I adore this local, authentic Mexican place in West Town. I almost always, like clock work, order the chicken flauta dinner. It's super filling, comes with rice and beans and a lite salad. I ask for sour cream and guac occasionally. The staff often give me a sweet, rice pudding for dessert and its lovely. Reminds me of graze school dessert in a good way and has a strong cinnamon flavor. You can get soda in bottles which is always fun and they are quick! I work close so I eat in kr take it back and never have to order ahead. Coworkers loves this place as well. It's so reasonable and the people who run it are so kind and generous. On the hunt for a taco Tuesday spot and may have found it. Great value for the quality and service. On a Tuesday Chicago summer night the place was not crowded at all. Plenty of street parking as well. We walked in and grabbed a seat at a table but I believe you can order first and then sit. We ordered two steak, one pastor, and one lengua taco with the traditional fixing, cilantro and onions. Other standard toppings are available as well (lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc.). We got a side of rice and a coke and horchata to drink. Heads up free chips and salsa (more of a pico de gallo) if you eat in. They also have a salsa verde and roja (spicier). Overall it was a great experience. Relaxing and friendly atmosphere. The food came out in short order and was enjoyable. I ordered a torta de carne asada and my husband ordered some sopes and tacos de asada I have to say it was delicious!!! Meat had a great flavor everything was cooked to perfection! To top it off before handling the check to us they give you a small portion of rice pudding and wow just amazing! Would I recommend this place? OF COURSE!!! My fiance and I absolutely ADORE this restaurant, it's easily my favorite Mexican place in the city that I have tried. I highly recommend the asada quesadilla meal, with the salsa verde. Excellent! I'm pretty picky when it comes to quality of delivery, and this place did not disappoint. My partner is Mexican, so ever since I started dating him I've had him try all the Mexican restaurants that I found "good". Unfortunately, my idea of good Mexican food seems to be flawed because he didn't like any of them. And then there was Dona Naty's. I had ordered delivery from Dona Naty's a couple years ago but I had forgotten about it. One day I was walking down Chicago Avenue and I noticed the sign. It looked familiar so I kept trying to place it. Finally I realized "It's that Mexican restaurant I really liked!" I also thought, "It's that Mexican restaurant that gave me diarrhea!" I immediately knew I wanted to try it again. We ordered a plethora of food. A taco, torta, gordita, sope, a breakfast burrito and something else but I can't recall. My partner loved the steak torta. He had said that it reminded him of his mom's tortas. The steak was tender, and it almost tasted as if you were eating a steak burger. The sope was kind of bland. It might have been the meat since I got chicken. Not as much flavor in the chicken as steak or pork. The lomo pork gordita was very tasty. My partner wasn't the biggest fan of it, but that just meant more for me. There were a lot of refried beans inside, so just a warning for people who aren't into refried beans. The taco was good. Had a very typical taste to it and the steak was, again, tender. It wasn't a loaded messy taco like most taco places make now. I like that because those types of tacos are difficult and messy to eat. Half the ingredients fall off in the first bite, or the tortilla rips. Now for my favorite part, the breakfast burrito. I almost died of delight when I bit into the breakfast burrito. It was chorizo and scrambled eggs. Amazing combo. The burrito was packed full of it and every bite was better than the last. One thing I will say is that I would have preferred the burrito without the lettuce and tomato. It just didn't add anything, and was kind of weird to eat with eggs. Overall it was still so amazing that I ordered it two more times since then. I shouldn't forget to mention both their salsa verde and red salsa are great. The red salsa is very spicy which I really enjoyed. It definitely made my lips and tongue tingle plus the flavor was good too. I poured both on just about everything I ate including the breakfast burrito. Dona Naty's is a great restaurant. The taste is great, and the food is extremely affordable. It's probably the cheapest Mexican food in the area ever since tacos became the new "in" food to eat. Negatives are that each time I ate the food it gave me a stomach ache plus some quality bathroom time. I would say it's worth it though. Definitely try Dona Naty's. read more

Dear God, I want to be thankful for 3 things about Dona Naty's... I. A 3 dollar minimum for a delivery order. That is insane and off the chain. Absolutely unheard of in the city. II. They are SOO fast. They gave me a 30 minute wait which was cool with me... but they got to me in 10. III. I had the Pastor, Asada, and Pollo taco. One after the other I was wolfing each down like I had 2 minutes to live. I pray that anyone who has had a bad experience with Mexican food around town (see my La Pasadita review) try this place and find faith again.... because I sure did. There are many things to love about Dona Naty's Taco. Here is the short list: Delivery - free with a $20 order. And it came fast. And hot. Tacos - Amazing. Lomo, Carne Asade. All of them were delicious, and with generous toppings of onions and cilantro. Guacamole - Also Amazing. I usually skip all kinds guacamole (restuaruant or not), I never like the way it tastes. I would rather just eat straight up avocados. Here, I couldn't stop eating it. It was delivered alongside tortilla chips, which were fresh but they would have been more awesome if they were warm. Rice - I have no idea how they prepare it, but I am assuming they use unicorn tears because it was that magical. I have never thought of anything more that "meh" to mexican rice at most restaurants, but here the flavor was rich and fragrant without being oily or greasy. Agua fresca - I also ordered a huge pineapple agua fresca for the husband, but I kept stealing sips from it. Delish. Wish I also ordered the horchata but there is always next time. And one of the best parts was the price. I ordered a feast for three for about $30. This was my last meal in Chicago before leaving to go home the next day. My only regret is not getting food from them earlier and more than once during my visit. read more

Expect nothing out of the ordinary at Dona Naty's tacos. I ordered a simple Chimichanga suiza which to my previous recollection had sour cream with it, of which there was none. A small dish of a condiment was brought out with my entree. It turned out to be rice pudding. Why would one bring out a dessert item at the same time as the entree? Service was slow and totally absent after my food was brought to me. Horrible! The place is clean but the acoustics are atrocious. How can one eat in peace hearing chopping, banging, screeching, and loud chatter. Maybe hang up some fabric of some kind to absorb all the background noise in such a small space? I have been on a taco quest and had to try Dona Naty's tacos. I tried a variations of the tacos to try and get a good basis to compare it to other area taco joints. Dona Naty's was okay, but I've had better. However, the food is very reasonably priced for what you get and service was very friendly. The tacos are authentic and typically served with cilantro and onions. I tried the pastor, asada, pollo and chorizo con huevo. The tacos were sort of a hit or miss. I tried the chicken first and was disappointed. It lacked no flavor and was a bit chewy. I would not get this again. The chorizo con huevo was okay, but also lacked seasoning. The two best tacos were definitely the asada and the pastor. I would definitely get those again - particularly now knowing that they deliver (score!). read more

Best kept mexican secret in the neigborhood. The flautas are really good and so is the pico de gallo and guac. The carne asada is a close second to Pasadita and you can always get a table or place an order at Dona Natys (unlike overcrowded Pasadita). La Pasadita's (all thirteen million of them)--HAH. Dona Naty's is where it's at. Oh my gosh, these sweet, succulent tacos! They are so tasty--so very, very tasty. So tasty that I've neglected most of my social life and my waist in order to indulge in these suckers almost daily. Sigh. Just thinking of them now, it is breaking my heart that they are not in my mouth, getting chewed. So yes, I love Dona Naty's more than any taco stand in the city. Get the tacos (steak or ribeye are primo) with just cilantro and onion and ask for lime on the side. Then, drip on oodles of delicious home made (and muy caliente!) salsa atop.
