I had the chicken plate and baklava to go. Baklava was nice but super sticky with the syrup oozing out onto the paper bag. The chicken plate was ok. I had better. The rice was not the usual rice used in other donair places as they were a bit mushy like Chinese rice which were overly wet. I did not like that. I go there often for take out. They have delicious donair. I prefer the chicken. The beef is normal and it can sometimes be dry. The lamb is great during the winter if need some healthy protein boost. You can sit there to eat, but it just a fast food restaurant, so don't expect a fancy place. Two words: Chicken platter. Two more words: Fucking delicious. Donair Land is located across from Joyce Station on Vanness Avenue, about half a block from Joyce Street. Right now there is construction happening on Vanness, right in front of Donair Land, but they are still open for business, and I encourage everyone to go and support them! Donair Land serves a variety of Mediterranean dishes, both meat and veggie options, but my favourite is the chicken platter. I've tried other things, but nothing was as satisfying as the chicken platter, and it's now the only thing I order. In fact, when I come in, the staff already know what I want. Hey, I like what I like! I always take my order to go, but there are a few tables and chairs if you want to dine in. Also, thumbs up to the staff -- they are friendly and really quick at putting your order together. Ok ok. So it's been a very, very long time since my last visit here. The last time, I recall the platter tasted awful and the service was terrible during the evening. I gave it a pretty low score and it stuck on Yelp for a long time. I reluctantly went in again, with a friend who wanted to go during this c-19 pandemic. The meal was on him. What did I have to lose? So I ordered the Lamb donair with low expectations. I took it back to work and absolutely devoured it in a few seconds. What an improvement. Now i ordered the wrap instead of the platter but it was still delicious. They ask you if you want their sauces at the end? Say yes! It makes a difference. Then I owed my friend a meal the next week. I naturally take him to the joint again. This time, I'm paying. The owner seemed to be serving us. I order the wrap and so does my friend. We take it back to the office. We both devour our food. Nice! So after 2 positive visits, I felt compelled to update my review, especially during the pandemic when small businesses are already suffering. 4 stars from yours truly. IMO, their food quality has improved and the service was way better (during lunch) than last time. Ladies and Gentlemen, I will continue to go back from now on for my donair fix. This review is strictly based on my takeout experience. If you're looking for some damn good donairs, Donair Land is where it's at. I decided to get the chicken donair platter, thanks to my brother's suggestion, and it was delicious! It was served on a bed of spiced rice, and topped with tzatziki, some sort of salsa and jam-packed with flavour. It was also served with a side of hummus and salad, which paired nicely with the chicken. It also came with a pita to put the chicken mix in, but I decided to opt out of using the pita. I know, I know, it defeats the whole purpose of a donair. But hey, I just wasn't feeling it at the time. Service is quick. We gave them a call and about 10-15 minutes later when we got there, it was all packed up and ready to go for us. Efficient. Fantastic shawarma/donair! I ordered the Chicken Plate (9.41) and it was amazing. The chicken was beautifully seasoned with a slight lemon flavouring to it, and was complimented nicely with the Tahini. The Tabbouleh was super lemony with a nice fresh crunch to it, with cucumbers and tomatoes. The hummus is also very creamy and has all of the chick pea flavouring that you'd expect! The pita is a different story though...it somehow starts off fluffy and airy when it's warm yet when it cools, it ends up being very crispy, like Papadum! THEY USE THE WRONG KIND OF RICE Went here today. When I stop at Joyce Skytrain,I usually head over to the pizza by the slice joint next door. So I have been meaning to try out this place for a long time. I ordered the chicken platter on rice. Comes with hummus & "Tabouleh" & a pita. They put the standard garlic sauce, tzatziki sauce & hot sauce. I asked for a little extra hot sauce and the girl said that she would have to charge extra. Like seriously ? :/ Chicken pieces were average tasting. Not bad but not great either. The sauces definitely do tie the meat & rice together nicely tho. But the rice they use is very different from all other donair places I been to. It is not the long grain Arabic rice.Its more like the east Asian rice found in Chinese or Vietnamese cuisine. Does not really go well with the donair meat or the sauces. Kinda awkward for lack of a better term. Me thinks they went with the East Asian rice becuz its probably cheaper. Tabouleh salad was good but probably not authentic.Cucumber pieces, onions & tomato with diced mint on top. At least its only 1.25 for a can of pop. read more

I knew the place would be bad as soon as I ordered a falafel sandwich and saw that they were going to nuke pre-made refrigerated falafels. I walked in with a friend, but the woman only took my order and then made it and left it in the sandwich press for a super long time while she returned to make my friend's sandwich and process our payment. As a result, my lettuce, cucumber and tomato were hot and slimy. In comparison, my friend's beef donair had cold meat (which was also pre-portioned and refrigerated). I like this place, and seeing as I live in the building above it (Joyce Place), it's super convenient. But not everyone is as lucky as I to live on top of a donair place, so here goes... I really do love Donairs. They are relatively healthy, and this place is no exception. They donairs themselves are quite good, and the staff are friendly after you've been a few times (I see the pony-tailed owner often). The only complaint I have: if you go during the daytime, the wife is working, and she seriously skimps on meat. So, if you see a girl working the counter, please ask her not to skimp on the meat. After all, it is pretty expensive compared to other donair places. read more

