Don Pollo has great food and a great atmosphere. Their perfectly grilled chicken and colorful sides There are a lot of different tastes in comfort food, from the sour sauces to the warm atmosphere.

Don Pollo serves food that tastes just like homemade food: authentic to their Peruvian culture, comforting, and consistent. I've tried their 1/2 chicken with sides like rice, beans, and potatoes, and it's very wholesome. It's a great option for anyone looking to refuel with lean protein after a workout, especially since they skip unhealthy sauces. In a time when many restaurants are skipping quality, Don Pollo stands on top. My only recommendation is better plating. Still, it's a solid go-to spot I'll keep coming back to. Highly recommend!

We've come here a number of times and the chicken and bowls have been consistently good. Today, I got a half chicken with two sides - cole slaw and roasted vegis. My partner got the quarter chicken with mashed potatoes and roasted vegis. We ordered and got ice water from the large container always available near the register. Shortly after we sat down, our food arrived. (Quicker than normal. It can take a bit if you order a bowl or if the place is crowded. Today it was not busy). The food looked good as it was presented to us. Each meal came with a container of two sauces each - one mild and one spicy. The chicken was cooked well and was nice and juicy. The Cole slaw was good, as were the mashed potatoes. We both thought that some of the vegis (in particular, the broccoli) was overly salty. The vegis brought down what would have been an almost perfect chicken meal. Well orepared, nice, meaty pieces of chicken, large and tasty sides. Just a bit heavy on the salt on the vegis. I'm not going to ding them for the saltiness - some people like that. Overall, a delicious and filling meal. The place is comfortable. Large wooden tables, each table with plastic cutlery in a container and a spool of paper towels. (Things can get messy either way the chicken.). This doesn't happen every time, but our table was bussed by a person I assumed was a manager. Other times, we were invited to leave the plates and trays at the table when we left. The staff here is generally cordial and helpful.

(5/5) The Gaithersburg Don Pollo is my go-to spot! I always order 3 beef and 3 chicken empanadas with the green sauce -- it's my favorite combo, and honestly, it never gets old. The empanadas are crispy, flavorful, and super satisfying. I've also tried the fried rice -- it's definitely on the salty side, but still really good and full of flavor. Makes a nice add-on if you're extra hungry. Quick service, consistent food, and that green sauce? Chef's kiss. Highly recommend if you're craving something quick and delicious. The seating inside is nice as well. Good environment

Tuesday 7/9/2024 I made an in-person order for takeout and the service was decent. I got a whole chicken with 2 sides (fried rice & plantains) $28.95 and a beef empanada $3.50. - The chicken was solid but I've had had better from others Peruvian spots. - the yellow sauce was my favorite as it was mild and flavorful. The green sauce was more on the spicier & tangier side which I wasn't a fan of. - the sweet fried plantains were made pretty well but I just wish they were a bit softer instead of harder cause that's how I like them. - The fried rice was underwhelming, bland, and mediocre. Tip: add the yellow sauce to it and witness a tasty combination. - the beef empanada was a small, decent snack that went very well with the sauce that came with it. Overall, this is a cool spot but I couldn't see myself coming back as it's a step down from other places like Sardis for example but that's just me tho.

Don P. Id always a solid choice for a lunch outing. This specific location delivers some of the fastest and most friendly service out there. Half chicken with yucca, rice, and beans is my go-to, but anything you get will be a good time. Great location with patio seating it offers a great atmosphere on a hot summer day. The only reason why this spot is not a 5 stars for me is because of consistency. The chicken is not always 5 out 5, but it will always be a good meal.

What a great restaurant! We came here for the first time on a busy, rainy day and it was just what we needed. This place was fast casual but still had a hole-in-the-wall feel. You choose your drinks before ordering and they have a variety of international and regular drinks to choose from. The lady who took our order was very nice and explained the menu thoroughly, and we didn't go wrong by listening to her suggestions on what to get. There are a LOT of options on the menu, but we both did the 1/4 chicken + 2 sides because of all choices of sides (we did macaroni and cheese, plantains, chaufa, and fries as well as the cucumber salad) as well as a cheese and a chicken empanada. Everything was absolutely delicious - the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sides were all tasty in their own way, and the 2 provided sauces were also flavorful. The restaurant itself was very clean and large, and the prices were very reasonable for the large amounts of food we got. We will certainly be coming here again!

While on our way to grab some burgers, we caught a whiff of delicious chicken and decided to check out this chicken spot. Upon entering, we were pleased by how clean the establishment was. We placed our order and decided to take it home. The chicken was cooked to perfection - it was tender, moist, and full of flavor. We also enjoyed the sides the Yucca, macaroni and cheese, black beans, rice, and fried plantains. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and moist, but it lacked a bit in terms of flavor. Along with that, we also ordered a cheese empanada and a beef empanada. Both of them were delectable. Initially, we weren't given our empanadas, but the person who took our order saw how quickly we were leaving and ran after us to make we came back to the counter fetched for the empanadas. We were impressed by the customer service and the speed at which our order was prepared. The place was also very clean. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend it to others. I will definitely come back here.

