wonderful restaurant that deserves its spot on the michelin guide! everything was well worth the money and sitting through the heat for. you can find lots of public lots/street parking nearby! we came around 1:00pm as a table of 5 and beat the late lunch rush so we had no wait (to sit outside). some of the chairs do burn up if they're not in the shade so beware if you're wearing shorts or a skirt. we ordered three of their chicken sandwiches and one burger. i asked for my spice on the side since i didn't know how spicy it'd be, and they were able to accommodate! friends said the burger was the juiciest burger they've ever had, and everyone raved about the buns and the crispy potatoes. the salad was also really solid and helped break up the greasiness well. the chicken sandwich was incredibly juicy and held its crunch well. everything was fantastic! if you're willing to share as a table, i would have half of the people get salads and half get the potatoes. while they are good, the portions of potato are HUGE and we ended up having leftovers too! my one very minor gripe was i think the potatoes needed more salt out the fryer. that's literally it HA i'm okay with it being pricy because the chefs know what they're doing here for realsies. servers were nice as well! would definitely revisit to try something else read more

If you were to tell me that I'd visit Solvang twice in a year I'd say "yeah right". If you added that I'd also be dining at Peasant FEAST both those times I'd say "REALLY!!!?" PF is an exceptional restaurant that serves exceptional food. I've only been here twice and the second time was better than the 1st. My only disappointment was that I couldn't get what I got on my 1st visit in February. And ya know what? That's ok. It presented the opportunity to try new things! This time I got at their French dip sandwich with a side of potatoes. OOF! If it's on the menu do try it and wash it down with a cold beer (or wine is nice too). The service was as excellent as the 1st time and the vibe also perfect. The patio area is pet friendly so sure bring your fur baby along (they'll bring out some water for them too!) Overall: Yes there are many fine dining establishments in Solvang to try but I'm telling you...this is the only spot I want to stay true to. What an amazing spot! Was in town for a few hours and stumbled upon a friend's recommendation for Peasants Feast. Michelin bib gourmand for a good reason! I got the hot chicken sandwich and WOW. Chicken was perfectly fried and seasoned and the added cabbage and herbs made it feel so fresh and light. 10/10 recommend the sandwich. My parents got the grilled cheese, also delicious but still cannot get over the chicken sandwich. Got the frozen lime pie dessert and also was delicious. My favorite restaurant in Solvang has to be our lunch at Peasants Feast, especially with the appearance of the horse drawn carriage from our patio table. The pastrami smoked salmon sandwich does not actually have pastrami but the pastrami spices are present in each bite of the smoked salmon. It worked so well, I wish I didn't have to share but with so much good food, unless my stomach is bigger, sharing allowed me to try more things. I was so happy that we had an option to have a cup of butternut squash soup with that sandwich making it the perfect soup and sandwich combo. The shaved Brussel Sprouts salad is so addictive that I couldn't stop eating it and was a great way to get more veggies in our diet. Even though I over ordered to try everything I wanted, shaved Brussels Sprouts salad, halibut tacos and pastrami smoked salmon sandwich with a cup of butternut squash soup, I regretted not coming back for dinner to have it all over again. read more

This place is right downtown and has a lovely patio and dining area, and is always popular, so when I saw a chance for a late lunch without crowds, I jumped into action - and I'm glad I did! For my first visit, I am now a fan. The ambiance is nice and comfortable, with lots of natural light. I was quickly seated by a large window that looked out onto an area with tables for a bakery next door. Ideas for dessert? The menu is varied enough for folks, and I focused on the Gold Coast Grilled Cheese sandwich (sharp cheddar, gruyere, mozzarella, caramelized onions, parmesan crisp, The Baker's Table pain au levain vegetarian) with a choice of sides. I had also noticed a new offering, a creamy Fennel soup with local olive oil, and toasted almonds. I choose a cup of that soup for a side. The sandwich and soup came together, and the soup was steamy hot - literally! The sandwich has a side served up with grilled parmesan cheese, and the opposite side (or flip side, as I want to say) has the traditional grilled look. I have photos of both sides here. The soup was indeed creamy, and at one point I was trying to figure out how to answer someone who asks, "What does it taste like?" And I still don't have an answer. However, it does have a slight herbal licorice taste, but not at all overwhelming, and if you don't eat licorice, you may notice it but not be able to place it. However, if you don't like licorice, I think you would still enjoy this soup, as the flavor is very subtle. It was extremely delicious. The sandwich, with the parmesan crisp and mixed cheeses, was very cheesy, and I loved that. Overall, the food was outstanding and the service wonderful, with water refills on cue and quick service for ordering and closing out the bill. My server, Maggie, was top notch - thank you! I kept coming across peasants FEAST and knew my family and I had to add it to our list. They were Michelin recognized in 2024! We decided to check them out for lunch on a Saturday, we showed up right when they opened and got a nice seat outside on their patio. The restaurant slowly started filling up more and more after we got there so glad we arrived when we did! They do not take reservations so it is first come, first served. We ordered the Kids Orecchiette with Butter, Lil McFeast Burger and the Solvang Hot Chicken. We got some drinks on the side as well including the Fresh Squeezed Lemonade which my daughter was obsessed with. I really enjoyed the food - it was fresh and well seasoned throughout. I asked for less spice on my Hot Chicken, but it was still spicy and tasty! Overall, it was a good meal, not my favorite of the trip, but still worth checking out for sure! Me and my friends enjoyed mushroom tacos, carnitas tacos, a perfectly crafted burger, velvety butternut squash soup finished with pepitas and chili oil, Parmesan-crusted grilled cheese, and creamy mac n cheese. Luckily my friends love to share, so it gave me a chance to taste everything. My favorites were the butternut squash soup, burger, and tacos. No complaints with the