Great food and great margaritas. They are always quick and we never leave disappointed. One of my favorites!

Came here on a Saturday night with 2 friends. It was packed but we were able to get seated right away. The waiter came promptly and we placed our drink orders in. They brought out chips which were nice and warm and not overly fried/salted which I appreciated. For my drink I ordered a frozen mango margarita with salt on the rim but it came back salt-less but I wasn't going to complain too much, it had cute decor and wasn't overly sweet. For the appetizer we shared guacamole which we ordered the group sized one. While they brought it out quickly, it was just cut up avocado with some onions, cilantro, and tomatoes. While it was fresh it wasn't mashed up as I'm used to guac being served so my friend and I took to mashing it up tableside. I guess freshly prepared means finishing it on your own? It also was sadly lacking salt and some acid that I've come to appreciate in guacamole. Onto the entries, the food came to us quickly and piping hot... one friend ordered the seafood soup and the other the fish tacos while I opted for the enchiladas. I got a trio of their beef, chicken, and shredded pork enchiladas and each was topped with a unique sauce and a side of beans and rice. What the guac lacked in flavor the enchiladas did not. While the tortillas seemed a bit on the dry side, the flavors of the filling and the sauces were great. My only wish was I had more beans on my plate, they were tasty. When we got our bill we were not rushed to pay, although we got lost in conversation so the waiter came back to pick up our payment but it was our fault not his we were not ready. Once we paid the bill, he totally was cool with us sitting and basically staying until it was closing time and no one rushed us out the door. Although it's a chain, I wouldn't mind coming back here, it's great for groups and with quite an extensive menu, I'd definitely explore more! read more

It honestly breaks me to leave such a low review. My family and me used to frequent here a lot because the food was always the best we could find in Columbus. Just went for the first time in a couple months and it appears maybe they were bought out. Prices were way higher (obviously I know inflation, so not a huge deal). However the service was less than great, we ordered and when the wrong food was brought out we politely explained why it wasn't right, only for the server to come out and try to tell us it was right. They took the food back and brought out food which still wasn't right but the kids were hungry so we made do. When cutting into the enchilada, we saw onions. My cousin brought it to the attention of the server. She said "it's in the sauce". When my sister had just ordered a plain enchilada with same sauce and no onions. I understand it is not the servers fault but arguing about the food is a bad look. Sad to say we will not be returning any more. read more

While we appreciated the nice decor, cleanliness of the restaurant, and the chips and salsa.... the food and margaritas were not impressive at all. VERY little seasoning on the food, served to us luke warm, and the margaritas were super weak. The employees didn't seem happy to be there either. We won't be returning. read more

My bf and I are new to the area and this has become one of our regular spots! We're both highly trained bartenders and it's one of the few spots where the margaritas are actually made right delicious! Love it here. read more

We went to Don Tequlia last night on a whim- we were ending a road trip and desperately needed food so decided to try it out. I am so glad we did! The restaurant is clean, well decorated, and has a friendly and attentive waitstaff. I was with two others and we all were more than pleased with our meal. We capped it off by ordering the fried ice cream and we all agreed it was the best we've ever had. I highly recommend this establishment if you have a hankering for Mexican food. read more

The prices here are way too high. I understand inflation but $12.99 for a taco salad and an up charge of $12.00 for grilled chicken that was entirely too salty ($25.00) The salad was a bowl no bigger then ones hand...iceberg, tomatoes and a scoop of sour cream. Side of sour cream that was offered to us not knowing it was $1.99. A taco salad a burrito with a couple margaritas $120 with tip. Wow! Service was good, food not great, prices poor. The smell of some musky air freshness that hits you when you walk in is still in my throat 6 hours later! Service was the highlight as my waitress was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately the food was a disaster. The chips were ice cold and had no salt. The salsa tasted like chunky ketchup (not kidding). I ordered the fajitas Texanas (shrimp, chicken and beef) which came out looking beautiful. Sad to say, it had no flavor. It was as if the chef failed to season everything today. The rice was the best part of the meal. I had a glass of tea and after the tip my lunch was $30 for one person! Way overpriced for lunch and the quality of food. This was our first time visiting Don Tequilla's. It's fairly close to where I live, so I was hoping for good results. We were seated quickly but my wife commented that the hostess was not very friendly or outgoing. Chips were delivered quickly with a side of salsa and the server took our drink order. I agree with another reviewers assessment of the salsa. It lacked personality... Pretty much tasted like tomato sauce. I asked the server if they had anything spicier. He brought the heat, and we found that a mix of both was the best combination of texture and flavor. I ordered a Bud Light, which came in at about 3.50, a dollar less that any of the Mexican beers. Not sure that $4.50 is a good value for those, particularly when happy hour prices only apply to the beers on tap. My wife said I should tell them how to make a good margarita. I tasted hers... It was pretty pedestrian. She was, however, very happy to see something close to her beloved seafood chimichanga on the menu. She ordered the lobster version. I got a taste of this once it arrived. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Instead of providing two chimichangas (which means a lot of tortilla) they should stuff the same amount of lobster into a single tortilla. That would reduce the filler and put the lobster at center stage. The menu, by the way, is fairly huge with lots of great pics. I had a hard time deciding, but ordered the seafood soup. This offers fish, lobster and shrimp along with a variety of vegetables. It arrived very hot and looked good. In fact, the soup base was excellent. I was very impressed and enjoying every bite. Some of the lustre wore off when I realized I had not seen any seafood yet. After digging around I found about 1 oz of fish in a couple of pieces. I found no shimp and no lobster... unless they were cleverly disguised as carrots, califlower or broccoli. My bowl had plenty of veggies. As I said, the soup was delicious, but I don't pay $16+ for vegetable soup. Granted, this could have been due to an unlucky scoop from the soup cauldron, but that's something the restaurant needs to fix. I told the server of the issue and asked him to pass the info to his manager. He may have, but the manager didn't come to visit and I got to pay full-pop for vegetable soup. Bottom line... The place is clean, the food has potential, and the staff is not terrible. Does that beg for a return trip? I doubt that we will return. If we do, we will be looking for substantial improvement, and I'm not sure that is on the menu. read more

