Steak Stewed In An Iron Pot
    Laura G.

Steak Stewed In An Iron Pot: The meat was very tender and fell off the bone easily. The savory sauce was flavorful. For the sides, we got pumpkin, green beans, Chinese cabbage, and enoki mushrooms. The pumpkin was my favorite; it soaked up the sauce very well. The decor inside this restaurant is very fun and immersive. You can either order via a tablet they give you, or a QR code on your table. If you order the iron pot stew, it will cook at your table for 25 minutes before it is ready to eat. It was very fun to watch it start boiling and look forward to the meal! The menu had a lot of different items listed, so I definitely look forward to coming back, and with a bigger group of people, as the portions are big.

BBQ skewered 6/5; big pot stew 3.5/5 Did not expect the BBQ skewers to be this good! My favorites were: - tofu skin with cilantro wrapped inside - lamb skewers - chicken gizzard skewers Everything was so flavorful with the authentic dipping sauce, and meat crispy on outside and juicing inside (especially the chicken gizzard which most places tend to dry them out). The chefs are really good at barbecues! The major character of the show which was the big pot in the center of the table, was more salty than I would have preferred. We ordered the one with the pork ribs, and I would prefer the pork ribs to be cooked longer and tender. I would definitely come back again again for the barbecue skewers! This place is usually packed during peak dinner hours on weekends, but we got lucky and did not have to wait long. Be prepared that similar to hot pot, You will leave this place with food smell carried over your clothes and hair. Portions are good too, so I recommend this place for groups of four and gatherings.

TL;DR: Very authentic and fresh tasting produce. Novel. Hotpot takes about 20 minutes or more to fully cook. Parking: small shared lot. Atmosphere: oriental decor and very much feels like an oriental grandma's kitchen, especially with the tiles on the dining tables. There is a separate room off to the side that is isolated for larger parties. Menu: all on an electronic tablet. Some photos provided and very little to no descriptions. Best do dine with someone well versed in the dishes but you can manage on your own without too. Everything here is pretty authentic and their signature hotpot with the steamed bread around the outer edge is good. Nothing is overly sweet/salty/spicy. Depending on which iron pot you order, you will end up waiting around 20 minutes for it to cook before you can eat. Best to order side dishes. I found that all the veggies used for all dishes were great and not overcooked and mush compared to other places. Cucumber Salad was very refreshing and crunchy. No very spicy at all if you don't eat the peppers, which I appreciate! Kid Friendliness: highchairs, plastic cups with straws.

Came here for lunch with some friends, we made a reservation but there wasn't any line so you probably don't have to worry about it. I've never had this particular style of Chinese cuisine before so I wasn't sure what to expect. We got stir-fried cabbage with glass noodles, crispy sweet & sour pork, and the pork spare-rib iron pot with mantou as the carb on the side. I was really happy with the cabbage and the iron pot; the sweet & sour pork was just fine. I definitely think for the price the iron pot should have come with much more meat, it was five of us eating and I feel like I barely got any! But in terms of flavor, it was solid and I would probably come back. Also, you may want to order extra mantou/carbs for a larger group since the menu set up is a bit confusing (it says the max is 2) but you can order more and we'd definitely prefer to have more. Would recommend coming here with a group of 3-4 which seems to me would be the sweet spot for the amount of food in the iron pot.

Came here with a small group so we didn't try the big iron pot but based on the three dishes we ordered, we will be back for sure. Had the fried yellow croaker. It was very crunchy and enjoyable. The home made five color jelly noodles are tasty as well. The noodles reminds me of hot pot sweet potato noodles. Chewy and springy with lots of other textures including black fungus, carrots, tofu noodle strips. Our third dish was the crispy sweet and sour pork. It was enjoyable too. Crunchy thin sliced marinated pork. Great with alcohol or hot tea. The black sesame soy milk was good too. Not sweet which is what we like. The ambiance was quite nicely decorated with red floral patterns. The staff was attentive. We look forward to returning.

Wowzer, came here with zero expectations and not knowing what this place was other than my friends saying "trust, it's good". And yes, it was very good :) For those who want a bit more spice and/or different type of Chinese food, Dongbei is a great spot to check out Northern Chinese style cuisine. Things to note: Reservations: For groups of 6+, you can call in for a reservation. Otherwise, expect a wait during peak hours. There is a handy yelp wait list machine as you enter, so don't miss that Parking: Huge lot outside the restaurant Food Ordering: All done through an IPad. English and Chinese language available Food portions: If you're in a group, recommend ordering a lot of small dishes to share and 1 large stew pot for the main course :) Perfect for family style. For my group of 6, we ordered 8 small dishes and 1 pot. It was a good amount where we ate pretty much everything and nothing to bring home. Food: Honestly, can't remember the exact name but can go by looking at my yummy food pics: 1. Skewers: Very yummy~ had the beef and tendon and I like how the cumin seasoning isn't too much and was well balanced 2. Peanut noodles ~ with a bit of sesame flavoring, this dish was very refreshing to eat 3. Fried Mushrooms ~ great appetizer! Love how the mushrooms were still a little juicy on the inside after being deep fried and it tasted pretty good most by itself without any sauce, 4. Candied sweet potatoes ~ for anyone with a sweet tooth, this is a fun dish to eat! Was taught to dip the potato into the clear sugar sauce and when you pull it out, the sugary sauce would form light strands of sweetness that you can nibble with the potato 5. The stew ~~~ so filling! Love how the bread gets baked as the stew is cooking. The short ribs was savory and the bread help soak away some of the saltiness. 6. Honorable mentions ~ Eggplant dish had a nice light zing, tried 2 other bread dishes that had interesting textures and a peanut salad that also had some yummy zing. Service ~ friendly staff who was quick to help as needed. Would love to come back and try more things here in the near future!

