The inside has the typical takeout pizza counter for quick, casual dining. The sit down experience you need to be or should dress up. Perfect for a family gathering, or a date with your special one. A friend and I grabbed some lunch at The Doughfather and overall, it was good. They offer indoor dining near their pizza counter if you are just there to grab a couple of slices, but also have a separate dining room for the full restaurant service. I had a Stillwell slice and buffalo chicken slice, both of which were fresh and tasty. The buffalo chicken slice however was not spicy at all, so I'd consider getting a side of buffalo to dip/drizzle to add a kick. I also had their in house orange soda which was very good! My friend had a Sicilian slice, grandma slice, and root beer, all of which he enjoyed. We also grabbed 3 plain slices to go and the total was a little over $40, which was a little higher than expected. They have a large variety of slices which is enough to draw me in for another try. Everything is phenomenal here. The eggplant pizza is UNREAL, you must try it. If you eat gluten free, try the cauliflower pizza margarita style. I have friends who aren't GF and still pick this over regular pizza now. It's my go-to! read more

The food in the sit down section is superb! Unfortunately, the sandwiches are hit or miss. Got a cheesesteak last month which was excellent, then two more a couple of weeks later that were both very chewy steak and nowhere near as much meat on either one as our first and when we called the next day, no manager there but we left our complaint and never heard back from anyone. Today, we picked up a Sicilian pizza and calamari. Pizza was very good but calamari was the chewiest we've ever eaten. Based on previous experience, we thought it useless to call about it. Guess we will stick to restaurant side and just pizza for pickup. It's a shame because we really thought we found the best cheesesteak in decades, but just not consistent enough for us. Was very disappointed in our pickup order yesterday. Ordered 3 Paulie chicken sandwiches and asked for balsamic on the side. All three came with balsamic on the sandwich - they were all very soggy. My daughter ordered penne with her dinner and received angel hair. My son's ham and cheese sub had one slice of ham and one of cheese-very skimpy. It had nothing else on it and the woman taking the order did not ask what we wanted on the sub so we assumed it had lettuce, tomato, dressing, etc. the meatball sub and eggplant parm sub we ordered were good however. I'm always looking for a few pizza place and the doughfather came up on my radar when they moved locations from spotswood to Monroe. I called in my order because I had issues with their menu (fyi--their menu on Googles ordering system is not for the right location, use their website instead). We ordered the verde pizza, which was the favorite, and the doughfather. We weren't aware that the doughfather had meat on it, as their website just states it is cream of porcini, parmasean and "space" (is space a meat that I'm unaware of??). So for meat avoiders, just be aware. I also asked for it to be ready at 6:15-which was almost an hour from when I ordered, as I wanted to be sure it would still be warm but when arriving, our pizzas were already slightly cooled. So by the time it arrived at home, they were very lukewarm. Taste was good but needed some time in the air fryer! read more

Was looking for some decent white pizza slices and I will share that Doughfather was the best in the area, perfect blend of mozzarella and ricotta on a thin crust, I also ordered pepperoni slices, plenty of pepperoni evenly spaced, again on a thin crust. The place is divided in two: left side is a typical looking Italian pizza/take out place; the right side is a cool stylish sit down. And the FOOD! We started with the Doughfather Calamari, which is very light costed and served with a dark sweet and spicy sauce, perfectly cooked. It was deliciiius! For mains, I had the Chicken Doughfather, which was lightly breaded cutlet, topped with prosciutto and a thin slice of eggplant and finally fresh mozzarella. Pasta of choice, all in the best vodka sauce I've ever had. Staff was confidant and attentive. I have nothing but good things to say about the Doughfather. We will be back soon. The owner/manager of this place, Dina, repeatedly argued with me about my review of July 21, then she removed all her insulting comments so no one can see them. Yelp exists so that customers can share their fair reviews, which is what I have done. This service is necessary, more now than ever because since Covid, across the board, prices have gone up, and quality has come down. The paying customer is being gouged everywhere. If this venue listens to what customers are saying about their food, they should be amenable to the changes that would make them a good dining restaurant instead of just a fair one. But they'd rather argue. I really wanted to like this place like the elderly population from the retirement communities, but their expectations are evidently different than mine. I appreciate a meal away from home, but for the prices we pay, I expect fresh, premium ingredients, and a culinary art to cook and present them in a flavorful way. Out of eight entrees, not one was without problems. Restaurants that give you huge portions buy low quality ingredients (for much less money) so they can afford to make the dishes overflow to impress you with "abundance." Or, they are trying to impress you with an overflowing dish, compensating for lack of flavor because the cooks are untrained. Discussion done. I am California. I was traveling here for work. I met with some business associates. I had the pork chop. It was so delicious , tender and the best pork chop I have ever had!!! I have eaten many in my lifetime and nothing compares. I can't stop thinking and talking about it. I also had the octopus and it was so flavorful and delicious. My wife and I had dinner in the new Doughfather restaurant's Dining Room. We enjoyed our entrees of Eggplant Parmigiana and Bronzino. My wife said that her Bronzino was the best she's ever had. Our dinner began with a complimentary salad and warm Italian bread. Service was friendly and efficient. We live in the area and have enjoyed their pizza and sandwiches before.