Glad to see a donair restaurant in this neighbourhood that is lacking in food varieties - it's either pizza, subs or Chinese cuisine. I've been to Donair Land a few times and I must say, the food isn't bad. The donairs and rice platters are freshly served and the fusion of flavours will leave you craving for more. However, their prices are a little on the expensive side with this type of food. In other donair establishments, I've seen the same food $1-$2 cheaper. Not that I'm complaining though because the food at Donair Land is delicious and convenient. They are located along Vanness Avenue, just across the street from the Joyce skytrain station. If you're taking a bus and stopped along Joyce Avenue, just walk a 50 meters west along the south-west corner and you'll find it. Service here could be improved. There are times when line-ups have been out the door and I've noticed on a few occasions that the gentleman who arranges the food doesn't pay attention to orders. It's frustrating, I know, but once it's done right, your stomach will be pleased. read more

I went today, and 2 people working, the male told the female to make my donair while he went to cut meat off the rotary...as she was making mine he came with some meat and started putting it in the tray, and then he looked left...the woman turned her head too and her long hair (long dark waist length in a high ponytail) went into the meat tray. So I say to them I guess you didn't notice that while you were turned her hair went into the meat. They immediately got defensive and she rolled her eyes at me, he then grabbed the bottom of her hair and said see no meat grease. I said uuh yeah I watched it. Then he went to the counter and brushed the counter with his hand and said her hair swept the counter only (which is where the donair's are made and the trays are). THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO REALIZE EVEN THAT IS GROSS AND VERY UNHYGENIC......Tie your damn hair up when you work with food (and wear a hair net). read more

Mehhhhh. I've tried lots of vegetarian falafel plates in Vancouver, two of my favourites being Pita Wrap Café and Falafel Maison, both downtown. Usually for about $10 you get a generous portion of falafel, seasoned rice, a little spinach pie or samosa, dolmathes, tabouleh or Greek salad, and hummus and pita. In Donair Land, $10 gets you falafel, plain white rice, a "salad" made of tomatoes, green peppers, parsley and cucumbers, and pita and hummus. Literally about half the portion I've had anywhere else. It was also pretty bland - I ended up dumping leftover tzatziki all over it once I got home, which made it edible. When in to purchase a Donaire and after realizing I did not put any peppers on my donair they became very unaccommodating and would not assist me in changing my order. I haven't even ate the sandwich yet and I'm pretty disappointed that they lacked customer service and helping the client I won't be back. read more

This is my first time here with my husband. We ordered a chicken Donair to go. I was impressed that the guy washed his hands in front of us before making our Donair. The only thing that my husband and I found weird was that he wrapped up the Donair and then placed it into the grill. He was basically just grilling the paper. But the Donair was pretty good! I came to this establishment around 945 (15 minutes before close). I ordered 2 Donairs from the menu and it was honestly the worst I have ever had. The Donair meat was taken out of a tray that looked like bacon bits and was literally crunchy. If they didn't have any meat to slice they should have just said so before serving me this garbage. Fantastic donair.. the basic chicken/beef/lamb is 6.99 and is basically a giant pouch of fillings. Very flavourful. Service is extremely prompt, and the interior is very clean, although I always grab it to go. You can have a platter of meat, rice, sauce, veggies, humus and pita for $10 which is an amazing deal. They take cards which is helpful. The guy at the counter is really nice. Food is okay, the chicken tastes great, beef is good in a donair, the lamb tastes nice. The hot sauce is straight tomato sauce so you have to ask for the extra hot which is really regular hot. The short lady is sweet and nice. The other lady is not friendly, she will bark to you in English and than immediately say something in her own tongue to the other employees. When the man is there he is always telling her how to serve the dishes so I can see her plight. They do not have smaller containers so don't ask for anything on the side, seems like they are dead set against anything they deem as "extra" customer service. I just noticed this new restaurant today while walking to the mailbox! Although the name sounded a little cheezy, the interior looked clean and welcoming so I popped in. The thing that caught my eye was that they offered garlic sauce! Being from the East Coast, I instantly thought of the sweet garlic sauce that accompanies our donairs back home. The sauce wasn't as sweet as I hoped, but delicious nonetheless! They also have tzatziki and hot sauce. I frequented Vancouver quite often and all the 6 or 7 times I was there I always had a gyro or chicken platter at least once. I love the staff. I love the food. My top Mediterranean of all time.