They now have Chinese BBQ! love them! I think it is not friendly to 2 people meal because it's too much food. But I still like them. I always order fish for the stew, adding Frozen tofu, glass noodle, bamboo shoots. The cooking time is 25 mins, so better have something to eat, or some topics to talk. Parking is free, but at busy time, it's limited spots, since 2 restaurants and 1 boba milk at same plaza, along with many companies.

We've driven by this place countless times and noticed it's always packed--clearly a good sign. So, we finally gave in and stopped by on a Friday night. We arrived around 7:30 p.m. and got seated by 8:00 (not bad for a popular spot). The place was buzzing, and almost every diner was Chinese--which usually tells you all you need to know about authenticity! We skipped the famous stew this time (our stomachs were already sending "capacity reached" alerts) and went for a few northeast Chinese classics instead. Every dish was spot-on: the sautéed three delight, stir-fried pickled cabbage with glass noodles, homemade five-color jelly noodle salad, corn cakes, and northeast-style spicy chicken. We loved all of them.

A pretty new Chinese restaurant in Bellevue serving Dongbei (Northeastern Chinese) cuisine. Dongbei restaurants are not that common in North America, so had to go check this place out. It's on one of the plazas along Northrup Way. Pretty sizable main seating area and two small private rooms in the back. The distinctive thing about the restaurant is that tables are tiled and have the big heaters for the famous Dongbei iron pot stews. The staff spoke Mandarin and English. Went with a big group and we got two iron pots plus a bunch of skewers and small dishes. The skewers were the typical northern Chinese style on the little bamboo sticks. The lamb or beef were pretty good, with a little bit of kick from the seasoning. Even tried tendon and chicken knee skewers which were a little chewy. Also had their sesame sauce cold noodles which were decent. As for the big iron pots, they bring them to the table and heat them for 25 mins. You can order a bunch of things to put in them, including buns to steam near the rims. We got a goose pot and a pork rib pot. Both were very rich and hearty with the steam/stew way of cooking. The goose pot had a stronger and more savory flavor which I preferred, although the goose pieces are more bony. The pork sparerib pot had more meat. The steamed buns mixed with the sauce from the pots were tasty. Overall bill was $35 per person with tax and tip, so medium priced. Had some leftovers as well from the pots. Good to see we are getting more varieties of Chinese cuisine in the Eastside.

We went in not knowing what to expect. But oh my we were pleasantly surprised! The environment is so cute... the decor is like we are transported to China. The service staff were so amazing at explaining everything and the food... oh my that was delicious. We had the soup pot that also steams bread with it. The portions are massive and delicious! Definitely a must try if in the area or even if you want to explore something new and unique.

Had so much fun here! I love places like this that has super regional chinese food - no where else I know in this area has anything like this. It feels like a restuarant in china from the moment you walk in. It's got all the vibes and the artwork on the walls gave me such a chuckle. We came as a group of 6 pretty late at night and were seated immediately. I did all the ordering and went a little crazy on their ipad. We obviously got the stew and I added a looooott of extras to it. Be careful though because we realized when the bill came that they'd forgotten some of the toppings but we were still charged for them. And for some, we really had to dig in the pot to find. We added all the carb options and which it was super fun watching them lay dough on top of the piggies to tuck them in to boil, the piggies were probably the most unnecessary. The other flatbreads were delicious, especially after soaking in all the juices. The other dishes were good too, albeit smaller than expected. The chili powder that the intestines came with was also yum yum. We also got a sesame soy milk pitcher and they gave us a bunch of cute little cups to drink out of.

This is a first NorthEastern Chinese restaurant I have tried in Seattle area. We ordered the signature stewed meat with veggies for the family. We picked the beef ribs with green beans, pumpkin and noodles. We added the scallions buns on the side of the pot. We also ordered some pork dumplings which were quite delicious. The true star is the stewed pot. The stew portion is big and very flavorful. We ordered the Northeast flavor instead of the super spicy soup. It still has a mild kick to it which is perfect for the family. It was so good the we licked the entire pot!! I think we will be back soon to try another stew and dishes.

It's a very cozy place! Reminds me of dong bei in China. The iron pot is very nice and it's huge proportion for two so we order stir fries and barbecue this time. The lamb is tender. The chicken is not too spicy.

