Granted, my husband signed the papers but the dishonesty from this dealership is outlandish. We were sold a hail damaged 2015 Outlander with $1000 miles on it for full price. I have no clue why the heck my husband ever signed these forms but I left him there with a selling price of $15,900 and that somehow got us a vehicle loan for over $20k. They even gave him an odometer reading of 5 miles (again, that my husband stupidly signed) when it had 1000 miles on it. I know it's my own fault for leaving my husband there but seriously, who tried to pull that over a customer??!! This dealership, obviously. After rec'ing a very elaborate buy-back or trade-in flyer in the mail from this location in the metroplex, I called to see if the deal was valid. I was attracted to the portion of the flyer that listed they would buy my car for up to a certain value, that I did NOT have to trade it in to get this certain deal; I could walk away with cash in my pocket. After calling to confirm this, I was told to stop by to see either David or Mike. Upon arrival, David, who seemed to be "the boss" told me that there was no way I could walk out of there with anything near what the flyer said without trading in my vehicle and proceeded to tell me this was all in the fine print, which I re-read and it was not. He was very unfriendly, impersonal, gruff, and honestly made me feel like I was a stupid women for even thinking this would happen, regardless of what the flyer said. I then asked I was I was not told this by Mark BEFORE driving 25 miles to this out-of-the-way-for-me-dealership, the guy who answered the phone, and he back-peddled with an excuse, of course. My experience at Don Herring was neither good nor bad. If I could give it 2 1/2 stars I would, but I wouldn't call it "A-OK", so I didn't go as high as three. My sales guy was nice enough, though I've certainly spoken with more knowledgeable car guys. At one point, I test drove a new car of the model he owned, and I didn't care for it. He actually argued with me about the drawbacks I was feeling - sluggish, poor A/C (this was June), etc. Dude, I know what I'm experiencing, and I'm no car snob. At any rate, I did find a car I liked a lot, and the price, IMO, was very fair. I didn't try to haggle and we settled down for the paperwork, which took over three hours. This may be a common experience (first time car buyer), but good Lord. And I mentioned this was June, right? It was hot inside and out, and we (I was with a family member) were never offered anything to drink. So, I'm all set to find out what kind of loan I can receive, and they say they need proof of insurance before I can be qualified for a loan. Come again? How would I have proof of insurance a car I'm buying if I don't even know if I'm buying the car based on the financing options? They explain this has nothing to do with them, as they use 3rd party financing. Fine, I call my insurance agent, who is as perplexed as I am, and have a document sent saying I now have coverage for a car I don't even own yet. Get the financing, all is good. They wash it for me and tell me they will contact me when the plates come in. I get the call that the plates are in a couple of weeks later. I went in to see my sales guy to get them, but he wasn't there that day, so another rep gave them to me. I asked if I could get my car washed while I was there, and he told me to ask the guys in the service center when he installed my plates, and I was promptly told no. Now, I'm not a guy who expects a free wash every week since I purchased a car from them, but this said a lot to me about how this company treats people after the sale. I know sales guys sometimes make promises they can't back because the right hand doesn't talk with the left, but I didn't really feel like my request was that unreasonable. So, in summary, meh. If you find a good deal like I did, don't be afraid, but a lot of the experience I had is what gives car dealers such a miserable reputation. read more

I came in early in the morning without an appointment and they took my 09 Lancer right in for the oil change I needed. A few hours later called me saying I needed a new battery and 30,000 mile service which was fine. It took longer than expected due to added maintence that was needed. When my car was finally done, my car felt like it ran when i first bought my car since after the accident i had it never ran the same. They explained everything that was done to my car, and even gave all the reports that the mechanic wrote on. They were extremely nice, and didnt give an attitude since my oil change was long long over due. I will coming back for any maintence needed for my car. read more

We had a knocking sound when turning in our Montero Sport. Took it here and they told me we needed a new drive train mount ($400 + ). Declined and had the oil changed only. They were not happy that we declined and stressed that the drive train could fall off. Then we took the car to an honest mechanic who quickly found that the real problem was that the tire jack beneath the truck was loose and we needed a 10 cent wing nut. I drove up to the dealership on March 31st on my way to my job to finish up some online training. When I stopped out front Scott walked up to my car and asked me how he could help me out. After I explained my interest in getting a loan and my curiousity in the process of getting Don Herring does their financing. In no time at all he explained that even people with barely used credit and some knocks on my credit