I did not enjoy my meal delivered by grubhub from Dong Po. The ribs were not cooked well and stiff. I had to rise off the horrible sauce and bake them for another hour with fresh BBQ sauce. The chicken wings well not sure what they were coated with but they were not very crispy and to me one chicken wing has two parts therefore 6 wings has 12 pieces. The rice was dry and the veggies mushy. I will not order there again. read more

This place is disgusting. I ordered general tso's chicken and it tasted like a radioactive experiment. Quite literally the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten. I'm in Appleton for 2 days and thank god because the eating options are limited. I saw that this place delivered so I decided to try them and what a gross mistake that was. It tasted stale, and had a chemical aftertaste. Paying $20 for such mediocrity is painful. This restaurant should shutter its windows and learn to make "authentic" Chinese cuisine. read more

We had dinner there tonight and it was very good. We both ordered the spicy tuna hand roll for an appetizer and it had good flavor/texture and the rice was perfect. We shared the orange chicken for dinner which was great but could have used a bit more time in the deep fryer. By the time it got to us, it started to get a little soggy. No silverware included, and the ship was informed this was a hotel they were delivering to. Additionally, shop was not willing to substitute a different style of rice, spouting off about "freshness" or something about the rice. I never ever post bad reviews but... I was really disappointed with this place. Just moved to Appleton and it was number one for Chinese delivery on yelp so I thought we were safe. Ordered chicken lo mein and crab Rangoon. I've eaten a lot of Chinese food that other people called crappy and loved it but this is just bad. The lo mein is incredibly bland, the chicken has a chemical/plastic taste to it, and the crab Rangoon was soggy and hard to swallow, yet alone stomach. It was a huge amount of food for $25 so I was excited when I pulled a big plastic container out of the bag thinking I'd gotten a great deal-- only to find that the food inside was inedible. Will have to find another delivery place because this is not the one for me. read more

Dong Po is one of our favorite restaurants. The staff is always friendly, and we have never had to wait to be seated. Some may consider the atmosphere a bit dated, but we like it. The food comes quickly and the "Amazing Chicken" truly is amazing, which makes it hard to order anything else. The hot and sour soup is perfect, and the crab rangoon are usually excellent. The only reason I am not giving Dong Po five stars is because the quality is not always consistent, for example on our last visit the crab rangoon was only okay, and the battering on my Amazing Seafood was under-cooked. We'll definitely be back, and more than likely ordering the Amazing Chicken. read more

During the COVID-19 pandemic, this restaurant failed to have a proper curbside pick up policy in place! My father stood outside for over 45min (in the cold) even after we called ahead over an hour in the cold! Instead of having people call a number and let them remain in their cars while waiting, they were required to stand outside the restaurant in a line to wait for their number to be called. Unacceptable! With not so stellar reviews and stars, we were still willing to give this place a shot, but not any more. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! I was in town to visit some colleges and when our hotel's restaurant wasn't open the night we were there, we decided to look at the sheet from Lawrence University that listed some delicious dining options in Appleton. Sure enough, there was Dong Po. Their menu is expansive and offers so many options. Overall with the two of us we got sesame shrimp with a ginger salad and spring roll and Buddha's feast with wonton soup and a spring roll. The servings were amazing for the price and we ate like Royalty with the food. ALSO with delivery to our hotel they were more than 20 minutes early! Amazing! Went here for lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised! The ambience was pleasant and the waitress was polite and didn't do that annoying fake hyped up happy persona that a lot of places fall into. I ordered the lunch maki on a whim, and I have to say it was spectacular. I ordered two of my favorites-the California roll and spicy tuna- and I'd def rate them as some of the best I've had in the Fox cities area. The veggies tasted nice and fresh and the rolls came really quickly, which was particularly surprising as it seemed fairly busy in the restaurant as well. This place is absolutely phenomenal. My kids, wife, and I came here on a Friday night. The feel of this place is that is a nicer Chinese restaurant. It's a little more expensive than some of the buffet type Chinese but WOW! They've got wayyy better food than the average Chinese restaurant around. Every single one of our 4 dishes were amazing. And they took very good care of us. The wait staff was attentive and the owners son is awesome. This guy went around all of the tables asking everyone how it was, and if he could do anything for them. Extremely good place to go. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good Chinese food in the Valley. Hands down, the best Chinese around. read more

Chinese, Japanese, and Thai...a perfect opportunity to use the expression " Jack of all trades master of none".