All were delicious but my favorite was the stone pot rice. Second time I ordered here, I got garlic chicken wings and fries. Loved it! The wings and fries tasted so fresh. Super crispy and juicy, flavorful. And they were super generous with the fries. There were tons and so yummy - crispy on the outside and soft and hot on the inside. Service is good too. First time, they didn't secure the lid to the bowl of congee and it arrived all over the poor uber driver's car and in the delivery bag. Second time, they served us burnt congee that reeked of chemicals and had little burnt bits in it. Then this time, the congee is absolutely tasteless and they gave us the wrong soy sauce for the shrimp rice rolls. Shrimp rice rolls usually come with a sweet soy sauce, but they always pack you a whole sauce container of regular soy sauce that you won't realize until you pour it over the rice rolls. Sure they might be more reliable if you're dining there; but please don't even bother ordering take out or delivery. It's funny because every time i order congee, it's because I'm so severely hungover and sick and am so desperate for some comfort food. And every time without fail, they make the situation worst some how lol. Also every time we do call in to complain it always sounds like a teen kid that's working and is not helpful at all. Ugh.

I didn't even remember where it was located but was intrigued when I learned it was in a micro-hood named Tanglewood. Salmon was very good, not dry but succulent; as well as the vegetables. The Hanger Steak was amazing. Almost everything was locally sourced and you can taste it. It all just seemed to work together in a uniquely Pacific Northwest kinda way. It's as though you were eating the outdoors. The owner met with us and gave us a history of the place, followed by his chef's cuisine philosophy. Just a really pleasant conversation. My only personal gripe is that some of the elevated presentations of the cuisine itself did not meld well with some of the rustic dishes; I think their presentation should appear slightly more 'nouvelle cuisine française' and less road-side diner in some dishes. Overall however, R Christine reminds me of the wonderful little hidden locovore spots throughout France that oftentime prove to be borderline Michelin star operations. Really solid selection of dumpling dishes, including a very good version of pork soup dumplings…read more(xiao long bao). The three of us came here on a Tuesday holiday for lunch (after checking to make sure they were open). It wasn't too crowded inside and we got seated right away. Water was brought immediately, and one paper menu with pen was given to make our choices (similar to a dim sum place). One thing to notice right away was that everything was under ten dollars (with most under eight), encouraging one to try different things since most are shareable. That's what we did, and most it was quite good. Beef-stew Noodle Soup ($9.95) - on the smaller side but definitely appropriate for the price, with a bit weak beef broth (flavored with star anise and other chinese spices) that was oily. It used small chunks of beef with a lot of gristle around (probably from the shank), which I think is the absolute best cut of beef for this dish). The noodles were OK. Definitely satisfying considering the Seattle winter weather. Pork Xiao Long Bao ($9.25 each) - comes in eights and are the typical (smaller) size. It was expertly handmade, which makes the price very reasonable. Interestingly, the pork and crab version is the same price (which if one frequents DTF knows is unusual). The skin was thin with the top not too thick, the pork sausage inside was flavorful and the soup gelatin was tasty. It's a very good version of XLB, and deserved the two steamer baskets that we got (and devoured) Chinese Crepe ($7.15) - this was a special, with a egg and flour batter wrapping around crispy won-ton chips, covered in a dark house special sauce. It looked interesting (and I love omelets) so worth a taste, but we wouldn't get it again. Pork & Shrimp Potstickers, pan fried ($7.15) - probably my favorite dish this time. Definitely worth the pan fried style, with a beautiful dumpling 'skirt'...beautiful to look at, and enjoyable to eat too. The pork filling is consistently good here. Q-Bao: pan fried pork buns (9.95) - really interesting...combines the dough and breadiness of a chinese bao, with the filling of a potsticker, and then having the bottom pan fried. It was OK. One thing I really like about Dough Zone are the simple accoutrements at the table: soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil...all high quality. For the soup dumplings, little ramekins of ginger are given, but instead of it being sliced, the ginger is crushed, letting it mix even better. My wife really likes it with the XLB, and will ask for it at other places...so far, Dough Zone is the only place that does it like this. Service was OK throughout. It was well staffed, and they weren't very busy so food came out right away hot. They did finally refill the water towards the end of the meal. Paying was at the table and was quick and easy. Founded in 2014 in Bellevue, WA, this is one of two locations in Bellevue (and one of fourteen in WA). There are also three locations in OR, five in NorCal, and four in the Houston, TX area. One of the benefits of having so many locations close together in the Seattle area: can optimize the consistency of the product by prepping much of it in a central place, which reduces costs as well (which I believe is passed down to the customer). There is a lot of competition for this type of cuisine in this area...Dough Zone's continued expansion seems to indicate they are doing things right.

For the hot pot, though, it was a completely different story. We ended up getting the rose milky and I got a beef soup, and both were a 10 out of 10. Amazing flavor, great quality, and so much meat, it was incredible. Each hot pot also sits over a small fire, so your food stays hot the entire time, and the staff can turn it off or on whenever you need, which I really loved. The meal also comes with your choice of rice or vermicelli, which is a clear noodle. Overall, the experience was really great. I would definitely come back to Boiling Point. The food was delicious and the service was so nice!