other items, but these stood out the most flavor wise. It's best to get here early! Preferably just before noon, because it gets busy fast. Our wait time was about 30-40 minutes, so we wandered close by to check out some of the shops. Notifications are by text, which is convenient. If you are crunched for time, then check out their extended restaurant across the street. Peasants Deli & Market which offers sandwiches. This time, we made sure to make time for it and roughly around 11:30 am, we walked over and put our name down. Corn Soup $13 Pricey but delicious. Worth trying once. Pastrami Smoked Salmon $21 I'm a sucker for smoked salmon so I bit the bullet. Although I can't quite put my finger on how pastrami smoked salmon is different than your usual smoked salmon, I can tell that the fish quality is great, and it has the same smoothness that makes *smoked salmon superior to other forms of cooked salmon*. (*personal opinion but fight me if u think otherwise.) House Pickles $16 Something I would order again! I enjoyed how they had a variety of veggies pickled here and my fav to try was the cauliflower (very crunchy) and the beets. Usually I'm not a big fan of beets, but this pickled version had a great balance between sweetness and briney sourness. The portions for this one are better for a larger table, since it's heavy on flavor, and I couldn't finish it on my own. I had asked for it to go but they only provided a paper box, which is kinda bad for keeping pickles so ended up tossing some out before the drive back... I got the Lengua tacos and my sister for the pastrami smoked salmon sandwich. I thought the tacos were okay but needed more flavor and more salt. I thought the beans on the side were too salty for my liking. The flavor wasn't anything particularly unique. I took a bite of my sister's sandwich and it was delicious but didn't taste like anything that couldn't be made at home. I did appreciate the nice presentation of the food and the ingredients tasted fresh. I'm glad I tried it, but everything was just okay. By some stroke of luck, we arrived with a 0 minute wait at 12 on Valentine's Day (indoor seating was full but we didn't mind sitting outside). There's a cute sticker machine at the wait area, for a dollar you can get a random sticker in either the peasants farm/feast brand, or what I think are local brands and artists? We chose the local brands and the slight disappointment when a sole Enegren sticker was revealed, washed over us (none of us drink). But I enjoy it being there. Despite the chill there's plenty of heaters around that make the meal plenty enjoyable. The food is around $20-30 per person if you're being stingy like us and not ordering extras like drinks or starters. And the menu rotates daily I think, everything that was recommended to me by friends wasn't on the menu. But I felt pretty full with just half the fig grilled cheese for a meal and snaking on the rest later in the day. It was the perfect blend of savory sweet, like a cheesy geode with a rock exterior of Parmesan crispy bits flaking off and rich bread but inside was gooey soft cheese that was elevated with a satisfyingly sweet fig jam. The dipping sauce the potatoes were given is kind of boring, it looked colorful but felt like just a spicy mayo. The soup was a zappy blend of carrot, ginger, and turmeric? It felt like one of those health shots subdued down smooth with cream. Our server offered bread with it and we did assume it would be $5+ but it isn't listed in the menu to my knowledge. The hot chicken was really good though, there's a multifaceted layer where you can taste the sweetness of the bread, the kick of the pickles, the crunch of the breading, and finally the succulent chicken. On a lovely day in Solvang (not too hot or cold), we had to wait about half an hour for a table. First available turned out to be on the outdoor patio, which was fine with us. The patio area / tables are utilitarian and not fancy in any way. I was surprised to later go inside to use the restroom and find a very interesting dining room. It provided 1970's vibes with lots of live plants and wicker accessories. The food was solid five stars for this type of establishment. Both Dear Hubby and I had the Pastrami Smoked Salmon Sandwich. It was excellent. The seasoning of the salmon with the "pastrami" effect of peppery goodness brought amazing flavor to the sandwich. I have to avoid dairy, so I asked for the whipped cream cheese on the side. I'll admit to tempting fate by sampling it. So good! Wish that I could have fully dived into it as an aspect of the sandwich. DH had their house tomato soup as his side. I went with the potatoes. Both DH and Adored Granddaughter were stealing the nuggets of potatoes from my plate. That was fine as the quantity was generous. We ordered kids mac & cheese for her. The regular pasta option for kids is mac with a buttery sauce. She prefers cheese, so that's what they made for her. Unfortunately, (and this cost them a star) they don't offer cheese sauce as one of the kids meals options, and most children prefer cheese to butter. They charged the extra $3, but didn't bring her a side, which should have been included, especially for the price. The portion was extremely generous, and she barely made a dent in it. I personally would rather see them make the adjustment to the cheese sauce for kids and a smaller portion. Service was stellar. Our server was friendly, gracious, and very efficient. She checked back on us a number of times and made us feel welcome. Their menu is limited in each category. I picked them as I was looking for a great deli sandwich. We decided to try peasants FEAST because it was one of the places open a little later in that area and I am so happy we did. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We were given the option of sitting inside or outside. The menu is small, but there are great options! We started with the mac and cheese. It was seasoned well, and so creamy. My daughter doesn't normally eat mac and cheese, she decided to try it and ended up eating most of it! My husband had the Solvang Hit Chicken sandwich and he shared that it was just the right amount of heat and the potatoes were a nice touch. I had the Brussels salad with the fried chicken thigh. This was one of the best salads I've ever had and that chicken thigh...it was so good I had TWO. It was juicy and full of flavor. My chicken sandwich was okay, not really worth the hype and it was not spicey at all. Also, it was served a little lukewarm. My friends burger was just okay- tasted like a good diner burger. Their house pickled vegetables were good! And the fried potatoes were pretty good. The bacon dish is just one strip of bacon for $16. I was shocked when it was served. Haha.
