Don Nacho's Mexican cafe! "Don Nacho's" is a hidden gem in the heart of the city of Solvang. Upon entering the restaurant, you're immediately transported to a colorful, lively atmosphere that makes you feel like you've just arrived in little Mexico. The decor is a mix of traditional and modern elements, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The food is simply amazing. The menu offers a variety of Mexican dishes. Each bite is bursting with flavor and the perfect blend of spices. We had sopes fried taquitos and a Carne asada Burrito I was impress with their flavor and it's definitely must try when ever your in Solvang. Hey what a great little spot. I popped in for lunch and grabbed a carnitas burrito at the recommendation of the nice man at the counter. It was fantastic! Tender pork with all the fixens inside. You can't go wrong. Plus they have this bomb green salsa that put it over the top for me. In the town of Swedish or dutch buildings or whatever they are, this mexican place hit the spot. This little whole in the wall was good. The salsa was really yummy. Husband got a carne asada burrito which he enjoyed and I ordered the nachos no meat. I'm glad they put alot of cheese, usually places never give enough for nachos. It's a small place but was good food. read more

4.5 if possible, but we only had an order of carne asada nachos. We wanted a lite meal and this was perfect got 2. A great value and a great alternative to the overpriced wine country fare. The strawberry lemonade was also refreshing. read more

Recently stopped by this little cafe for lunch and we were not disappointed. It's located in a little cluster of businesses off Alisal Rd (use the back parking lot instead of fighting for street parking). We ordered the pupusas (pork) & the al pastor burrito. The pupusas come with a cabbage mixture and salsa that goes over them, along with rice & beans (honestly, the best beans I've had). The cabbage was a bit spicy for me, but 'spicy' and I don't mix well. The pupusas though, were really great without them. The burrito was ample & tasty, my son's new favorite. The owner was friendly & service was quick. Definitely our 'go to' Mexican place in Solvang. read more

Not that this place needs another great review because they are doing so well, but they are a little hidden. The service was excellent on both visits. The food amazing !!! We had sopes delivered asada very good meat for my preference I would have love the sope to have been a little more of the crispy side but regardless they were delicious.. the tortilla chips and salsa were delicious freshly made .. rice beans all good .. definitely give them a try. read more

Stopped off for Mexican food on our way home from Ojai- was excited to try Don Nachos due to their high ratings . The food was extremely bland - tasteless. From the chicken , to the Suisa enchilada , the fajitas, even the salsa had no flavor ... the tap water had a very unpleasant taste as well . I found this place after seeing an article posted online. I drive down Alisal regularly but hadn't seen this spot before. It's a cute location, but there is not very much seating. They are clearly very popular because I came on a Monday during the lunch hour and they were crowded. You order at the counter and then your food is brought out to you. My only complaint is that they don't include chips and salsa in your meal- you have to pay extra. I ordered the chicken burrito which was sooo good. My husband said it may be the best chicken burrito he's ever had. And their salsa has the perfect amount of spice. The staff were all very friendly. Parking could be a bit tricky, but Alisal does have a lot available out front if you can fight the tourist traffic. Prices are reasonable and the portions are pretty big. read more

I take my kids to Solvang all the time, so it was surprising when I saw an article online about how good the food was here. (I had never seen/been there) The decor and ambience felt like an authentic taco spot but the food was not so great. The carne asada and pastor fell short, pastor had no flavor and the asada tacos were also pooled in oil. The service wasnt great. They put all the tacos on one plate, didnt give extra plates and for our family they left 3 napkins. They came back and gave a tomato based blended salsa that had no texture or flavor. We spent over $40 and ended up not finishing our food (my kids never turn down mexican food) and ate elsewhere. Wouldn't go back. read more

Small spot for decent Mexican fast-food and vegetarian options. It's minimal ambiance and simple seating area. We shared a nacho plate with the meat on the side, and a guacamole side dish. I should have asked for more beans but it was a tasty dish. Only beer served plus sodas and tea. Service was okay and fairly quick. Only 4 tables for seating. Not busy when we were there. Not sure we would be back next time but it isn't easy to find many vegetarian/vegan options in this town. read more

You'll find this place nestled in the back of the shopping center. The chips and salsa; some of the best we ever had! Chips were airy, crispy and the salsa a tad spicy but so so good! Addicting we couldn't stop eating them. They have bottled beer too. Thankfully it cooled our mouths down a bit from the salsa. We order carne asada plate and the Carne con chile, both super good! I have live in Solvang for the last 7 months. This small family business is a hidden gem. I love their menu. I work in down town Solvang, it has become mine to go lunch break meal, after work dinner, when I have friends coming over, I recommend to tourists people. Flavor wise it is good, clean fresh food. Don Nacho's is very hard to find on Alisal Road, just look for the "windmill" on the roof and just across the street from the fudge store. I've read most of the Don Nacho's reviews and they've taken all the "wind out of my sails", so I'm not going to repeat all the other positive, My wife and I agree, their food offerings are some of the best ever. The refried beans and the green salsa are the best! I did order the (3) enchilada suizas, assorted meats, chicken, beef, and carnitas, unbelievably great! I was actually sad to see my empty plate, when I finished. My wife ordered the Nachos Supreme, again another big hit. Looking forward to our next "road trip" to Solvang and Don Nacho's !!! read more

Hole in the wall! I always love a hidden gem. Food was super tasty. Two of had tacos (no onion) and they were served with a tasty hot sauce on the side. Don nachos café first opened its doors to the beautiful city of Solvang in 2020. A family owned and operated restaurant with in mind to bring great, fresh, and traditional dishes inspired from Jalisco and Mexico City. A few popular are the enchiladas, sopes, fajitas, carne asada plate, and of course the delicious pupusa. All dishes made just like mom and where the recipes started with a delicious twist. It seems rather small, with one area for bar seating and small tables, plus a larger dining area "next door" to the bar, but I like the bar ambiance, so it may be challenging on busy tourist days. Luckily, I travel on non-busy days and have always had a good seat. The ambiance is great, with a typical, colorfully decorated pub feel with TVs offering an invitation to relax and have a pint - or two! The menu is varied, and I had planned for what I wanted, but when the server/bartender/boss offered the daily special as an option, I quickly jumped at the chance. The special was a queso dip with house-made chips, and I had to try it! Sadly, I also ordered my usual, the Cobb salad. Sadly, because after the "appetizer" arrived, I quickly realized the full consequences of the saying "your eyes are bigger than your stomach!" The dip and chips were plentiful in both, and for me would have made a great meal on their own. But I was committed and managed to finish the salad. On my previous visit, I had the mac 'n cheese and the Cobb salad, along with a Guinness dark! That was sooo tasty as well! The food at this visit was great, and the service was as well. Sam, who is the owner, bartender, server, and jack-of-all-trades, is always friendly, professional, and efficient, no matter how busy it is, and this visit was the only one outside the kitchen. If you're in the area, give them a try! And leave room for dessert - I have yet to do that, but you can learn from my mistakes!
