4.8.26 My colleagues…read moreand I came in because one of them and I had a friendly competition going--who could win at the basketball arcade game. Unfortunately, he took the overall win, but I did beat his score in one round by a landslide, so I'm counting that as a small victory. There were five of us, and we grabbed a quick bite while we played. Both my competitor and I ordered the Parmesan Garlic Chicken Caesar Salad, and I have to say--the chicken was outstanding. Crispy, well-seasoned, and easily some of the best I've had. Definitely not what I expected, but I'd order it again without hesitation. We also went with the Eat & Play Combo, which includes a $10 play card (40 chips) and one of six food options. The website initially made it seem like a flat $20 deal, which felt a bit misleading, but upon rereading, it does say "starting at $20." Overall, we had a great time, and I'd definitely come back to this location!

We started out in the bar dining area, where our waiter was great--friendly and attentive. We ordered the 10-for-10 wings and a burger, both solid choices. After eating, we played a few games, which is always entertaining at Dave & Buster's. We ended the night with some shuffleboard. It was our first time playing with electronic scoring, and while it was a bit challenging, it was still a lot of fun. Overall, a good visit and a nice way to spend the evening!

I also reviewed a location that used to be in Clarendon, Arlington, VA in September 2012, which was a 3-star. Today, there are 4 locations: 3 in VA (the original in Alexandria I've been to) & 2 I haven't as well as the only location in MD, which I have been to their Rockville location on Sunday, October 26, 2025. My girlfriend's parents love Hard Times Cafe. They used to go to the one in College Park, but it closed so they occasionally will drive much further for them to Rockville. My g/f & I were in Gaithersburg that afternoon, and her parents mentioned inviting us to dinner at Hard Times, which we agreed. It had been a while since I had been there and got samplings of the various chili. I thought I liked their signature Cincinnati chili the best, but I think I realized I liked the Texas even more. Terlingua chili was great too. I got a beer, which was good too. Service was friendly & prompt. I got a chili dog with Texas chili & fries, which were great. We also split chili nachos, which were good too. Hard Times Cafe isn't necessarily a place I'll go out of my way for, but it's a place I enjoy when it works out.

My go-to since my first visit in 1985(!!!) has been their Terlingua Red. It's a little spicier than their Texas Chili, not as sweet as their Cincinnati Chili. I always get it with jalapeños and onions, and get a serving of beans on the side. (Not in the chili. My momma raised me right). Served with a soft and sweet piece of cornbread it's a tasty, quick, and inexpensive meal. Hard Times opened - and closed - a shop in my hometown a few years back, and I don't get down the road as often as I used to. Today's meal gives me incentive to make the trip more often in the future.

The wings were of good size and all cooked appropriately which was nice to see. Blackberry Habanero Wings - This was definitely my favorite sauce tried. It had a good balance of sweet and spicy, very solid. Quincy's Sauce Wings - These were okay. I believe this was a mix of BBQ and buffalo or some similar combination. They were a little plain. Garlic Parmesan Wings - This was a dry rub and there needed to be more of a garlic flavoring. There was a good amount of parmesan, but not enough of a garlic presence to balance it out. Chesapeake Honey Lime - This was definitely a unique pairing with the old bay and honey lime, which worked out well. Korean BBQ - These had more of a kick than I was expecting. There was a hint of sweetness, but good. Buffalo - This was a traditional sauce done right. I just wanted more sauce present on this set. Chicken Quesadilla - These were filled well and the chicken was seasoned nicely. I liked the pepper presence for a slight crisp factor. Cheesesteak Egg Rolls - These came with a spicy mayo which was a nice touch. The steak was liked, but the actual egg roll needed to be cooked a little longer as it was not too crispy.

Unfortunately my group of 3 was lagging, so we got here a little later than planned. I think 2 or 3 arrived first around 7:15pm and were able to grab a long table. Some filtered in after we got here. There was a lot going on that night. They were playing trivia and I recall really loud music playing. And we were trying to watch 2 football games. If you just wanna chill with some food and drink while watching sports, this might be a little too much. I know at some point I felt over stimulated. But they do have a good amount of TVs, so it's easy to watch the game(s). Food wise, everything was standard. We had been ordering pretzels at every bar stop, so continued the tradition here. It was soft with a nice chew. And I enjoyed trying the crab dip. The marg I got was nice and stiff. I normally order an extra shot on the side since I like my drinks spirit forward. It wasn't needed here. Tho I did add a lil for good measure. In a kinda dead plaza at night so plenty of parking. Not a bad spot to watch sports if you like a busy environment. REVIEW #3881

I've been coming here for years, and it's one of those places that never disappoints. The food is consistently delicious, the atmosphere is lively, and you always know you're going to leave happy. I'm originally from Honduras, and one of our staple dishes... arguably THE staple dish... is the baleada. A fresh flour tortilla filled with refried beans, cheese, and crema, with the option to add extras like eggs, avocado, or different meats. I knew this had to be where Kyler experienced his very first baleada. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Kyler isn't the most adventurous eater, so getting his stamp of approval is a pretty big deal. He's officially a fan for life! We were there with my mom, and all three of us ordered some variation of a baleada along with pupusas to share. I also had to introduce Kyler to our version of horchata, which is different from the Mexican horchata he was used to. As an added bonus, we happened to visit during the World Cup, and the energy in the restaurant made the experience even more fun. Between the familiar flavors, sharing a piece of my culture with someone I love, and the consistently great food, this meal ended up being one of the highlights of our trip back to Maryland. If you've never had a baleada before, let La Casita be your introduction. You won't regret it.
