The take-out experience has been poor, often waiting 30 minutes on top of the 30 minute estimate wait by phone, for close to an hour wait. Extremely frustrating. One Saturday I waited one hour in the parking lot for my food. The deodorizers blowing through the air vents in the restaurant are a deal breaker. I no longer dine in their restaurant in Montrose due to this. It smells like Glade in the air. Very unpleasant. My first time I wasn't very hungry so just got an appetizer as my main meal and then my sweet tooth kicked in, so opted for fried ice cream. Everything was delicious and fresh. Wanted to order two or three carnitas street tacos and a beef enchilada, but they couldn't make it happen so I left. Very pricey too, $15 for two tacos. No a la carte menu. Service was not accommodating and they had a very limited menu. You're paying for the lease/mortgage not the food. The salsa wasn't very good either. First night in Akron meeting a number of friends from all over the country in town that weekend. Mexican seemed like a great idea and Tres Potrillos was only 2 miles from our hotel. Perfect. The 8 or so of us were seated at a large table with plenty of room, I started with a top shelf margarita which was good enough to have several more. There were chips and salsa for the table which was very nice. Everyone ordered their mains and it seemed like my partner's order and mine were forgotten in the shuffle. About 30 to 35 minutes after the rest of the table was served we got our meals. We were laughing and talking with everyone so it wasn't really a big deal. I ordered the lobster chimichanga and to be honest it was a lot better than I was expecting. The shell was full of lobster, onions, and tomatoes with a creamy sauce with lime rice with cilantro. My chimichanga was devoid of any flavor and was basically a meat pie. No peppers, mushrooms, salsa - just meat. Two with us ordered chicken quesadillas. Save room for the churros! This place exceeded our expectations! The food was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The staff is friendly, works hard and was very attentive. As soon as we were seated someone came to take our drink order. I had the top shelf margarita and my spouse drank iced tea. Both were good--tea was fresh brewed. Top shelf margarita was refreshing and balance of ingredients to ice was good. Chips and salsa were also on our table quickly. Salsa is delicious here. My wife and I visited this Mexican restaurant because of a friend's birthday party. It is located on Fairlawn'a restaurant hill, and has ample parking. After being seated at a long rectangular table in its own room, we tried to get settled, but not only were the chairs tightly packed but it felt like a sauna. Several people asked if they could turn down heat, but instead got a dissertation as to why it was set there. I ordered their house fajitas, but with specific modifications: problano peppers instead of green bell peppers (they upset my a stomach), no rice or beans, guacamole on the side, and four (4) tortillas. My wife got their seafood nachos sans tortillas chips and a bottle of beer. The food was ready in no time even with our large party, and as it arrived piece meal, the servers had no idea who ordered what, subsequently much yelling insued. My dish arrived in the first wave and was incorrect. Not only was it full of green bell peppers, there were no red peppers, tomatoes, salad or tortillas! Plus it had no seasoning and it was Luke warm. I mentioned it to our server and she stated the order was first correct, then a began to argue that someone else got it and insinuated I should find it and exchange it! I stood my ground saying what I got was incorrect, and didn't get anywhere until I pressed the issue that it is not my responsibility to find and correct the mistake, especially after people have begun eating! My corrected meal arrived hot and tasty, but with rice and beans, plus no tortillas? The rice and beans were removed and my foil wrapped tortillas came, but upon openning them, I only found 2? This isn't the best Mexican restaurant, but it also isn't the worst. Cons- it's a bit overpriced as far as Mexican food goes. The staff are friendly, but it doesn't seem like they have an efficient system in place. Some of the food is good, but I've had quite a few mediocre (or less than mediocre) meals. The margaritas are straight up terrible. Terrible. I recently tried the Spicy Mango Margarita and it tasted neither spicy nor mango. Pros- it's a really pretty restaurant. They have a really fantastic patio. The staff works really hard. Again, it's not the worst so if you find something you like, it's definitely worth coming here on a beautiful night and sitting on the patio. read more

We had dinner at Tres Potrillos last night and we had a huge group of 19! We made a reservation and the restaurant wasn't very busy, so we nearly had the place to ourselves. The service was excellent. The tortilla chips and salsa were also excellent. The tortillas were warm and the salsa was home made with a nice kick. For dinner, I ordered mole chicken Poblano. The two chicken breasts were flat and a little dry. The mole was tasty and it grew on me. The sides of lettuce, sour cream, and rice were just okay. I also had a margarita grande, which was very tasty. I tasted my cousin's lobster chimichanga and I was not a fan. I tasted my wife's pork carnitas dinner and it was excellent. This is something I'll order in the future. I also tried my father in law's garlic shrimp and that too was delicious. As with all Cleveland area Mexican restaurants, when compared to Cozumel, it just doesn't stack up. Cozumel's service is just as good or better, their margaritas have just a little more tequila, and the food is always outstanding. But since Tres Potrillos is close to home, we will be going here often. They did a great job with our group of 19 people! read more

I hasn't eaten here in a while but recently I've been here twice and unfortunately, disappointed both times. Last time, the food was only moderately hot and the server only checked on me once. Tonight, I ordered the cheese dip, a particular favorite of mine at other Mexican places and didn't enjoy it at all. It tasted like a white sauce (made with flour) with cheese added instead of a melted blend of Mexican cheeses. Not good. It will be a while if I return. Fairly good Mexican restaurant with giant portions. Came in for a quick lunch and went with the taco trio sampler and selected a pastor, a street taco (chorizo and potato) and barbacoa. We were given some complimentary homemade chips and a spicy salsa that didn't taste packaged or premade, I enjoyed that very much, When the tacos arrived on double corn tortillas and loaded with food along with a side of beans I was amazed at how much food was in there. As I had no way to take them with me I plowed through and polished the entire plate off. I thought the street taco was the best as it was rich and delicious. The pastor and barbacoa were a bit too similar in their preparation and accompaniments to notice a huge difference but were still good. This was our first visit. Fresh, creatively prepared food, good portions and friendly staff. Complementary chips were plentiful and fresh, and the salsa was authentic with a little kick. (But not too spicy.) The menu is much larger than I'd expected. I had the lobster enchiladas and they were delightful. They came with a small ramekin of lightly seasoned rice that was quite good. Everyone had something different and all were pleased with their meals to the point where there weren't any leftovers. Basic margaritas were enjoyed by my friends. Unfortunately I was thoroughly underwhelmed with the blackberry mint margarita. Other than muddled blackberries at the bottom of the oversized martini glass filled 3/4 full with ice, and the pretty purple hue, the only taste difference from the regular margarita was more sweetness. A few tiny pieces of something green were in the glass but any taste of mint was overpowered by the overly artificial margarita mix. My husband and I split chicken fajitas. The chicken was over cooked and the whole dish was VERY unseasoned. No taste!