The ambience at Don Tequila was fantastic! I like how it's comfortable and clean. This is a place where I'd take guests if they are thinking about Mexican. The chips and salsa were solid - as always, they are addictive. We tried the Del Mar Trio (3/5) and the Lindos Special (4/5). I highly recommend the Lindos special. The chicken and rice tasted really good. Steak and shrimp were okay. The only thing is that it is a very spicy dish for us... as there were lots of hot peppers. If spicy food is your thing, certainly go for it. For the Del Mar Trio, the menu that was shown was on a grilling plate but when the food came, it wasn't... so that was a disappointment for me. Second, the seafood (shrimp and lobster) wasn't particularly fresh. They are not not fresh but I was expecting something more I guess. The tilapia was tender and good. One thing that I do want to share comment on is that this dish was way too salty... we couldn't bear it. I think it's not so necessary to add a lot of condiments to prep for seafood, especially when it's fresh. I will mostly likely not order this one again... Overall, Don Tequila was a decent place! Great for a dinner night out especially you don't want to go to a super loud Mexican restaurant but still want Mexican... it's a good balance right here! read more

Service was amazing- we went the night before thanksgiving and the server was so friendly and funny! Our food came out quickly and our drinks were never empty. I got the enchilad and tamal- the sauce on top was delicious, I devoured the whole thing! Decor was nice and clean. We were sat at a comfortable booth with a marble countertop. The only thing I was really hoping for was an authentic salsa and unfortunately this place did not deliver. It was extremely bland, almost tasted like a marinara sauce. You could tell it was definitely canned which is a huge pet peeve of mine at Mexican restaurants. I previously worked at a fondue restaurant and we made salsa in house from scratch and it makes the biggest difference! Most Mexican restaurants I go to seem to take that short cut. It never has made sense to me as it's the most traditional Mexican cuisine! read more

The restaurant has very nice ambience. The server we had was good. The food was good. Served hot! At first glance I was not sure if the tamale was day old, later after asking the manager. I was told that the tamales are not made in- house. The tamales are frozen from a box, thawed and heated up. The favor of the tamales was fair but quite dry. My overall review. Typical Mexican fare and food quality/prices on par with similar restaurants in the area. Service was very good but it definitely took awhile to get our food. The place was not that crowded so not sure what the issues were. Inside the restaurant was very clean and had a nice open feel. Posters highlighted the nightly specials that you can take advantage of and would be worth going back during the week. Will probably give it another try during the week to try out their specials. Without a doubt, this place never disappoints. It's one of our family's favorite places. We've had multiple things here, taco salad, tacos, chimichangas, chili Colorado, burrito California, etc... great every time. The staff is incredibly friendly as well. I am from Arizona and I am pIcky whEn it comes to good Mexican. I was so surprised by the amazing food I got at Don Tequilas! Plus it is really gorgeous on the inside. The chips and salsa wEre amazing and we also got the quest which I would say was fantastic if my kids would have let me have any. We tried two margaritas the house and another one. I preferred the sweeter house, my husband preferred the stronger one. Overall it is a great gem in POWELL and even worth a drive for good Mexican! read more

Don tequilas is a masterpiece. First time I had it was about a year ago. It's been a favorite ever since. Portions are large enough to have leftovers, taste great. A little pricey but well worth it. This is my girlfriend and I's favorite place in Dublin. Highly recommend stopping in! read more

