My usual Don Pan location is at the busy Sawgrass Mills Mall but this location was a few miles east. This was a magnificent store in Welleby Square plaza with plenty of unobstructed parking including two EV spaces. The bakery counter was fully stocked with the traditional pastries including Tres Leches, Diplomatico, Caramel Cheesecakes, Venezualan Empanadas, Cheese Tequeno and Ham Croquetas. The staff were super friendly and even brought out my espresso and Pan de Bono to my outside patio table, which was baked perfectly with a light crust and moist inside. Loved the black rear wall accented with white menu items and foody diagrams. The bathroom was clean and super spacious with beautiful gray tile.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Don Pan on Oakland Park and Nob Hill! I've been coming here for years, and it has always been one of my absolute favorite spots. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmth, and for me, that's almost always thanks to Sonia. Sonia is the sweetest, most professional, charismatic, and genuinely kind person -- she makes every visit special. Honestly, there are days I come in just because I know I'll get to see Sonia and have her take my order. She always makes me feel like a valued customer, and her positive energy is contagious. As for the food...phenomenal. My go-to is the Arepa Don Pan -- packed with flavor, perfectly made, and so filling. Today, I branched out and tried the Criollo for the first time, and wow... absolutely incredible! Every bite was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Their sweet bread and bakery items? Out. Of. This. World. I honestly don't think there's a single thing on the menu that isn't amazing. And to top it off, their prices are super competitive, which makes it so easy to keep coming back week after week. This place is a gem, and it's been consistently fantastic for years. You can also enjoy a calm and warm place to eat in their clean dining area. Thank you, Don Pan, and especially Sonia, for making every visit something to look forward to!

It was supposed to be pan de guayaba and I was waiting for the guaya , it was disappointing I feel like I lost my money on this. I bought 2 breads I brought them to Oregon to find this, a waste of time and money

I was away for more than 18 days and the first thing I do, is to visit Don Pan. the service is super and the staff, all those ladies who represent Don Pan are amazing. They always welcome me and calling me by my name since I am client since 10 years ago now. I started visiting Don Pan by Sawgrass Mall on Sunrise Blvd. They always treat me so well. I will never stop coming into this great place. I love Sonia and all the girls and even the kitchen staff. Amazing!!!!! Very happy and satisfied client.

Came here for lunch because I was craving some Latin dish and that's exactly what I got! Staff is friendly and place is clean and but pricey but definitely worth it.

Love coming here for a quick & authentic breakfast. A good amount of tables inside and outside, service is always friendly & quick. The food is always hot and their juices are always fresh! Only complaint is some items don't have the full ingredients listed, for example my boyfriend got the breakfast wrap and was taken aback with the peppers that were added in as they were not listed as an ingredient under the item on the menu. I'm sure it was in the mix with the potatoes but still would have liked to know beforehand. Still a great place for a small bite or lunch and they have an amazing assortment of sweet treats & desserts!

Yummy food, I tried the Cuban sandwich and Pan Con Croquettes! Both were super delicious. The restaurant is super clean and they have plenty parking in the front. Cashier was super nice and I'll definitely be back again soon.

Fantastic Hispanic bakery in Sunrise! This is the second of two locations & like it's other location near Sawgrass mall, they have a variety of products that take them beyond a basic bakery. They offer baked goods, a selection of breads, desserts, cakes, and full entrees with Venezuelan roots. It is an order at the counter establishment. If your coming for breakfast expect to wait in a mild line for a couple of minutes as it's a popular breakfast spots especially to the Latin community. They have some Hispanic/Venezuelan favorites including empanadas and other types of baked goods. They are also great for having a good selection of cakes including a full size tres leches cake. I personally order their cakes when it's my parents' birthday! I usually buy a couple of empanadas for breakfast or lunch. The empanadas, cheese or beef alike, here are a decent size, not too big and not too small but just right! They are more than filling if you have one or two. The beef ones are so tasty and they are well portioned! There's plenty of inside seating and a couple of outside seats.

I can't believe Don Pan don't have the Shredded Beef sandwich any more. They have the shredded beef, the white cheese and the bread but couldn't prepare the sandwich for us. We ordered the Pepito and is so salty is almost impossible to eat.

My go-to order every morning for work and it keeps me full all day! The cafe con leche is always hot and they make it just the way I want. The chicken avocado sandwich is delicious, the bread is a little thick, but the sandwich is amazing, perfect melted cheese, chicken grilled to perfection! I always add just a pinch of salt and pepper on the avocado spread for a bit more taste. They recently started adding fries to the order, and I'll be honest, the fries need to be fried longer and they aren't the best. I never eat them. I've also had the Cuban sandwich, and my goodness is it spectacular!

I have been coming here for years.... YEARS. I don't understand the negative reviews. This place never skips a beat. I mean, they are kind, clean, fair price etc.. since 2020, price has not gone up by much. What I don't understand is why the racist comments about the waitresses not speaking English well. It's a place that mostly caters to Hispanics. Even then, they welcome everyone and are kind to everybody. Please stop posting negative reviews on establishments that actually try. Just don't go if you're so pressed on workers not speaking perfect English smh. Do better. P.S., I don't speak a word of Spanish...

