I am a big fan of their canh chua (Vietnamese sour soup), Goi Bap Chuoi (Banana Blossom Salad), spring rolls, and their fried tofu! They have a hot bar, cold items, and food made fresh to order. The service is also nice but there is a Vietnamese language barrier that could make it harder to communicate. However, they were nice enough to give me a discount on my order of tofu since I bought the last of it and there weren't enough pieces to make a full order. You can choose between sweetened (green cap) or unsweetened (orange cap). They make the soymilk fresh in house and it's always creamy, lightly sweet and very delicious! I've also tried their dau hu nuoc duong, also known as taho (filipino) or douha (chinese), which is essentially silken tofu with a spicy, sweet ginger syrup ($2 small, $4 large). SO GOOD HERE!! CASH ONLY, and NO ATM ON SITE. It's no wonder this spot has been around for so long. Just a classic Vietnamese cuisine inspired vegetarian takeout joint. I can't say all items are vegan but for sure, everything is vegetarian. Many of their items are made to look or at least have the texture of meat-like dishes, but are in fact made of soy, etc. The best part is that anything you order from here ACTUALLY tastes like the real deal -- savory and with all the right spices and seasonings. I was a Vegetarian for a while, and even a Vegan for a hot minute, and if I ever switched back to either of those diets -- this would be my go-to spot for all Vietnamese food cravings. I let the sweet cashier pick the items. Ended up trying a fried chicken made from tofu and sweet and sour veggie combo with pineapple. Bitter melon available in vegetarian version without the stuffed pork. Very unique and flavorful. Impossible to name all the items. There is no equivalent in any other place. Soups good for eat there. Fresh noodles and vegetables with vegetarian broth. No CWD prions unlike other places. Đông Phong Tofu is a small Vietnamese tofu shop located in an otherwise busy shopping plaza right across from McDonalds. Famous for its party tray, noodle soup, chow mein, egg rolls, combo lunch and tofu freshly made though it's mostly take-out orders though they do have a limited space for dine-in. I've been a regular customer for the past seven years and the staff are so attentive and very helpful even when it's crowded best to come by early than later. They have an extensive menu items posted on the wall and it's cash only. My favorites are the small Vietnamese pancakes (bánh khọt), vermicelli noodles, spring rolls and tofu. Prices have gone up over the years but, very reasonable more so than some of these high end Vietnamese restaurants. Bought two small size of stir-fried rice noodles (mì xào) and vermicelli noodles $5 each and the ladies are very generous with the portions so no cutting back. Parking is a real challenge on the weekends not so much on a Friday afternoon. By the way it's cash only policy. read more

When I need my vegetarian fix and don't have time to cook for my family, this is where I get my grub. It's a cash only place so don't forget to bring enough. Be forewarned, the food is on the sweeter side, but most of the dishes here are meant to be eaten with rice or noodles. I usually order the BBH (bun bo hue). It's salty and more concentrated so I usually add water to it and it's perfect for two. Their 3 different type spring roll is my favorite in the Bay Area. They have fried egg roll wrappers in the rolls which gives it a good crunch. The carrot/jicama roll is what I enjoy out of the 3. It's time for an update on this chain vegetarian place. Quality and service has gone way down since I've been here before COVID. Prices have gone way up for the smaller portions you get. Shrinkflation is no joke and can visibly see it. The fried mushroom tofu used to be huge chunks: they used to be like the size of 1 tofu block cut into four. Back then it was like 5 cube chunks for $1. Now those cubes turned to like slivers. Getting like around 1/8 (might be smaller) of a block of tofu. Not only that but 3 pieces for $1! The containers are noticeably smaller too and prices went up like crazy. You're better going to the vegetarian restaurants and order to go for even better portion/price and taste. Such a sad thing to see a promising takeout vegetarian place to stoop down to. Also, unlike normal take out service places, this place stopped replenishing their food trays. So if you come later (heck by lunch time they start running out), don't expect them to reload the trays. Also most of the stuff you see on the menu... they won't make it like "salted fish fried rice" and such and would say that what you see available is what they only have left. Same concept applies to the one on story rd. I'm taking my money elsewhere to places like Di Lac restaurant and order takeout from there. Fresher replenishment as well as food made to order. I love the selection here. My only comment are flavors tend to be very sweeet, even the savory dishes. I really love the lemongrass but also noticed it was on a lot of dishes, so it seemed like most dishes shared the same flavors. As someone who loves lemongrass, no complains there, it's just a bit sweet. The options are amazing. Lots of great veggie items, a huge assortment of dishes you can choose alacarte without the rice, which is perfect to compliment a noodle soup, or take home for a dinner at home. They also had a lot of desserts, and the prices were very reasonable. The mint was a nice touch to the bun bo hue. I also go to Tofoo Com Chay, which is nearby. So to give a quick comparison I would say this is a lot more variety, maybe an average of ~$.50 higher in price. They also sell a bunch of random things to take home. There is a good variety of cold drinks in the cooler like Thai iced tea,and behind the counter is a tempting array of different dishes. Went with my daughter after a orthodontist appointment. So imagine how extra picky and probably grumpy she would be with food. Since she didn't eat much during school lunch, I told her that we can go buy some food. The tables seemed new compared to the ones I saw before. They had pictures on the wall and prepared food displayed behind the glass counter. We ordered the udon noodles and fried rice, for $7 each. They don't have soda so we got some canned drinks from the fridge, me taking a guava juice while the kiddo got the thai tea. The drinks were $3.50 all in all. Not bad. The food was delicious. Tho it doesn't look like the ones on the pictures, what we had was tasty and perfectly seasoned. My daughter's fried rice was very good too. It was a lot for the price and she was really satisfied without the bloated feeling after eating all that carbs. I like my udon which was a vietnamese version of thick glassy noodles; not synonymous to the Japanese kind. It was smooth and gummy which I liked. They also sell dry snacks and sticky rice. They also offer party trays for noodles and lotus salad. When ordering party trays, order about 2 hours ahead of the time, this according to the shop owner. This is definitely a place to visit and try out. I will try their other food. Be warned tho. This can get crowded during lunch since they only have a few tables and chairs for dining.
