Tonight I revisited this taco shop and gave it another chance. Wow! I was not disappointed. This time around I ordered a surf and turf burrito, I bit into it and was so pleased with the awesome flavor. The chipotle sauce they used complimented the shrimp and carne inside the burrito. This was by far a very good tasting meal. The size was not to small and not to big just right. My wife ordered a beef taco that she enjoyed very much. The tortilla was tasty and crispy and not full of grease, plenty of beef(perfect). Five rolled tacos with everything was devoured by my 15 year old and he gave them a thumbs up! Beans and rice were very tasty. All in all very good! My first review was two stars for the Cali burrito but for this meal definitely five stars I highly recommend this place. read more

Easy location. Very nice staff. Their food is good. Fish tacos are very good and are stacked. Horchata is really good too. Enchilada sauce has a nice flavor. Great place to stop and grab a bite. Amazing surf and turf burrito, my husband and I would drive down to Imperial beach just for that. But today, the phone order was incorrect and when it was picked up, lady who took the order has the nerve to argue back saying "no no I repeated the order twice" my husband ordered it in Spanish so there's no miscommunication .... but seriously? Why would you even argue about our order? That's the only burrito we eat from there? I just wished they can be more classy about this type of situation. Instead of correcting the order right away, she just kept arguing!! She's was a turn off!! So for the callers, make sure you record your order before this lady tries to argue with you. The surf and turf burrito is the best Burrito I have ever had. I'd still go back. So every time I come here I get charged different prices for the same exact thing , even today I told them that and I told them give me the same each thing and somehow it was still a different HIGHER price with what I wanted . The food is good but I'll never come here again because they obviously don't know how to ring things up in their system . I clearly explained to them I wanted the same exact thing and showed my past receipts . And still they charged me a higher and different price then the other receipts I had lol. The food is just bad. Worst taco shop in the south bay and I grew up here. Place is fine, employees are find, but the food is just bad. People only come here because the location. I've always been afraid to try this place based on what it looks like from the outside so would always drive by it on the way to Cotijas on Saturn. But dang, Don Panchos is so close to the Cays I just had to give it a try. I called in the order which was a good idea because this place was hopping. Mostly military based on all the uniforms which told me this was going to be good. Got the carne asada quesadilla, rolled tacos (just like my wife likes it) and a garlic shrimp burrito. The food was fresh, warm and tasty. The salsa was different as well. Spicy and smoky. I feel like I lucked out this time but will be trying this place again and getting some other feedback from others. Definitely worth a try. read more

Even one star is even far and above tolerable. Had a Chorizo Burrito which should been easy to drum up. But no, it was dry and they stuff the poor burrito with mixers which a homeboy from the 70's have never imagined. Don Pancho is turning in his grave how his shop is turning out poor quality food. This place is always busy and for a good reason! The food is really good for fast Mexican food and they have a lot to choose from. The customer service is great and my only complaint is that they often get our at least 1 of our orders wrong when we go. I advise checking your order/food in the car before you leave. I've ordered from this place for many many years. This morning I called to get a machaca burrito. I was told it would be ready in about 10 minutes. Head to the place on my way to work. As I get to the front window, I'm looking to see if my order is ready, and see the cook on his phone, he notices me and puts his phone down. Two seconds later, the front clerk comes to see, but kept my eyes on the cook. He casually grabs a tortilla and continues to "cook." I mentioned this to the front clerk and all she does is apologize. I even told her the cook saw me see him and instead of going and wash his hands, he's continuing touching food. I thought to myself, what else does this cook touch while cooking. I immediately changed my mind, told her I would be reporting this, walked back to my car without my machaca burrito. They just lost a loyal customer. read more

Been to several Mexican places around San Diego. I figured I use yelp enough, that I should probably start leaving reviews. I'm a big fan of this place. Aside from being very reasonably priced (and very well portioned), it has absolutely delicious options. I usually go with my girlfriend, who gets, and absolutely loves, the veggie burrito which is about 4.99. I stick with the Surf and Turf Burrito. The rice in the burrito is key to how delicious the final product turns out, especially when mixed with the chipotle sauce. I've also ordered their nachos, which can be substituted for fries. Chipotle Chicken is the way to go. I'd definitely recommend eating it there, or shortly thereafter, though. Their fish tacos are really good as well. All in all, my favorite place in San Diego to go for Mexican food. read more