Chicken is always flavorful and never dry - when I go there. Their salads are delish and fresh. I wish the dressing container was a bit larger. Staff is friendly and the establishment is clean. Best time to go is around 11:30 :-)

This Don Pollo is superior to the other locations I've been too, and possibly one of the best char broil chicken spots in the area. Their food options are better, more flavorful, and delivered hot quickly to your table. The menu here has items other Don Pollos don't, and the environment is a bit more refined. Worth a try.

The staff is very childish and very loud. The food is OK. There is more other places better just around.

This hails as the best Peruvian chicken and I stand corrected. This beats Picca now. Their price and flavor is the best in Montgomery county. Their yucca is crispy and fresh and their fried rice beats Picca. You all must try this different Don Pollo franchise as this is definitely the King of all Peruvian restaurants in Montgomery County, Maryland. Their chicken extremely flavorful and very juicy. They steam and grill their vegetables and butter it very very well. Just overall 5 stars.

The lomo saltado was well executed. The beef was tender, the fries were crispy, and the classic mix of soy sauce, onions, and tomatoes gave it that authentic Peruvian flavor. The portion size was generous and satisfying. The chupe de langostinos stood out. It was rich, creamy, and packed with shrimp, which is important because many places skimp on seafood in this dish. It had a deep, comforting flavor and felt very traditional. The place itself is small and casual but welcoming, and the service was friendly. Overall, it's a good spot in Rockville if you're looking for authentic Peruvian flavors. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.

Nice set-up but they are still awaiting their liquor license (as of Jan. 2026), so they only serve non-alcoholic juices, sodas and water (for now) and hot teas on the weekends. The servers are very sweet and really know the food and menu. However, I did observe they are either a bit inexperienced, or the place is still getting things in order-- as they carry the food out without trays. I observed one server carrying a soup very close to the rim with bare hands. Now, for the food. An excellent array of varied dishes from different regions of Peruvian cuisine. My husband and I have tried our fair share of Peruvian food both in Peru and across various U.S. states. It's our go-to-food. The food here had its highs and lows. The Good & The Bad: Grilled octopus was delicious with a generous portion of everything served on sizzling skillet. Chorros à la chalaca (fresh mussels) served with pico. Both had a lovely presentation and savory flavors. Lomo saltado (sautéed beef tenderloin pieces) with fettuccine à la Huancaina served over a bed of fettuccine in a spicy cheese sauce (IYKYK). The Huancaina sauce was on point as was the sauce for the lomo--The (lomo) beef however was not. Beef was overcooked and tough to chew. And being a Peruvian spot the Classic Ceviche was a work of art but the flavor and the spice-level was lacking. Finally, I asked for a side of sauce and was charged for 2 oz. of sauce. They also tacked on a service charge fee for a table of two. Overall, the ambiance was nice and friendly but the food coming out of the kitchen did not warrant a $130 bill. Honestly, the prices are comparable for this kind of food. But I would expect better product and less hidden fees. I hope this small business will keep improving I'd love to give it another chance once they work out the kinks-- but judge for yourself!

One bite of each was enough to stop eating them! Then along came dinner..... Lomo Saltado and it was more disappointing than the appetizers! The steak chunks were not seasoned, the dish was very dry and the fries and vegetables were not seasoned. This meal doesn't even rate 1 star and they should be ashamed of their service and products!! The meats, now y'all know, if you have been reading any of my reviews that I like my steak/meats a particular sort of way. just to preference! I got their Lomo saltado and the steak was TOUGH, not uneatable tough, but tough enough to not really enjoy my meal. But besides the meat being tough, I couldn't really taste the aji amarillo flavor and didn't have much flavor in general, just a little salty. The fries were great crispy on the bottom and were prepared well. For a dish that's almost $30, they should use a better cut of meat. overall, not a great experience 2/5. My wife got their steak skewers and similarly, the meat was too tough, and didn't' have too much flavor. also very mid. Overall, the place was cute but just lacking in terms of their food. I wanted to wait and give a review after the first time as I hoped it wasn't one of those, ("the first time it was great! The second time...not so much.), let me reassure you that was not the case with Autentico! On my first visit, I had a seafood selection, and it was so fresh and so good! I was also checking out my buddy's chunks of beef that were part of his meal, and wanted that too! He gave me a chunk and it was so tender, juicy and good, I knew on my next visit, I would have to order some form of their steak! The service was spot on, and food order time to table, was exceptional! My next visit came yesterday, and yes I ordered a steak! It was a late Friday afternoon, and even though they were busy with a few large tables of people, service was still outstanding and the food was even better than the first time! If you have read some of my reviews, by the time I think to take pictures, there's not much left to take a picture of! Also, I know some people just take pictures and not much else, and while something can look really good in a photo, you have to dig into it to unearth what's really good about the dish, and everything I have tried at Autentico, was superb! I ordered the NY Strip with fries and instead of the rice that comes with it, I asked if I could substitute veggies for the rice? They said no problem! While the first time I had a couple bottles of their Corona, which was very cold and was also provided with a frosted glass, this time I asked for a Modelo Especial. I was told they had it on tap! Major points, as I love all of Modelo's products especially the stouts! It was just my buddy from work this time and me, and we had such a great meal and the ambiance was awesome! I had joked my first time visiting there while driving in, that there was an Irish resturant right next to it! I mentioned that we should go there after for a couple pints. We never got around to it, as we were too full both times to make it in. But that resturant is in the back of my mind for a future visit! So if you do go to Autentico, you won't be disappointed.
