Visited Don Tequila after a long hiatus. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated while chips and salsa were delivered. Our drink requests were taken and I went with a Modelo Negro because they had it on tap. The chips were a little too crunchy/thick, they lacked salt, and the salsa wasn't great. For dinner, I requested the David's Special. The meal was pretty good, but a tad on the salty side. I wish the mushrooms were more apparent in the dish. My wife ordered steak fajitas and I thought they tasted a little funky, but she liked them. For dessert, we requested fried ice cream and I explained to my son just how amazing fried ice cream was. When we received it 2 minutes after requesting it, it became apparent that they had deep fried the ice cream a day or two earlier and threw it back in the freezer. We couldn't get our spoons through it. It was like we were poking a rock. It was flavorless. Honestly, it was the worst fried ice cream I've ever had. So that was disappointing. Overall, I'd say the food quality has declined since our last visit. read more

Ordered food tonight went out with a friend for her birthday. Told the server twice because he seemed like he didn't understand the first time no tomato no rice can't have tomatoes. Here comes my food tomatoes all over the plate. I said you're gonna have to take it back I can't eat the tomatoes. They can't just be scraped off. Bring it back two minutes later with the tomato scraped off the plate. how do I know this because you could see where the rest of them were left on the plate I said I can't eat tomatoes. You're gonna have to make it new so finally after the fourth time of bringing it out they got everything right and still didn't listen. Didn't put any of my sauces on the plate just put the food and it was nasty and cold. I could get better food at Taco Bell and that's not saying much then when I talk to the manager because this gentleman wasn't understanding what I was saying for some reason, he comes back over after the manager leaves and starts to be writing me and telling me he don't make the food in the back and it's not his problem and I said will you give them the order I said so what is your problem? I said you tell him no tomatoes, no rice and then you bring it out with tomatoes on it. You know you didn't look at the plate or what that place is subpar at best if you want good Mexican food there's better places around here to get it and this one is not it. read more

Bug in my daughters drink. They scolded me for not telling them sooner- we literally flagged them when we saw it. They were rude about it and blamed the door being opened when people come in. Try cleaning out the ice bin. Worst Mexican I have had. Daughter refuses to go back. Shouldn't shock anyone that a photo was taken of this disgusting experience. Speedy fast service. A diamond in the rough surrounded in a shopping plaza! This Mexican restaurant brings out your order just as fast as you put it in. The service and food are both great. The menu is full of your typical Mexican options and something for almost everyone. I went with the grande burrito but instead of chicken or beef I asked if I could get chorizo. I was impressed that I was able to custom my burrito without any extra cost. The burrito was full of great flavor and very filling. I look forward to the next time I visit. read more

Nestled back off of N. Court, Street ( Pearl Road) is one of Medina's gems of a restaurant. The decour is entertaining, the staff friendly, and the seating ample and comfortable. The menu is varied and well thought out. Chicken fajitas for two is our all-time favorite but once in a while we break away from tradition and try a combo platter. Update: the food had negative results on my digestive system that evening. Food not bad. Carnitas were very tasty, the salsa a bit bland but add some hot sauce and it was perfect. The service is the reason for the score. Very slow considering it was early and not very crowded. Had to ask twice for boxes and check. Server took my card to the cashier and never came back. I had to go retrieve it, it was just there on the counter. Anyone could have taken it. Server was nice I just think the cashier was to return it and forgot. First time here. I see right outside are the daily specials. Very very good prices. Complimentary toasted chips and salsa. Very warm atmosphere and smooth music. The food came out very quick and hot. I ordered one of the combination dinners that consisted of a beef burrito, beef enchilada, and a quesadilla. All very good. I read another review that mentioned the combo meals aren't very much food. After eating it, I would say for the price, it is good. You shouldn't be too hungry after and not too full either.Looks little from the outside but it has good room on the inside, and the service was alright overall. Stopped in last Sunday with some friends. I think it's always interesting to see what kind of crowds are in a Mexican restaurant on a Sunday evening because that tells me something about the restaurant. Don Tequila's had a fairly nice crowd. Maybe the $2.50 lime margaritas had something to do with it, but, if it does, that's just good marketing on their part. Lots of Mexican restaurants I've been to would be hard pressed to cover their costs on Sundays. The $2.50 lime margaritas are good. Try one. I also enjoyed the salsa, presented in small carafes with everyone getting their own small bowel so there is no worry about double dipping. And I was perfectly satisfied with my 3 enchilada dinner. Don't remember what it was called but it came with one cheese enchilada, one ground beef enchilada and one chicken enchilada, each covered in a different sauce. And the customary rice and beans. I was able to substitute the chicken for pork with no difficulty, and I am happy I did. The pork was seared nicely to bring out the flavor and was probably the best enchilada of the three. The people I was with thought the food was only O.K. I thought it was better than O.K. And the staff was friendly and helpful. Don Tequila is a "sister" to Patrons in Wadsworth. While I liked Don Tequila I would probably chose to return to Patron's if I'm with my same friends. After all, I did give Patron's 5-stars. read more

This is our favorite family Mexican spot. Service is always good and the food is tasty. What I like is not on the menu so they make it special for me. It's loud enough that my kids don't embarrass me but not so loud you can't enjoy your meal. There is a pretty big space off the side of the restaurant that only recently realized was more seating so we NEVER have to wait for a table. The wait staff work ethic seems to be declining. We have eaten there for years, sometimes twice a week. This last bunch of waiters, Manuel has hired lack a solid work ethic. Today we waited 15 minutes to get our order taken. The restaurant was empty. I found the waiters gabbing in the back corner when I went to the bathroom. It was still 5 minutes before our waiter came over to take our order. I go there a lot because this is generally low stress dining. I've lived in Chicago, New York, Seattle... and I still look forward to coming home to Medina so I can eat at Don Tequila. There are two kinds of Mexican food I've found, gourmet Mexican ($10+/tapas/etc.) and your working-class Mexican (taco truck style/ street Mexican). Don Tequila is the latter and without a doubt the best I've come across anywhere. Even when I've found comparable food, it's never been as cheap and in as large quantity as Don's. For the price, you're not going to find better authentic Mexican food. The cherry on the proverbial deep-fried ice cream however, is the staff. So I'm sitting with some dude whos wearing a spider hat eating chips and salsa... sipping on a soda - Mountain Dew flavored - waiting on my chimis to arrive. "No thanks," he says passing on food, "I'll just have a soda in one of those glass bottles, lemon/lime if you will." SpiderHat pours him his own individual bowl of little salsa to avoid cross contamination and Carlson sits and munches - periodically drinking from his bottle from his oh so kissable lips. As I sit silently eating my scrumptious chicken chimis - I listen to SpiderHat and him discuss Carlson's most current girlfriend and how he took her to see Eclipse. If only I was lucky enough to attend the latest Twilight movie on the arm of a man like Carlson.... Or perhaps even the grace the dead bodies opened up for science display followed by a romantic dinner of grilled cheese at the Melt. But alas, I guess this girl is just gonna have to dream. I work close by so Don Tequila is an easy place to get lunch. It seems every time we order here, something is messed up. For instance, today we ordered 3 orders of chips with queso cheese dip, got the wrong order and they charged $16 for that. The food is bland and not very good.