Order: Chaufa, Pernil Sandwich and Pabe Bowl I am a fan of the Sawgrass location, but it's little out of my way. I was happy to see that another store had opened closer to home. This is located in the Welleby Plaza at the corner of Oakland Park and Nobb Hill. A plus for them, as ample parking space is available. Upon entering the store, social distancing was enforced. It was clean and had a fresh scent. Dine-in was available, with mask off only when eating. The staff was very welcoming and greeted my mom and me as we entered. The store was brightly lit with warm tones that created a welcoming atmosphere. There was a black and white graphic wall of menu items to the back, suitable for a perfect photo opt. With so many options to choose from, it took us a while to order. While deciding on what to order, we were offered two complimentary slices of cake, which unfortunately was spoilt. I decided to still give them a chance by ordering food. After talking with the cashier we settled on the Chaufa, Pernil Sandwich, and Pabe Bowl. Once we placed our orders, it took approximately 10 minutes to receive our food. Everything smelled good and was fresh. Pabe Bowl is a mix of shredded pork, plantains, black beans, and white rice. Chaufa is a Peruvian fried rice mix and I added chicken. Pernil Sandwich - baked pork with lettuce and tomato. The meals were all well proportioned, and flavorful. My only complaint is, I found the Chaufa a bit soft and salty. Overall good service and meals were reasonably priced. I will go back. *** spoilt cake.

I WILL NEVER COME BACK. I truly don't know how these place has customers at all. Upon standing at the counter, I waited and listen for minutes, the old ladies at counter, talking about all of the personal issues and complains about their lives. I ordered a pepito sandwich, 10 minutes later, for my surprise was a disgusting sandwich of tasteless steak, bad or rotten cheese and a mess of ketchup and mustard on top, so freaking disgusting that I was unable to grab it w/o a mess of ketchup and mustard. In their menu, it says sauces never in my mind that may be ketchup and mustard. WTB, the onions and bacon where invisible. There where not included in the sandwich at all. read more

Un desayuno en Don Pan de la Not Hill Rd con Oakland Park con mi familia, se convirtió en una mágica celebración de mi 39 Aniversario de Bodas, porque fue tan estupenda la atención de las anfitrionas Diana, Juliet, Nazareth y Sonia; que tuve que contarles que el desayuno se debía a MY LONG TIME MARRIED y por la esmerada atención hacia ver que todo estaba planeado; pero no fue así porque nadie sabía nada. A pretty decent spot for grab and go breakfast. I always order the breakfast burrito. It's very fulfilling! I love the fact that they have fresh squeezed orange juice. The offer bowls, pastries, and various types of coffee. Theirs definitely a bit of a language barrier but that's no deal breaker for me. read more

Sooooo I decided to get my colada and fruit tart with my last 7$ before payday . Total came to 6.42 or something like that so definitely had enough , but the young lady working the register decided to tip her self I was a little embarrassed like wait I still owe u something and I'm like how if this is a debit card and I didn't have enough it would've declined at moment I didn't want to make a scene so I paid the extra money. Later on I saw my charge on my card and realized this girl tipped herself that's not cool at all !!! read more

My fiancée had breakfast and I craved lunch so I had the Churrasco and for the price I paid I truly enjoyed my meal. This place is fairly new but the experience is not. Went today for empanadas which are very good! Meat, cheese and pabellon are our favorites. However, I ordered 2 maltas and was shockingly surprised for the price. $4.98 plus taxes for a can of malta! Which is produced here jn Florida! Not even an imported product! You can find a six pack of these at walmart for $6! read more

Absolutely no kind of social distancing practices and guidelines based on CDC recommendations. A few kitchen staff without masks, male manager was extremely rude when we talked about masks with him and tables are not being sanitized. This place needs to SHUT DOWN !!! read more

Ordered toasted bread and butter and bread was stale. I also, specifically asked it it can be extra toasted and it's not. It just shows the people who work here just really don't care and do the bare minimum. I'm not sure how this early in the morning the bread can be stale, but it is. I really wanted to give this place a second chance, but definitely not worth it. read more

I would give them five stars if it wasn't for the fact that they continue to leave products out on top of the counter without a cover for example the sweet bread/pan de Gloria. I only order it if they have one inside the case because they just leave the entire tray out on top of the counter without any kind of cover so everyone's talking over it and exhaling over it which is disgusting. They should take a tip From the one in sunrise which keeps everything that's on top of the counter covered in Saran Wrap read more

I love don pan going there for 20 years sawgrass location but this on is close to me been there 4 times and pastries are always always old, stale and dry. I always ignore it but this time after spending $30 on them i decided to review it other locations never have this problem. read more

we spent four days in SoFla, all four days we had breakfast here. Venezuelan treats: Arepas, Cachitos, Cachapas and Empanadas (empanadas fried to a beautiful golden perfection). The "love of my life" was concerned about gaining a few pounds, the pleasure was too much for her. Even on Easter Sunday, our last day, we were going to go somewhere else... and then she remembered their perfect espresso coffee... "Marron"... like a latte, but with less milk and enough kick... so we came back for our last breakfast. read more