history have a chance at getting approved. I was skeptical of this claim since I had been denied a loan from Kia, Mazda, and Honda within the last two years in my search for my first new car. Scott walked me through the process of getting a loan and how I could avoid taking hits to my credit score by running a soft inquiry instead of them automatically assuming I wanted to run a hard inquiry. Since he asked my permission and the outlook for getting a loan was good I proceeded with a hard inquiry to the bank. I was approved for the first time ever since my search began five years ago. I had stipulations in order to get the loan I was approved for which included my current car, 1998 Mazda Protege ES 1.5L w/205,000 miles, and getting full coverage insurance before I could drive off. After the deal went through and Scott showed me my new 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage (hatchback) in depth I was able to drive away the same day I showed up with my simple questions about their loan process. I am definitely recommending Don Herring Mitsubishi in Plano, Texas to my friends and family. They took care of someone like me who has a lot of credit hits and it's the first time I've ever felt trusted by a dealership enough to make it all the way through the process. I'm now driving my new car and getting compliments from my family on the quality of the model and it's nifty "trick" that the CVT transmission can do by switching into Drive-S to use as an engine brake when coming to sudden stops. Absolutely disgusting lying dirty rats!!! STAY AWAY from this dealership at all costs!!! I was looking for a new car (not going into details) I trades mine in and $5,000 for a down payment. I found the car I wanted and was told it was NEW... First lie. I saw the milage and was told "oh the owner of the dealership personally owned this car and it was at Auto shows... Sounds iffy so I thought I can haggle here since they are trying to scam me by selling a so called new car with 10,000 miles already on it. I asked for a car fax and 5 times they REFUSED to give me one because the car is new. I should have walked away but they were giving me the best trade in value for my other car. Should of known to good to be true right? I haggled and thought I was getting a good deal. A year later my breaks are making a horror movie noise, so I brought it to the dealer because in the sale they promised my first break pad replacement would be free. I had it in writing. They refused to honor it!!! The auto body center looked at my car and pointed out rust damage all over the car.... WTF!!! I was so pissed!!! Still am. Then the dealer tried to blame it on me when iv never even driven the car out of Texas. So I took it to a few other places and they all said "yes, do. Harring is VERY shady and we get a lot of their angry customers". This just kills me inside. I even took the car to another mitsu dealership and they even said the one in plank is known for lying and ripping people off. I wish of god I wish I knew this sooner. I had the breaks replaced, which by the way were recalled breaks the dealer used to cut costs. I yelled at them because they still refuse to acknowledge the warranty. Also the USB iPod hook up has never worked right. Iv brought it in 3 times and they can't fix it. When the iPod is playing only the right speaker works. That they actually tried or so called tried to fix it. Still doesn't work right and iv learned to live with it. I reported the dealership to mitsu corporate and they said they have been filling an investigation on them due to a the reports and complaints they have been getting. I honestly hope the very worst for this dealer ship and their sales team. The service department is very nice. The rest of the team is scum and I'm sure they have a special place in hell waiting for them. Karma will get them like giving cancer to a loved one or worse. I hope they get shut down!!! So, This is way past due....1 year ago someone broke into my car, knocking out my window. Upon referral from my insurance agent I used them to replace it. I had bought a piece of glass all they had to do was put it in. They fix it and I am happy....for a week. Then I notice that something inside the window is cutting into the glass everytime I roll down the window and the window rolls up and down SOMETIMES...sometimes it stays down and wont go up. So I take it to them...they had bent the metal inside the window causing it to cut into the glass. They nicely agree to replace it. Cut to a few months later...I noticed from day 1 the glass looked different....rippled almost. Then it comes off the tracks completely. I take it to the glass guy near my office and he tells me it came unglued because of the cheap glass they used. So they replaced my expensive window glass with bottom of the line glass...which is why it looks weird and wouldn't stay glued. Very nice Don Herring...doubt my insurance guy will refer you again. I sure as hell wont be doing business there when I get ready to buy a car soon. If you are shady about this...I can only imagine what could happen if I made a major purchase there..... read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life! I went there because I had received an add saying they would give me a certain amount of trade in value for my mustang. It was a good deal so I went. When i showed them the add they immediately tried to hide it from me and said they would not honor it. I was still interested in in getting the outlander sport though so I made