We ate here last night and our service was excellent.... But then came the food. My husbands combo tasted worse than a frozen meal, my fajita's were ok but then I discovered a plastic baggy cooked in with my meat. Avoid this place if you have food allergies! We ate there a couple of years ago and I had a severe allergic reaction. I have a sea food allergy and while no one at the table ordered anything with sea food in it, I still had a bad reaction. I called the manager the next day to inform her about my reaction so they could prepare their food in a safer manner (avoiding cross contamination) and she only responded with stern denial that I was even in their facility that day. As for the food itself, it was OK at best but nothing better than any other Mexican restaurant chain I've been to. read more

This was the worst customer service I have ever had! All of the staff were super grumpy and rude. We got ignored most of the time and when our server did check in he sounded like hated life. Mexican food is usually our go-to choice on road trips, but steer clear of this place. All the food was drowning in terrible sauces. Even the seafood-stuffed pineapple was super disappointing. We noticed this place after exiting off of 35 when headed to my mom's house, and ended up eating here after she recommended it. She's been multiple times and didn't have anything bad to say about it. Our experience was great. There were four of us, and we got seated promptly on a Sunday night at dinner time. We went through the fresh chips and salsa quite quickly and were offered more once we ran out. My brother ad I ordered margaritas on the rocks, which were ok but a little weak. I had the Hawaiian Quesadilla, and it was good. The presentation was simple, but the ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were good. Was it the best Mexican I've ever had? No, but I also live in Atlanta where we're fortunate to have many excellent Mexican places to choose from. My only regret after reading a couple other reviews is that I didn't go for the chicken chimichanga, my all time favorite Mexican dish. I suspect enough people haven't reviewed this place, and if they did, you'd see a higher average on this restaurant. The customer service was good, the location is convenient, the food is on track, and I can't see any glaring issues with this place. read more

If you are looking for authentic mexican food, then this is the place to go. I have eaten at Don Julio's several times. Their wait staff is friendly and the food is always delicious and you can tell that it's been freshly preppared. I had a vegetarian taco bowl and an enchilada platter both are extremely delicious. The homemade salsa and chips that they give you while you wait for your food is delicious as well--I love fresh cilantro in salsa! read more

Good food as expected, however, worst service I can remember. It appeared no other waiter had this issue other than ours, but it started by him talking to his friend, who approach him in the middle of taking our drink order. Not one smile the entire time and seemed annoyed that's the we were there. He never came back after the food arrived, which my wife wanted another drink but never had an opportunity to order it. I had to flag him down for my check, after a few times walking right past our table without even a glance over. I tip based on the service, giving 20% for adequate, and up to 50% for outstanding. I've been here many times since they opened in north branch. Their food is great, their set up is great... the only thing i do not enjoy about Don Julios is their service. I mean its undertandable that their english isnt the greatest, thats not what bothers me. The waiters arent very friendly and dont talk much. I dont know if they are the cooks or not but the people who bring your food out are way more friendly. One guy came out with five plates of food balanced on his arm in a line. That was cool. I gave Don Julios a 4 because their food is great and the look of the restaurant is clean and nice. Id recommend it to anyone really. read more

I can't even tell you how much I love this place. We have been loyal customers from the time we were pregnant, and our baby is now 10 months old. The waiters all know us and pinch our baby's cheeks, and the waitresses all know us and spend time walking around with our baby and teaching her Spanish while we eat. Yes, it is that kind of place. Our baby's first solid food was salsa at Don Julio's and she LOVED it. Once or twice a week when we go there she demands salsa before Mommy and I can start eating. The food is always perfect, the staff is like family, and we always leave feeling that our patronage is appreciated. The drinks are perfectly mixed (original frozen Margarita), and they always offer up a huge signature premium Long Island Iced Tea to finish dinner with. We love all of our friends at Don Julio's and we will continue to dispense 20% of our disposable income into this restaurant as long as we live in the area. I am always excited when we get a chance to go. Don Julio's staffs itself with the best of the best; the kindest of the kind, and the most accommodating staff anyone could ever expect. They will always honor custom or unique menu requests, and they will always do so with a smile on their face. Tuesday is 2 for 1 Margarita's, so that is always a good night to patronize this place. They have coupons that are abundant and it makes it an even better deal. Sometimes I leave the place feeling like I must have ripped THEM off! Love you guys! You are the best! read more

We like the food at Don Julio's. Once our orders are taken we usually don't get service again until the bill is put on our table. The last 5 times we were over charged on our entrée by $1.00.We confront them every time we go there when we get the bill. They don't apologize. Were done! read more

The food was average, but the service was terrible. I was given the completely wrong meal and they did not even offer to make what I actually ordered. Maybe it was only this particular waiter, but he seemed annoyed to serve us and just stared at me blankly and said "oh," when I mentioned that I had ordered a Chimichanga with rice and beans, not 2 tacos and an enchilada. I probably should have asked to speak with the manager, but I was thrown off and uncomfortable with the way the server didn't apologize or offer any solution to the issue. He just walked away and never checked back in with us, aside from just dropping the check (with no discount for the wrong meal) on the table and walking away. I work in the service industry and am very understanding of the demands of working with the public, but I could not excuse his behavior or lack of concern about the customer. read more

Don Julios in Forest Lake is one of my favorite places to meet friends for free chips and salsa accompanied by the best ( be sure to order the top shelf) margaritas. However, I've been to the Don Julios in North Branch twice and was disappointed both times. The service is cool and abrupt. We sat at the bar for five minutes with no one bothering to say "I'll be right with you." We left without ordering. If you're wanting Don Julios, stick with Forest Lake until the North Branch location learns more about service. read more
