First of all I love love that they give not just salsa but a little bit of guacamole and a little bit of queso with their chips. From the time I walked in with my daughter husband and grandchildren we were given great service , even when my grandson spilled his salsa and later his chocolate milk.... I wanted to clean it up and they told me not to worry . Aside from this great customer service I really enjoyed the buy two meal I chose chimichangas, chicken and beef--pinto beans and rice. Wow! Couldn't finish it was so much. Granddaughters chicken nuggets, tasted so good and they also were sizeable. I hadn't been here in years, but next time will be much much sooner. Stopped in this place for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice day, so we chose to dine outside. Chips were fresh and the salsa was very good. I had the lunch pick 2 with 2 sides. I chose the cheese enchilada and chicken chimichanga w/ rice and beans. Food was good and the service was right on. Fun spot in Medina on Route 18 not far from I-71. We sat on the patio. What a great spot. Our table ordered margaritas of different styles (frozen and in-the-rocks) and flavors (lime and strawberry). Everyone enjoyed the drinks. Tasty and a good kick. The food was also very good. Plenty of gratis chips stand salsa were enjoyed. My entree was camarones Al La Diablo. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the sauce had a good heat. Servers were busy but nicely attentive. They seemed very well staffed. A good place for a fun dinner. read more

We stopped and tried the restaurant, and our waiter was pleasant. The restaurant was clean, and the bar and drinks were great. Also, their iced tea was fresh and not weak, and they had fresh lemon. I've come to appreciate the little things because many restaurants have lowered my expectations lately after Covid. Their chicken Tinga was tasty, and we were happy to order the guacamole dip. My husband's chicken dish was dry and unflavored, with a globe of unmelted cheese on top, so that was a fail. All in all, it was a hit-and-miss. The table chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. The bar is probably a great place for drinking; if you know what to order, you will probably leave happy. My take, anyway! read more

We stopped at Tres Potrillos in Medina for dinner on a Friday night with the kids. It wasn't very crowded, so we got a table right away, which was nice. As soon as we sat down, we were served warm chips and fresh salsa--always a great start. My wife ordered the spicy mango margarita, and it both tasted and looked amazing. She got the shrimp tacos and loved them. I had the special: carnitas on rice with all the fixings and fried plantains around the edge. It was packed with flavor, and I'd definitely order it again. The food came out hot, the staff was friendly, and the whole experience was really good. We'll for sure be coming back again! Great spot for families or date night. read more

Bland, bland and bland. This just seems the way it is with most Cleveland (ok, this was Medina) mexican food. Went in for lunch on a Friday. The chips and salsa that were immediately bought out were both very bland and tasteless. Even my mom, who is a big fan of the Tres Portillos Montrose/Copley, said she was rummaging around in the salsa for either cilantro, pepper or onion. She joked that you could warm this up and serve it as tomato soup. Another poster from Nov. '25 said you get guac and queso with you chips. This was not the case. Just a very meager bowl of salsa (however they gladly refill it). The chips were very plain. Not warm. I guess not even made in-house. Ordered the Tres Portillos enchiladas - 3 chicken enchiladas, covered with a spinach sauce, poblanos and queso. Served with mexican rice. Again, the whole dish was bland and tasteless. Poblano peppers were a very thin strip (like 1 mm) on top. Barely could taste them. Hardly any were on top. Tried the spinach sauce plain. Could barely taste it's spinach. I'd gather frozen spinach. Mexican rice was also tasteless. Good portion - filled half the plate. But had no flavor of a properly prepared mexican rice, where you can taste the toasted rice and taste the strong tomato sauce that it was cooked in. The chicken in the enchilads was fine. Tasted like chicken. However I would have liked a pulled chicken with mexican flavors like peppers and spice. A perfectly fine restaurant for those who like their marg's, drinks and basic, bland mexican food that is produced with low quality ingredients. Based on the crowd for lunch, a lot of customers like this, and I admit, I am therefore in the minority here with my views. read more

We've been dining at Tres Potrillos for over five years now. They always offer great service and good food served quickly. We've taken food to go and dined in. The margaritas are on point and so are the fresh nachos. We love their hot queso dip. My favorite meals are the chicken dishes served with mushrooms, onions, and peppers. They offer different varieties and I like them all. Their chicken soup is good old comfort food. This is our go-to Mexican restaurant because it's good and it's very close to home. We are glad to have this restaurant in our neighborhood. read more

