On this occasion we had an unfortunate encounter with some delicious, rusty, dirty and overheated pork rinds from the day before. They had a bad smell, the refried sweet potatoes were chewy, blackish, emitting a bad smell due to the reused compound oil. Pork rinds completely unfit for human consumption. When certain foods are reheated or refried a second time, the food becomes toxic to the liver and what you are eating is cancer or some condition to people's health. This DonPepePeruvian restaurant located in Monroe NJ was the worst in serving this type of food. 25 E Railroad Ave Jamesburg. What these unscrupulous people do not know is that they commit health violations by selling recyclable food with the so-called Overcook (overcooked). Reluctantly returning the money and taking offense makes the situation worse. They didn't even apologize. Just in case they are in the US, they are not in Peru where there are no rights. Be thankful I didn't take you to the FDA and Consumer Affairs where they test the food and shut you down on your bussiness. The dog food is more decent than what these people sell. Be very careful with this site. Very unfortunate because that's how they lose customers and the presumed prestige they gain is lost by irresponsible employees who, playing "Pepe the smart" they think they're going to win. This is reference to what I saw on the kitchen side. Please tell your kitchen staff who are handling people's food to keep their mask on at all times. The positive note is that they have a mask sign and hand sanitizer at the front end of the restaurant. I really looked forward to going to this restaurant. unfortunately I feel like I had to take the time to post this review first of all they have a huge bar. I'm sure it cost a lot of money to have a liquor license in New Jersey and yet no one suggested either a wine list or a bar menu or asked us if we wanted anything to drink from the bar. That seems like a big loss for the restaurant, and honestly for the waiters who would get a better tip on a bigger bill. Next came the food. We had to wave down a waiter to take our order and then we waited and unfortunately waited some more. We ordered an appetizer. It came out after our main meal in addition, although the chicken was delicious, the rice on the plate was cold. I really did want to be able to write a good review. There was no manager on staff. We would have liked to have told that person what was going on because we would like to have a great Peruvian restaurant in our area. Restaurant has a chill ambience and the staff were great. I'm a big fan of the chicken chaufa and their rotisserie chicken, which I've order for takeout plenty. The food is always prepared quickly and tastes amazing. As for the desserts, the tres leches cake was great. Called to order take out and the phone just kept ringing and then a lady picked up and asked me to hold and then hung up on me. I tried calling again and got the message that the VM is full soon decided to drive there. I ordered the beef, chicken and shrimp fried rice and waited for 45 mins before I got my food and when I got home, they gave me a beef and chicken fried rice with no shrimp but they charged me for it and it's not the first they did this. The food is good here but they need to get rid of the phone person, she can't get an order correctly regardless if you order in English or Spanish. No apology for the extended long wait, they just don't care. While I was waiting, a customer left due to the wait and another customer wanted to order a smaller lunch portion of ceviche instead of the dinner portion for $15 and they won't accommodate him so he left, money out the window and bad business practice. There food is delicious. Plentiful, tasty and well priced. The problem is they rip you off on price. It the meal is $16.99, she is charging $20 with tax. 7% on $16.99 is $1.19, total of $18.18. I have brought this to her attention and she continually does it. I sent my friend in the other day and again she said $20. My friend said no, it should be $18.18 with tax. She said, oh the price went up because of the price of lettuce! Now I really like the place, but she doesn't seem to get it. So if you go in, be sure you know what you should be paying! read more

A total hidden gem- the food is absolutely amazing even though this place is tiny and in the middle of a random strip mall. I got the 1/2 chicken, yellow rice, plantains, and salad. It was more than enough for two hungry adults. The plantains were PERFECTLY cooked!! All of the food was so simple and plain but wildly delicious. The salad was so basic but so delicious. I don't know what dressing they used but it was great. The chicken was beyond amazing as was the rice. This place is fantastic and a great find. A wonderful noode dish chock full of seafood, onions, and tomatoes. The paella was quite tasty also. A wide array of seafood with rice cooked perfectly. All around it was an excellent meal. Wow this food was excellent! We ordered the beef, chicken, and shrimp fried rice and it was humongous enough to feed 6 but the flavors were excellent. I've never had fried rice like this and you can taste the Peruvian and Chinese influences! We also ordered the chicharron de pollo which was super tender, light, and flavorful fried chicken. Lastly we got the 1/4 chicken with fries and the rotisserie chicken is juicy and super flavorful! The sauces that they bring with everything are so unique! The chicharrones were way over salted - seems like they were covering up bad quality. The onions were the highlight of our meal. The bread was probably bought from a supermarket 2 days ago. But I didn't like how our server was trying to make us pay for every cup of water we ordered by getting bottled. We had to flag her and stop her from opening it. It's tucked away in a strip mall with an awkward layout, it shares and entryway with a nail salon. The food is pretty good. The service was better then expected. I had friends that came here and said the service was slow. Try the ceviche, it was delicious. The drive wasn't to bad. I live in East Windsor and is very hard to eat spanish food around here, peruvian is even harder. Tonight my boyfriend and I were in the mood for some peruvian food so we decided to give this place a shot. My boyfriend ordered arroz chaufa especial and I got cau cau which is one of her weekend specials. The arroz chaufa was very bland, I think it needed more soy sauce, however the cau cau was the best one I have tried in the US. One bite took me back to the homeland. My girlfriend and I truly live this place. We have been getting take-out once a month for the past few years. It's a definite hole in the wall and far from fancy but their rotisserie chicken (need the green sauce) is the best we have ever had. Fried yucca is amazing every time. Their white rice and black beans are delicious and if anyone knows their Spanish food, that is hard to find.