further inquiries like could i get the 2016 wheels on the 2015 model. They asked me what they were supposed to do with the wheels they took off the 2015 model.... They were so rude and sarcastic and made it clear they were not going to make an ounce of effort to sell me a car. I took my suv in a month ago for an oil change and routine service, and was told the battery needed charging but they didn't have the time to charge it that day. Today I came back to have the battery charged. I asked to have the brakes checked/receive a quote because they were squealing and I am pregnant and definitely don't want the brakes failing. I was "helped" by an older white guy, Larry I believe. He was very rude. I was quoted and hour but he returned within five minutes saying they couldn't charge my battery because it's not from their service shop. He told me I could either buy a new battery from them or wait for mine to fail. Great option for a pregnant woman right? I love being stranded because my battery won't start the car. I declined the new battery then asked about the brakes. His response was that they would have told me if I needed them a month ago. 1 month and a little over 3200 miles later, I am still loving my 5-speed 2017 Mirage ES. My experience at Don Herring was very good. I was in and out, including time for a 2nd test drive, in 2 hours flat. No muss, no fuss. No games or arguing over price. The price advertised online with rebates was accurate, and the car existed on the lot (in several colors). I chose this make and model over another manufacturer because of price. The Mitsubishi was cheaper than anything else, and it returns phenomenal fuel mileage. I have found the car to be extremely versatile. A new-in-box dishwasher and a piece of cement backer-board fit into the back of the car easily (at different times of course) and I am able to comfortably drive 80-90mph on the freeway, and still have power and torque to pass other vehicles. This came with great surprise. My car was offered with options not found on other manufacturers vehicles at the same price point. Things like hill start assist, keyless entry, power windows and locks, iPod hookup, a good stereo that still has a CD player, dunlop tires, air conditioning, glossy black interior trim, fun exterior colors and generally speaking a pleasant driving experience. This is a 3rd car for me. Someone told me to resist the urge to buy a car in this class. I'm glad that I did not listen as I enjoy it very much. For some this is a city car. For me, it's a cheap, economical highway car. It does its job just as intended, and Mitsubishi backs it with one heck of a warranty. read more

I bought my 2007 Eclipse GT Spyder, 6 speed here in July 2006 and the car has been SO reliable and sooo much fun to drive. I have never needed any kind of major service - only routine maintenance. Every time I brought it in, it was ready on time and always washed. I write this review today because I was having a little issue with the top needing "help" going up and down. J.B. helped me verify my 10 year bumper to bumper warranty was still in effect, allowed me to bring the car in on Memorial Day and pick it up the next day (today as I write this). The issue was actually relatively minor fortunately, but it works like a champ now! Of course, they brought it out clean :-). My car is admittedly a garage queen, always hand washed, and very low mileage for a 10 year old vehicle; nonetheless, it's been a great purchase and the deal I got back when was very fair. I no more got to tell him why I was there before he was trying to sell me something. The recall was to take 3-4 hours which I had been told by 3 different people. 5 hours later when I called to find out the status I was told it be another 3-4 hours. Why make an appointment ? Not only did I have to lose a 1/2 days work now it was the whole day! When I finally w picked up the car (7 hours later) it was sitting alone running with the door open. The paperwork by the technician recommended a few things that should be done and the service advisor would go over them with me. Needless to say nothing was gone over. I suggest Larry Ashe should take a vacation or get a new job and attitude! No wonder dealerships get such bad reputations. Larry Ashe is the reason why! read more

Very disappointed! Again, I took my car to the service department in Plano because the internal car chargers on my 2011 endeavor continues to blow the fuse. This was my third trip regarding the same issue. The car is still under warranty with only 26K miles. On the first service trip they charged me $8 and told me that the fuse had blown. They replaced the fuse. When I tried to use my charger again, the fuse blew. I took the car in a second time. They told me that they needed to replace a receptacle for the charger and it would take a few days to get the part. They called and told me that the part had arrived so I scheduled the appointment. I got to the dealership and they refused to give me a ride to work so I had to wait on them to complete the service. They installed the receptacle but the fuse still blew. The service person J.T. told me that I could only use a duracell charger and not the other chargers that i use for my GPS or DVD players. I told the service advisor that I have always used my GPS and DVD chargers. He told me that he couldn't resolve the issue and that I should get an extension cord and use the back charger. As it turns out, the fuse still blew when using the charger they recommended. Wow...that's just the type of service and response that you would hope. Right? So I left as I needed to get to work. They didn't even give a me any documentation on the last visit. I wonder why? Now I will need to take more time off work to find a different mitsu dealership that can resolve the issue. read more

