious. The meat was really flavorful--especially the marinated galbi--and tender. The glass noodles were a bit bland, but still overall very good mixed in with all the vegetables. The octopus over rice was also amazing, with a great sauce on the rice. I wasn't a huge fan of the banchan selection, as they personally don't have any of my favorites, but it was a good spread. They cook the meat for you at a grill on a table.

    Alan T.

Yoon Haeundae is a higher end Korean BBQ, and I definitely enjoyed my experience here! The banchan were refreshing and I really liked the bean curd and broccoli. My favorite was the lotus root, I liked the seasoning on that. I also had the marinated beef package - it was a set of 4 different cuts of beef, with the final one cooked in a soup/hot pot style. I liked everything I had!

Ask the Community - Yoon Haeundae Galbi

Do you cook your own, or does your server do it?

    Server does it all!

What's your BYOB policy? I got some fancy soju from my recent Korea trip and would love to try it at one of my favorite kbbq place! It's about 43% alcohol in case that matters. Thanks!

Regular wine (15% or below) is $30 per bottle. Anything higher is $50 per bottle.

What does the dipping sauce comprise? It looks like salt and chili powder? Are we supposed to add sesame oil to it?

Don't add sesame oil to it!! It is salt and fine red pepper powder. You simply just dip the meat and eat! It brings out the flavor of the meat.

Does this place check vaccine card?

Yes as NYC safety protocol, we check everyone’s vaccination card. Even new employees and third party vendors. Please bring your proof of vaccination please

Are there still reservations for outdoor seating?

Unfortunately we are shutting down the outdoor dining area on Saturday. Due to safety issue with outdoor and traffic. But our indoor dining is very safe with spaced tables and dividers. We also have ventilation system in the middle of table so there…

When is your lunch menu served?

Looks like the restaurant updated lunch menu (including lunch "set menu") to be available Mon-Fri only. No more weekend lunch "set menu" deals.

Are we allowed to bring our alcohol?

Yes our corkage fee is $30 per bottle (750ml) Any Magnum or hard Liquor is $50 per bottle

Do you do take-out/pick-up orders? If so, what app/website can customers use for self pick-up order? I understand that delivery stopped as of 6/1/21.

We currently stopped all the takeout/pickup/delivery order. Sorry for the inconvenience

Regarding their lunch "set menu" that comes with a choice of stews, is that available during weekend lunch hours?

Our lunch menu is available whole through out the week. So yes during the weekend lunch we have lunch menu.

What are their gluten free options?

Yes. All the non marinaded meats are gluten free and we have some GF menu when you check our website menu. There is GF sign next to the menu. We want to stay away from Soy sauce or fermented soybean paste or gochujang contained food

Do you have a private room avails for party of 6 to 7? Also I'm constantly getting a busy signal when I call. Do you have a different phone #?

Sorry to hear that. We are currently fully booked except 8:30 would this work for you?

Do you guys have outdoor dining?

Yes we do! We have fives outdoor tables for 3-4 guests. Reservation is highly recommended

Can guests grill meat themselves or is it all done by staff? I haven't been able to find a place that lets guests grill themselves outdoors!

Does the outdoor dining experience allow for you the grill your own meat or is the meat cooked inside and brought out?

We bring portable grill next to you. We cook it next to your table. We bring experience to you!

Does this place have all you can eat KBBQ?

Hi. Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately we do not offer All you can eat. We only have selection of the meat to provide the best quality food for our guests. Thanks again.

When is the happy hr everyday? Or just monday to fri?

It is from 5pm to 7pm and whole week!

What's included in the lunch special?

For the set menu, you get a choice of protein that is BBQ'd and a stew. then you get a white rice and a few side dishes like kimchi. You can ask for refills of those sides. I got the kimchi stew and it had galbi in it which was great. I don't…

Do they offer brown rice or mixed rice?

They have white and multigrain rice

Do the lunch bbq sets for two come with banchan?

Yes, usually everything comes with banchan :)

Does they have vegan friendly Jjajangmyeon?

Unfortunately, No. but we do have some options for the vegan food. Our servers will help you once you come in.
