[[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot in East San Jose is a great place for Vietnamese snacks, fresh dishes, and drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We often stop by to grab a dessert drink and some tofu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their selection of fried tofu is impressive, with the lemongrass fried tofu being particularly popular, often selling out quickly. I sometimes get the rice crackers as well, though I wish they came in smaller portions since they take a while to finish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dessert drinks are refreshing, with numerous options and combinations to choose from, and they provide ice separately.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In addition to snacks, they offer a variety of fresh foods. Although I haven't tried them yet since I usually visit a nearby Vietnamese restaurant for those, it seems like a great place for a quick grab-and-go meal. I also enjoy their fried Chinese donuts. The store accepts credit cards, and it's best to visit around lunchtime as some items sell out quickly. On one occasion, we visited late in the afternoon and found that many items were already gone, and we couldn't get what we wanted.

Ever wonder where older Vietnamese or Chinese people go after church? Well, this spot is the not-so-secret old G meeting place on the weekends. We walked in to pick up some silken tofu with sweet ginger syrup, and wowzers -- we walked into a store filled with grandmas and grandpas yelling their orders from across the room -- all in Vietnamese or Chinese. Almost like a scene from one of those Chinese drama series. Anyway, this spot is known for their Tofu prepared in multiple ways but they also sell snacks, banh mi sandwiches, desserts, and grab-and-go lunch plates. I would say it's a good choice for a stop on a lunch hour or even a place to pick up food while on the way home for dinner. Decent prices. Classic selection.

This is a great place for all kinds of snacks, quick to grab foods, Vietnamese desserts and freshly fried tofu. Service is fast, friendly. The place can be crowded during certain hours. Clean and spacious with lots of foods displayed besides freshly made to order desserts. The fried bananas have to be eaten right away. Otherwise the skin can become tough. The banana inside is not a lot, though. They could slice a bigger cut of banana to fry.

Inside - a pretty extensive list of Viet desserts

4+ A place that has that small corner shop field that's located in the strip mall in San Jose. They have a counter serving lots of different Vietnamese desserts, and they have sandwiches for sale as well in addition to a good variety of goods available throughout the space. The folks here are super nice. This is one of those places I love supporting. My family and I were having lunch nearby, but we stopped by this place to get some goods. I wanted one of the desserts with the coconut milk and I wanted to get some sandwiches for a long drive I was going to do later. The dessert and the sandwiches were good and reasonably priced. Definitely a good spot if you want some Viet desserts or some foods on the go.

Another one of our favorite local Vietnamese grab and go spots. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have all sorts of food, drinks, and snacks to choose from.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I believe it's cash only here. I always "make my own" Che and point to everything I want since I don't like the beans. Prices are pretty reasonable as well. They are popular by the locals and it could be very busy and sell out towards the end of the day so come early if there's things you want. Another favorite is the khoai mon dessert. We've tried the tofu pudding and that's pretty tasty. If you're in the mood for a savory snack they have banh mi as well. Authentic no frills Vietnamese spot in a crowded shopping center. Parking could be crazy and be backed up on the weekends so be prepared.

IMHO While I was waiting for my pedicurist to arrive at my hair salon, my stylist told me to visit Duc Phuong for a tea and snacks. Okay, I had time to kill... It was busy inside with a small crowd of customers. I saw a few big tables topped with wrapped food goods. I'm not Vietnamese so I had no idea what most of this stuff was. However, I was intrigued and picked up a few items. There were no prices on any of them. The cashier rang up my items and my total came to $16.50. I have no idea if that was good or bad. LOL I liked what I got. Will I go back? Maybe...

A great go-to place for some Vietnamese treats, it's Viet galore! This is hidden in the corner of the plaza entrance across Hue. It's definitely a little nerve-wracking to come in if you don't know Vietnamese since there may be a language barrier. But all the food here ... *chefs kiss*. There are so many options from getting dou hua (tofu pudding), lots of banh dishes, che desserts, soy milk ... there's a lot and it all looks yummy.. My all-time favorite is the dou hua, coconut jelly, and cha lua. I'm not sure if they accept cards but I usually just come in with cash on hand.

What I LOVE from SJ Eggrolls is the garlic noodles with the garlic butter shrimp. IT SO DELICIOUS! One of the best garlic noodles I've ever had and the shrimp was tasty. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the shell was soft to eat. Another item I love here is the banh khot! So crispy, fresh, and fried well. Very limited seating, this is more of a take out spot. I read up on some reviews before coming in and learned there could be a long wait, so I ended up calling in ~30 minutes before I planned on getting there. I was particularly excited about the Banh Khot and netted eggrolls the most, but they mentioned that the eggrolls were unfortunately sold out that day (we came in around lunchtime on a weekend) We ordered the banh khot and garlic shrimp noodles and ate them at home, and both were delicious!! The banh khot was warm and crunchy. I love when you can taste hints of coconut and when the garlic is suuuper strong lol The garlic noodles were alright tbh. The noodles were a little hard but the shrimp was cooked perfectly! They're definitely meant to be more of a takeout spot. They were pushing out party trays like crayyyy when we were there. I'd definitely keep them in mind for these occasions in the future!

Despite it being in a big lot, parking still took a while to find. Thankfully, we had thankfully just beat the lunch rush and not had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.