Food: miso soup - perfect. I'm not going to pretend a good miso is hard to find, but bad miso is abundant so when I find a perfect miso, it takes me back to the time I spent in Japan, and makes me very happy! Hunan Pork, extra spicy: perfectly cooked, juicy, tender pork and broccoli with just the right amount of crunch. I'm not a fan of water chestnut, so I pushed them aside, but I did try them and they added a pleasant texture to the dish. The hunan sauce was the best I have ever had and the chef added the perfect degree of heat to my plate - not overwhelmingly spicy, and not weak. Service: excellent! I wanted a quick lunch and that is precisely what I got. I was in and out in 30 minutes, but was never rushed. The waitress was courteous and quickly tended to my needs. I never had an empty glass, and did not have to stare at empty dirty dishes. Overall, I was highly pleased with Dong Po and look forward to sampling the dinner menu! read more

I was not impressed with this restaurant at all. I love good authentic Chinese food, but this place left much to be desired for me in way of authenticity and food quality. I decided to go with delivery; having never eaten here before, but having read enough good reviews to consider this place worth a try. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. They were fairly expensive and the food did not live up to the prices. Almost $13.00 for pan fried noodles and I swear they came out of a bag! The pancakes that came with my moo shoo pork were just corn tortillas, not the delicious pancakes a real Chinese restaurant would make. The vegetable tempura was most defiantly a frozen out of the bag product, and while crisp and crunchy, it lacked any taste or flavor at all. The most disturbing part of my experience is when I found a metal strand in my cashew chicken! It was clearly a strand from a metal Brillo pad.(I have posted pictures of all of this). While most of the other food was okay, in an all you can eat buffet type setting, it fell extremely short of good authentic Chinese. In my opinion, there are far better places to get good Chinese food in Appleton. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

My meal at Dong Po was so disastrous that it caused me to walk out on a restaurant dinner for the first time in my life. There is a line that gets crossed between a well-intentioned failure, and deliberate insult and indifference. The first is excusable; the second is not. This Chinese place down the street from us, Dong Po, was the kind of restaurant that moved from the shrug of the appetizer to the "screw you" of the entree without the slightest embarrassment. Our appetizer, calamari, had clearly been poured out of a bag, microwaved, and served with a big bowl of ketchup. The soup was canned, lukewarm, and all the vegetables and meats had the same texture: paste. My partner and I were descending into a black mood, and she leaned over to whisper, "If the meal is this bad, I say we leave." I blanched, but she grabbed my hand and said, "We have to learn how to do this. This is pitiful." And it was. We cook a lot together, and we're a very competent team by this point. We know that good cooking is actually pretty easy if you just practice a few techniques, have a few key principles, and limit your ambitions. Knowing how easy it is to create a good meal, it makes it much harder to excuse the bad ones. The main dishes came up. My partner's orange beef was... unrecognizable as such. It had been so thickly battered and deep-fried that we needed mining equipment to blast through it. The sauce was made of sugar and orange flavoring, tasting like nothing so much as a melted Jolly Rancher. The beef, to answer the old question, was whereabouts unknown. My Hunan duck may or may not have been duck, because all I could taste was a bad imitation of KFC. I've had duck before, and it is a delicious bird, so why would someone drown it in a salty batter, then deep-fry it until it had the consistency of jerky? The vegetables, meanwhile, ranged from passable to nauseatingly squishy. Not a bit of it seemed fresh. The rice! The rice came in two perfectly shaped hemispheres that I recognized from high school as the sign of the ice cream scoop. It had the same texture I remembered, too. Some of it good, but most of it dried out and crusty from being cooked in too large a batch and left under a heat lamp for too long. So when our waitress came around and asked how it was, we let her have it. We weren't rude, and she genuinely seemed interested in what we thought was wrong with the food. We felt bad for her. It wasn't her fault, but then the manager refused to take anything off our bill and one of the cooks came out to argue with us when we objected. "You ordered this food. This is how we cook here. Lots of people like it, the orange beef is one our most popular dishes. I can give you a ten percent discount. That's all." Just getting this far had taken ten minutes, and we were through haggling, so we accepted. Then he asked, as he handed over the receipt, "So, do you want boxes for your food?" I was laughing as I walked out the door. Sometimes, this kind of thing is personal. A bad experience doesn't have to be. Stuff happens, we all understand that, and most of the time people don't set out to screw one another. But sometimes you see such levels of incompetence and indifference that the rational person can and should take personal offense. Someone looked at what I was given and decided that it was good enough for me, and had the gall to charge me money for it. They had to have known that it was bad, that each aspect of each dish could have been infinitely improved with just the slightest effort, but they decided I wasn't worth it. They decided that the food they were serving was not, in the last analysis, really worth their time or toil. read more