We were excited to try this newly opened Mexican restaurant and arrived around 5:15 to avoid the dinner rush/Friday night crowd. It was a wise decision-we were seated quickly and saw the tables and bar fill up to near capacity by the time we left. Clean, open space with a mix of contemporary lighting and a nod toward ethnic decor-nothing kitschy here. We were seated at a comfortable booth that held our party of six nicely. Our server was fast, friendly and earnest. He took our drink and app orders, which were delivered and refilled (when necessary) quickly. A few minor details service wise that aren't worth nit picking-they are (I believe) in the soft opening stage and the 'little things' will come with time. Of course not all of our party can order 'as is' off the menu; their special requests were handled well and all entrees were delivered piping hot and together. The food is delicious-fresh, tasty, seasoned well and nicely plated. The menu is huge, with a lot to choose from. They also have a decent drinks menu, and on a day that I'm not driving I will dive into a house made 18 oz sangria or margarita. Prices are terrific for lunch (based on the menu) and good for dinner. I'm looking forward to our next visit. Definitely will be back! read more

Well. . . we even gave it a 2nd try before submitting a review. First time was Cinco De Mayo (it was busy) but was a horrible experience. (4 people - took 4 hours) for cold, mediocre food (my veggies i guessed were microwaved, but only half way as some were still half frozen) with a server who disappeared for 20-30 minutes at a time. Drinks were well below average. Recipes look enticing, but not up to par. Let's call these challenges after just opening a week prior. Fast forward two months later. Service still completely unacceptable and rude. (If you can get Alex- do that. He appears to be the hardest working person in the place and pleasant). We asked Our server tonight to please take our order after 30 minute wait. Said would come back. Didn't. Asked again and again. Regretfully, seems to be something messed up overall there. Understaffed definitely. On the plus side, it is decorated nice inside. Good change since the Applebee's days. Not sure why giving 2 star. Probably feel bad as I've never given a one star. Wow! We ate here around 3, and there were only 4 other people in the restaurant. The hostess was incredibly nice, along with our waitor. They kind of worked as a team, each one getting us various things (more napkins, hot sauce, etc) they were quick, efficient, and friendly. Not once did I feel like he was annoyed or that we were bothering him, like you feel with so many young waitresses/waiters at restaurants everywhere you go. Our food was delivered in 8 minutes and it was delicious! I also branched out and got the Sangria Margarita.... whew! Good stuff, but very strong. When you call ahead and are told you have a table with a large party and you arrive and somebody from the restaurant comes outside of the building before we can even leave our vehicles that they aren't accepting any more tables tonight, it is a bit frustrating....especially when party members drive an hour away to come to eat here. Curbside pick up was awful. We placed our order online and it said it would be ready at 7:01. My husband went inside to see if our order was ready at 7:05. When he walked in, even though there were 3 men at the desk, no one acknowledged him. Two people finally told him it was coming out any minute. Still sitting in our car at 7:23! THE BEST Mexican Food I have ever had! I am a Mexican food snob with literally not a single complaint about this restaurant. Decided to go here on a whim after my friend told me she passes the restaurant regularly but had never tried it. Reviews online were pretty good and they were not wrong. The wait was 10-15 minutes for the 2 of us around 6:30 PM on a Saturday evening. They give you a number so you just have to wait to have your number called to be seated. I ordered a jumbo strawberry margarita (and it was literally J U M B O and amazing) and vegetarian fajitas (comes with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole and sides of beans and rice). Everything was hot and delicious! I typically do not eat rice at any Mexican restaurant but this rice was out of this world and I'm so excited to go back and get some again. They offer free chips and salsa, and the salsa was a perfectly mild flavor. After 2 fajitas I was full and happy to have the rest as leftovers for lunch! The staff were super friendly and organized and our waiter was on top of everything, not a single item wrong or empty drink. 100% recommend, I will definitely be coming back again. To be honest, the first visit I made didn't convince me to come back. But I gave it another shot and I've added it to my rotation. First, it is not like what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant around town (that's why my first time confused me). The wait time between ordering and receiving food is longer than other similar chains, but based on taste, I have to assume it's because the food is made fresh when you order - there is no pan of enchiladas they just scoop out and run to you. So expect a wait time more on par with "American" establishments. Most menu items do match with typical Mexican restaurants in the area, but food quality is higher and portions seem more tame. The interior decor is formal but still has a touch of "old Mexico" like agave and ranchero/norteño music. The tables are solid (quartz?) and the booth cushions are comfortable. The bar has several large screen TVs which play both US and Mexican sports games (soccer/fútbol). Serving staff seems to cover each other well, so if you flag anyone down for a refill, you will get it, and fast. Cost is a bit higher than the other Mexican chains, again which I attribute to decor and food quality. For a table of one with soft drink and enchilada plate, and tip, I was covered around $20. The only aspect other reviews have dinged is the salsa - truly like a marinara sauce. Even a dryer chopped salsa would be a good replacement. Otherwise, if you're watching carbs, pass on the chips and salsa. But not a big enough distraction to lose a star. Buen provecho. read more