Hidden gem ! Had the pleasure of trying there infamous empanadas Venezuelan style , experienced a very unique dough like no other flavors of energy in every bite , complimented with a authentic garlic sauce to go along with with it! Was very disappointed because I felt there was a language barrier between the cashier and I. Asked for 4 empanadas 4 ham Croquettes 4 pastilles. Price tag $60!!! I asked the cashier to repeat the price 3 times she still quoted me $60! When asked her to show me the price breakdown she was quoting $10 a empanada..NO WAY! Walked away. When I looked online the prices were no where near the price they quoted. read more

I frequented this establishment more often before COVID. As well as, the Sawgrass location, not sure what happened but their empanadas use to be amazing. They seem to be different now, not sure if they changed their recipe or what but they are not good. I will be going to the Sawgrass location to see if they are any better. Super disappointed! read more

These people are rude and truly incompetent. They messed up my uber eats order countless times and one day i called to complain because it wasn't the first time. As soon as I told them my issue, the girl on the phone who seems to be the only person there that speaks english, started talking crap to the other co workers in spanish. I let her think i didn't speak any english just so i could hear and they were very unprofessional, rude, and kept calling me names. They didn't even know what they had on uber eats, they didn't know that their food doesn't have any descriptions on them..? The only good thing I give about this place is the delicious food, but be prepared to have your order wrong or have some sort of altercation with them (if you only speak english good luck). read more

I usually go to the Don Pan on University, however I decide to get something to eat for lunch. I got the steak and eggs with potatoes and let me just say it was VERY salty. Brought it up to the cashier and she said there was nothing she can do unless I decide to pay again. I won't be coming indefinitely and will go back to my usual spot. read more

I saw people sneezing and coughing up the sample food on top of the counter perfect for coronavirus spread. also people grab that food by hand. Not only that,the person who charges is the same person who serves the food. Judge yourself! read more

To add to the confusion, numbers were being called out in Spanish, which I don't speak. Once you know how it works, it's probably fine--but as a first-timer, it was a bit confusing. That said, I'd absolutely go back for the food--just probably not on a busy weekend!

The spinach/feta quiche and the carrot ginger soup were both very good. My mimosa was perfect and was the perfect accompaniment for the finger sandwiches. The scones were warm right out of the oven and were so delicious that I'm still thinking about them a day later. I really enjoyed all the finger sandwiches with their different fillings, it's hard to pick a favorite. The tea was perfect the hardest part was picking one from the vast array of choices. They also have a cute little gift shop area that's worth checking out. Among the things they sell are a nice selection of assorted teas. I can't recommend this place enough and like I said, Brian will do whatever it takes to make sure you have a memorable experience.

I am writing to express my concerns and frustration with a specific employee at your Oakland Park location. Over the past several visits, I have experienced consistent and troubling behavior from this staff member that has made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I feel it is important to bring this matter to your attention in the hopes that it can be addressed. The employee in question has frequently engaged in conversations about me in Spanish, knowing that I do not speak the language. On multiple occasions, she has made comments about my husband, who is Black, and I strongly suspect that these conversations are not friendly or respectful. Her body language and the way she speaks with other employees in my presence suggest a level of discomfort or hostility that I find deeply unsettling. Additionally, I have had multiple issues with my orders being messed up, and I am beginning to believe this is deliberate. I consistently order the same items: a chicken empanada, a coffee, and a croqueta (one of each). Despite this, I have had incorrect items given to me on more than one occasion. Most recently, I ordered a chicken empanada but was given a beef one. After returning it, she gave me another empanada, but it was once again the wrong item--a cheese empanada instead of chicken. On that occasion, I was already too far from the restaurant to return, and when I called to explain the mistake, she was not helpful and hung up on me multiple times. I have made a conscious effort to reduce my visits to this location because of the constant discomfort I experience whenever I walk in. The behavior of this employee is contributing to an environment that feels unwelcoming, and I do not believe it is appropriate for an employee to treat customers this way based on assumptions about their language skills or background. I sincerely hope that you will look into this situation and take appropriate action. I enjoy the food and coffee but the ongoing negative experiences with this employee have made me reconsider returning. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Worst service ever!!! I have gone three times and I always have problems with my phone order. First time: order was wrong, second time: they took almost an hour and today I was waiting for my order and I see this guy coming to the store saying he got the wrong stuff. It happened to be that his stuff was mine and the lady just took it from him and gave it to me like nothing! I mean really? We are in a pandemic, this guy took the food out of the place, brought it back and they just gave it to me! the same bag!!!!! I'm still in shock! I asked them to switch it and they gave me a wrong order!!! Is like this people not only think we are stupid but they are truly sure we are! Don't let them get you!!