Horrible food. The General Saos chicken tasted like body odor smells like. Rest of food tasted like it came out of a can. There was so many green onions and mushrooms in each meal it was hard to differentiate which meal was which. Really expensive for the quality. Crap quality. About the only thing I can say good about them is they are fast but how long does it take to open a can. Fortune cookies were good. Do not order crab rangoon its all cream cheese. Dong Po. Always delicious! It seems like you can not go wrong ordering off the specials list. Hunan Crispy Duck is something I have to eat every time that I go visit my parents or my life isn't quite complete, the fried eggplant stuffed with shrimp is possibly the coolest dish ever, and on the healthier end of the spectrum, the Korean-style seafood junbon is rich in perfectly-cooked seafood and vegetables, wholesome, and spicy without being overwhelming. The sushi is always fresh and good although the offerings are pretty straightforward. Yes, they use sugar in their sauces and it's not pure and authentic, but it is super-tasty well-made American Chinese comfort food. They're open pretty much every day, so if you're driving through Appleton and want to take the time to eat something that's not road food, Dong Po will do you right. read more

We ordered from here for delivery last night - I wasn't overly impressed, but it was all right. We had the Scallion Pancakes, which were okay but seemed overdone or burned to some extent. We also had the House Lo Mein, which was alright. I was a little surprised that it had shrimp in it, because the menu doesn't say it does, but whatever, no big deal. My husband had the Hunan Pork, which, on the menu is listed as being "Hot & Spicy," but which, in reality, didn't taste spicy even to me, and I'm pretty much a wimp when it comes to spicy. He was a little disappointed that it wasn't actually spicy, but he was otherwise happy with it. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, and I didn't hate it, but it wasn't great. I usually hate placing phone orders, but this wasn't too bad, the prices were reasonable, and the delivery was pretty quick. I love this place. Whenever we are in Wisconsin it is a MUST STOP. Their sushi is always fresh and tastes fantastic. Good chinese food in Wisconsin is really hard to find. My friend in Menasha told me about this place and I even shared the info with my friends from Green Bay. They all go there religiously! It's definitely worth a try. I have placed multiple delivery orders from Dong Po and have enjoyed their food. I almost always order the General Tsos Chicken and have never had a bad order from them. Their crab rangoons are excellent. The only complaint I have is when I am at work I have a set time that I can take lunch at, when I place my order I tell them that I need it there before noon but most of the time they don't show up until much later, around 12:25 or later. I no longer order from them when at work but still enjoy getting their food at other times. read more

We've had delivery twice and both times we have been completely satisfied to say the least. They told us 45 minutes each time and the driver arrived in 25 with our order, and the food was hot and fresh.
