We were looking for a car for my nephew. I did a lot of research online. I submitted some of those 'blind' emails asking questions to a couple of dealers. A couple of online salesMEN started email stalking me. Turned me off. I stopped looking for a while as it's just so painful. Then my research led me to the Certified Hondas here in Lexington, to Don Jacobs, who have many to choose from, and I submitted an email. Got a quick response from someone named Allison Thurman. I had what I needed. She didn't bug me again. I thought, hmm, a woman car salesperson and she's not stalking me, this is novel. Being an old broad, I've lived with the male dominated industries in my time. Tired of it really. I decided to go look at a few of the Certified Hondas at Don Jacobs as they have a LOT and they are reasonably priced online. Allison showed me the cars I was interested in, let me drive a few. No pressure. None. It was so refreshing. She answered my emails, but did not email me other than to respond to mine. Days, maybe a week passed. I got my nephew involved and took him to test drive a couple. Same laid back attitude from Allison. Super knowledgeable, super responsive, but no pressure at all. We left, did more research. Decided on our own when to go back in and discuss an offer. Made an offer. Of course, per the ingrained rules of car dealing, she had to involve so-called management, to mansplain to me how this works, he swooped in to make it a NOT SO great experience. This part was the typical used-car experience I'm sorry to say. My nephew and I had done searches on kbb, edmunds, other dealers, etc. and we knew our first offer and second (and last) offer, and we also agreed on what we'd do if their first counter offer wasn't within a certain range. It wasn't and that's when I got witchy and said I was insulted. It was a short exchange and we were leaving (as planned) because there were truly plenty of other Certified Cars in our area, and Don Jacobs had two of the exact car we were looking at, plus it had been on the lot a while and it was near month end. And we had weeks left to shop. We ended up coming to terms, thanks to Allison smoothing things over that the manager caused. (Again, part of this business, but still she did it so much better!) I don't understand why the car business hasn't learned from this process that it hurts their business. But, wow, having a woman like Allison made this experience reasonable, pleasant, and my nephew and I left there, with the car we wanted, within the price range we thought was fair, and feeling good about the experience. If you, like most, hate the car buying experience, then please give Allison a try if they have your model in stock. She's responsive, and good at what she does. And as a woman, buying a car from a woman was sooooooo refreshing, so different. I highly recommend Allison Thurman and the Certified Program at Don Jacobs. This is the second vehicle I have had a chance to purchase from this dealership and from start to finish, they provided extraordinary customer service, efficiency, and accommodation. The team was prompt, professional, and incredibly friendly from the moment I walked through the door. They addressed all my queries with care and precision, making me feel valued and heard. What truly stood out to me was the dedication of both the Chris (manager) and Sam (salesperson) from start to finish. We had a wonderful experience today at Don Jacobs Honda service center. We were traveling from NC towards IL and on 75 going North in our 2011 Honda Pilot when the check engine light started flashing and then started misfiring. My husband kept driving while I googled Honda Service center near me. Several sites sent us to Don Jacobs Honda in Lexington. I called very excited and nervous (we are in our 70's) and a very nice person, Desiree "talked me down" and said she would talk to the service center and see if they could work us in. When we arrived over an hour later, the service advisor Daniel Woods took all our information and put us in line for service. The mechanic Alex Deters did a wonderful job with complete inspection, new spark plugs, and updated PCM and we were on our way 3 hours later.