I really do not enjoy giving this company a low rating as I originally bought my 2000 Eclipse from Don Herring and have had it serviced for years with no problems until last month. The service engine light came on and they diagnosed it as a bad fuel injector. After waiting 5 days for my car to be repaired, the part came in and I was charged around $832.00. Less than 36 hours later, I had the service engine light come on and returned it to be diagnosed with the same problem along with other more severe developments--bad fuel pump, all fuel injectors needed to be replaced along with a total clearing of the fuel line of some white stuff they said was a contaminant (which had not been noticed the first time I brought it in). My insurance company was brought in and my car was totalled. I tried to dispute this charge with my credit card company but lost. I ended up having to buy a new car. All in all, a very disappointing end to my beloved car and my relationship with Don Herring. I think I deserved better for being a loyal customer. I feel I was taken advantage of as I am a woman and a senior citizen. read more

So far, it still runs good and I try to keep in contact with the same person when I service it. Larry has really looked out for me and do not sugar-coat if there is a problem that need to be addressed. Very much professional. I have also dealt with others when I drove in and they were awesome also. Good quality, people person customer service. I took a friend of mine to this dealership who had an exact price quote from a sales representative, Mr. J. L. (name withheld) for a white 2013 2WD 4 dr. SE Outlander. The quote was available for him to personally review as a still existing e-mail on my friend's tablet device in his inbox from just two days earlier. (He declined.) The price quoted was $21,000+ (under 22...) for this model. It had no optional equipment on it, which was just what my friend was looking for. This did indeed seem like a good deal on an OT45-D so we made the long drive up from Mesquite. Mr. J.L. told us through another salesman that that car had been sold, yesterday. However, I noticed right outside the new car dealer floor room that there was a white SE parked and marked "Manager Special." It was the exact car in every respect - every! - except that it had a accessory cargo package and locking wheel nuts (4). We asked Mr. J.L. if he would honor the price if my friend would pay the full MSRP on the cargo nets/lug nuts. He said, No, and gave no reason or rationale. Keep in mind this is the SAME car; a white 2013 SE with no additional options. His price was a firm $23,995. That is the full MSRP sub-total price and over $2,000 more than the internet price he had written-up in an e-mail to my friend just two days earlier. He made matters worse by saying that he was "losing money" on this price. This is absurd. Consumer Report shows that the maximum that Mr. J.L.'s dealership paid the Mitsubishi Co. was $20,577.00. He was set to make $1,000 profit, not "lose" anything. $20,577.00 is the exact cost - the true cost, that they (or any dealer in the United States) pays Mitsubishi for the SE *without optional equipment. CR shows that as of this month (June), $21, 238.00 is their fair target price for the SE with NO options. In summary, I see no good reason for Mr. J.L. to have refused to not make good on his price on the same damn car, given that my friend was willing to pay the full MSRP of $280 for the one minor option. The moral to this story is to not take too seriously as real a *full price* given to you in an e-mail correspondence offer from a car salesman. Brett Cantrell needs to have some major training in customer service and customer relations. My fiance went into this dealership trying to buy a new car. I was unable to be there so she went by herself. After a little bit she called me for help cause she had signed some papers but didn't know what they were. While on the phone she told me what the terms and conditions were which was not a bad deal and seemed to be that they were trying to work with her however just wasn't a good deal for us at the time. I asked to speak to salesman to go over what these terms and conditions were due to the fact that my fiance doesn't really have any experience in this department and she felt more comfortable with me going over the paperwork. Upon asking Mr. Cantrell to talk to me on the phone, he said he would NOT talk to me about anything. At this moment I told my fiance to just get her keys and leave. After she left I called Mr. Cantrell to let him know that where he absolutely lost the deal was when he would not talk to me. He said he doesn't talk about that kind of stuff on the phone, however it seems he doesn't follow either his own rule or dealership policy because he began to tell me the numbers and that I would be crazy not to do this deal trying to get me back into the showroom. When i told him that i would not be coming back in but rather was calling to let him know how he lost the sale so that he could be more open in the future with talking on the phone he proceeded to tell me that "As her was her fiance I should have stepped up and co-signed for her to get her a better deal."