Party of 5 and all of us noticed quickly how salty our meals were . Service was ok but not attentive (server forgot a couple items and we had to remind him). We went here for the first time in a while and while the food was decent and service was good. The prices were just flat out insane. Probably 30 to 50% increases since coming here last. The chips and salsa are yummy. They bring salsa out in a little carafe with individual little bowls for each person! You can double dip this way!! I had a frozen strawberry margarita and my husband had a blood orange margarita on the rocks. They were delicious. The frozen strawberry margarita was fabulous and not weak at all!! I ordered the seafood enchiladas. They were amazing!!! Hubs ordered the melted chimichanga. He got chicken, steak and chorizo. He LOVED the chorizo. The cilantro rice was very tasty Hubs wanted tableside guacamole, but they aren't doing that right now. He told us we needed to speed up the dining process as there were more customers waiting outside, even though we were still ordering. When we didn't fulfill his request as timely as he wanted he came back over to me and asked if I wanted a refill on my beverage, and just after asking, picked up my water from the inside of the glass. Ordered pickup from here , 5 entrees. I was in a rush since lunch during a business day so I had to get back to work, but tthe restaurant didn't look busy. Ordered 5 entrees, but when I got home , discovered they only gave 4 entrees. Tried calling the restaurant, so they refunded me for the entree. Then discovered one other entree was missing selected sides (salad) , and another entree was missing the included lettuce and tomatoes and guac on top. Tried calling restaurant, but every time the person on the other end hung up. Restaurant only successfully produced 2/5 entrees. 60% failure rate is pretty terrible. Don't order pickup or make sure you have time to sit in front of the restaurant and make sure they didn't royally screw up. I'd love to give this place 5 stars. The food really is that good here. It's quite delicious even if you can tell they are still stuck in COVID mode of missing half their table side experience. The depth of flavors is amazing though. That tortilla soup will knock your socks off. But it's the service that incredibly sucks here. No joke here but nearly twenty minutes of sitting at the table with an empty chip basket, empty drinks, and folded menus waiting to order in a near empty restaurant while multiple waiters gather around a table to chit-chat. None of them ours, granted, but having to ask if we can order is nuts. And then to check out? Another ten minutes waiting (and still counting at this point while I write this review). There is zero concern for the customer experience. But the food is truly great. It has to be to make up for lousy service. read more

The Tortilla soup had very little meat and a whole lotta broth. The Lobster Rellano was somewhat spicy and creamy, and not memorable. The Sangrias just tasted like fruit juice. This was my boyfriend and I first time coming to this Mexican restaurant. Walking in, the place is huge, different decor based on other places I've gone to. The bathrooms are right by the front door when walking in. One downfall was we walked in and there was no one to greet us by the host table. We had to wait a long time with no wait in front of us just to be seated. Don't get me wrong, maybe they were understaffed for a Saturday but there was only about three servers that I could see and it took about 10-15 minutes just to seat us. Once we were seated, the chip guy came over to put the chips and salsa down almost immediately. It took our server another 5-10 minutes just to ask what drinks we wanted. We got two cokes. I will say the taste of it was displeasing, tasted like cough medicine and water mixed. I ordered a "create your own combo" with two chimichangas (chicken) that came with refried beans and rice. My boyfriend ordered something with chorizo and eggs. I was a little disappointed in the chimichangas because it was just shredded chicken, didn't have any vegetables in it really so it had almost no flavor. The rice was a little bland but still good and refried beans are refried beans, not really my favorite regardless. My boyfriend said the chorizo had no flavor and was overcooked. While eating our meal, it took about another 15 minutes just to see how our meal was (Normally when servers come up and ask it's almost within the first couple bites.) She also only came back with one drink (refill) instead of another so my boyfriend and I ended up having to share a drink. This was our lunch, and the price wasn't too horrible either. Both of our meals were only $8.50 each and I was a little shocked by the pop price but that was $2.50 each. So for a lunch that's under $30, it isn't bad but the food also isn't the most flavorful and the service was a little slow. read more

Très Potrillos is the place to go for a. summer night dine out. The outdoor patio is great, the service was fast, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the guacamole! This place is also very kid friendly, there's a huge kids menu but also appeals to adults with an equally impressive drinks menu. However, I will say that outdoors gets a bit loud here (music, talking, parking lot, etc,) at times, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a place a little more quiet. read more

In fact, if you do need to order over the phone, Medina's location doesn't have an online menu... so just look at Fairlawn's location menu! It worked! The food was abundant and plentiful! We had table side guacamole to start, my daughter had the kids quesadilla and my wife had a taco salad in a crunchy taco bowl. I went with the special, shrimp tacos, loaded up and very good. Overall a nice spot for a quick meal. The food once ordered is out in a blink of an eye. The food isn't very authentic but it was good. I'd probably say 3 star typical Mexican spot (FYI the rice is bland) but the service bumped it up a star. Sooo Living in medina I hadn't actually visited Tres Portillos until recently! On our first visit we were Immediately greeted by a wonderful hostess who let us know it was half off margaritas Tuesday... I was expecting a taco Tuesday but I was not disappointed once I heard margaritas were half off! I didn't intend to order one but I ordered a cucumber marg since the menu didn't have many other options or suggest a price / size... we later found out there were QR code's on the table for the full menu, however the waitress was not able to communicate much other than a head nod or pointing. We both ordered tacos (again unaware of how many came with the order and the waitress held up 3 fingers) The salsa and chips were the best part of the meal and the queso was slightly spicy, which I didn't intend to order until we were leaving but the waitress didn't seem to understand. Other than being super confused on what to order, the food was filling and the green dip that came with the tacos was delicious. As we were seated outside and social distance from other tables (appropriately) I noticed my margarita was jumbo compared to other tables... and slightly confused when the bill showed a $13 total for the margarita! Another waitress went to check when I asked about the bill and just shrugged and said I didn't order the "right" one... I would not have ordered a drink at all had I known it was not included in the half off deal... honestly I was slightly disappointed they would promote a special and not comp all margaritas accordingly.
