Food was soo yummy. We ordered 5 burritos (3 fajita, 1 pastor, 1 barbacoa), a chicken flauta plate, and a mini taco plate. We all loved the food. The burritos are HUGE! So price:portion ratio is so good. Only thing tho, their drive-thru was down. There was a paper posted that told us to call a number to order which was a big inconvenience for us. Called in a pick up order. When I pull up to pay there was an addition to my order I didn't ask for. Before noticing, I asked how much chips and salsa would cost and he initially said $1.99. When I called out the order was incorrect he removed what I did not ask for but then charged me $2.99 for something he'd already told me was $1.99. Ate here four days on my 8 day trip. Our hotel was nearby and I brought a group of high school robotics students with me. The parking lot was packed the first day around lunchtime but they found seats for the 11 of us pretty quickly. The portions were huge. The chips and salsa that comes to the table is fresh and delicious. The horchata was huge and refreshing. I had it three times! Service was friendly and quick. Everyone enjoyed their food and on future visits, the kids looked forward to getting takeout or dining in. The cashiers were friendly and asked about how the robotics team was doing. First time here 06-06-2025 and will never be back. Waitress Queta V. charged my card twice for two separate amounts. Waitress told me she would refund me and that I would get my money back in a few business days and never happened. Called 06-12-2025 for an update, allegedly spoke to a male manager who promised me a refund or restaurant credit. Went in person on my lunch break to then speak with Demly the manager. She requested proof, I showed her the bank charged as well as with the ONE recipe of the incorrect charge and was denied my refund. She then called her Manager Mundo and also said he couldn't refund me my money. I am a paying costumer; I work for my money. I felt this was unfair and very unprofessional. Came across this place road tripping to California from Florida. It was an easy place right off the highway and I was starving so anything would have been great....except this place. I found a short thick black hair in my barbacoa taco (which consisted mainly of fat) and my appetite was pretty ruined after that. The chips were probably the only decent thing I had - but don't try the salsa because it is tasteless and seems like they used rotten tomatoes. Came here once again with my hubby. Food is always delicious and fresh. We did wait a few minutes to be seated. Our waitress was very rude and she was rushing us to order. The food is thumbs up, but every time we come here, they always have an attitude. The waitresses are always huddled up towards the back talking to each other. I do think this is my favorite Mexican food restaurant in Houston. The parking lot was full so we knew it was great tasting! BUT, to our surprise we did not wait for a table. The service is outstanding. We never wanted for anything. Admittedly, we speak enough Spanish to get by, but they speak English too. Andrea was our server. She was excellent. The most outstanding thing of all was the taste of their food. I have lived in Texas for 60 years, SO I KNOW TEX-MEX! We were over off of I-10 and stopped in this place. I have eaten at more TexMex restaurants than I am afraid to admit. Don Rey on I-10 had the best Mexican food I have ever eaten in this city. First of all, their green sauce and red salsa were outstanding. It was all I could do not to fill up on chips and green sauce. The chips are "old school" DELICIOUS! I usually get the combination plate, so I can only comment on crispy tacos, tostadas and cheese enchiladas. They put plenty of cheese on everything, the sauces are so sabroso (tasty) and the meat on the taco and tostada was plentiful and delicious. I had fajita beef. Lots of lettuce and tomato and I ordered extra onion. My brother had a delicious margarita. I did not drink as I wanted to eat my food. As it turned out, there was so much food that I took 1/2 my plate home! BTW, the leftovers were just as good today! Please stop by this place! It really was delicious and reasonably priced. This is an average from our entire order, the chilaquiles had a bit sour, the meats were delicious, the caldo de res was really good (hard to mess up) but the torta de milanesa was tasteless.
